I address this to the Chinese Government, and to all who legitimatly seek understanding.

My Name is Bill Edwards. I am a caucasian westerner. My wife however, is not. She is Chinese. She is also the most beautiful woman in the world.

At present, she is in China visiting with friends and family, as well as playing tourist on a 2 month holiday she is absolutly enjoying.

Through her, and due to the fact I have a couple of Chinese employees working with me, I am in contact with a Large number of Taiwanese, and Mainland Chinese on a regular basis.

Some of them are glad to be in Canada. The majority however, are extremely proud of being Chinese, and very proud of their culture. Some them also voice an opinion about Tibet, and other issues fed to us by the western media that somewhat differs from the predominant western attitudes about the Chinese government.

There are two truths to all things. Yours and mine.

There will also always be two truths to all things for so long as we refuse to examine and assess one anothers truths.

Western media feeds us one line. Chinese media feeds us another. Both are at loggerheads with each other, thereby inflaming the sentiments of people on both sides.

But, the very fact that China has a lot of their own people protesting western attitudes toward China during this Olympic year should be reason enough for those of the west to consider that maybe we're only hearing one side of the story, and we are.

The media is no longer a responsible reporting agency in this world. It hasn't been in decades as it seeks to sell more through scandal, than to inform and teach more through honest, unbiased reporting. The so-called profession of " Reporter " is today is just a step or two above a car salesman in value to us and trustworthiness to anyone.

Yes! China occupies Tibet. If you will look into history, China has occupied Tibet before.

It is reported that the Chinese occupation stiffles the rights of Buddhists to practice their faith because, according to the western press, China is officially atheist.

I have a sister-in-law living north of Guang Zhou who is devoutly Buddhist, and she is completely free to practice her faith and beliefs.

Christian groups are permitted to prosthelytize their faith amongst those they come in contact with, so long as they leave politics out of their religion.

The Chinese government is the government of the Chinese People, and we have no business sticking our noses into the affairs of the Chinese people, or their government. If the Chinese people don't want the Chinese government, they'll change it.

Our western media likes to talk about the poverty to be found in rural areas of China that have yet to benefit from advances in free market policies allowed by the government.

Obviously our western media are spending too much time looking for foreign scandal and too little time looking around themselves.

We have abject poverty right here in North America. Yes! People starve on the streets of Canada and the United States, and they are people just as left out of the economic successes of so-called democratized nations, as are those who are left out in so-called comminist or totalitarian states.

There are people sleeping on park benches in London, England in October, folks.

The western media accuses the Chinese government of being rampant with graft and corruption.

What do we call government officials, both elected and unelected who work with corporate lobbyists to provide legislation and contracts beneficial to a few select industries? What do we call leading businessmen who earned incomes hundreds of times greater than the average Joe?

Oh yes! I forgot. They're not corrupt. They're successful.

Ladies and gentlemen. Before you jump on the bandwagon the media has built, ask some questions, and make sure you have all of the right answers.

Get the other persons' truth. Certainly, you won't get it from western media. Their sales go up exponentially with each new scandal they can fire up. So, ask the other guy.

To the Chinese government, I make a heartfelt request. The Chinese people are no less beautiful and caring and devoted as anyone here in the west.

Get your truth out there. Take down the walls and barriers to communication that give the media the freedom to report any and every lie they want to, and consequently, foment more than they inform.

To all things, there are two truths. Yours and mine. If we are willing to try, there can be only one truth at the end of the day, and it will be ours.

Thanks for this forum, and thanks for listening. Later! Luv Ya.

PS:- Nope! I'm not some young idealogical kid trying to make a point. I'm in my 50's, and have been there, done that more than once in my life.

re: Beijing Rock Fest 'Harmonized'

One more. An American with a Chinese wife who has lived in mainland China for 10 years; traveled in mainland China since 1992; lectured at conferences and in schools from Kunming to Dalian; from Urumqi to Xiamen. Schools included Tsinghua; Nankai; and numerous others. Spoken one-on-one with hundreds if not thousands of Chinese students.

In general, Chinese will treat you very kindly. (See note below.)

However, this is where I part from the views of the other two westerners with Chinese wives. You need more than a few weeks to scratch the surface.

I personally find it very sad, that Chinese know so little about their own country and are incapable of stating views that are not flat repetitions of the government propaganda dribble.

They know nothing of Tibet and Xinjiang except the hokey story line the government feeds them. The inability of Chinese students (PhD included) to think beyond these points is shocking.

Over 30 years, I have known many Tibetans. I have heard numerous stories of Rape of Tibetan Nuns by PLA soldiers. Particularly bad was 1989 when Hu Jintao was the boss of Tibet. There is not one thing the Japanese did in Nanjing that the Han people have not done in Tibet. I find the China mentality on Tibet today, is like that of the American Deep South in the 1830's, on slavery. "Oh, we do so much for these people."

Sorry, if a wife comes screaming out of her home that she is being beaten and the husband pulls her back in and says, "Stay out. This is a private affair." I will always believe the wife.

When you go to China, enjoy yourself. You will be impressed by many things, if you avoid the three T's (Tibet, Tiananmen & Taiwan.) However, avoid buses and mixing in crowds as you may be shocked by the rudeness and thieves. And remember, most nice hotels in Beijing and other major cities have cameras recording your actions in your room, 24 hours a day.

Also, just for fun and just to see how much Chinese can only repeat what the propaganda minister tells them, ask any Chinese college student or graduate their attitude about Vietnam. Write it down and then later ask another. You may be surprised how all the answers duplicate each other.

Note: However, I have been in three street fights. Once with a robber and twice defending women (I did not know) who were being attacked on the streets. (No Chinese came to their aid.) I also have had the police, (8 of them) pound on my door at 2:00AM, just to check on me. I have sheltered, (outside of China before 1992), several Chinese students who faced the wrath of the government, if they returned, due ot Tiananmen Square.

A Poem => Published by the Washington Post

When we were the Sick Man of Asia, We were called The Yellow Peril.

When we are billed to be the next Superpower, we are called The Threat.

When we closed our doors, you smuggled drugs to open markets.

When we embrace Free Trade, You blame us for taking away your jobs.

When we were falling apart, You marched in your troops and wanted your

fair share.

When we tried to put the broken pieces back together again, Free Tibet

you screamed, It Was an Invasion!

When tried Communism, you hated us for being Communist.

When we embrace Capitalism, you hate us for being Capitalist.

When we have a billion people, you said we were destroying the planet.

When we tried limiting our numbers, you said we abused human rights.

When we were poor, you thought we were dogs.

When we loan you cash, you blame us for your national debts.

When we build our industries, you call us Polluters.

When we sell you goods, you blame us for global warming.

When we buy oil, you call it exploitation and genocide.

When you go to war for oil, you call it liberation.

When we were lost in chaos and rampage, you demanded rules of law.

When we uphold law and order against violence, you call it violating

human rights.

When we were silent, you said you wanted us to have free speech.

When we are silent no more, you say we are brainwashedxenophobics.

Why do you hate us so much, we asked. No, you answered, we don't hate you.

We don't hate you either, But, do you understand us? Of course we do, you

said, We have AFP, CNN and BBC's...

What do you really want from us? Think hard first, then answer...

Because you only get so many chances.

Enough is Enough, Enough Hypocrisy for This One World.

We want One World, One Dream, and Peace on Earth.

This Big Blue Earth is Big Enough for all of Us.

We will get out of Tibet as soon as the US government returns all the land back to the Native Americans.

We will get out of Tibet as soon the White Austrilians give back the land to the Aboriginies.

We will get out of Tibet as soon as the British and Dutch government extract their nationals and their offspring from South Africa and return the land to the Aficans.

We will get out of Tibet as soon as the US government returns California and other SW states back to Mexico.

We will rigth all the wrongs we've been accused of in Tibet as soon as the Japanese government stops denying the atrocities they have committed during WWII and stop revering class A war criminals as gods.

We will right all our wrongs as soon as the French, British, Germen, Dutch, Italian, Portogese and US governments return all the treasures they looted from us and repay all the riches you have stolen and exploited from all of your colonies in Asia and Africa.

ANY TAKERS?

Not only did the US government never challenged China’s sovereignty back then in the 1940s, it actually made a genuine effort to educate its people on the correct version of history.  Only in the 1950s and only for self-serving geopolitical reasons did the US government did it revised and reinterpreted history as if Tibet had been a separate country all along. The CIA tried to breakup China by fostering the 1959 Tibetan uprising the resulted in the Dalai Lama fleeing to India. The CIA also trained anti-China Tibetan guerillas in Colorado to overthrow the Chinese government.

By Brenda Norrell

Human Rights Editor

U.N. OBSERVER & International Report

.

The Canadian military's draft counterinsurgency manual exposes how the so-called "war on terror" is a mask to authorize torture and murders, that ultimately profit corporations and profiteering politicians.

.

With a copy of the draft manual, the Globe and Mail reported, "Radical natives are listed in the Canadian army’s counterinsurgency manual as a potential military opponent, lumping aboriginals in with the Tamil Tigers, Hezbollah and the Islamic Jihad."

Caught in the act by the media, and exposed by Mohawk Nation News, the Canadian government is now backpedaling.

The Canadian government now says Aboriginal organizations won't be included as security threats like the Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad in a new counterinsurgency manual.

However, the Globe and Mail reported Saturday that the military draft manual recommends deception, ambushes and the killing of insurgents, which included Mohawks.

Canada's draft counterinsurgency manual reflects the tactics of the counterinsurgency manual used by the United States' School of the Americas for decades in Central and South America. As in Canada, Indigenous Peoples in the south were fighting for survival, and to retain their land, water and resources. Corporations acted with impunity and carried out the campaign of genocide.

Indigenous Peoples were raped, tortured, murdered and disappeared by the paramilitaries and Latin leaders trained by the School of the Americas. Renamed the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security, protesters continue to be arrested each year at the Fort Benning, Georgia site. In violation of the Geneva Conventions, the U.S. secret system of torture and disappearances continues at secret international prisons and Guantanamo Bay.

The wise will listen to different people.

Dig deeper and you will find more truth.

why not see the article also from washington post, those who experience the Tibet riot will tell you something most journalists neglect on purpose -
