That is litttle more than nonsensical conjecture on the part of the White House to see if they can find anything, no matter how small or insignificant,, that they can say is a success in Iraq. It is also an exercise on the part of the media who need anything they can magnify from inconsequential to world shaking significance so that they can keep their babbling heads in words.

For all but the historically deprived it is evident that throughout history no government set up by an invader and occupier has ever managed to take over responsibility for the nation and to implement any effective measures. As long as the invaders are in place and the government is seen as a puppet for those invaders, those who want thir land free of occupation will continue to engage in the age old technique of atrocity. Only when the invaders leave is there the slightest chance for improvement and installation of an effective governement.

Too bad the United States never learned that invaders never win and an invasion never accomplishes what it is intended to do until the invading troops clear out of the invaded country. We toppled a regime we didn't like, and even though that is a weak and worthless excuse for an invasion, we did so, but we shall never see another government in Iraq until we get out. If you add that to the stopping of the loss of America's youth, the stopping of the rape of our Treasury and the halting of the loss of our honor and ethics that departure will bring, how can we advocate any other course?

The money spent on war could and ought to be used for peace, development and all things good. Poor countries do not need democracy, they need development, they need to survive, they need peace then only they will enjoy democracy.

The Americans devasted by fire recently needed a fraction of the total expenditure on war in Iraq to continue their normal lives, the U.S government should bear all the cost to rebuild their lives and those devasted by the fire should not spend a dime for rebuilding.

There is nothing being achieved in Karbala.

How about Germany, Japan, Italy, South Korea, need I go on? Haveing served in Karbala as a National Guard MP, I'm happy that the locals are assuming responsibility. The good people of Karbala have wanted to assume responsibility for a while. It's time they do.

The reduction in violence to only thirty deaths per day among Iraqis and the same number of Americans per month just goes to show what can be accomplished when your cause is just, you expend $500,000,000,000.37, kill several hundred thousand people, destroy a nation such that it will cost you $1,000,000,000,000.81 to rebuild what you broke and place a burden upon yourself that will last at a minimum another decade. And they say that you don't always get your money's worth; those naysayers can learn from the Presidency of the dynamic, intelligent and ever successful George W. Bush.

And the result of this will be anew Iraq, a nation of 25,000,000 living as a democratic jewel and shining example to the nations numbering 1,000,000,000 surrounding it which will mostly be Islamic Republics. And the jewel will shine until the Americans go home, Iraq itself becomes an Islamic Republic bcause only Saddam Hussein and then the presence of a multitude of uniformed US assassins kept it from doing this before, Iraq unites with the other large Shiit nation in the region, Iran, to form a Shiit Islamic Republic of over 125,000,000, well armed and ready to take on anyone in the world. Its amazing what the expenditure of a mere $1,500,000,000.67 can result in when you have a far sighted, historically well versed, confident and inspiring leader, aint it.

I think you had better read your history books a little closer. These nations received governments after they were freed from the governments set up by an invader or governments whose actions were a real threat to the world. Unless of course you believe that Germany as a nation and the others as nations were invaded by Russia and the US during WWII. Seems to me they were occupied to wrest the nation from the hands of those who had userped it or invaded it in the first place, and at least in the case of Japan the resultant governemnmt based around the Emperor was left essentially intact while in Germany it went back to what it was before the war and in South Korea it was freed from the Japanese invader. So don't compare the pitiful litle puppet government in Iraq with the governments established by the loser nations after WWII. Compare it with the puppets set up by those loser nations in countries they invaded and temporarily occupied before being driven out by the people.

Iraq is more the case we find with France and Norway and the Phillipines where another nation swept into their lands, overturned their government and set up a government of its own to ligitimize an unlawful invasion. In fact the parallel is exact; covet, invade, occupy, overturn, set up and as will soon be the case in Iraq though its been evident for four years, lose.

Perhaps your belief that the people of Karbala are allegedly taking over their own defense, ridiculous as that is, is merely a wish on your part because you gave up a large part of your life and put yourself in danger for a goal that was without honor and had no meaning. I felt the same (somewhat) when I served in Korea, but at least I had the satisfaction of saying that my sacrifice was also in the name of a larger effor,t the Cold War where there was a real adversary. Iraq servers have no such satisfaction unles you convince yourself that you are protecting your nation by destroying a weak, unthreatening power and helping to contain the threat posed by a few "terrorists" hding in caves, armed with rifles and homemade bombs, muttering "Death to America." History will show that Iraq was a stupid, unnecessary, immoral action on the part of a nation which had lost its moral and ethical way, and that those who served and died there did so for no reason. A footnote in a History book and an example of how the greatest nation on earth could embarrass itself and its citizens. No glory, ever.

For all of "your knowledge" you haven't a clue about what is happening across the globe and has been left un-checked for over a decade. The WEST is in for the fight of it's life! Your "DOVE" approach to all that was in the past and all that is the present is very obvious in your perceptions! The ISLAMIC uprising across the globe, (ISLAMO-FASCISM) that has been building for over a decade is a real threat to your and mine and all that we individually call our ways of life! It is not for little pumkin heads to understand why it was so important to get into IRAQ! But now that I have seen fit to engage your comments in this forum I shall tell you why we are there. It's called a FOOTPRINT. Look at Afganistan, Iran and Iraq on a map! Look at the other countries in the vicinity who are offering U.S. Militrary the support for their operations. IRAN is surrounded, as well it should be! The MUSLIM HOLY WAR against the WEST and all of the rhetoric concerning destruction of Israel has just a few countries scared, rightfully so! The ISLAMIC extremists believe they can and are diligently working toward the toppling of modern society so that they may rule the globe under Allah! These people are ARAB NAZIS and no less! You want to become one? Maybe you prefer your woman or woman to have no rights. Maybe you are a scumbag agitator or an anarchist. The WAR is real and it is for the reason of preserving FREEDOM! YOU BETTER BELIEVE THAT

You are the same people demanding that we withdraw our troops and get out of Iraq, and here's a story about us doing that very thing.....and all I see in the comments are complaints still.

I seriously believe it should be classified as a mental illness..."Bush Derangement Syndrome".

I can hear you people now.."We support our troops....those murdering baby killers".

I am glad there weren't people like you guys around during WW II, or else we would probably all be speaking German today!

After US President Carter and his NSC Crew armed Afghani extremists....it gave the Soviets no choice but to invade....the good old "Cold War" days....

Doesn't Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice know what became of the Soviets??? Of course they do....

It temporarily "collapsed" the Soviets....financially....

But that doesn't matter...it's not about "Winning"....it's just about keeping the Neo-Conservatives making money, hand over fist, at cost with no consequence....

Funny to think, Obama's main Foreign Policy Advisors are those same "Dead-Beats" from the Carter Administration....

...as well as the Clinton Camp.... ....as well as the McCain Camp..... as well as the Romney Camp....

BTW- Let's Get Set for Round 3....Central Asia....HERE WE COME!!! Spreading the Constitution, The Bill of Rights, Freedom, Democracy, etc., etc.... Halliburton will need to keep posting "Record Profits" along with all the other Benefactors of Democracy.....

Uncle Sam must prove to Israel, that his Lady Liberty is Always Up For Sale...

VOTE FOR RON PAUL!!! He's a real "Vet"....and Believes in Lady Liberty and The Constitution!!!
