Yes that is a nice idea but have you ever thought of going up to the biggest guy on the subway and telling him your thoughts on this.  I wonder what he might do, or would you even do it.

@Evilbaby: I think there's an uneasy detente between publishers and GameStop right now. But look for more publishers to include codes for downloadable content and/or online-enabled features to add value for the original purchaser but reduce value for all successive resales. EA did it with NBA Live 2009. Epic did it with the Gears of War 2 Flashback Map Pack. MTV Games did it with the 20 additional songs for Rock Band 2. Others will follow their example in an effort to discourage trade-ins, and eventually, someone will go too far and we'll see open warfare, like when GameStop sent back all of its non-pre-ordered copies of Warhawk because Sony started selling the game on Playstation Network before it was available at retail.

Sony and GameStop worked it out, though. GameStop and the publishers need each other too much to let this get out of hand, hence the uneasy detente I referred to. But as soon as publishers decide they don't need GameStop anymore, look out below.

These posts on used games have some rather radical ideas.  The thought that publishers might lock down content for subsequent purchasers seems disconcerting.  Though I can see the point.  The problem that they wil have to face is that any change will face derision  I know that they need to do what's best for them, though we should all get used to the idea that whatever that is it may not be great for us(read: consumers).

Right now I dont buy used games, but I'm sure that the only reason that I can buy as many new games that I do is because I'm usually trading something in when I go to pick up something new.  There so much heresay and rumor when trying to figure out how the elimination of the used game market would do that it hurts my brain to think about it to much.

I feel like right now so many things seem to be waiting for something.  Any body else feel that way?  LIke the other show is waiting to drop?
