It's always the surprise games from deep left field that end up getting me hooked, or free time I've found to invest in games from the psat that I hadn't touched on before or felt like re-exploring with my new found sensibility.

What this year has taught me, however, is that if there's a game that I'm taking interest in that isn't getting covered by the media, then I should keep tabs on it myself. Especially considering I'm likely part of the media haha. It's been a year that's taught me the value of independent games also, both through the Independent Gaming website and also through Xbox Live and PSN.

I guess this year, as an active participant in the industry and with the time I've had away from university, that more than ever you have to work for what you want. And the year has been one to teach that thinking laterally is really becoming the key to success. This has been evident in both games and reporting.

All said, I'm looking forward to seeing what Bethsoft does with Fallout 3, whether MGS4 can deliver and just how enjoyable free-roaming an interactive city in Burnout Paradise can really be. I'm also keeping expectations low at present for LittleBigPlanet and PlayStation Home but really want Sony to deliver on those fronts.

What else am I looking forward to? More intelligent writing from yourself N'Gai, you've been influential in making me think a little more about a wider variety of games and about the industry in general. So thank you for 2007 and bring it the *** on 2008!

Forever, \m/ ROCK! \m/ oh .. also .. being in Australia I'm STILL looking forward to Rock Bands release :|

On an unrelated note, N'Gai, maybe you can comment on the holiday software sales for the Xbox360 and the PS3. In particular, I have seen COD4 on sale for $38 no fewer than five different times between Thanksgiving and New Years (Circuit City, Best Buy, Target included)...I thought this GOTY was selling well - if so, do you think that is related to the numerous sales? Or has it been holding its own at $60?

Most of my gaming is done by bus, so I go portable whenever possible. I recently bought a Wii, so Brawl is another option.

It's exciting realising that the platform I bought into 2 years ago is finally finding its feet.

....also i think BigDaddyDW only thinks he's excited about 2008....more likely he's jazzed about 2009.
