If the "future of videogames" does indeed lie "in connected communities of networked gamers," then I believe Phil would of made a greater impact at Sony where he could have created the groundwork and platform for such a vision. Somehow I believe his visionary nature might of been secondary to why he left for Infrogrames -- secondary to money that is.

If you follow his comment in the last few months of his Sony life, it was evident that the attitude at Sony was that there was no future in "community", and that especially in Japan there was no interest in such gaming features. If anything its a sour point for Sony fans that they have lost Phil Harrison. I wonder who, if anyone, will take up his vision for the platform. It seems that perhaps his leaving is heralding the end of innovation and direction in Sony's online endeavors.

Please help us Developers! Your our only hope!

May I say, I'm not sure I've ever seen someone reference the Seeräuberjenny from the Three Penny Opera so much. You sir, seem to have an attachment to that particular work of Brecht's. Thankfully, it's a good one. I think Phil probably made the right choice, he wasn't going to be able to do much at Sony, not at this point anyways. I wish him all the success he can muster.

I think that leaving Sony was probably a good idea....but we'll have to see if joining up with Atari was the right play. I mean they have like one game on the docket this year. Also they lost the Dragonball liscense last year, though that last Wii game was a lot of fun. It will certainly be interesting what he intends to do with this little flounder in a sea of sharks. Hopefully something more then sell it to EA or something.
