The Envelope: Our Critics Call the Oscars

Sarah Ball

Last month, we brought you our Golden Globes critics' picks, in which NEWSWEEK's television and cinema gurus squared off to see who could correctly predict the most wins (Ramin Setoodeh and Joshua Alston took the honors on the film and TV fronts, respectively). Now, we've got a rematch of Setoodeh and his vanquished rival Devin Gordon--and there ain't much daylight between 'em. That goes with the times, though; very few of the awards pundits are predicting major surprises. Even this Envelope post, which loosely toys with some upset theories, calls the Best Picture race "all sewn up." For the sake of our attention spans on Sunday night, let's hope for at least one unscripted moment.

Meanwhile, if you want a hard-numbers take on how the evening might unfold, check out our piece on how to statistically game your Oscar pool.

my only interest here is A R REHMAN

HE IS NOMINATED FOR 3 AWARDS AND HE DESERVES THEM ALL NOT FOR SLAM TRILATERAL TURD

BUT FOR DOING SOME EXTRA ORDINARY WORK IN PAST

he composed fot the masterpiece DILSE -the mani ratnam classic with shahrukh and monisha -AND FOR DIL SE I CAN GIVE HIM MY HEART ITSELF

best regards to rehman

and yes i loved your work in meenaxi -bombay -taal -yuva -tehzeeb and even guru

you are the best even if you do some indifferent scores at times

you weave ingenious symponic scores that imprint in the subconcious of human conciousness and create mystique out of the tradition of sufi-ism and great pluralist designs of RUMI -

your SATRANGI AND AJNABI haunt me more then anything i have ever heard and they are so implacable and soothing yet provocative -you are a musical genius as you can invent in a time where recycling is the rant and you are the most resilient musical mind to grow in an age of reproductions and clonings

I'd really love to see Angelina Jolie win for Changeling, but I aggree with everyone else - Winslet's already got it.
