Not So Much

Photo, Fernanda Calfat/Getty Images. We're nearly halfway through New York's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. And so far, the most constant theme is the fashion world's continual obsession with Michelle Obama. Questions abound: Will she show up? (No.) But

re: Is Michelle Obama Diversifying Model Portfolios? Don't you take anything away from them Kurt as these girls should receive the same opportunities that the girls who are not of color have had all of these years. When there is an 'It' white girl, all of the designers use the same girl again and again for their shows - this is the culture. It is good and keeps the girl working.

The designer should use the same top black girls as they worked hard to get to the top! The designers can also use new girls but don't take anything from the top girls for their hard work. Photographers, designers, and editors love them for a reason - because they are good at what they do. It's not cut out for anyone - if so everyone would be doing it. So I say, "hurray" for these girls making their mark in history and they all deserve to be on top. Anyone trying to take that from them should be ashamed of themselves.

THE REAL STORY THAT NEEDS TO BE TOLD -

If you really want to talk about something - the real story is the lack of campaigns for these black girls. Editorial and runway just don't pay the bills for these girls. They don't get the big campaigns that the European girls get. So they are broke and barely making it in these expensive fashion capitals.

Another story idea? - How about the fact that American magazines don't support their models like the Brits do? It's embarrassing really.
