“There’s sort of been a tradition of having at least one person from the other party at the beginning of an administration in the cabinet. His commitment is to deepen that and to look even just beyond the cabinet, to try to bring people who agree with the direction that he wants to take the country and, regardless of party, to serve in the government.”

This is the recipe that others have followed, and it has led to minimal, curtailed and token efforts at bipartisanship. It's better to take the approach of Abraham Lincoln: embrace and appoint those who don't agree with you, while commanding their respect and allegiance.

As the new President and Vice President are choosing their cabinet(s), it is still important to keep in mind the other concerning manners happening not only with the United States but also around the world. The Global Poverty Act is an act that would help cut the global poverty/hunger in half by 2015 with the help of the Millennium Development Goal. The Borgen Project is helping to do their part by bringing attention to this fact. To find out more go to www.borgenproject.org!

You have to remember the old saying "The best way to rob a bank is to own it".

Only banks can loan money they don’t have and charge interest for it. Because the elite who own

the banks made it a policy that the bank can loan 10 dollars for every 1 it actually has.

That is what created the current financial mess or as they say problem with liquidity.

They created the problem by loaning money they did not even have to loan.

Dishonest usury is what it is.

Full disclosure of banking policies would be nice lets have it all put on the table for every one to

see just how corrupt they are taking food and housing from people who work hard while they sit

in there penthouses reading about bank bailout's. No don’t feel sorry for them feel sorry for the

people who are being crushed under there feet from the dishonest usury.

Most people had to give a down payment before 2004 for a home and if you where considered

risky you had to give a bigger down payment.

For example

on a loan of 180,000 with medium to low risk you would fork out 7000.00 to buy a home.

Now what does that translate into for the bank.

The banks can loan 10 dollars for every 1 dollar they have and charge interest for the loan.

win - win for the bank

1 = 10 for them right off plus interest

7000 = 70,0000 plus interest

then you have a payment of 750.00 or so with interest on the loan

750.00 = 7500.00 plus interest per month as you pay in for them

1 year of payments = 90,000 plus interest for them to loan to others.

so if you put 7000.00 down and finance 180,000.00 they get repaid in one year with a payment of

750.00

Sounds strange but remember 1 dollar is as good as ten to them for every dollar they take in they

can loan 10

So don’t feel sorry for them and bail them out. Bail out the public who just keeps paying not

knowing any better.

If you paid a down payment on your house and then you paid on it for even a year you paid it off

in the banks books.  30+ times over if you paid for 30 years.

After the first year they use your money to pay there salaries of 22 million for 22 days on the job what a joke.

President Elect Obama should look very seriously at Sheila Bair (presently Chairman of the FDIC) as his Treasury Secretary.  She stood up to Greenspan and others who said deregulation of the banking industry will do no harm. Just look at it now.  Plus I believe she is a registered Republican.

The new president can try to reach out to the GOP in Congress but he will find far more hostility there than he ever encountered on the campaign trail. The segregated and partisan districts throughout America that elect Representatives do not re-elect them for their moderation. They want war not peace. They want as much federal money for their districts as possible, but don't like to share. The new administration will learn quickly that the House contains the most dysfunctional family on the planet. The members don't play nice and they don't play fair and they don't play at all if they don't get their way.

Rush, Sean Hannity and FoxNews had me convinced Democrats and Liberals are not Americans, evil and going to hell while Republicans and conservatives are Patriots and good and going to heaven.  I am so confused now.  Ok, I figured this out myself.  This article is from the liberal Eastern elites (why do they hate freedom so much).

Well, just because our national government has been screwed up for so many decades, it doesn't mean that somebody might come in and straighten it out one day. I'm going to give them some time and see what happens. I remember how pleased I was when Bush came into office and it was said that he was a person who united factions adverse to each other. We looked up one day and had probably as divided a bunch of factions as the country has ever had. Half of our citizens were sneering and showing their middle fingers to the other half for most of the past eight years. They couldn't even agree on what brand of toilet paper to use. Loosen up everybody. Try to get along with each other.

This is a good move on obama's part. It will help to keep all sides happy.

It would seem that a bipartisan stantz could be maintained without offering positions to people who would do most anything against you while you are campaigning for office and then say it was all part of the game of politics when the campaigning is over and you won. Some of those people who come to mind are Joe the independent and Sarah the mouth. There is alot of untapped talent in our nation that has been silent. Widen the base of involved people. Do not use retreads .

You are full of it Dick.[having to take the word of a Clintonista for it,and forgetting to observe that your ''prominant Republican'',who remains in Obama waters as a possible economic team pick,Jim Leach, was the man who helped destroy GLASS-STEAGALL].Also see:

The Gramm-Leach-Billey Act 1999.

The newly elected Democratic Sanate and House Members have pledged to "Cross the Isle" They'll have to, the seats they took from the GOP are located there.

Do people really have to be so pessimistic? Give Obama a chance before laughing out loud. Also look at his record at the Harvard Law Review. He appointed more conservatives than he did liberals once elected. He though it important to appoint the most qualified people even if they didn't agree with his ideological perspective to bring a balanced well rounded view. Sure Obama will be the man in charge, but I believe the skeptics may be pleasantly surprised at how different this presidency will actually be run.

LOL!! Clinton and Bush said the same thing??

Posted By: copper454 (November 12, 2008 at 3:22 PM)

Both parties are bought-out by lobbyists and special interests beyond repair, anyway.

They may as well fuhq over America in a spirit of bipartisanship and goodwill.

Cool!  I hope he can keep communications going, so people can find common ground, and use compromise over confrontation.  A little pragmatism is just what the country needs right now!
