I am sticking with Kerry. You speak of management skills- just compare the Clinton campaign and its mismanagement to Senator Kerry's run. Kerry was our presidential pick- Hillary didn't make it out of the primaries. This talk against Kerry seems to be coming from Clinton supporters only. How anyone could throw Kerry over for Clinton- who brings nothing to this positon at all - is beyond me. Sorry, but I think this country needs and deserves more than a drama queen for SOS. We need someone with a military background, experience and well respected overseas. Clinton doesn't fill that bill- Kerry does. Give me a break- Manangement skills? If that is the litmus test, than Kerry has her beat.
How about Hilliary for Home land Security. That way she can keep track of Bill. I see a lot of clinton leftovers not many new and exciting Change agents.

Obamanauts
I think he's going to fool everybody with his cabinet choices...some of us readers hate it when you guys speculate
JANET NAPOLITANO - Just becaus she is Governor of a border state doesn't mean she cares about border issues. She only notices when it becomes politically expedient.
Arizona is lacking in leadership, at the top, when it comes to social services, education, health services, and law enforcement. They can only do so much.
I doubt Obama will give the Secretary of State cabinet slot to Hillary. It is too powerful for one thing and for another Bill will be sticking his nose into it. Obama needs to be wary of the Clintons (as if he doesn't know that!). Also, he will be losing his one positive among many conservatives if he gives the State job to Hillary, namely that he got rid of the Clintons!
Well, not completely rid of them and he needs to keep the fences with them mended. I would suggest that he give another cabinet post to Hillary, Secretary of Health and Human Services. This is right up her alley given her heath insurance coverage concerns. And I doubt this post would hold much interest for Bill. So Obama can kill a few birds with one stone in appointing the Hillcat to HHS!
Yes to Hillary - and 18 million people have a smile on their face, knowing their voices can also be heard.
Already talks about "maybe a MAN from a minority group can be President next time"..... Always about men, isn´t it - and race before gender.
People forget that half the population - if not more, are females!!???
You NEED a pant suit in there, Barack - so have courage!
She is extremely competent and hard working, a well known and liked names throughout the world. A BIG ADVANTAGE pick.
You go, girl!
Camacs: you need to do your homework. President-Elect Obama's birth certificate has been posted on his campagin website for months now. Born in Hawaii. You do realize that you must be a naturalize citizen before you can run for President don't you? That means if he wasn't an American born citizen he could not run for the office of the Presidency.
Camacs, check your facts. You do not need a birth certificate to get a drivers license. A passport will work. But that is beside the point, you can't be serious about your insinuation...that he is not an American. Pure silliness (and ignorance).
Well before anything else Obama should disclose his birth certificate. For an ordinary citizen to even get a driver's, he or she must show their birth certificate, much less the president of the United States.

Please Please save us from Robert Kennedy. He is an illiterate Crank. Knows no science and wouild be an embarrassing disaster.
If Obama selects Hillary Clinton for any position in his cabinet - he is NOT nearly as smart as I gave him credit for being. She stated he was not "qualified" to be President. She either BELIEVES that or she is a profound liar - either way she can not be trusted to be loyal.
As long as Barack Obama does not select a rotund belly in his cabinet, I would be most happy.
Pot bellies and overweights do not look intelligent to me: they look more like gluttons with stuffed beer bottles.
Unlike with these chickenhawks, who have all but turned their backs on our veterans, including Ms. Duckworth, who made major sacrifices for our country, only to be ridiculed by a bunch of 4F, draft dodging, chickenhawks, lusting for wars that somebody else has to fight, and then largely ignoring our kids when they come home shattered.
I hope she is appointed. Godspeed to her and all of our veterans and their families, from all of our wars. They've more than earned whatever our government can do to help them, whether with injuries or further education or home loans, or just having somebody to talk to who understands what they have to live with everyday from their combat experiences.
The realization that a large number of our miltary families depend on welfare to survive while one of the spouses is in theater, is a national disgrace.
Support Ms. Duckworth for Secretary of Veteran Affairs. And once again, we can show honor to the men and women who have given us so much, only to be left with so little in return.
With Tammie Duckworth as V.A. Sec. , veterans would be assured of getting what they need & deserve!
Nick---Both Gen. and Mrs. Powell are deeply committed to education. It is almost the general's sole public purpose in recent years. He speaks passionately on the need for better, and earlier education amongst our young people as a solution to tommorrow's problems.
He would be an excellant choice for Secretary of Education, given both his commitment and passion in regards to education. How refreshing, a national figure who wants to actaully improve public education, instead of manipulate it down to its lowest common denominator.
I agree he would be an excellant Secretary DoD, however, given his age, he may not want the massive time commitment required by the DoD post. Meetings start at 4:00am for top dog at DoD. It's a brutal pace.
rexy--don't you think these fear-mongers would literally and figuratively flip out if somebody explained to them that supply side economics IS a marxist form of economics? LOL.
How's everybody's supplies working for them now? Ever heard of inventory tax? Tomorrow, look at the carlots of your local car dealers, and then tell them that supply side economics is the way to go!
Monetary Policy is expressed by the equation: M * V = P * S . Supply side focuses on the P (production) in the equation, just like every communist country in existence that hasn't yet been reformed. LOL. Btw, real capitalist countries focus on the (M*V) side of the equation to create the environment for the right side of the equation, thereby allowing free enterprise to define (P*S).
So, in short, Reagan was a commie! LOL.
Pot meet kettle. Hahahahahaha. Karma can be a bitch. This latest crop of supply siders forgot that for their marxist theories to work, you have to have S (SALES) to burn off supply. So not only are they marxist, they are dumb marxists to boot.
"SALES? Who is needed for that to work? OMG, not those reprobates from the middle class. OMG, the shame of it all. How are we ever going to have GOP utopia if we have to tolerate the middle class?"
National dilemma defined now. No more excuses. Time to fix this 30 year run of crapola.
wow that's a whole lot of big names to match Obama and his beautiful intentions (http://www.spinwhip.com/obama) but a bit random perhaps! Collin Powell for education??? Surely he should be in defense or something like that? Anyway he's a good man and it would be fantastic to have him on board, I just don't see how he would be competent in education -and this is a big part of Obama's campaign, so he's gotta put someone serious here.
rexy/rjh45 You are exactly correct, except that Marx wrote in the 19th century. 1848 was the date of the Communist Manifesto. There really never has been a communist country, Marx imagined the state withering away, kind of like the Libertarians do today (at least a few of them, you're always on dangerous ground positing what Libertarians believe, they are so factious.) What most of the righties call communism - Leninism and Maoism, Marx would disown. As for all the ultra-leftist babbling, the US really doesn't have very many ultra-leftist, Bernie Sanders being the closest thing America can claim as a leftist in national office. That really pales in the face of say, Italy, which has an active national communist party. What the RepubliCONs want to call socialism is anyone that doesn't have the true religon of unregulated markets and unfettered captialism, in other words a kind of basterdized Libertarianism. It remains to be seen, at the onset of a huge failure of Gordon Gecko captalism, whether that religion can survive, I'm hoping it won't. I mean there is something fundamentally wrong with an economy that institutions that merely move money around, financial services, as opposed to companies that really manufacture products make 20% of the corporate profits. For any righties that might want to learn what Marx really said, there is an excellent overview here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Marx. I doubt there will be many takers, but you never know.
Just to clarify a factual problem in the last comment - Karl Marx did not live in the 15th or 16th century. He lived from 1818-1883 and published the Communist Manifesto with Engels in 1848 among other works. He was really a philosopher first and foremost, esp. in the German Left-Hegelian tradition which sought to understand history based on class conflict and labor. He was responding to the results of the Industrial Revolution (esp. in England) and was particularly interested in the means and mode of production and the alienation of labor in which you lose ownership of the product of your labor and sell your labor itself. I'm not a fan of Marx (and not at all of later Marxism) but I think it is worth understanding his ideas in their context.
Dear Mr.Frog Sir,
Oh ye, of such ignoble and illuminous mind, one so talented by such a rapier wit, given to bouts of rumination into areas of subject matter so old, yet so far away, have indeed incorrectly attributed source to aforementioned illiteration as it were, forever and a day, as it was not Karl of underlined brothers Marx, who so pined, it twas brother Groucho, who, upon being told of a coming wise man named McCain, who came before people to ease of their pain: "That man never met a woman's purse he didn't like". Herein, lies the nature and true theory of "redistribution of wealth", from many women's purses to the wallet of Sir John, hero at large, and prisoner of his own mind.
In regards to redistribution: Suckling from all teats at once, so as to ensure his brothers have none, ideed, a republican meme at its core. Greed have no mother, like a suckling pig bound not to share, one with another.
Here, thinking of you:
FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
And so it goes...
Enjoy your trip through the wild and wonderful wilderness. Don't forget to pack bug spray. If you bump into Sean Hannity, staggering madly through the woods hollering into a bullhorn, during your mutual time in the Great Outdoors, tell him we all said "Hey Spongebutt Squarehead, the UN Black heliocopters are coming for you!".
Have a nice day.
point and set. match goes to rjh45. You idiots have never read any Marxist principles, it just happens to be a carry over buzz word from the election. Marx had nothing, yes NOTHING to do with the progressive tax system. This "redistribution of wealth" idea didn't really "hit the scene" so to speak until AFTER the turn of the century and Marx wrote his founding principles in, what, the fifteenth or sixteenth century (I am not a history scholar, so I may be wrong!). Now, calling Obama a Rooseveltist (lol) would more likely be more accurate, but who is looking in the past anyway (oh yeah, you dumbass conservatives). Center-right nation...pssh-ah
You do not need to be a lawyer to be on the Supreme Court.
Dear Frog Prince,
I am always astounded by people bringing up Karl Marx in this context. My guess is that you have never read Karl Marx because if you had, you would understand that what Obama is proposing has absolutely nothing to do with Marxism. Marx was not concerned with 'redistributing wealth'. He wanted workers to own the means of production (i.e. the companies they work for and all the equipment necessary to produce goods). What Obama wants to do is get rid of the tax cut that Bush gave the wealthy. Taxing people on what they make can only be done within a capitalist environment and cannot be possible within a Marxist economic framework.
Please, please, please, be informed before you spread these ignorant statement. Maybe you can get some of that cheaper education Obama is talking about, take some economics or sociology courses and read Marx before you make these ridiculous statements.
One more observation then I'm off to bed. Only someone who is somewhat widely read would pick up on the following. It got played down, or was entirely ignored during the campaign. That has to do with "the redistrivution of wealth." That wasn't exactly an original Obama thought you know. John McCain was gentleman enough not to pounce on him about it but I'm not running for President so I'll tell you where it comes from. Karl Marx, remember him, kinda coined the phrase in his manifesto. He advocated the redistribution of wealth to take from the haves and give to the have nots. As history has shown us, it was pretty much a failed experiment. It is such a novel socialist ideal though. How novel that Barak thought it up, but he didn't.
Hillary on the Supreme Court? Never. It's well known she never passed the D.C. bar exam. This can't be in her favour. When asked about that, she conveniently, as usual, forgot she had taken the exam. Does a lawyer ever forget a bar exam they have sat for?
I wish Obama could leave Hillary out of the Cabinet.
You're right igbird, they bought into an entirely different set of lies.
Unfortunate, but probably true, is the fact that this administration which will come into being will be the most left of center circus this country has ever seen. The pieces of the puzzle begin to appear with a new Congress with Nancy Pelosi, as the Speaker of The House, and Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader, chomping at the bit to pull the strings of their inexperienced, junior Senator from Illinois sliding into the White House to be their whipping boy. It's similar to a light weight jumping into the ring with a heavy weight. If he doesn't do what they say and want he's gonna got his butt whipped. He knows this too.
Watch as he fills these cabinet seats with people whose ultra-left wing credentials are impeccable. Even though he said he wasn't going to raise the average American's taxes, watch as who the average American is redefined. The income level has already been sliding downward. Or did you not notice? What's amazing is that the majority of the electorate bought into the political rhetoric of someone whose advisors paid close attention to opinion polls with question top loaded by the liberal media and then fed the information to him so that he could continually shift his story and position to fit those opinions. Maybe you didn't notice that either. He might have had you so entranced with the word "change" that anything else became secondary.
So now you have what you asked for. Just adjust to the fact that you were lied to and given pie-in-the-sky economics to satisfy your desire for "change." Only a complete idiot would think you can spend 8 trillion dollars in additional spending and not raise taxes across the board. Any economist with even a lick of sense would scoff at that notion. America you're now like Toyota - You Asked For It You Got It - Oabama.
Just fasten your seat belts as we depart for a REAL economic disaster driven by the ultra-liberals. After all folks, it was pointed out during the campaign that Barak Obama was in the midst of this crowd. Centerist? He used poll data to present that facade to get your vote middle-of-the-roaders. Centerist? Doubtful and he's about to show you he isn't, Moderate? Hardly. Watch his picks.
Janet Napolitano for Homeland Security (currently a top candidate for attorney general) is a giant step down from Chertoff, mukcasey or even gonzalez.
Her appointment to either one of those cabinet seats would be like sucessfully dodging a few live bullets shot at you.
She has been fair in AZ in my opinion, except when she signed on with Chertoff for the National ID card.
Dont think she would encourage torture, but she might fall sucker to advanced interogation technics ? (For your safety of course)
She turns a blind eye to illegal immigration, and doesnt really cause any political attention to herself as far as Ive seen in AZ under her governor rule.
Just be happy Lieberman or Lindsay Graham or some other hardcore globalist isnt inline for those positions.
Didnt know she was that highly respected for her lawyer abilities or security practices.
Surely there is no security on the AZ border of any significance.
She supported gay marriage, just ask her girlfriend, lol
If you want to know whats about to happen, look at Illinois. The governor, and Obama share the same "political teacher" Emil Jones. (Jones will be named as Obama's replacement in the senate) Our governor has the driven this state straight down. That is where Obama is going to take us.
Sorry for the negativity, sometimes the truth hurts
Really greenlover05? Why on earth do you decide mrbill88 is a redneck living in the middle of nowhere - Don't you drive? Idiots live everywhere in this country! Yes he is prbly a racist or at the very least an anti-islamite but don't stoop to his level by showing your prejudice against people with his feelings - else your just as bad. Not all rednecks are racist and not all racist are country bumpkins, many live in the cities, even NYC and DC
While I don't agree that Obama is a Muslim (wake up Dude, he's a Cristian) the evidence is beginning to come alive, with his appointment of Robert Reich as his economic advisor. I saw Reich on MSNBC a few days ago telling "us" what we need to do, and he was clearly labeled at the bottom of the screen as Obama's economic advisor. Yet, in my various searches of the internet I cannot find anything to confirm this.
Hopefully, it was just some wishful thinking on the part of the liberal media but if it is true, then I have to wonder where Obama's administration is headed. It will certainly NOT be along the center-line.
Just watching Robert Reich talk, his eyes glowing with tax-and-takover ideals, makes me want to...well you know.
Oh, Mr. Obama, PLEASE add Mr. Colin Powell to your cabinet!!! He would be such a fine, well-educated and well-rounded person for ANY position available to him!!! (I was kind'v hoping HE'd be the choice for Sec. of State!!)
Go new Dem. leadership!! YEAAA!
P.S. I'm glad that for ONE election period, people didn't automatically buy-in to the ridiculous LIES that the some of the RADICAL GOP TERRORISTS tried to ply this time around!!!
Ok so she will be able to answer the phone at 3am
But I'm confused how this would work - during the primaries she was against Obama's desires to diplomatically engage antagonist countries, against a more invasive Pakistan policy, and even some of his Iraq policies. Now, he's going to hire her to be his chief proponent of these things - How on Earth will that work. Obama needs a SOS with a mind of their own NOT one with an agenda (does anyone really believe Ms Clinton has reduced her political ambitions already?)
I wish Hillary would try to make a comeback, and if rumors are correct she would run against Palin. Boy what a circus that would be. One is just as dirty a fighter as the other. They would tear each other apart from stem to stern. Hillary would probably be very good for the Obama cabinet, but I don;t think Secretary of state is the position he should offer her, maybe he should think about Health and human services since she is so much into the health and welfare of all the people that she preached about in her campaign. Maybe she could make good on her promise to leave no child behind.
ok, mrbill...you are blatantly a racist. i dont understand how anyone could possibly think such terrible things about a person, let alone the soon-to-be president of the united states. he is not a muslim, how hard is that to understand. and even so, who said all muslims are terrorists? you must be redneck from the middle of no where... come to nyc or dc and see how people treat you when you speak like that.
Facts are facts and the fact is there is nothing that will change under this muslim cause he cannot, will not change anything. His hopes have been tried and failed or this country will be in worse shape then they are now. That is why we are the leader of the free world and he not understand anything. If he has a problem "I WILL DEBATE HIM ON THIS" since this is his favorite saying, with no solutions; just talk. I debate him on how he will accomplish anything and democratic congress is speeding things up to one up him anyway b4 he gets into office. Barry, admit you are over your head and resign your election. Recall is coming soon.
Hillary for homeland security . She needs all the help she can get to watch Bill.
I guess this is the change from Washington that this all he can do candidate has promised? Sounds like all the other hoopla. He can start his regime by throwing his aunt out of the country back to Kenya where she belongs talaga! Next up is it too late too start the recall now of this guy whose election is an insult and embarrasment to the world? He has goofed once already and will continue to do so! Since when do christians change their name from Barry to Barack and where did the Hussien come from anyway? This guy is a muslim and he needs to suspend all foreign aid now cause we need the pera($$$$) for our own good. This guy never should have been considered for the job and he reminds me so so much of Bill. I got the Job now what do I do?
I have no idea how anyone could consider Hillery for the Suprem Court. The lady has absolutly no judicial experiance! If you were upset with McCain picking Palin because she had no experiance, this should just drive you over the cliff.
Since the Obama people keep a tight lid & don't leak unless they want to (Rahm E), my bet is that it will be Hillary, that she has already accepted & that the supposed rumor is designed to stir up buzz on the weekend, especially the talk shows. Also, Reid is unlikely to step down in quite a while, so her replacing him is unlikely.
I doubt that Hillary would give up her Senate career to become a cabinet member. She's in line
to become Senate majority leader if Harry Reid should step down, and that's a mighty powerful
position to be in if she decides to run for President in 2016. Bill might be a better pick for Sec.
of State.
When you look at the list their are none worth a peice of xxxx
I think Hillary is a great choice. She is a brilliant and strong wise woman. She'll do great...Stop hating...it doesn't help anything.
Hillary should be head of home land security that way she can keep track of Bill
I am worried about the economy. Today I watched George Soros. He is a big buddie of the liberial side of the Deomcrat party His Move on .org group spewed out hate towards McCain and his policies.Soros is the largest hedge fund manager in the world and he helped bring down soveral of the largest investment/banking houses in the nation thus triggering the economic chaos.
George Soros Democrat liberal
Funds democrat liberal racea;
Brings downfall of the Dow Jones and S&P everyone panics
Economic problems cause people to drift from McCain
Thus Obama wins
Globalist Soros buys major state in Walmart.
What does all his mean??????
After hearing that Obama is seemingly serious about offering Clinton the Sec. of State position, I had the same perplexed, music-ending-by-bumping-the-needle-off-the-vinyl-record reaction I had when McCain actually chose Palin as his running mate.
WTF?
I have read this and a few other blogs on President elect Obama's cabinet members and I have to say that some of the comments about Senator Clinton is ludicrous. However, I do agree that she may be best suited for the Supreme Court or the Dept of Health & Human Services since that was one of her focal points during her campaign. I also believe that having a bi-partisan cabinet would do more good then bad since we are trying to unite our country.
Everyone seems very keen on Hillary at State, but not me. I don't think she has the demeanor, myself. And why would she want to leave the senate to do that?
PingBack from http://clinton.bestpoliticalblogs.co.uk/2008/11/14/the-latest-buzz-111408-edition/
Only two quibbles: Hilary as Secretary of State - too divisive, and we don't need Bill running loose around the rest of the world, and Howard Dean for HHS - bad idea to put a doctor in charge, like asking the fox to guard the henhouse - try finding a nurse for HHS if you want someone who does a good job of patient advocate, but at any rate, not a doctor. Someone with public health experience would be better yet, and of course, Hilary would do well at HHS.
