To joyful704: Just to clarify, the "stereotype" does not apply to all enlisted wives either. I have been married to an enlisted man for 17 years. I too have a college degree and had a career prior to having children and making the choice to be a SAHM. We did not have our first child until I was 32 and our second child was born when I was 35. Many of the enlisted wives I know are college educated and have pursued careers before starting their families. In addition, I know several active-duty military members who are enlisted and hold a college degree. Education is not exclusive to officers and their wives. Perhaps you should do a little more research before *you* offend the families of the enlisted personnel who are also doing their part to serve and protect their country.
You obviously did not do your research when you classified military wives as "largely young stay-at-home moms who've completed their own families before they hit 28." I am a military wife, I am 29 and my family is not yet complete. I have a college degree and I had a career before my children were born. My choice to "stay at home" with them has nothing to do with my husband's profession. If you want to talk stereotypes, then you need to distinguish that your stereotype applies to enlisted military wives simply because they are younger and their husbands "enlist" before they pursue college. Military officers have a college degree hence many of their wives do as well, also making them older than 28 before they complete their families. Please do a little more research before you offend the families of the very people that are protecting your freedom for such shoddy journalism.
