…and what proof do you have? Obama’s “good” word?
Knock out indeed.....
TBH
"Brave, shrewed leaders." Hamilton knew this was needed to make our government work. Back in his time there were statesmen who cared about the right thing for the country. Today there are politicians who care about the right thing for the next reelection. Rather than statesmen attempting to sort through all the complexities to find the right legislation for the betterment of the nation, we have politicians checking voters' polls and special interests' support for the betterment of reelection. When ever reformers get into congress, the rest of the members refuse to work with them. Due to his obvious commtment to the naton , McCain has been able to shake things up yet still survive and fluorish. In Obama's short tenure in government, he has only toed the party line. McCain is the closest thing I have seen to a statesman in government.
As you have said, we could really use some leadership. We voted in the Democrats and they have control of both houses . They could vote in the bill and just go home. Instead they want the Republicans to sign on with the Bush-Paulsen plan even if they don't agree with it. Margret Thacter once said that consent the absence of leadership. Is it Barack Obama who says that the Bush economic policies have drove us to destruction. we is he in such a hurry to endorse this plan and defend Bush against the Republicans? Dare I say a vote for Obama is a vote for four more years of the Bush economic policy?
I thought Obama had stopped the waters from rising!
............................In the debate McCain went to his Aces, playing his "Military Expert" Card...........Militarism has been John"Military Man" McCain's bread and butter that got him into Congress and moved him along during 26 years with support from the Right Wing Veterans Groups and those who benefit from military buildup expenditures to the maximum. We do not need to glory in war and militarism and do not need to elect a "Military Man" with a family background of militarism and a long resume of being a War Guy.......we need a Wise Leader to give us a well run and respected Country in the modern world we live in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I watched the entire debate last night.
How is John McCain supposed to stare down America's enemies when he couldn't look Senator Obama in the eye?
Jim Lehrer told them to talk to each other.
So, Senator Obama turns and faces John McCain but John looks straight ahead...like he was afraid to look at him.
The McCain campaign can try to spin this any way they choose, but for the "Average Joe" it didn't look Presidential.
If it turns out that John McCain is medically ill, I'll forgive him...I think...
Howard lets hear about the CRA..Community Reinvestment Act and how many people were given home loans that should never had been given. Lets hear how many thousands Barney Frank was given by Fannie Rae people. Lets hear about Bush trying to tighten up the regs in 03 and 05...but guess who turned it away...Dems and Frank and Dodd and Schumer et al.
But Im guessing this infor does not fit yours or your overlords "Narrative' that your are going to go with.
Well , thats OK Howard. We have our very own media outlets now. So it wont stay still.
Things have changed now.
Howard, are you sure you have the time to do a blog? After all you & the rest of your colleagues haven't found the time to report that the Senators & Congressmen rigging the financial bailout are the same crooks who caused the mess. I don't recall you reporting that Dodd,Schumer, O'bama,Barney Frank etc. colluded with Raines, Gorelick, Jim Johnson,& buddies to cook the books & cause the meltdown of Fannie & Freddie. These same people were in up to their necks in Countrywide Mtg. collapse. I wonder how many of the media got advance notice of what was coming, so that they could pull their money out of the market before the prices declined. You are all untrustworthy shills for O'Bama. The MSM are all partisan lying hacks.
I will watch the debate tonight, but I don't expect big things from Sen. McCain, but come November 4 I do not believe that the American people will elect a black man to the White House.
Just what the tubes need another page for Barakarama pom-pom shaking, shake em Howard, you da man.
Only one area of disagreement. The baby boomers aren't even close to giving way. We are 45-65 years old and will remain the most powerful generational force in the country for a long time to come. That said, I don't think we are either better or worse than any other generation -- each responds to the social and world situation as handed down to them by the previous generation. The post-boomers will have to deal with us for many more years.
Glad to see you're going to be reporting daily - I look forward to your incite on this very bizare and scary time in this country's history. The craziness doesn't stop ..... seeing the ads today from the McCain campaign that he'd won the debate floored me.....if his campaign organization is indicative of the kind of administration he'll run, there is little hope for any of us! Obama may not be the ideal candidate (I still believe the best candidate was Senator Clinton) but he is intelligent enough and calm in a crisis and astute enough to listen to the most experienced experts in all fields. But it's going to be a wild ride!!!!
