Well, the election is over. While I agree with your analysis in general, Earnings and Taxable Income from the Tax Tables are two different things.
Taxable Income is after all deductions, so it is safe to say that those taxpayers with the corresponding Taxable Income in your analysis could have substantially higher Earnings .
Your conclusions, nevertheless, are accurate.
Thia is in response to ocky (or something like that) from last week how emphatically denied taxes would go up for everyone if the Bush tax cuts are allowed to expire. I'm sorry that the tables don't line up, but you can certainly see what is really going on.

Senator Obama's Four Tax Increases for People Earning Under $250k
By Ned Barnett
I confess. Senator Obama's two tax promises: to limit tax increases to only those making over $250,000 a year, and to not raise taxes on 95% of "working Americans," intrigued me. As a hard-working small business owner, over the past ten years I've earned from $50,000 to $100,000 per year. If Senator Obama is shooting straight with us, under his presidency I could look forward to paying no additional Federal taxes -- I might even get a break -- and as I struggle to support a family and pay for two boys in college, a reliable tax freeze is nearly as welcome as further tax cuts.
However, Senator Obama's dual claims seemed implausible, especially when it came to my Federal income taxes. Those implausible promises made me look at what I'd been paying before President Bush's 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, as well as what I paid after those tax cuts became law. I chose the 2000 tax tables as my baseline -- they reflect the tax rates that Senator Obama will restore by letting the "Bush Tax Cuts" lapse. I wanted to see what that meant from my tax bill.
I've worked as the state level media and strategy director on three Presidential election campaigns -- I know how "promises" work -- so I analyzed Senator Obama's promises by looking for loopholes.
The first loophole was easy to find: Senator Obama doesn't "count" allowing the Bush tax cuts to lapse as a tax increase. Unless the cuts are re-enacted, rates will automatically return to the 2000 level. Senator Obama claims that letting a tax cut lapse -- allowing the rates to return to a higher levels -- is not actually a "tax increase." It's just the lapsing of a tax cut.
See the difference?
Neither do I.
When those cuts lapse, my taxes are going up -- a lot -- but by parsing words, Senator Obama justifies his claim that he won't actively raise taxes on 95 percent of working Americans, even while he's passively allowing tax rates to go up for 100% of Americans who actually pay Federal income taxes.
Making this personal, my Federal Income Tax will increase by $3,824 when those tax cuts lapse. That not-insignificant sum would cover a couple of house payments or help my two boys through another month or two of college.
No matter what Senator Obama calls it, requiring us to pay more taxes amounts to a tax increase. This got me wondering what other Americans will have to pay when the tax cuts lapse.
For a married family, filing jointly and earning $75,000 a year, this increase will be $3,074. For those making just $50,000, this increase will be $1,512. Despite Senator Obama's claim, even struggling American families making just $25,000 a year will see a tax increase -- they'll pay $715 more in 2010 than they did in 2007. Across the board, when the tax cuts lapse, working Americans will see significant increases in their taxes, even if their household income is as low as $25,000. See the tables at the end of this article.
Check this for yourself. Go to http://www.irs.gov/formspubs/ and pull up the 1040 instructions for 2000 and 2007 and go to the tax tables. Based on your 2007 income, check your taxes rates for 2000 and 2007, and apply them to your taxable income for 2007. In 2000 -- Senator Obama's benchmark year -- you would have paid significantly more taxes for the income you earned in 2007. The Bush Tax Cuts, which Senator Obama has said he will allow to lapse, saved you money, and without those cuts, your taxes will go back up to the 2000 level. Senator Obama doesn't call it a "tax increase," but your taxes under "President" Obama will increase -- significantly.
Senator Obama is willfully deceiving you and me when he says that no one making under $250,000 will see an increase in their taxes. If I were keeping score, I'd call that Tax Lie #1.
The next loophole involves the payroll tax that you pay to support the Social Security system. Currently, there is an inflation-adjusted cap, and according to the non-profit Tax Foundation, in 2006 -- the most recent year for which tax data is available -- only the first $94,700 of an unmarried individual's earnings were subject to the 12.4 percent payroll tax. However, Senator Obama has proposed lifting that cap, adding an additional 12.4 percent tax on every dollar earned above that cap -- and in spite of his promise, impacting all those who earn between $94,700 and $249,999.
By doing this, he plans to raise an additional $1 trillion dollars (another $662.50 out of my pocket -- and how much out of yours?) to help fund Social Security. Half of this tax would be paid by employees and half by employers -- but employers will either cut the payroll or pass along this tax to their customers through higher prices. Either way, some individual will pay the price for the employer's share of the tax increase.
However, when challenged to explain how he could eliminate the cap AND not raise taxes on Americans earning under $250,000, Senator Obama suggested on his website that he "might" create a "donut" -- an exemption from this payroll tax for wages between $94,700 and $250,000. But that donut would mean he couldn't raise anywhere near that $1 trillion dollars for Social Security. When this was pointed out, Senator Obama's "donut plan" was quietly removed from his website.
This "explanation" sounds like another one of those loopholes. If I were keeping score, I'd call this Tax Lie #2.
(updated) Senator Obama has also said that he will raise capital gains taxes from 15 percent to 20 percent. He says he's aiming at "fat cats" who make above $250,000. However, while only 1 percent of Americans make a quarter-million dollars, roughly 50 percent of all Americans own stock – and while investments that are through IRAs, 401Ks and in pension plans are not subject to capital gains, those stocks in personal portfolios are subject to capital gains, no matter what the owner’s income is. However, according to the US Congress’s Joint Economic Committee Study, “Recent data released by the Federal Reserve shows that nearly half of all U.S. households are stockholders. In the last decade alone, the number of stockholders has jumped by over fifty percent.” This is clear – a significant number of all Americans who earn well under $250,000 a year will feel this rise in their capital gains taxes.
Under "President" Obama, if you sell off stock and earn a $100,000 gain -- perhaps to help put your children through college -- instead of paying $15,000 in capital gains taxes today, you'll pay $20,000 under Obama's plan. That's a full one-third more, and it applies no matter how much you earn.
No question -- for about 50 percent of all Americans, this is Tax Lie #3.
Finally, Senator Obama has promised to raise taxes on businesses -- and to raise taxes a lot on oil companies. I still remember Econ-101 -- and I own a small business. From both theory and practice, I know what businesses do when taxes are raised. Corporations don't "pay" taxes -- they collect taxes from customers and pass them along to the government. When you buy a hot dog from a 7/11, you can see the clerk add the sales tax, but when a corporation's own taxes go up, you don't see it -- its automatic -- but they do the same thing. They build this tax into their product's price. Senator Obama knows this. He knows that even people who earn less than $250,000 will pay higher prices -- those pass-through taxes -- when corporate taxes go up.
No question: this is Tax Lie #4.
There's not a politician alive who hasn't be caught telling some minor truth-bender. However, when it comes to raising taxes, there are no small lies. When George H.W. Bush's "Read my lips -- no new taxes" proved false, he lost the support of his base -- and ultimately lost his re-election bid.
This year, however, we don't have to wait for the proof: Senator Obama has already promised to raise taxes, and we can believe him. However, while making that promise, he's also lied, in at least four significant ways, about who will pay those taxes. If Senator Obama becomes President Obama, when the tax man comes calling, we will all pay the price. And that's the truth.

THE GREAT BUSH DEPRESSION
I follow an economist named Bob Proctor. He has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.
He perfectly predicted the current meltdown and the picture he paints about what will happen next
is terrifying. He thinks it will be worse then the great depression.
The banks in the U.S. are going under one after the other. Countrywide ,Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch , Fanny and Freddy Mae ,AIG
The government took them over because they are bankrupt. Even with the goverment nationalizing hundreds of billions of dollars in debt the stock market is crashing
the credit markets are frozen and all of us may suffer beyond anything seen in generations
McCain just like Bush " doesn't understand the economy".
That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it but he does not understand how its been broken.
It is no surprise that he doesn't. The people that make up these securities use quantum mathematical models very few people understand.
Bush and McCain both can take the credit for this mess since they helped deregulate the laws that were protecting us.
Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.
Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy. He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.
No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He was the last to know somthing was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Check out this link to the truth http://my.barackobama.com/keatingvideo
It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this nightmare. As bad as Bush has done, McCain would be
even more destructive because things are in much worse shape. The next president will not inherit a budget surplus like Bush did but a crashing economy and a 11,600,000,000,000 (trillion) dollars deficit. Most of it Bush created and it will take decades to pay it back.
If you do what you have always done then you will get what you have always got.
When it comes to policy Bush and McCain are the same 90 percent of the time.
So why are the polls even close then ?
Mccains team just said they no longer want to talk about the economy.Instead they would like to spend time talking about obama
which means running the biggest smear campaign in history.
They think they can just tell you lies and you wont be smart enough to see through it
Let's teach him we are smarter than that
Stand up and hold them accountable
Bush isn't on the ballot this year but his policies are

corn is just another invented issue.
All the group does is register new voters . They pay people 8 bucks a hour a help people
fill out registration forms and then turn them in. By law they are required to turn in ballots people fill out that dont seem credible. But they seperate them from the normal ballots and inform election officials when they turn them in. As a example If somone fills out a ballot that says donald duck they still have to turn that ballot in , but since there really is no donald duck and no one to show up and vote with a id that matches that registration on election day . It will have zero effect on anything and all this is is a waste time
Also all ballots acorn marks as fishy are also investigated and checked against state records to make sure they are real people if not they are thrown out.
Its has no effect because no one can vote without proper ID
So unless the gop thinks there are imaginary people to go along with with throw away ballots then
lets move on to something that matters like the fact we are going in to the next great depression,
and that mccain says he doesnt understand the economy
How about we talk about the war, the national debt <11 trillion>, The housing market, the job market, health care, global warming.
Are things so great we need to invent issues like acorn ?
or is it the gop has no answers to the mess they have created in the last 8 years?
Let talk about things that will improve our lifes and not something no one cares about.
And lets throw out the poeple that created this mess
they dont deserve a chance to make things worse
Please vote early election day will be a mess

Obama in this video, addressing his community activist work and his work representing ACORN in litigation against the banks and relating to the Community Reinvestment Act, and addressing the failure of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae as those actions relate to the destruction of our economy by causing the current real estate and subsequent financial crisis, states that, and I quote:
"Subprime lending started out as a good idea, helping Americans buy homes who previously could not afford to. Financial institutions created new financial instruments that could securitize these loans, slice them into finer and finer risk categories, and spread them out among investors and around the country, as well as around the world. In theory, this should have allowed mortgage lending to be less risky, and more diversified."
Acknowledging the catastrophe, but as apologist for the Democrats, Obama then offers this justification.
"The original idea was a good one, which was, lets see if we can distribute risk more broadly, and make it easier to provide loans to people who otherwise might not be able to get one."
Yah, great idea. Economically unsound, but embraced by Obama. Listen for yourself. You cannot dispute the mans on words recorded live:

According to CNN, even Arizona is now a toss-up state. How humiliating for Senator McCain. He put his campaign and his reputation in the hands of common liars and crooks, and Sarah Palin is making an ass of him. Her rallies today did not have his name on any of the signs, banners or literature. And the website listed on all the lit was www.GOP.com. Ouch!
As an Independent, without party preference, I look for the ticket that can solve the many and severe problems we have. McCain and Palin have consistently given every indication that it very likely can’t be them. Sarah Palin seems simply a personification of the Republican Party at its worst; she comes across as arrogant, aggressive, grossly dishonest, totally self focused and boldly irresponsible, besides being largely unqualified. John McCain states he wants more tax cuts for the wealthy and large corporations with the intention to follow the ‘trickle down’ theory that we know doesn’t work (more money for those who already spend all they want does nothing but make the wealthy wealthier and stimulate campaign contributions). Their ineptness at even identifying the core realities of the problems clearly indicates there can be little hope in their solving anything. Then when once putting aside their deceptive and changing rhetoric and recognizing their commitment to the ideology and their loyalty to those who have constantly supported Bush-Cheney, it seems impossible to expect anything but more of the same from them. To go around yelling that they are ‘Mavericks’ for ‘change’ and that they know how to do things, with only generalities stated and their over use of the ‘I’ pronoun, doesn’t justify any real confidence in them. All they continually offer is an effort to hide behind dishonest scare and smear tactics and once in office, if they were near as low-class as they have been when campaigning, then we would just have another catastrophe comparable to / worse than Bush-Cheney. McCain and Palin conveniently disregard their own intent to continually force the wealth upward and accuse Obama-Bidden of wanting to be Socialistic and ‘spread the wealth’. Obama says he wants to have significant focus on the now neglected middle class, which then would actually stimulate the economy and benefit everyone, including the wealthy. Obama has consistently demonstrated a real comprehension of the problems, a commitment to stay high-class, to have real solutions, to be able to make decisions and to be presidential, including encouraging cooperation and respect, something that has been lost over the last eight years. We desperately need real change and just can’t take more of the same.
You think you know Sarah Palin and John McCain? Think again.

Its a race because the truth is leaking out. In the exchange with "Joe the plumber" Obama unintentionally revealed that he really is as radical as his early political acquaintances, Davis, Ayers, Wright, etc., (gee, there sure seem to be a lot of them) and that he is into the failed economic policy of wealth redistribution. Now there is absolute proof. In 2001, Obama, the "community organizer" turned legislator, said in an interview:
"And I think one of the tragedies of the civil rights movement was that the civil rights movement became so court-focused, I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and organizing activities on the ground that are able to bring about the coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change, and in some ways we still suffer from that,"
Obama's tax and spending plans alone would be bad enough, but add Reid and Pelosi to the mix, with the three of them controlling both houses of Congress and the executive branch without any effective restraint, and you have something that should causes concern even among moderate Democrats.
See Wall Street Journal: A Liberal Supermajority:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122420205889842989.html
Indeed, some democrats are publically saying as much. See Barney Franks comments on the news, including face the nation last week, stating essentially that Democrats in Congress intend to greatly raise taxes and go on a spending spree.

Obama's ill-conceived programs will require him to tax, and his health care plan alone is a substantial hidden tax on all business, large an small. In reality, it does not really matter who he taxes, those taxes are going to be passed through the economy. He has to tax, because it is they only way he can pay for his massive social engineering experiments. Any first year economics student knows that taxation is a tool used to contract an economy experiencing inflation, because it reduces demand by reducing the amount of money individuals and businesses have to spend. It is contractionary, which is exactly what you do not want to do when the problem is that the economy is contracting already into recession. Like Hoover and FDR, Obama's plans will only make it worse for longer.

Obama and a supermajority of Democrats simply is not the change we need, nor is it change we can afford.
, Sarah takes all the money she can from federal tax earmarks, hires a lobbyist to get more, and repeatedly tells the electorate that she told Congress "no thanks" on The Bridge To Nowhere, but in fact she took the federal tax funds that were earmarked for it.
So, she wasn't distributing federal tax funds, 'cause she put THOSE FEDERAL TAX FUNDS into a DIFFERENT POCKET from the pocket from the funds she distributed to Alaskans.
I bet those federal tax funds she didn't REDISTRIBUTE are actually different dollars than the ones I paid for federal taxes.
Part of the money she distributed came from her raising taxes on the oil companies. The oil companies had to recoup those higher taxes through higher gas prices. I'm also certain that none of the dollars I spent for higher gas prices, were included in the dollars Sarah redistridistruted to Alaskans.
And since she gave those dollars to all Alaskans, it's not true that she took money from some and gave it to others.
I see. That's really, really, really different, now that I understand. According to "Nowforthetruth" that's not REDISTRIBUTION, that's capitalism.
I see...
A 40 year republican
"Nowforthetruth" recently made this posting: "Nins, all you prove is that you have perpetual PMS and cannot read. If you are as careless in your practice, you are a danger to your profession."
You reveal too much of yourself "Nowforthetruth".
"Nowforthetruth" also continues to keep repasting postings that suggest that the root cause of our problem is a law decades old that encourages loans to qualified low income people. "Nowforthetruth" is part of the spin/propaganda machine, and continues to repeat well known deceit.
Alan Greenspan stated recently that the problem was not anything like that. Rather, he stated that an entire financial system was built outside of regulation, and 'we trusted' these self-interested looters to regulate themselves. Credit Default Swaps were the result.
Credit Default Swaps increased from $106 trillion in '02 to $531 trillion under the R stewardship. No regulation.
While there are several variations of a viral email that tries to blame a few thousands of political donations to some Democrats, the actual, legitimate news has reported that Fannie and Freddie paid many millions to Republican lobbyists to lobby Republicans to PREVENT REGULATION.
McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis, received up to $35K/mo. from Fannie and Freddie from 2000 to present, to lobby Rs,only, against regulation. Freddie has paid Rick Davis while he has been McC's campaing manager. Freddie donated $250k to the R convention.
These facts are everywhere in the legitimate news. You can start at http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/22/us/politics/22mccain.html and http://www.newsweek.com/id/164732/page/1 There's much more legitimate news on this.
Trillions were looted from our economy because the Rs allowed it. It is inescapable that the Rs, most prominently McC's campaign manager, were in the pockets of big money while they drove the buss off the cliff with us in it.
You can try to distract people with fears about 'those guys'. Lies, distortion, deception. 'Socialist' is only the last in a long, now desperate, list of labels you have tried to pin on 'that one'. That's all you have left.
Is your most recent reposting here directed to fears about "Socialism", or is it just innuendo, or are we trying to fold in a little racism too?
I've got an idea, since we have no more ideas, let's keep running our campaign on fear, smears and hypocrisy.
Keep talking "Nowforthetruth", you're really helping. You keep demonstrating that we all have to vote against lies and propaganda and attempts to hijack our political process with deceit. Your actions are the kinds of reasons that I'm voting for Obama after 40 years of never having voted for a Dem.

Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. (Look 'em up if you want).
Chicago school system rated one of the worst in the country.
This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois . And he's gonna 'fix' Washington politics for us?
Wake Up America !
FUN QUOTES FROM PALIN
I got all of these quotes off of google quotes
You really couldn't make up this kind of stuff up if you wanted to
This all part of the reason why so many important republicans have been saying she
is a joke
When asked about her foreign policy experience she said
"As Putin rears his head," she said, referring to Russian prime Minister Vladimir Putin, "and comes into the airspace of the United States of America, where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border."
TELLING THE TRUTH FOR A CHANGE SHE HAD THIS TO SAY ABOUT HER RUN FOR VP
"It's time that normal Joe Six-Pack American is finally represented in the position of vice-presidency"
WHEN ASKED TO NAME ONE SUPREME COURT DECISION AND NOT BEING ABLE TO SHE CAME UP WITH THIS ANSWER
"I'm in that sense a federalist, where I believe that states should have more say in the laws of their lands and individual areas"
when asked again to name one decision she responded
"Well, let's see. There's -- of course -- in the great history of America rulings there have been rulings"
When asked about being a redneck she said
"Someone called me a `redneck woman' once. You know what I said back? `Thank-you very much.'"
when asked what promises she might not be able to keep
"How long have I been at this, like five weeks? So there hasn't been a whole lot that I've promised, except to do what is right..."
Talking to dobson about prayer she said
"It is that intercession that is so needed and so greatly appreciated," Palin told Dobson. "And I can feel it too, Dr. Dobson. I can feel the power of prayer, and that strength that is provided through our prayer warriors across this nation."
When asked about being a environmentalist she originally said
"I'm not an Al Gore, doom-and-gloom environmentalist blaming the changes in our climate on human activity."
when asked again later if she thought people had a impact on global warming
"Show me where I have ever said that there's absolute proof that nothing that man has ever conducted or engaged in has had any effect or no effect on climate change,"
asked about voting she said
"I truly believe that the wisdom of the people will be rebuilt on [Election Day]. As they enter that voting booth, they will understand the stark contrast between the two tickets,"
when asked how mccain did at his first debate
"I just thought he was great, because the American people are angry, and John McCain is angry, too
when asked about tina feys imitation of her she said
"I watched it with the volume all the way down," Palin said. "I thought it was hilarious."
IS SHE KIDDING IS THIS WHOLE THING A JOKE
IS IT REALLY POSSIBLE SOMEONE COULD BE THIS CLUELESS
SOMEONE THAT THINKS THEY COULD RUN THE COUTRY NOW LESS
VOTE OBAMA BIDEN NOW AND SEND HER BACK TO ALASKA
Barack Obama and his o r c s set out to dishonestly belittle and smear a private citizen who made him look bad by asking a tough question. In all intellectual honesty, I could never vote for someone who behaves so cowardly and who is suported by constituents who act in such a cowardly manner. That is one of the many reasons I voted for John McCain.
As for Mr. Obama's supposedly calm demeanor: a little nicotine goes a long way
10 Concerns I have about voting for Barack Obama which I agree with that are stated in this article: http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MzQ4YTY4YjQyMzRjYjA5MGZlNDBiZTkwYmEyODg5NTc=
1. Barack Obamas foreign policy is DANGEROUS, NAÏVE, AND BETRAYS A PROFOUND MISREADING OF HISTORY. Washington Post reported: European officials are increasingly concerned that Sen. Barack Obamas campaign pledge to begin direct talks with Iran on its nuclear program without preconditions could potentially rupture U.S. relations with key European allies early in a potential Obama administration. Barack Obamas stance toward Iran is as troubling as it is dangerous.
2. Barack Obamas Iraq policy will hand al-Qaeda a victory and undercut our entire position in the Middle East, while at the same time put a huge source of oil in the hands of terrorists.
Obamas post-invasion analysis of Iraq is anything but credible or consistent, leading one to even GREATER DOUBT ABOUT HIS STRATEGY AS COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF. When President Bush announced the SURGE strategy in January 2007, Barack Obama OPPOSED IT, saying it would not prove to be one that changes the dynamics significantly, and that the Presidents strategy will not work. Of course, the SURGE IS ONE OF THE GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS IN IRAQ SINCE THE INITIAL MONTHS OF THE INVASION, and is has reversed much of the loss suffered since the invasion. Beyond these miscalculations and poor judgment on Iraq strategy, Obama has been anything but consistent on Iraq.
3. Barack Obama has sent MIXED, CONFUSING, and INCONSISTENT MESSAGES on his POLICY TOWARD ISRAEL. Barack Obama told an audience at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee: Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided. The NEXT DAY, Obama backtracked, stating: Obviously, it is [Jerusalem] going to be up to the parties to negotiate a range of these issues . . . and Jerusalem will be part of the negotiations. Which is it, Obama?
4. While his Mideast policy may have been the QUICKEST TURNAROUND or flip-flop on a MAJOR ISSUE, it is not the only one. In the primary campaign, Barack Obama consistently campaigned AGAINST NAFTA, but has since CHANGED HIS TUNE, as he HAS WITH OTHER ISSUES. During the primary, Obama sent out a campaign flier that said: Only Barack Obama consistently opposed NAFTA, and called it: a BAD TRADE DEAL. He also said NAFTA was devastating, a big mistake; and in what the Washington Post labeled as a unilateral threat to withdraw from NAFTA, Obama said: I think we should use the hammer of a potential opt-out as leverage.
NO LONGER. Barack Obama backtracked on NAFTA and said, I am NOT A BIG BELIEVER IN DOING THINGS UNILATERALLY. I AM A BIG BELIEVER IN OPENING UP A DIALOGUE AND FIGURING OUT HOW WE CAN MAKE THIS WORK FOR ALL PEOPLE.
(Continued from my post above - 10 Concerns I have about voting for Barack Obama which are stated in the continued article from above )
5. Barack Obamas judgment about PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS is more than troubling
6. Obama is simply OUT OF STEP WITH HOW TERRORISTS SHOULD BE HANDLED; he WOULD TURN BACK THE CLOCK on how we fight terrorism, USING THE FAILED STRATEGY OF THE 1990S AS OPPOSED TO THE POST-9/11 STRATEGY THAT HAS KEPT US SAFE. The most recent example is his support for the Supreme Court decision granting habeas-corpus rights to terrorists, including - theoretically - Osama bin Laden. When the 5-4 Supreme Court decision was delivered, Obama said: I think the Supreme Court WAS RIGHT. His campaign advisers held a conference call where they claimed the Supreme Court DECISION was NO BIG DEAL according to ABC News, even if applied to Osama bin Laden, because a judge would find that the U.S. has ample grounds to hold him.
In a recent interview, Obama stated: What we know is that, in previous terrorist attacks - for example, the first attack against the World Trade Center - we were ABLE TO ARREST THOSE RESPONSIBLE, PUT THEM ON TRIAL. They are currently in U.S. prisons, incapacitated. And the fact that the administration has not tried to do that has created a situation where not only have we never actually put many of these folks on trial, but we have destroyed our credibility when it comes to rule of law all around the world, and given a huge boost to terrorist recruitment in countries that say, Look, this is how the United States treats Muslims. [end quote]
Ask the legal officials during the 1990s just how cowed terrorists were by our continued indictments against them. Or, witness the bombings at the African embassies, the attack on the USS Cole, or the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. NOW, ASK YOURSELF why we have NOT BEEN ATTACKED since 9/11, and, even more specifically, why there have been NO SUCCESSFUL ATTACKS AGAINST AMERICAN CIVILIAN INTERESTS ABROAD SINCE 2004.
7. Barack Obamas ECONOMIC POLICIES WOULD HURT THE ECONOMY. As Kimberly Strassel recently put it in the Wall Street Journal: Mr. Obama is hawking a tax policy that would take the nation back to the effective marginal tax rates of the Carter days. He wants to FURTHER TAX INCOME, PAYROLL, CAPITAL GAINS, DIVIDENDS AND DEATH. HIS PHILOSOPHY IS PURE REDISTRIBUTION.
8. Barack Obama opposes drilling on and offshore to reduce gas and oil prices.
9. Barack Obama is way to the LEFT of NARAL on the issue of life. As a state senator in Illinois, Barack Obama voted against the Induced Infant Liability Act, a law that would have protected babies if they survived an attempted abortion and were delivered alive.
10. Barack Obama is actually to the LEFT OF EVERY MEMBER of the U.S. Senate.
According to the National Journal, Sen. Barack Obama was the most liberal senator in 2007.
Obama camp expected a tightening of the race. Well good. . . cuz it is definitely happening.
Neos - are you a black woman or a very large blonde white woman?
Ooooh, Neos - you are in love!
Poor little Wendy! George Bush is Hitler. A similiar scenario with all of of osama's litle cohorts.
Despite his promise, John MCCain has run a negative campaign. His cave-in to the far right of his party and his choice of Palin as his attack dog further exacerbated the ugliness in a campaign run by Rove disciple Steve Schmidt. It should come as little surprise that the politics of fear, demonization and divisiveness would be portrayed negatively in the mainstream press.
Another word for Mainstream is normal. The attempt to smear and villianize the free press has been one of the most disgraceful aspects of the McCain campaign. Fox is a biased network, as is MSNBC in the evening, and neither qualify for mainstream. The mainstream media is for and reflects the values of the other 95% of normal people. To denigrate our free press for political gain is reprehensible. One doesn't have to listen to the rantings of a Sean Hannity to know about Senator Obama negatives. Wright, Ayers, Rezco, etc, etc. have gotten their play and those who rely on normal media have been informed of it ad nauseum. The invented indignations and baseless innuendo spewed out by Fox are deservedly ignored by the normal center of the population. TheAmerican public are smart enough to make a judgement and they have. John McCain has been found lacking not because of some media conspiracy, but because of realities of our current poitical and economic situation. To attack the mainstream media is to attack mainstream America. That is why John McCain is losing, his campaign and its alliance with Limbaugh and Fox has become an assault on mainstream values.
The GOP's biggest fear is not that Obama is a black radical muslim socialist, but that he will in fact be a great President. That would mean the next Republican President to feel the sunshine on his face in the Rose Garden would be a LONG LONG way off!
So, they bring up all the same old crap out of the basement, without even bothering to check out the truth. Here are the answers to all the Obama smears using various trusted non-partisan sources. Investigate for yourselves before believing anyones version of the facts.

How to bring down a democracy: the steps toward totalitarian rule, in the order followed by Hitler and the Nazi Party…SEE IF THEY DON‘T SOUND FAMILIAR.
1. Improvise an attack (or take advantage of an attack) on the country
2. Declare the country under attack by an enemy; real or improvised
3. Force legislation that limits civil liberties and gathers broad powers unto government
4. Brand dissenters and peacemakers as unpatriotic and browbeat them into submission
5. Keep the fear factor high to make the public easier to manage
6. Institute massive propaganda campaigns using state-controlled no-longer-free media and fear of government retribution
7. Law enforcement and government personnel are used to spy on, control and break dissent 7. Institute the equivalent of a national homeland security department, overseen by one person with unlimited powers
8. Confiscate all firearms from the citizenry
9. Institute the mass murder and imprisonment of any who resist the new ideology.
10. Launch pre-emptive strikes into other countries in an attempt to spread the new ideology
Sound familiar? It should, its not only the direct path of Hitlers rise to power, but also parallels the events starting with and following 9/11. President Bush was very familiar with the game plan, as his Grandfather and his Grandfathers father-in-law were supporters of Hitler and Nazism, both before and after the war.
Of course, theyve skipped a couple of the items on the list, but theyll get to them if theyre allowed to remain in power, because it will be the only way for them to retain power.

THE BEST REASON TO VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA THIS ELECTION YEAR.
Study finds Media has Betray Trust of American People
Newsweek Article:
Study: Media coverage has favored Obama campaign
Study finds comments on evening newscasts over the past two months favored the Obama campaign
"For whatever reason, the media are portraying Barack Obama as a better choice for president than John McCain," said Robert Lichter, a George Mason University professor and head of the center. "If you watch the evening news, you'd think you should vote for Obama."
http://www.newsweek.com/id/165218
"A former Newsweek reporter admitted in an article this week that he has no objectivity and imagined disabling Rudy Giuliani so he wouldn't run in the presidential primary race last year.
Michael Hastings wrote in GQ magazine that he had a "recurring fantasy" that he could somehow stop the former New York City mayor in his tracks.
"I quickly realized Rudy was a maniac. I had a recurring fantasy in which I took him out during a press conference (it was nonlethal, just something that put him out of commission for a year or so), saving America from the horror of a President Giuliani. If that sounds like I had some trouble being 'objective,' I did. Objectivity is a fallacy," he said."

October 31, 2008 12:27 PM ABC Reports:
The Obama campaign has told three reporters they have to drop off the campaign plane this weekend. All three work for papers that endorsed Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.: the New York Post, the Washington Times, and the Dallas Morning News.

Barack Obama's campaign killed all interviews with a Florida TV station after Sen. Joe Biden, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, faced tough and critical questions from a reporter at the Orlando station, the Orlando Sentinel reported .
"This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election," wrote Laura K. McGinnis, Central Florida communications director for the Obama campaign, according to the Sentinel.

Wake up people. McCain can not compete with a public who wants change.
Vote Obama/Biden.
This comment was worth reposting its not mine but you should read it
Fact (http://www.census.gov/csd/susb/2005/usst05.xls): Firms with 20+ employees employ 81.6% of Americans.
Fact (http://www.bea.gov/newsreleases/national/gdp/2008/pdf/gdp208f.pdf page 12): The average reported (i.e., tax-basis) profit-per-employee is approximately $12,450 (divide the 2005 pre-tax corporate profits - $1,447.9B - by 2005 total employees - 116.3M).
Fact: $12,450 x 20 = $249,000.
Fact: Obama will raise taxes on corporations and small businesses with more than $250,000 in profit ($150,000 on sole-proprietorships where the owner is unmarried and/or has no dependents).
Fact: Approximately 65 - 70% OF ALL AMERICANS work for a company that will be subjected to Obama's tax increases (when the spread of corporate profits per employee is accounted for).
Please note also that these are 2005 numbers, since 2006 and later numbers are not available for firm size yet. Regardless, based on productivity numbers, the average profit(tax basis)-per-employee in 2008 will be HIGHER than $12,450.
Do any of you honestly believe that the result of your employer having its taxes raised is a wage INCREASE, or a benefits INCREASE, or enhances your ability to find a job if you're unemployed?
Do any of you honestly believe that INCREASING taxes on American corporations makes them LESS likely to move jobs overseas?
Do any of you honestly believe that INCREASING taxes on American corporations makes our exports CHEAPER?
And that long-scoffed at "tax loophole" for companies that ship jobs overseas (namely, the ability for the company to pay taxes on profits earned abroad at the host country's rate)? That tax "loophole" was intentionally written into the law when corporate income taxes were first enacted in 1909.
The reason?
Allowing companies to base a PORTION of their business overseas in order to be able to compete against foreign companies minimizes the risk that the entire company will ship itself overseas. This is so critical that it EVEN SURVIVED THE EXTREME PROTECTIONISM OF HOOVER DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION.
Yet Obama wants to eliminate this provision.
Let me ask all of you Obama supporters an honest question:
How is it possible that RAISING taxes on American corporations will make us MORE competitive or in any way provide an incentive for keeping jobs in the US?
McCain's approach: Minimize the incentive to ship jobs overseas by cutting the top marginal tax rate to 25%. This makes it CHEAPER to operate in America. This LESSENS the incentive to move overseas.
Please stop drinking the Kool-Aid.

Honestly, looking at McCain and Obama objectively (without any party affiliation or any racism) I really can't see why anybody would vote for McCain. Obama has offered a much more coherent plan to get America out of the economic disaster we are in.
Right now, most people are anxious about the economy, fearing the worst but hoping for the best.
Reality check: within 18 months YOU could be standing in a bread line. That's how bad it really is. And Obama will work actively to prevent this short term, as well as make us strong again long term. As much as I like McCain and admire his patriotism, he really is not up for the job, not now with the global markets falling apart.

Hey John,
I have give you some advice and you took it. Let's see if this works: for the weekend talk about No Child Left Behind and how you will totally revamp it. Keep some points but do away with anything that could not be done in the real world.
Vote Obama. This could be the best chance for needed change Americans have had the opportunity to participate in decades. Obama has changing his views on Abortion again, so we don’t know whether he is a baby killer or not. The surprise is coming.
To tax or not to tax is going to be a great surprise. Obama and his people are not going to tax anyone who makes less than 250 K a year or was that 200K or150K. We could ask Buffoon Joe. The surprise is coming.
What will not be a surprise is, Obama voted for tax increased over 70 times in his SHORT political career. What also won’t be a surprise is when he continues that record that is so well established. Is he going to target you or me? We will see.
Ask yourself; “How many terrorist friends have I made casually or otherwise?” Obama has made a bunch of devious friends and associates by accident and the big surprise is he’s going to share them with you and me. Yes, you need to vote for Obama so we can see the needed change of terrorist running free. It has been so very boring since 911 that our Government has kept us safe. Hell, if we would have had a few more Ayres attacks we wouldn’t have had to listen and watch so many political infomercials from our good friend Barack. You may copy and paste this and email it to all your friends and associated.

Acorn is just another invented issue.
fill out registration forms and then turn them in. It will zero effect on anything and all this is is a waste time
It not fraud and no one can vote without proper ID
So let move on to something that matters like the fact we are going in to the next great depression
Can we talk about the war, the national debt <11 trillion>, The housing market, the job market, health care, global warming.
Let talk about things that will improve our lifes and not something no one cars about.
And let though out the poeple that created this mess
.
Comment: Obama has 63 Nobel Laureates working on his policy team. They are developing a plan to push America back to the top. Who is responsible for McCain's planning? Americans would be shocked to find that Douglas Holtz-Eakin is the sole person responsible for planning McCain's policy for America's future. Holtz-Eakin is also McCain's economic advisor, filling two full time positions on McCain's team. How can one single man (an economist) be responsible for developing a viable technology plan for our future? Obama has an enormous pool of the most intelligent, talented men and women in America working for him. Soon, they will be working for US.
And let's not forget that the McCain campaign spent more on Palin's makeup artist than it did on it's foreign policy advisor. When you pay your makeup artist DOUBLE what you pay your foreign policy advisor, it is time to start examining your PRIORITIES.
You look just fine without makeup, John. And Sarah is young enough not to need any. So cut the crap, and start paying some good ECONOMIC ADVISORS so you can have a fiscal plan to present to America. We're in the middle of a huge global financial meltdown, and you are worried about hair and makeup? PLEASE start worrying about the middle class, John. Please.

McCain Financially supporterd Khalidi and is now trying to tie Obama to Khalidi, though McCain himself was Closely tied to the Palestenian and backed him withover 400,000 $$$
------------------------------------
The McCain camp gambit comes after conservative writers have repeatedly pressed for media outlets to write about the rather tenuous connections between Obama and Khalidi, an outspoken advocate for Palestinian rights.
Specifically, National Review writers want much more attention paid to the association, given that the LA Times has reported that Khalidi lavished praise on Obama at a farewell party in Chicago at which Bill Ayers was also present. (Other writers have accused Khalidi of being an aide to Yasser Arafat, a claim which Marc Ambinder and Ari Berman have suggested is not credible.)
In regards to Khalidi, however, the guilt-by-association game burns John McCain as well.
During the 1990s, while he served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI), McCain distributed several grants to the Palestinian research center co-founded by Khalidi, including one worth half a million dollars.
Big Note: A 1998 tax filing for the McCain-led group shows a $448,873 grant to Khalidi's Center for Palestine Research and Studies for work in the West Bank. (See grant number 5180, "West Bank: CPRS" on page 14 of this PDF.)
The relationship extends back as far as 1993, when John McCain joined IRI as chairman in January. Foreign Affairs noted in September of that year that IRI had helped fund several extensive studies in Palestine run by Khalidi's group, including over 30 public opinion polls and a study of "sociopolitical attitudes."
Of course, there's seemingly nothing objectionable with McCain's organization helping a Palestinian group conduct research in the West Bank or Gaza. But it does suggest that McCain could have some of his own explaining to do as he tries to make hay out of Khalidi's ties to Obama.
OBAMA PUFFS UP HIS LEGISLATIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN HIS COUNTRY I LOVE AD:
In Obamas first ad (Country I Love) he goes on to tout his legislative accomplishments - claims that do not stand up that well under scrutiny. In order to establish his bona fides as a POLITICIAN WHO CARES about WORKING FAMILIES, Obama CITES his success with THREE RELEVANT bills. But he does not mention that TWO of the three pieces of legislation WERE ACTUALLY PASSED by the ILLINOIS SENATE, NOT the U.S. Senate. Obamas campaign tells us that when he says:
I passed laws moving people from welfare to work, he is referring to the bill
http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/legisnet90/summary/900HB0204.html
that created Illinois Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program in 1997. (But) Obama was ONE OF FIVE ORIGINAL SPONSORS of the bill, which set limits on public assistance and required welfare recipients to outline plans for moving into the workforce. The LAW that CUT TAXES for working FAMILIES is a 2000 bill
http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/legisnet91/summary/910HB3939.html
on which Obama AND 35 OTHERS were LATER ADDED as COSPONSORS, instituting an earned income-tax credit for the state. BOTH BILLS affected ONLY ILLINOIS RESIDENTS.
The ONLY NATIONAL LAW in Obamas ad is the ONE THAT EXTENDED HEALTH CARE for wounded troops, and ITS DUBIOUS WHETHER he [OBAMA] can claim full responsibility for that one.

which became public law 110-181 in 2008 http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=110_cong_public_laws&docid=f:publ181.110.pdf
. . . . includes provisions from several Obama sponsored bills. His ideas made it into law, but OBAMA was NOT a SPONSOR or CO-SPONSOR of H.R. 4986 itself.
Finally, it has always been our position that it is MISLEADING when a member of a legislative body says that he or she PASSED A LAW, CUT TAXES or makes any SIMILAR CLAIM TO SINGLE-HANDED LAWMAKING. It takes more than one legislator to get these things done. In addition to the sponsors and the cosponsors, sometimes dozens of them, the bill needs the support of a majority in both houses. Usually, a governor or president needs to then sign a bill into law, unless the legislature comes up with a veto-proof majority.
So for OBAMA to say that he passed a law casts him as a legislative Lone Ranger, HOGGING CREDIT THAT PROPERLY BELONGS TO OTHER PARTIES AS WELL.

BIASED JOURNALISM...
Obama says his campaign has no ties to Acorn ya say?
US News & World Report :
"Former ACORN Employee Says Obama Provided Donor List
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports, "A fired staffer for an affiliate of" ACORN "testified Wednesday the organization was provided a 'donor list' from" Obama's campaign "in late 2007 for fundraising efforts. Anita Moncrief, a former Washington staffer for Project Vote, which she described as a sister organization of...ACORN, said her supervisor told her the list of campaign contributors came from the Obama campaign." The Philadelphia Inquirer adds Moncrief "gave a scathing, though at times vague, assessment of ACORN and its efforts to go into battleground states and help mostly minorities and the poor register to vote for the first time. The group, she said, barely trained its workers in how to register voters properly, and would fire employees if they did not meet a quota of 20 new voter applicants daily."
http://www.usnews.com/usnews/politics/bulletin/bulletin_081030.htm
Obama in this video is campaigning at a convention of Acorn and I believe two other Community Activist's organizations less than a year ago, in December 2007. Ask if he will be their ally if he becomes President and pledge to meet with leaders of Acorn and the others in his first year, Obama, who we are told has no contact to Acorn (another lie), not withstanding the $800,000 his campaign paid an Acorn group during the primaries, says, quote:
"Yes, but let me say that before I even get inaugurated, during the transition, we are going to be calling all of you in to help us shape the agenda."
See and hear it for yourself. Obama promised that Acorn and other groups like it will setting his agenda if elected even before he is inaugurated:
The link below describes how some Democrats in Congress tried to use the original version of the bailout bill to divert money eventually recovered to groups like ACORN, a group Obama has a long association with. See:

What you won't hear from this campaign or this party is the kind of politics that uses religion as a wedge, and patriotism as a bludgeon -- that sees our opponents not as competitors to challenge, but enemies to demonize." – Barack Obama, June 3, 2008
As I have said " If Obama were white there would be no question who would win the election. Win or lose Obama is the best man. He's young enough, intellagent enough, has the best running mate, Has run an honorable campaign, talked more about his plans for the whole country. if you don't know where he stands it is because you don't believe him. he has been forthcoming. McCain is another sad story.Republicans should be mad as hell. they come up with the worse excusses for a terrible campaign. the only reason for McCain to still be in the race, is "RACE".The guy is a total jerk, irratic, dilussional, angry and not qualified to lead.Every privillaged step he has ever taken has been a failure. This campaign brought out that so plainly, yet he may still win, kind like GW.

McCain Camp Buses in 4,000 Kids for Ohio Rally
A local school district official confirmed after the event that of the 6,000 people estimated by the fire marshal to be in attendance this morning, more than 4,000 were bused in from schools in the area. The entire 2,500-student Defiance School District was in attendance, the official said, in addition to at least three other schools from neighboring districts, one of which sent 14 buses.

Billtill, are you comparing a college GPA sytem with a nations economic system? Well here is one for you: 50 million Americans that have no health insurance and many more that have "insurance" that doesn't cover crap. Personally, I think it is shamefull that a country this rich doent take care of its citizens.
Here are the answers to all the Obama smears using various trusted non-partisan sources. Investigate for yourselves before believing anyones version of the facts.
Is Obama's brother really dirt poor in Kenya and living on a dollar a day?
After hearing McCain and Obama speak, after watching Palin and Bidden and after noting the RNC and DNC positions it is hard to understand anyone having any doubt as to what the right choice is. Unless someone was active in the Republican Party or extremely wealthy, and even then, it is hard to imagine anyone being able to rationally justify voting for McCain-Palin. Their arguments are empty as they only offer unfounded and exaggerated scare and smear tactics that are easily debunked with the truth, while on the issues they just state generalities, heavily embedded with the I pronoun, without any specifics or substance or even any real hope. In contrast, Obama clearly states his positions with detail and defines his objective as being to benefit the middle class, which then ends up benefiting everyone, while he concentrates on we, us and you. The difference is obvious as being a McCain-Palin rationalized ‘more of the same’ focus on benefit for Special Interests and a select few, arrogantly and deceptively pursued or with Obama-Bidden in finally turning things around and really focusing on straightening out the economy, ending the war in Iraq, putting al Qaeda out of business and addressing our many and drastic domestic problems and needs, to the benefit of everyone. McCain and Palin are stuck having to patronize their major supporters and then they just can’t do anything for the majority of Americans, can’t do anything but ‘more of the same’. McCain wants very badly to be president before he retires and Palin just wants all of the attention she can get, for both of them it is just all about them. No doubt that Obama has an ego too but his seems to be strongly motivated to make a positive difference and with Bidden being much the same.
Father/daughter talk...
A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other words, redistribution of wealth.
She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.
One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father.
He responded by asking how she was doing in school.
Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend, and didn't really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.
Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Audrey doing?" She replied, "Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over."
Her wise father asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA."
The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, "That's a crazy idea, how would that be fair! I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!"
The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, "Welcome to the Republican party."
If anyone has a better explanation of the difference between Republican and Democrat I'm all ears.
Calling Obama "savior" and "messiah", a baby-killing muslim socialist black radical anti-Israel celebrity eliteist corporate shill. Oh my, the conservative base is becoming desperate and hysterical!

WILL AMERICA PUNISH ITSELF ON NOV 4TH WHILE TRYING TO PUNISH BUSH
Surely the Bush Administration needs to be punished in the woodshed, but I fear that the America electorate will only PUNISH ITSELF on Nov 4th by a MAJOR OVER-REACTION.
WILL AMERICA BE SMART ON NOV 4TH OR WILL IT PUNISH ITSELF WITH NEW LEVEL OF 15 "DARWIN AWARDS"?
1) A President and Congress that will want to dramatically raise taxes $2-4 Trillion to 2) Pay for a major new welfare state for 40% of US through 3) Extremely expensive new goverment health care programs like in Europe 4) New government education programs like in Chicago 5) Major cuts in defense spending 6) New taxes for 401(k)s, capital gains, death taxes, payroll taxes that would 7) Drive businesses to offshore 8) Reduced employment due to higher business costs 9) Surrender around the world as a military power to be more like Europe 10) Invite rough nations and leaders to test/attack America or America interests and allies around the world 11) Loss of the war on terror 12) negotiations, increased weakness, and capitulation with countries like Iran, N. Korea, and Russia 13) new social engineering laws and Supreme Court Justices for 14) Dramatically increased abortions 15) Dramatically increased gay marriages
You may have had a chance to see a video in which Sean Hannity of Fox News tries to paint Senator Barack Obama as anti-Israel on the grounds that he knows Prof. Rashid Khalidi, currently the Director of the Middle East Institute at Columbia University.
Here are a few things that Hannity hides from us in this video:
Hannity does not tell us that the “Arab organization” that Khalidi founded is the Arab American Action Network, which was established to provide economic and social support to Arab immigrants in Chicago. He does not want us to know that the organization works with the Illinois Department of Human Services and its case managers to provide interpretation services specifically intended for Arab-Americans in Chicago who receive public benefits.
Hannity does not tell us that the Woods Fund for which Obama was a director provided funding to the Arab American Action Network in order for it to help the struggling Arab immigrant community in Chicago, and that the Arab American Action Network is one of hundreds of organizations which the Woods Fund supports. The organizations supported are as diverse as the Chicago community, and they include the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs, an organization that is “dedicated to combating poverty, racism, and anti-Semitism.” Read more about organizations supported by the Woods Fund.
Hannity does not tell us that Khalidi and Obama were both professors at the University Of Chicago, because this might reasonably cause us to suspect that their relationship is one of former co-workers and does not involve any instance in which Obama endorsed or agreed with Khalidi’s views.
Hannity does not tell us that he does not have any evidence to back up his claim that Khalidi used to be a paid employee of the PLO when it was designated a terrorist organization. He says only that Khalidi was “allegedly” a member of the PLO. As reported by CBS News, “Khalidi says he was never employed by the PLO; he has been a harsh critic of Palestinian suicide bombings and a longtime supporter of a two-state solution.”
Hannity does not tell us anything about Daniel Pipes, the man who speaks about Obama in the segment. He does not tell us that Pipes is the subject of controversy over his plans to speak at an event organized by Pastor John Hagee, who said that God sent Hitler to create the Holocaust so the Jews would have to go to Israel. Read Pipes’ statement on the Hagee issue.
In short, Hannity’s segment about Obama and Khalidi is a smear based on fear, not facts. Obama’s incredible success as a candidate, despite this and the many other scurrilous smears that have been flung at him, proves that, as Obama himself has said, Americans are fed up with negative campaigning and ready to use facts, not rumor and innuendo, to choose the best candidate.

How can the word 'Bitter'- spoken at a private fundraiser- become a national media fixation while rape & wife beating jokes spoken publically are largely ignored? If those were played even HALF as much as 'Bitter', McCain would lose the female vote and thereby the election in a landslide.
I do know that Obama’s plan will cut taxes overall, reducing revenues to below the levels that prevailed under
your demi-god, Ronald Reagan (less than 18.2 percent of GDP).
Sheep to the slaughter, WAKE UP!
Barrack Hussein Obama is the definition of a con man. How much evidence do you need? Word's are cheap, a person can say anything so he tell's people whatever he think's they want to hear. Oh, all his lifelong action's and association's don't mean anything, he associated with all these people but he doesn't subscribe to their way of thinking, blah, blah, blah. He is a big, beautifully wrapped box that spurs the imagination as to the untold riches inside, but, the box is empty. He just told you it was full but wouldn't let you see inside until you've bought it. Too late.
Extreme ignorance become's apparent when you watch someone such as Father Phleger pander to the crowd at Jeremiah Wright's "church." What was the purpose of his spiel? To teach the word of God?, to help the people?, no, just to make himself look good in their eye's, to show he was on their side, and instead of being downright insulted and angered by his pandering as I would have been had I been there, people applauded and patted him on the back. Unbeleiveable.
They prey on the ignorance of the American public which I am afraid has become full of sheep except for the few who have the vision to see through his disguise but alas we may be outnumbered and now the sheep will appoint their sheperd to lead us to the slaughter. Very sad.
I may be wasting my time writing this because no matter how light you put on a subject, the blind still can't see it. Messiah?....Antichrist!
Here sheepy, sheepy, sheepy!

Obama loves his brother so much, his brother lives in a slum in Kenya. The dear Auntie he loves and speaks about so much lives in a slum in Boston. I am so very happy he loves them so much because that means he would be willing for you and me to live the same way so as not to disturbed his millionaire life style. He made his millions off the backs of the American people via Fanny/Freddie down fall. Would all of you please send my friend Barack some more money so he can buy the Presidency? I have volunteered for Obama in Pennsylvania several times and the enthusiasm level for him there is AMAZING. Yesterday, I started working in Ohio, expecting that I would get a lot of hostility because I was in a VERY Republican small town, but it turns out that about 70% of everyone I talked to had already voted, and already voted for Obama.
If Obama wins either Pennsylvania or Ohio, McCain will be conceding the election by 11 pm.
Oh Happy Day!
Yeah, Barry will change the world, but to what extent?
I am a life long Democrat and I will never vote for such a radical personage as Obama. The Democrat party has left me behind. Obama is slick. How about all of the money he collected in Septmber. They are slick, they didn't record where One Million of this money came from. His entire campaign has been very secretive from the very beginning. And his associates leave alot to be desired in my estimation. He gave 188,000 dollars to Acorn in order to beat Hillary Clinton and the caucuses were run the way organized crime runs things.
I FEAR for America!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Coming out of the conventions McCain was my choice, despite reservations about his VP selection.
However, McCain sold his soul to the same Bush/Rove smear and fear team that trashed him in 2000. Tactics he swore to never engage in himself. I could have voted for him before this turn, to ensure the balance he rightly speaks of between the House, Senate and Executive branch. However, if he has sold out for the election, so why would I believe he hasn't sold out in other ways?
I will reluctantly vote for Obama and hope the Dems aren't as bad in total control as the GOP was under Bush until 18 months ago.
LOL....Race??? Barry will win and he will change the world...he is the chosne one!! LMFAO!!!
It is an evil thing for the press to try to mislead the American People. Newsweek knows that Barack Obama has never had any chance of becoming President in this election. Mark these words - "The American People will hold you accountable for your evil".

to Doodlesmom Unfortunately, the human genome project doesn't answer the question because it is more of a cultural or legal definition of who is black than a genetic one. Actually, I was born in 1949. For a long time, having even one drop of black blood was considered enough for a person to be segregated in the South and to be considered black. Segregation of any kind was wrong. I want to make this real clear, I think Obama is a poor choice because he is so inexperienced and so wrong on so many issues. I would have the same opinion if he could trace his lineage to being 100% white. My only point about mulatto is that it's just a fact that is what he is. My other point was that why are you attacking me about a definition/word, when blacks who vote for Obama only for his color are essentially attacking McCain for HIS color? Why is it OK to be racist if you're black, but not OK to be racist if you're white. Why is it OK and not a hate crime to hang a white woman in effigy in California, but not OK and a to BE a hate crime if you hang a black man in effigy anywhere? Why is it OK to get preferential college entrance treatment if you're a well-off black kid, but not if you're a poor white kid? So, maybe Obama if he gets elected as our first mulatto President will take the side of her white mother's lineage and stop a lot of the reverse discrimination that now goes on in this country. I also hope he will put some laws into effect banning the use of the word *** from black music, black comedians, and black politicians so that it's just not whites who are supposed to not use that word. I think a law could be written to simply state that word must be replaced with "black" by those people, just as whites have to only use that term to avoid being labeled as racists.
People on these bogs are fond of saying that the current economic meltdown was caused by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac underwriting bad mortgages. While Fannie and Freddie obviously are guilty of writing bad mortgages, and worse, guilty of lobbying Congress to allow them to do so with impunity, their actions are just a small piece of the puzzle when it comes to determining who (or what) caused the financial crisis we face today.
In 1929 the stock market crash caused the banks to fail, because the banks were in bed with the stock market. Back then, banks owned investment houses, so when the stock market fell, the banks fell too. This triggered the Great Depression. So in 1933 the Congress wrote laws that regulated banking, making it illegal for banks to own investment companies, mortgage guaranty companies or insurance companies. The idea was to keep key industries separated by a fire wall, so that if one industry failed the whole economy would not go down in flames.
But the Republicans under Bush deregulated the banking industry. Senator Phil Gramm wrote legislation (the Gramm Rudman Act, the Gramm Leach Biley Act, etc.) that stripped away the regulations in the financial and insurance industies. He pushed them through the Republican Congress and they were signed into law by Geo. W. Bush. John McCain voted in favor. Everybody said how great it is to deregulate and create free markets.
Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns and Merrill Lynch each gave over a million dollars to Senator Gramm's re-election campaign.
The economic collapse that happened later was a direct result of the deregulation, and here's how: the banks wrote bad mortgages, then bundled the mortgages into investment vehicles that they sold all over the world, and they even got firms like AIG to insure the investments. It was all a house of cards.
If there had been no deregulation, sure we would have had a bunch of bad mortgages, and the mortgage guaranty and real estate industries would have suffered, but there would not have been a global financial meltdown, since the problem would have been contained in one sector of the economy. You can thank Geo W. Bush, Sen. Phil Gramm and Sen John McCain for the meltdown, since they were strong proponents of deregulation.
Furthermore, although Fannie and Freddie are now holding the bulk of these bad mortgages, Fannie and Freddie did not originally write most of these mortgages. They bought them after the fact, bundled by banks/investment companies. Fannie and Freddie got screwed by the Wall Street fat cats. And so did you, if you pay taxes.
What is Phil Gramm doing today? He works as a lobbyist in Washington, trying to make it legal for the Swiss bank he represents to sell Death Bonds in the United States. Nice guy, Phil Gramm. Incidentally, John McCain has said that he wants to appoint Phil Gramm as Treasury Secretary. Some people just can't learn from their mistakes.
Immediately after the infomercial, I heard the comment that "it was too polished". I find that interesting - had there been noticeable mistakes made, it would have been said that he couldn't do a good job as president because he couldn't even present an informercial!
Those who would say that, should look to the Republican candidate. Senator McCain has been unable to unite his own campaign, what does that say about his leadership qualities.? John McCain has waffled from one subject to the other and the only consistency I have seen is the campaign's ability to throw slurs and negative comments.
All of us would do well to remind ourselves of what this country stands for - equal and fair treatment of everyone..... not just equal and fair treatment for white Republicans. We, as a nation, go out into this world and tout our values - admonishing those who do not share them; isn't it about time we put some actions behind our words?
Vote Obama-Biden - this from an old, ex-Republican, still-working, still concerned about my future and the future of my country, white lady.

'Twas the night before elections
And all through the town
Tempers were flaring
Emotions all up and down!
I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
Had cut off the TV
Tired of political crap.
When all of a sudden
There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
Saw Obama and his boys
They had come for my wallet
They wanted my pay
To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!
He snatched up my money
And quick as a wink
Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink
He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!
' On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On Acorn, On Pelosi'
He screamed at the pairs!
They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!
So I leave you to think
On this one final note-
IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM
GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!

Blacks typically support democrats. Hillary actually had more support initially among the black community until Obama proved himself a viable candidate.
Racism? Get off your little white guilt horse! Hmmm - over 90% blacks are voting Osama - is that racism?
Fineman is right on about all the negative reasons/circumstances that one would think would convince voters to take a different path--than sticking with the Republicans. So.. the 3 trillion dollar question is why?
Clearly it is racism. Whether you agree with me or not, the question of race and whether it may keep Obama from winning is valid.
It is a shame really that the color of Obama's skin would bother some folks so much that they'd rather America suffer the loss of its financial power, military might, and world standing as the only super power. At the end of the day racism and belonging to exclusionary groups (including religious organizations) create divisiveness and only serve to dis-unite the United States.

Wow. I was undecided and leaning toward Barack, but after watching this video I may change my mind and vote for McCain. Talk about a wake-up call!
I am scouring the most recent polls to find this "tightening" you are talking about. Where is it?
Is six points on the RCP average what you call "tightening?" Be a nice boy, Howie, don't write trash. Don't use past trends to try to look prescient -- let the news get there before you report it.. Finally, don't try to engineer a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I'm a democrat but I'm still going to vote for McCain. The main reason is because I don't believe in abortion. The USA has gone down hill on their Morals, we've seemed to have taken God out of everything unless we're cussing and his name seem's to always come up. It's no wonder America is in the shape that it's in. America is on a down hill run unless the people in America change. Both canadates talk about a change. Well this is the change America needs and that's to repent of it's sins and start living right with God. In the bible we read of God destroying Sodom & Gomorrah and they were like the USA. Doesn't anyone worry of what could happen to America. I Pray for America and the People.
Religious Implication Of The American Presidential Election.
By: Jordan C. Fan, Prophet Of Environment.
The current U. S. A. presidential election should be what many prophets have prehesied as the Last Judgement, Apocalypse, or Armageddon. As I have mentioned earlier Armageddon is literary means "Battle Ground State" which is Maryland, the Capital of African Americans near the actual Capital of Washington DC.
Since this election is so involving and important that many other nations therefore in addition to Americans are deeply affected byit. Even non-voters and non-United States citizens are not going to vote this particular election will still affect them for a long time to come.
As I have mentioned earlier about the relationship between Environment/God and mankind. To Environment/God, men are no better than the Guinea Pigs of the Environment who will be used for experimental purposes. Beginning with the year 2000, the Environment/God have decided that some human should no longer be treated as Guinea Pig as long as they can remain non-aggressive and will not make drastic changes to our planet and the Universe. In other words, they must be very passive and non-violent. Likewise, after long period of being subject to ambitious and exhaustive experimentation some men may deserve a break after such long history of aggression and violence.
The Democratic Party, especially during the Clinton administration, has always preferred wasting resources in favor of massive development. Unfortunately, Obama has planned revived drastic changes to the society, world and Universe. Therefore whoever will vote for or support Obama's ideology will continue to subject to Guinea Pig like episodes with great tortures and then horrifying death. Those who will vote against Obama along with their descendents will enjoy a relatively peaceful period of rest for many generation to come. Because they have proven to be intelligent people who had faith and trust in the Environment. The choice and judgement are ours now! Those ghosts and dead souls who are the victims of wars created by the Americans through the years have been let out of Hell to take revenge against the United States. They will prove My Prophecies from the Environment. The suffering of Democrat supporters will be intense.
No one should run on adrenaline forever especially our planet earth and human race. Since the turn of the millennium human development and progress had reached its peak on the curve of the development of mankind. We are currently on a downward slope of constant decline until eternity. During this election, choose your support wisely.
To JohnDD:
Mulatto! Were you born in 1825? That is an old term from the times of slavery in the US. Wow; I haven't heard that in quite a long time. That right there, says a great deal aboout your mindset and that's very sad to me. I am not sure you truly understand that biracial children (and I am not just talking about Black/White biracial only), are growing in numbers and for you to use a term from a time period that caused a great deal of harm, is disturbing to me.
Btw, most geneticists and scientists that study human population have stated that in humans, the ideas of what we consider race, does not exist in the human population. What makes us all different comes from genetic diversity over many, many generations based solely on what helped the humans who lived in that area, to survive better. Matter of fact before you comment on this, please look up the National Geographic's Human Genome Study called the Human Genographic Project.
https://www3.nationalgeographic.com/genographic/
This project will help you to understand that race in humans is purely superficial only. If humans truly were different races as scientists define race, humans would not be able to have children or they may be sterile at birth. Good example a mule; a donkey and a horse=mule.
So, before you comment on something, learn about the subject matter you are talking about, please.
How can voters buy into Obama's Government waste and overspending retoric and not be bothered by his exstravant spending just to get elected?
His spending will increase spending and tax the already overtaxed american to record levels.
Just what we need in these economic hard times, more programs.
Programs are paid for by middle income tax payers.
Why do we tolerate this behavior from any public servant.
They have forgotten who serves who. Just compare a Senator's pension to yours, it is unacceptable that we pay for their lousy performance. Work 6 years and your set for life, Only if you are a politician and only in America.
Do this quaity of work in a "normal job" and you wouldn't make it 2 years, let alone 6.
Vote for big spenders, but don't complain when your take home pay shrinks.
It is not a mystery at all - for the same reason Clinton crushed Obama in the final large state polls and lost by a whisker for the nomination, voters are realizing they have an unqualfied, inexperienced ego-maniac who got it in his head that he ought to be President after 184 days of national elected office...during which he did exactly zero good for his constituents or the country in general. Where does that kind of arrogance come from?
Barak Obama is a disaster of a candidate - he lacks the respect for the country, much of it's people and the Constitution that defines it and us. Not all of us think that coolness, aloofness and nice words are a substiture for leadership, experience and moral courage. John McCain has the latter, And that is why he is still in the race...and for the good of America, will hopefully win.
Gilman, you're wrong. People are choosing him for the symbolism and not the substance. If you were to set the resumes of Obama, McCain, Biden, Palin, and Hillary in front of a hiring manager witout sharing race, gender, name, etc, Obama would be the least of the 5 likely to win the position.
If Sen. Obama wins and fails as miserably as Carter, there's gonna be a lot of finger pointing. First of all, his resume is thinner than Palin's whether you want to accept that fact or not. Hillary for gosh sakes is more qualified. The media is gonna have egg on their face for being in the tank for Obama. No African-American will be nominated anytime soon. It has been 24 years since another women got the opportunity to compete for one of the two highest elected positions in the land. Obama's plans are not all that different than Carter's. Do you really believe that there will be a different result this time? Its gona be tough on the country but if you elect Obama, you get what you deserve.
Questions for the Polls 2008:
(Continued from below)
Pepsi or Coke?
The answer is in the advertising. Just add $600,000,000 in advertising to one, and you're sure to have a clear, media-driven winner.
I hear many praising the campaign of one candidate over another. Has anyone stopped to consider that a few BILLION dollars have been spent on talk?? If talk is cheap, how expensive is this next president going to be??
The country is yearning for change, and given the circumstances you mentioned any other run of the mill democratic candidate might have been far ahead in the polls by now, but this is not a candidate that people are used to seeing on the top of the ticket. His name is unusual, his story is unusual, his biography is unusual, he has limited executive experience, and electing Obama is asking for a very big leap of faith and trust from people of all walks of life. This paradigm shift is not going to be easy, and as Roger Cohen says in the New York Times, "nobody should underestimate the immense psychological leap that sending a black couple to the White House would represent". If America elects Obama, it will be a breakthrough of mighty proportions, would send ripple effects across the world like nothing else would, and once again, America would become the trend setter. And yet, people would have chosen him not for the symbolism, but for the substance.
Let's just be honest here Howie...this race is over. Apparently the news media including Newsweek and NBC/MSNBC have decided to jump on board the McCain bandwagon for the last week of this race, and yet Obama is still ahead in EVERY SINGLE BATTLEGROUND STATE. Just go to REALCLEARPOLITICS.com and look for yourself. Now it sounds like If Obama ends up winning by a mere 60, 80, or 100 electoral points, all of which is easily expected...Obama won't have won big enoguh for the GOP sycophants like Howard Fineman, Andrea Mitchell, or the like. Hate to break it to you Howard, but it's over for the GOP. Obama is going to win, and the Dems are at least going to get 59 Senate seats, maybe 60. But I am sure that won't stop Fineman from claiming that even though the GOP was humiliated, it doesn't really count because apparently unless it's an absolute blow-out, the GOP still comes out on top. Pathetic, Fineman.

On Taxation:
And that long-scoffed at "tax loophole" for companies that ship jobs overseas (namely, the ability for the company to pay taxes on profits earned abroad at the host country's rate) that you liberal types continually associate with Bush and McCain has nothing to do at all with Bush or McCain. That tax "loophole" was intentionally written into the law when corporate income taxes were first enacted in 1909.
Allowing companies to base a PORTION of their business overseas in order to be able to compete against foreign companies minimizes the risk that the entire company will ship itself overseas. This is critical to our being able to compete internationally. It is so critical that it EVEN SURVIVED THE EXTREME PROTECTIONISM OF HOOVER DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION. And if you [don't] know anything about American history during the Great Depression, then you will recognize that's saying something big.
In what way does it make sense WHATSOEVER that RAISING taxes on American corporations will make us MORE competitive or in any way provide an incentive for keeping jobs in the US? How in the world does THAT work?
No, my dear Newsweak journalists and other liberal media cohorts, it's not race or names that's keeping this race close.
Oddly enough . . . it's the economy.
swahili,schmahili....i don't care if he is green and from mars. i am voting FOR john mccain, not against obama. voting FOR a man i respect, who is tested & true, not soft and new.
"Because some voters remember the hate-filled sound bites of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright."
It's not just Wright. It's his connection to James Cone and the 20 years Obama spent listening to Wright's sermons that are based on Cone's racist-Marxist rhetoric called "black liberation theology". It really seems impossible to avoid linking Obama with this truly horrible doctrine, and it must point toward his true beliefs in light of the numerous other radical connections he appears to have.
Read "Black Theology & Black Power" and "A Black Theology of Liberation" by Cone, and see if it's not true.

Questions for the Polls 2008
Forgot ome:
Years of public service (thinking of Nader, Paul, Bar and others) or Days of public service?
You people are talking like polls are votes. They most decidedly are not. And it ain't over til the fat lady sings.
yeah someone should tell Fineman it's over ... MSNBC and CNN has been celebrating for a week ... he has his head in the sand. Thank God it's over and I better have good health care within three months
Hey College Dad,
Who's "convicted right-wing terrorist G. Gordon Liddy"? I'm familiar with "idiot boy crook" G. Gordon Liddy, but I don't seem to remember him bombing the capital, or his wife murdering cops in bank heists. I do seem to remember a cretin that supported a left-wing Republican *** and tried to help him ACORN an election.
Anyway, where does a Sen Barry supporter get the chutzpah to criticize the honesty of anyone? Captain Present would have you believe that he opposed the Iraq War on principle. What nonsense. He was (and is) a chump. No more, no less, than a big city, machine pol who represented a district that toed the Dems' party line. Oh, "he voted his conscience", in a 90% dem district. If he had been in the U.S. senate, in the national spotlight, he would have voted for the war in a heartbeat, Just like all the other, Machiavellian, Dems.
In the long run here is the truth for most of us who will vote for Obama. We are so tired of the Republicans that we can't wait to see them gone. And I admit I cannot fathom how they have held onto so much for so long when they help no one but the rich, do everything they can to discourage or cheat or lie or steal or generally deter democrats from voting. They claim to be patriotic and do every evil thing they can to stop the most important example of our democracy.,..the right to vote. The whole party accepts their criminality as an honorable trait because they are the true patriots and all of them are great Americans. They are the anti-American party...but they are the pro their own party party.
Ah, it does my heart good to see political bloggers and journalists stretching to keep this race alive! It was a great political season, that's for sure, but ,alas, it's over. Obama has clinched all of Kerry's '04 states, plus Iowa, by securing double-digit margins, which means McCain has to win pretty much everything else. Well, the polls in Virginia close at 7 am, so everyone should be able to go to bed by 8 or 9. For those in the West, you'll see the final landslide, including Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada. It also looks pretty certain that Ohio will go Obama, but the beauty is that it doesn't even matter! Same with Florida. Same with North Carolina. Same with Missouri. Same with Montana. Same with North Dakota. Same with Arizona (!!).
Bottom line is this is not a baseball game. It's over.
Regarding the Candidates for Presidency, Bob Barr, Ralph Nader, Ron Paul, Barak Hussein Obama, Chuck Baldwin, John McCain, and Cynthia McKinney; here are the questions to be asking yourself at the polls for the 2008 Presidential Election:
Merit or Media?
American Idol or American Hero?
Public Servant or Public Relations?
Charisma or Character?
Do or Can do?
Will do or Have already done?
Leader or Teacher?
Excitement or Experience?
Wisdom or ??
This is why it is still a race. The gravity of the decision is beginning to pull heavily on the conscience of responsible United States Americans. This is not a popularity race. We are not simply texting in our choice of the leader of the free world. While the Media races on with its lopsided slants and the World has cast their "vote", the United States American is realizing the beauty of being a citizen of one of the greatest countries of all time.
Our country is founded on steadfastness, hard work, free will, a fear of God, and a respect for all life. No one can dictate our voices. And we will exercise that voice on November 4th. Beyond the media, beyond the commentators, the fortune tellers, and speculators.
This is still a race because it is a race of judgment, of merit, of strength, of wisdom, of integrity, of transparency, of justice, of peace, of goodness, of life, and of power.
sharenews,
I'm fully aware of what Sen. McCain accomplished during his Naval career. I have never doubted
his ability to get things done nor his executive experience. As I posted around 3:30pm, I am supporting Sen. McCain in this election, but would have preferred to support the Sen. McCain that was around in the year 2000. He better represented my views.
Obama repetitively late to committee hearings:
http://vodpod.com/watch/1122371-obama-late-to-hearings?pod=pumaalliance
OBAMA: Thank you very much, ah, ah, Mr. Chairman, ah, ah. . I apologize for being late . . .uh tardy.
jmac is making 'gains' in states he can't win, and wont help him...big deal mr fineman..keep selling your mags, my friend
Well, folks here it is. The last week of the campaign and the flimsiest and most outrageous smears yet are coming out the desperate McCain camp. How low will he stoop?
sarah palin the new face of the repug party??!...good luck with that , fools!!..somebody teach the woman how to speak pleasantly first..maybe that might work..she's 10x worse than hils clinton
THANKS HOWARD! I AM BARACK OBAMA, AND I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE.
oh, please..mr mcain and the tone deaf miss palin are screeching about this plo guy, when jmac paid the dude 1/2 a mill and supported his causes in the late 90s...these people have no shame
Every attack McCain throws at Obama just highlights McCain's own ignorance and hypocrisy.
McCain says Obama is not ready to be commander-in-chief, yet McCain's choice for Vice President
showed horrible judgement. Do we really want a President and commander-in-chief with McCain's poor judgement?
McCain says Obama is socialist, but McCain just voted for the recent government bail-out of the U.S. financial system-an example of socialist financial policy. And in Sarah Palin's Alaska, every resident gets a $1,500 check from the government--just for living in Alaska! It's McCain and Palin who are socialist.
McCain complains about Obama's association with William Ayers. But even if you thought that Obama and Ayers were still close (they aren't), McCain has recently associated with convicted right-wing terrorist G. Gordon Liddy. And McCain is much closer to Liddy than Obama is to Ayers.
McCain has run a mismanaged, slipshod campaign. McCain is an inept hypocrite. I don't want a slipshod, inept hypocrite in the White House.
Vote Obama/Biden in 08!

Hey Mrs Cooper, do you remember when FDR got on TV in 1929 when the Black Monday occcurred. Neither do I but Joe Biden does!.
When a candidate states he's been to 57 states and thinks he still has 2 to visit and his running mates states that word jobs has 3 letters ...I'll stick with the POW and the Barracuda. I've purchased a brown shirt just in case the facsist(sic) obama wins. Th
How can anyone in their right mind can even think about voting for McCain? McCain will keep the rich, Rich! And the poor, Poor! I watched the debates, and I've watched McCain speak in his rallys. I think he's a liar and only tell half truth. He has admitted he's 90% behind Bush and everyone knows Byush is a Idiot!! Also, think about Palin might have to take over and the thought of that scares the hell out of me. She's a Idiot, who uses her sick baby to further her campaign with the parents who have children with special needs. She brings that baby with her to her Rallys with his pajamas on. She's pathetic, and she needs to be home taking proper care of her children. Republicans were always against unwed pregnancy, but it's okay that her daughter Bristol is about to have a baby. Everyone has turned their heads to that. Well, I'm not having it!! She can't take care of her own house, so how will she take care of the White House?
Chet, are you aware of this about McCain?
JOHN MCCAIN - Naval Executive Experience / Leadership
Source: http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/post/?q=OTdlM2ZhNzllOTIyNzY2YWU5MzQ2NzdiMTc1MDE5Y2U=
Every once in a while during the primary, we would hear someone note that John McCain had no executive experience, that he had never managed anything. That is not quite accurate; he has no executive or managerial experience in the POLITICAL REALM. He did, HOWEVER, have an EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP POSITION IN THE NAVY, and he will describe that today at his campaign stop in Jacksonville:
JOHN MCCAIN: When I came to Cecil Field and eventually assumed command of VA 174, the LARGEST SQUADRON IN THE NAVY, the state of military readiness in the United States was very low. And my squadrons readiness was no exception. We had about FIFTY PLANES, and nearly half of them were in such bad shape they had been grounded. I was DETERMINED TO IMPROVE THE SITUATION, but I knew my own determination wouldnt be sufficient to do so. I struck a DEAL WITH MY SUPERIORS that if they allowed me to MOVE PARTS FROM ONE PLANE TO ANOTHER, before my tour was finished we would have every one of them in the air.
No plan to restore the squadrons readiness could have succeeded without the extraordinary determination and resourcefulness of the PILOTS, STAFF AND CREW I served with. They numbered NEARLY A THOUSAND, and they were as highly committed, hardworking, innovative people as any officer ever had the honor to command. They worked diligently toward a common goal, and took pride in the achievements of a team and didnt view individual accomplishment as the primary focus of their energy. Of course, the squadrons purpose was to train aviators, but the men and women of VA 174 knew that they were serving a greater purpose: to demonstrate the resolve of the United States Navy to overcome the decline in morale and readiness that temporarily afflicted the military after the Vietnam War.
On the LAST DAY OF MY COMMAND, my Executive Officer and friend, Carl Smith, kept my promise to my superiors and TOOK OFF IN THE LAST OF THE SQUADRONS GROUNDED planes. The plane was barely ready for the test and flew with its landing gear down. But we had achieved our goal. We had gotten every airplane off the ground, SET A RECORD for the longest flying hours WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT, and received the first MERITORIOUS UNIT CITATION ever awarded VA 174. The experience was the most rewarding assignment of my Navy career.
There are many qualities to military service that make it such a special profession. But among the most important is the ABILITY TO GET THINGS DONE NO MATTER HOW DIFFICULT, CONFUSED OR UNEXPECTED THE SITUATION. There is an old military maxim that battle plans never survive the first encounter with the enemy. Soldiers are taught to EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED and accept it, and revise, improvise, and fight their way through any adversity. That doesnt mean the soldier doesnt grumble or complain about unexpected changes in their fortunes, but they are TRAINED TO GET THINGS DONE NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES.
http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/post/?q=OTdlM2ZhNzllOTIyNzY2YWU5MzQ2NzdiMTc1MDE5Y2U=
Get over it people! It's about time this country gets a change and I don't care what people try to say about Obama's background. Its time this country be tested by it's Constitution to the fullest. It's time this country truly live up to it's promises of being democratic. It's time to stop crying and whining about thinking that there has always got to be one people in authority. It's time to get beyond yesterday... Barack Obama is JUST as good as any other citizen of this country to exercise his right and ability to be the president. There is NOTHING that states any major prerequisite or, experience to be president. For that, he's got just as much right to be on that ticket than ANY other American. He's got just as much right to be seriously considered for that job as ANY other American. Only time will tell if his good judgement and ability lives up to the potential needed to be a great leader of this country but, don't sit there and try to belittle a person that had MORE courage, determination, will and effort to try more so than ALL of you! For that, he may be black or he may be purple for that matter; but at least he knows his constitutional right and he wasn't CHICKEN to exercise them...more than could be said for the "garbage" speakers on this blog!!!
God damn America! Deadbeats for obama.
People the only reason why Obama is up by ten and not thirty points in the polls is because he is a black man and many white Americans are not ready for a black man to be in power. It is obvious. McCain is old and outdated and Palin is clueless. They can't even agree and get along with each other. McCain's own people called her a "wack job". Obama and Biden are better organized and have it together. If obama looked like Brad Pitt and his name was Brett Andrews then he would be up by 30 points. You know it and I know it!!!!
Despite your ignorance and fears Obama is still going to be our next president and there ain't nothing that can be done about that.
It is still close because of fear. We have become a country afraid of its own shadow. When we were attacked on 9/11 we responded by lashing out at Iraq and getting stuck in a quagmire. Bin Laden has not had to do much of anything to us since as Bush and his neo-cons have us wasting our treasury and goodwill around the world by swinging wildly at boogy men while the really dangerous ones quietly get more powerful. We are much better than that but Senator McCain has jumped on the fear train which has worked before. Country first - indeed. The real question is what will we be in the future? We need calm and focused leadership from someone that doesn't react without thinking. There is only one candidate in this race with that trait - Obama.
"Much of the media coverage of Obama has been fawning to say the least, and with good reason. He is one of the most winsome, charismatic candidates to have appeared on the scene in decades."
That's the reason? I thought it was just the media giving one last hurrah. The media has always favored the Democratic candidate; but with falling readers/viewers this might be the last chance for the MSM to really affect an election; so they're going all out.
That and they've completely given up on journalism of course...
But lets go with your answer. Of course the media wouldn't ask any tough questions of a winsome charismatic politician; it's not their job. Their job is to delve into anyone who might be a danger to that politician's ascendancy... watch out Joe the Plumber, etc.
At least the country knows now. The media will get anyone at any time with anything they can throw if you oppose their political ideals. Not exactly the journalistic integrity you hope for; but its good to know what the rules are.
This is the article that the LA Times published this past Spring that is being talked about in the news media. It was a farewell party to Rashid Khalidi (critic of Israel and advocate for Palestinian rights) attended by Obama and Bill Ayers. There have been requests of LA Times to relinquish the existing tape they have in their hands as there were discussions/speeches at the event which we anti-Israel in nature. Even if the tape does not air it looks like just having the controversy about it will help John McCain. Here you go:
Allies of Palestinians see a friend in Barack Obama

CHICAGO - It was a CELEBRATION OF PALESTINIAN CULTURE - a night of music, dancing and a dash of politics. Local Arab Americans were BIDDING FAREWELL TO RASHID KHALIDI, an internationally known scholar, CRITIC OF ISRAEL and advocate for PALESTINIAN RIGHTS, who was leaving town for a job in New York.
A SPECIAL TRIBUTE came from Khalidi’s FRIEND AND FREQUENT DINNER COMPANION, the young state Sen. Barack OBAMA. Speaking to the crowd, OBAMA REMINISCED ABOUT MEALS PREPARED BY KHALIDI'S WIFE, Mona, and conversations that had challenged his thinking.
His MANY TALKS WITH THE KHALIDIS, Obama said, had been CONSISTENT REMINDERS to me of my OWN BLIND SPOTS and MY OWN BIASES. . . It is for that reason that I AM HOPING THAT, for many years to come, we CONTINUE THAT CONVERSATION - a conversation that is necessary not just around Mona and Rashids dinner table, but AROUND THIS ENTIRE WORLD.
Today, five years later, Obama is a U.S. senator from Illinois who expresses a firmly pro-Israel view of Middle East politics, pleasing many of the Jewish leaders and advocates for Israel whom he is courting in his presidential campaign. The DINNER CONVERSATIONS he had envisioned with his PALESTINIAN AMERICAN FRIEND HAVE ENDED. He and Khalidi have seen each other only fleetingly in recent years.
And yet the WARM EMBRACE OBAMA GAVE TO KHALIDI, and words like those at the professors going-away party, have left some PALESTINIAN AMERICAN LEADERS believing that OBAMA IS MORE RECEPTIVE TO THEIR VIEWPOINT than he is willing to say.

Emlee,
I am fully aware of what Sen. McCain went through in the POW camps and fully understand that turning down early release maybe "heroic" to many unfamiliar with the US Code of Conduct, but it is not. It is the BASIC principle that ALL servicemembers strive to adhere to in accordance with the Code of Conduct. Now please don't misunderstand me, I admire and respect him greatly for what he did and did not do. That he had the chance to accept early parole and refused it does attest to his character as a man. But that alone was not a heroic act. If you read Sen. McCain's account of his conduct as a POW he would not refer to himself as a hero. He was tortured, broke and revealed too much information as to what he felt he should have. That is very common and is nothing to be ashamed of since in POW training they stress that you do your best and "Return with Honor". I believe Sen. McCain did that. I will again say that refusing early release is not heroic. That is doing what your supposed to do. Accepting early release is doing less than what your supposed to do but I would certainly not say it is cowardly................Each person has his or her breaking point in that situation............Since I've only been exposed to POW training, I make no judgements on any actions taken by any of our servicemembers who have actually went through that ordeal expect to state whether they complied with the Code of Conduct the the best of each one's own ability. Tha statement alone tells loads of the complexity of the Code of Conduct.
This is why Sen. McCain is not for torture. He understands that the information given is highly questionable.
Also, history does not demonstrate that any of Sen. McCain's fellow prisoners were treated any better because he was there. It may be true, (and I certainly hope it is) but I have not read any definate accounts that is presence made any difference.
I also do not believe Sen. McCain is illiterate to the ways of technology.

Chet123 - what made McCain a hero wasn't that he was a POW but that he turned down an offer from the Vietnamese to go home... because his father was an Admiral he knew if he stayed the men that were there would be treated a little better as there was an "eye" on that camp with him there...he would NOT take preferential treatment because of his father's rank and leave others behind to face torture because their father's were not Admirals....that is what made him a hero. not just being a POW..so for the sake of others, he stayed in a prison camp for 5 years when he could have been safe and sound in America - that is why he is physically stiff and awkward...that is why he has trouble holding his arms up long enough to type on a keyboard (he is not technologically illiterate BTW)...

I am not a registered voter yet since i am still an immigrant to the America. But all my family who are US citizen are for John McCain and so am I and so does all people i met, specially none American. Their comments is that Obama is a very good speaker, he is very intelligent and personally, I am glad that he is one of our Senator. they are both very qualified on my opinion But, when selecting a leader for this great country, I think we should choose the leader who is proven to have sacriced himself from a life and death situation. That is the leader we can trust. John McCain.. And he is not GWB he is more Patriot that GWB
My questions is this: (1) How does this new President elect benefit ME AND MY FAMILY? You know how - nothing is going to be done to help me or my family with our crisis - whatever
that may be. In fact, ALL the issues they proclaim they each stand on mean absolutely nothing to the average person.
ANSWER: Remember these historic words? Words from a Democratic hero, JFK (well not exactly, but you'll recognize the quote/statement):
"Ask not what your country can do for you ... but what you can do for your country."
Now, I only bring this up because a Democrat said it. If a Republican had said that ... well ... enough said.
Bottom line, at least in my opinion, the government doesn't owe me poop in terms of gov. handouts (aka a FREE LUNCH). If anything, they only owe me a country where capitalism (free markets) can flourish.
Now don't mistake capitalism with W's corrupted liassez-faire system (the principle that the economy works best if private industry is not regulated and markets are totally free).
In fact, I do believe that it's FAIR that gov. ask for "REASONABLE" tax dollars for schools, important social programs, Soc Sec., federal and local law enforcement and fire, etc. BUT THE KEY WORD IS "REASONABLE" TAX $$$!
The problem is they always ask for TOO MUCH!!! Anyway, out of that those generated tax buck-a roos, Big Gov. owes me reasonable govmt oversight i.e., Gov. Watchdogs that enforce REASONABLE Big Corp Rules & Regs. Because we've lacked any REAL gov. oversight over the past 16 years (thru Wild Bill's and W’s Prez terms) we have now found ourselves in a heap of trouble.
If I've said this once, I've said it a million times, Wild Bill turned a blind-eye to all the shenanigans that were happening in the stock market during the '90's (manufacture Dot.Com boom & bust era) and old 'W' turned a blind-eye to all the poop that was going on in the real estate & mortgage industry, Big Corp corruption, Banking Industry, hell, you name it! And now folks! It's time to pay the piper back as a result of THESE TWO WONDERFUL PRES’S!!! C'MON BIG BRO! WHERE ARE YA WHEN WE REALLY NEED YOU? Conveniently asleep huh?
I've been yelling and screaming about this crap for almost two years now. Hell, long before the mainstream media started reporting on this crap. And don't think for a second that most of the dirt bags in the media weren't aware of all this crap. They were! THEY ARE!!!
They just held off on reporting this sh!t until an election year. A political move by the Liberal Elitists (aka Democrooks) of this country to ensure a win come Nov.
Bottom line ... YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT MA'AM … WE'RE ALL BEING PLAYED! By both party's!! How pathetic is that?!
BUT THAT’S NOT "EXCUSE" TO SKIP VOTING THIS YEAR! In fact, this is one of the most important elections in modern history! Pivotal moment!!! So here are your choices:
1. We could either take ten steps backwards with a B.O. presidency. Which will put in place a Commi or Socialistic Society. (see actual definitions below). Heck! With a Democratic senate and house lookout folks!
OR
2. We can take our chances with a Commander-in-Chief who possesses important military experience and has a long track record in the senate.
*Definition of Communism: The Marxist-Leninist version of a classless society in which capitalism is overthrown by a working-class revolution that gives ownership and control of wealth and property to the state.
*Defintion of Socialism: A political theory or system in which the means of production and distribution are controlled by the people* and operated according to equity and fairness rather than market principles
(Side note: People? More like Big Gov.)
YOU DECIDE FOLKS! WHICH IS IT GOING TO BE?
COMMUNISM/SOCIALISM OR CAPITALISM?
To all the liberal fascists: stop talking about Bush please, He s an idiot, we can all agree. He led us into a ruinous , senseless, and counterproductive war in Iraq, we can all agree. Nothing that Bush did can justify America turning to a Hitler like barack Obama. Nothing can justify the hell that we are about to step into by installing this big-eared communist. Voting for Obama is an act of self-hating suicide. Forget George W. Bush. He is gone already. Barack Obama is death and destruction. He is the agent of Satan.
dont you know that mr fineman is in love with Obama he has his little lily livered lemming pom, pom's out cheering for Obama.
For anyone worried about Obama. Is there any possible way he could be worse than GWB. Seriously the fact that this guy got elected twice is embarrassing to anyone who can say Nuclear. You guys all say he will lead us down the wrong path as if being 11 trillion in debt bailing out banks, people losing homes, and having a foreign country own most of that debt is some sort of great path that this country is on. It's a failed model that came to fruition. Time for some fresh ideas and John McCain is anything but fresh unless he's adjusting his "bucket list".
Poor Fineman. He just doesn't get it.
He is part of the Tank Media. The Tank Media has lied continuously about, and for, Obama. The lies are being exposed.
That is all that is happening.
Anyone who votes for Obama is so blinded by his lacking. They choose to cover their ears and just say la,la,la,la. Get a clue Obama wants to build the economy from the bottom up, what?
Obama saying that speaks large volumes of inexperience, never having been any sort of manager, business owner he would not have a clue.
Since when does buying a computer for a kid create a job Obama? That is what he said in a debate speech. Oh and that is why companies are managed by the mail clerk.
John McCain has volumes of experience, Obama is really good at saying a bunch of nothing and when he runs out of words he steals ideas from McCain of ideas that actually means something.
Yes the race is getting tighter and the squeeze is coming but for all those Obama followers you can still follow him after the election when all he has left is you. MLK move over here is your new community organizer BHO that job is pretty much at the bottom so it would be a good place for him to be since he thinks that the economy is grown from the bottom up.
Barack Obama is without question the most dangerous threat America has ever faced from a single person, yet he has an army of illiterate, violent imbeciles ready to riot and murder at the drop of a signal. America is about to enter its Second Civil War, and it is no accident that a black Muslim will be our first President-For-Life. Look at Kenya, where his alcoholic deadbeat loser father came from, and the rest of Africa, and consider that these nations were once on the way to stable democracies. But the power of anti-European hatred has turned them into cesspools of hate and despair. Barack Obama will put a knife in Israel's back, yet the Jews are voting for him overwhelmingly. These contradictions are signs of coming catastrophe. Barack Obama is the representative of Satan walking on the earth in our time. He is the re-incarnation of Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot and all of the murderous psychopath monsters of the last century. Barack Obama will confiscate your property, forbid you to own the means to defend yourself, install tyrants as judges, build concentration camps, encourage the murder of millions of innocent babies, indoctrinate your children to hate and despise you and your family and your country. All of this is the result of the BUSH family's obsession with their little wars in the Middle east, and the neo-cons hypnotic control over the BUSH family. The Republican party, in its greed and corruption, has set the stage for America to become a communist country led by an evil dictator - Barack Obama - the emissary of hatred from hell.
anyone with an ounce of brains cannot even consider voting for a mccain/palin ticket. mccain is too old to lead this country with all of the turmoil going on and with all of the pressure the office brings with it. his agenda is no different than george bush and in some areas, even worse. he has usedv his prisoner of war credentials long enough. how does that qualify someone to be president? there are many veterans who were pow's. does this automatically qualify them to run for president? his military record is admirable, however, we're now talking about someone who can lead this country out of this mess, and it can't be done by someone who helped get us into this mess. his mental capacity could very well be diminished sooner rather than later, then, what do we have if anything happens to him? we will have an air head left to run the country. how scary would that be? palin, by no stretch of anyone's imagination, is ready to run the most powerful country on earth. she has no idea what a vice president does, let alone what a president does. can you imagine her sitting across the table from people like putin of russia, ahmadenijad of iran or kim jung il of north korea? she would piss her pants and embarrass this country and very possibly put our entire future at risk. please think with your mind and not your party affiliation. we must elect obama and biden. at least both are ready to lead the country from day one.
I just spoke with an Obama supporter. She was obviously unaware of the Florida journalist's question to Joe Biden because I asked if she agreed with the Marxist slogan "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs". The Obama supporter said that she felt that this would be a "fair" way to govern our country. Wake up America - the "shining city upon a hill whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere" is about to have a power outage.
I find it useless and objectionable when readers' commentary consists of their "PART 1 OF 2...OF THE WHOLE SCRIPT OF THEIR COMMENTS, WHICH THE REST OF US HAVE TO READ AND REALIZE IT'S NOT A PERSON TALKING, BUT THEIR CUT AND PASTED DISCUSSION SCRIPT." Yes, I've done this with emails, book reports and more. BUT YOU DON'T GET CREDIT WHEN YOU DO THE PROJECT IN ADVANCE. Any Jackass can copy and paste, eh?? Sharenews, when you actually HAVE NEWS TO SHARE that's not a commentary from your scripts, pleasantly formatted for distribution - in which you're not commenting, but reproducing - I look forward to engaging. In the meantime, PART 2 OF 2 - CLIENTS TERRORIST 1 and TERRORIST 2, while discussing education reform for Poor Kids - can't wait for the freakin' sequel!
PLEASE VOTE FOR MR. MCCAIN I HAVE LOVE ONES THAT LIVE IN U S A
THEY STILL WANT TO LIVE IN A FREE USA THANKS
Can, you see that that man is a Nig...

WOODS FUND: Clients OBAMA AND BILL AYERS while serving as directors on the board of Woods Fund back in the ‘90s:
Part 1 of 2
Setting aside Obamas relationship with Bill Ayer (unrepentant Washington D.C terrorist), the BOARD which they served together deserves additional SCRUTINY. And, in fact, the Woods Funds investments appear to be quite problematic for Obama:
WOODS FUND RADICAL-BASED CLIENTS:
Arab American Action Network (AAAN): Supports EXPANDED RIGHTS FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS [and was] founded by ANTI-ISRAEL professor RASHID KHALIDI, former director of the PLO press agency and onetime moderator of PLO advisory committee.
AAAN views the United States as a nation wherein Arab citizens are routinely maltreated. To remedy this perceived societal injustice, the organization aims to CHALLENGE GOVERNMENT POLICIES that violate the civil, political and human rights of the Arab American and Arab immigrant community. Among these policies are DETENTIONS, DEPORTATIONS AND OTHER ATTACKS ON IMMIGRANTS that result from HOMELAND SECURITY [measures].
AAANs hostile view of the Jewish state is further manifest in the organizations reference to Israels creation in 1948 as Al Nakba (THE CATASTROPHE)
Among the current luminaries of AAANs staff are: (a) Vice President Ali Abunimah, who maintains the website ElectroicIntifada.com and is a Board member of the Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center; and (b) Executive Director Hatem Abudayyeh, who has CONDEMNED THE ISRAELI GOVERNMENT and its military killing machine.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
American Friends Service Committee (AFSC): a Radical Quaker organization that supports Americas unilateral disarmament [and that backed] the Vietnamese Communists, Pol Pot, Fidel Castro, and the PLO.
In fact, AFSC recently formed a partnership with MEChA. MEChA is one of several groups that intend to RECLAIM AZTLÁN (the southwestern PORTION OF THE UNITED STATES):
We are a Chicana and Chicano student movement directly linked to Aztlán. As Chicanas and Chicanos of Aztlán, we are a nationalist movement of Indigenous Gente that LAY CLAIM TO THE LAND THAT IS OURS by birthright. As a nationalist movement we seek to free our people from the exploitation of an oppressive society that occupies our land.
(Continued in my post below - Woods Fund Radical Client)
(Continued from my post above - Woods Fund Radical Clients)
Part 2 of 2
Put simply, MEChAs mission is straightforward: To OVERTHROW the United States Government and establish a new form of government.
MIDWEST ACADEMY: [A] training organization that TEACHES RADICAL ACTIVISTS TACTICS of direct action, targeting, CONFRONTATION, and INTIMIDATION.
In January 2004 [founder] Heather Booth was featured at the National Conference on Organized Resistance at American University in Washington, D.C. This radical conference featured speakers on such topics as AN ANALYSIS OF POLITICALLY MOTIVATED PROPERTY DESTRUCTION AS A LEGITIMATE TACTIC. Booth participated in a panel discussion with former BLACK PANTHER PARTY leader Elaine Brown and Cathy Wilkerson, who had been Editor of the SDS magazine New Left Notes and a member of the domestic terrorist RADICAL GROUP THE WEATHERMEN.
ACORN: A liberal ACTIVIST GROUP, notorious for voter REGISTRATION FRAUD and even PAYING FOR VOTES using crack COCAINE.
Operating in at least 38 states (as well as Canada and Mexico), ACORN pushes a highly partisan agenda, and its organizers are best understood as shock troops for the AFL-CIO and even the Democratic Party.
ACORN and its affiliates have pulled some real stunts in recent years. In Ohio in 2004, a worker for one affiliate was given crack cocaine in exchange for fraudulent registrations that included underage voters, DEAD voters and pillars of the community named Mary Poppins, Dick Tracy and Jive Turkey. During a Congressional hearing in Ohio in the aftermath of the 2004 election, officials from several counties in the state explained ACORNs practice of dumping thousands of registration forms in their lap on the submission deadline, even though the forms had been collected months earlier.
Given this history, it is not surprising that ACORN is so HOSTILE TO VOTER IDENTIFICATION laws and other efforts to ensure fairness and accuracy at the polls.

It's still a horse race for precisely the reason Fineman suggests: the country is completely polarized. But the situation is far worse than he thinks. No matter who wins, the new civil war begins. Let us all hope it is a rather bloodless one.
On the 4th, if it's Obama, he will have no honeymoon, and his Congressional majority will last two years. If it's McCain, he will be skewered by the media from the beginning and his legislative agenda will bounce of a monolithic Congress.
In any case, we are in trouble, big trouble. The left hates the right. The right hates the left. And it is real hatred, not a fabrication of this lousy media or the pedantry of some professorial, intellectual Harvard goon's doctoral thesis. No, this is the real thing, real enough for both sides to stand and fight over. Trouble? We don't know the meaning of the word yet.
My suggestion: read "Quelle" for faith, and "RUNNING, How To Design And Execute A Winning Political Campaign" for hope (both available at Amazon.com or Createspace.com). You can still make a difference if you want.

Um - you are a pathetic excuse for a journalist trying to offer a pathetic excuse for media bias. The fact that someone is "charismatic" (holding aside that is a subjective point), does not mean the media are excused from being objective and fair. That is repulsive. Hitler was charismatic, from all accounts.
The answer to your question: "Why hasn’t Obama run away with this?" is straightforward. In light of Obama's associations with Wright, Ayers, Dorne, Khalidi, Phegler, Rezko and a cast of other unsavory characters, thinking Americans see Senator Obama as a whitened sepulcher.
notice that these republicans only want to talk about smear associations and not policy. and when they talk about policy its still a smear..like tax policy 'redistributing income' when all tax policy does that..old mccain promised tax hikes for the rich but got killed by fellow repugs..was he a socialist too? please
The socialist ideals that Obama privately embraces yet publicly denies unfortunately appeals to a segment of our country who has been hit hard by our floundering economy. But what Obama advocates, namely, a government (read: socialized) medical system, and a "fair" distribution of wealth both portend hgher taxes across the board regardless of what Obama has promised. These are not principals that our country was founded on. The separation of powers to keep the government under control is part and parcel to his oposition's viewpoint and is consttutionally based. Competition in the marketplace and less government regulations is how the entreprenurial spirit is fostered. Putting the practice of medicine back into the hands of doctors and out of the hands of the insurance companies is the best way to control our health insurance system. Enforcing the laws already on our books to regulate the greed that was rampant Wall Street took a back seat to enacting laws which allowed unqualified borrowers to obtain mortgage loans they couldn't reasonably be expected to pay back. Ignoring personal responsiblity in those who took advantage of this flawed system of lax guidelines goes against everything we have always taught our children, namely, know that when you've screwed up, admit it, and take the consequences. This goes for the investors, the banks, and the borrowers. Obama is taking advantage of our country's problems and is offering a fairy tale solution to those who want to lay blame at the Republican's feet. That Obama is charismatic and eloquent is true. It's just too bad that his "solutions" will be more harmful than the problem he's trying to solve. I don't care how educated the man is; we've all known "book-smart" people who couldn't get out of their own way in the real world. This man is truly our century's Pied Piper leading his unsuspecting and naive children into harm.
valwayne..excellently received talking points, that have no logical value. tough questions?..:"when was the last time you beat your wife, and palled around w/terrorist' isn't a question, its a smear. the sexist card played by repugs is a sick joke.. just putting sarah palin on a cynical ticket is sexist..where this race card, when the race deck is owned by white..what good does it do ?
Keep in mind, we elected George W. Bush twice. So, we the American people aren't exactly the swiftest boats in the water. Every now and again, we get it right. Hopefully, this will be one of those times.
mr fineman, you are talking about a 50% electorate dumb enuff to vote for bush twice, and 100% relentless negative campaigning from the same folks who brought us him...pleeeeeze..go sell your papers
Wow, Obama (those of the far left wing variety) are panicking! I have noted the same Obama talking points posted "over and over again from this morning to this afternoon. Gee, how much
does ACORN pay you for each of these "scripted" posts?
Just because someone has attended Harvard or Columbia and received a Law Degree does not
confer sound judgment automatically nor does it somehow make that person infinitely "smarter" about what is best for this country.
Thank God, we Americans are an independent lot, but we CAN think for ourselves. What we do
know is that Barack believes the constitution is flawed, and that the wealth should be spread
around....that in addition that the "real Barack" can only be discerned from his past long term
associations due the lack of any significant experience or voting record.
How many of you would enter into a marriage with someone you knew little about.?
America is "the bride" and Obama is wooing "her", but is he worthy of her?
Of course, the reason Obama hasn't put it away has nothing to do with him sitting in Rev Wright's church listenting to hate for 20 years, nothing to do with the sexist way he treated and humilated Hillary Clinton, Nothing to do with playing the race card untl we were too tired of it for it to matter, nothing to do with avoiding any and all difficult questions, or slipping up with "that's beyond my pay grade", or "Share the Wealth". There is still time for the American people to realize just how dangerous Obama would be....and pull back from the brink. Obama represents real change alright...but it unlikely to be the kind of change most American will appreciate!
I've read most of the comments here, and I have to say that the most important item which should be on the Presidential agenda is education -- specifically, basic English grammar and spelling at the grade-school level. YIKES, people! If you're going to make a point, at least SOUND intelligent. The fact that other countries' educational outcomes are superior to ours is very obvious.
This is the guy who Obama was friends with and attended a farewell celebration and Obama praised him at the event (which supposedly a news source has a tape and will not release it):
RASHID KHALIDI
. . . Ayers and Obama teamed up for three years on the board of the Woods Fund, a Chicago charitable organization. Together, they voted to donate $75,000 of the largesse they controlled to the Arab American Action Network. The AAAN was co-founded by Rashid Khalidi, a longtime SUPPORTER of PALESTINIAN RESISTANCE ATTACKS AGAINST ISRAEL, which he openly regards as a RACIST, APARTHEID STATE. Despite considerable evidence to the contrary, Khalidi peremptorily denies having been a PLO OPERATIVE or having directed its official press agency for six years (from 1976 to 1982). There can be no gainsaying, though, that he was an influential apologist for YASSER ARAFAT, the TERROR master who spawned two Intifadas and ordered the MURDER OF AMERICAN DIPLOMATS.
In the mean, besotted United States, of course, being a terrorist, a terror apologist, or simply raging at the machine qualifies one for a cushy academic soapbox. Thus did Khalidi eventually land on his feet at the University of Chicago, where he ran in the same circles as Associate Dean Michelle Obama, Law Professor Barack Obama, University of Illinois-Chicago Education Professor Bill Ayers, and Northwestern Law Professor Bernadine Dohrn (wife of Ayers - who prepared for a career in instructing future officers of the court with a stint in federal prison for flouting a judges order that she testify in a grand jury investigation into the Weathermens infamous Brinks robbery-murders).
For Khalidi, though, greener pastures called: the opportunity to become a Professor of Arab Studies at Columbia University. There, he now DIRECTS Edward Saids legacy: COLUMBIAS NOTORIOUSLY ISRAEL-BASHING MIDDLE EAST INSTITUTE -- though, much to the Universitys chagrin, he was scratched in 2005 from a program designed to educate teachers on instructing their young students about the Middle East. New York City schools chancellor JOEL KLEIN CONCLUDED KHALIDIS SPLENETIC MEANDERINGS MIGHT NOT BE THE BEST MODEL.
THEY DID NOT FAZE BARACK OBAMA, THOUGH. He was front and center with Ayers and Dohrn AT A FAREWELL BASH when KHALIDI left Chicago for New York. It was only right. KHALIDI, after all, had HOSTED A FUNDRAISER for Obama in 2000, when the latter launched an unsuccessful campaign for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. And so it goes. A few weeks ago, Khalidi told worldnetdaily.com he supports Obamas presidential run BECAUSE HE IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE WHO HAS EXPRESSED SYMPATHY FOR THE PALESTINIAN CAUSE, and because Obama has PROMISED NEGOTIATIONS WITH IRAN.
Ayres, too, provided a minor ($200) contribution to Obama, in 2001. That was the year of September 11, just a few days before the Times published its excerpt of Ayers remembrances of bombings past. Read the short interview and ask yourself: Could ANYONE, LET ALONE SOMEONE AS SOPHISTICATED AS BARACK OBAMA, CHAT WITH BILL AYERS for about 30 seconds AND NOT KNOW EXACTLY WHERE HE IS COMING FROM?
Could they really have been friends? Well, Ayers is virtually channeling Michelle Obama and Jeremiah Wright when he wails that AMERICAN SOCIETY IS NOT A JUST AND FAIR AND DECENT PLACE.
God, what a great country, he (Ayers) scoffed to the Times. It makes me want to puke.
Hey, right back at you there, Professor. At least thats HOW MOST OF US ARE LIKELY TO feel. But NOT SEN. OBAMA. And that is why Ayers - like Khalidi and Wright and Michelle Obama, AND OTHERS WHO KNOW THE SENATOR (while WE HAVE BEEN TOLD PRECIOUS LITTLE) sees in Barack Obama the CHANGE HE HAS BEEN WAITING FOR.
NO THANKS!

Here's a thought you didn't mention, Howard: With some exceptions, the media coverage has poorly served the public throughout this race. To hear them tell it, It is a contest about lipstick and pigs. The mediators at the four debates largely refused to ask serious follow-up questions, or agreed to rules that limited that possibility, leaving the candidates to mouth well-rehearsed answers. The talking heads have become partisans on the right versus partisans on the left. The substantive coverage of what the candidates have done in their careers, and what they propose to do in office, has been slight and mostly limited to print media. Despite the moment of the election, the media has provided sound and fury--the standard horse-race coverage that every media figure decries in the off-years. What is lost in the news-cycle scramble? A clear conception of the four people running for office. How about the fact that McCain has flip-flopped on just about every major issue in his career? How about the fact that his running mate has spouted easily disprovable lies from the moment she debuted in Dayton? And what about the records of Obama and Biden in public office? Do they match their rhetoric?
In short, the game aspect of the race--which admittedly is fun--has taken over. Lost in the fuss over strategy and tactics is public information the voters need to make their decisions on. It is sad that the media performance in this election cycle has been so poor. It is as if the media folks have no idea that elections have consequences for real people. Who has asked the most probing questions in this race? The ordinary voters, when they've been given a chance. It wasn't a reporter who tripped up Palin on what the vice president does. It was a third grader. God bless him.
Detailed Rebuttal for rccolumbus and like-minded liberal sheep (IN PARENTHESES):
Sarah Palin as Governor of Alaska, a state of 1 million people, has a couple of years experience with "executive" matters
(quote marks not appropriate).
Mike Coleman has been Mayor of Columbus Ohio, a city of 1.75 million, for 8 years. His "executive" experience is greater than Palin's using your logic.
(Hey, moron – running a state is a little larger task than running a city in terms of the scope of issues, regardless of the population involved. Sarah Palin has also demonstrated strong character and principles in standing up to big oil interests in her state – does the mayor of Columbus have a similar track record?)
Palin is a hockey mom who was the Mayor of a small town and then the Governor who didn't even understand the function of the Vice Presidency
(where did you get that conclusion from?)
while Barack Obama is university educated in Constitutional Law
(so what? Then he’s qualified to be a federal judge maybe – not President, especially since being educated about the Constitution doesn’t necessarily mean you support it – and some of Obama’s recent statements suggest he takes exception to parts of a document he must swear to protect and defend if elected)
worked as a planner and organizer, and has run his own campaign
(oh, please – he’s been handled and managed from day one – can’t even speak without a Teleprompter),
including raising the money to fund it
(he did that himself, eh? R-i-i-i-ght!!),
as one of the most successful political campaigns ever mounted.
From my viewpoint, Barack Obama has all of the qualifications to be our President including the thoughtful, well informed, and steady leadership
(what leadership? He has parroted the same stock phrases throughout the campaign, saying nothing of substance, concealing the appeasement of terrorists and the ruinous tax hikes that his administration will mean to this country)
he has demonstrated openly throughout his campaign.
There is no possible way that the Republicans who are running against him can match Obama's leadership talents.
(WHAT HAS OBAMA EVER LED???)
We have suffered too many years under the fear that has been served up cold from the Republicans.
(FEAR caused by a Democratic Congress coercing banks to make millions of subprime mortgage loans and ruining our economy. What other fear are you referring to? Thanks to our successful efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq, we have been FREE from the fear of domestic terrorism, which I FEAR will change once your boy is in office.)
I'm looking forward to the hope and promise
(boy, are you in for a rude awakening)
of a new direction and the changes that will come from a paradigm shift to a new Democratic leadership.
(With Obama in the White House, Democratic Congress and a filibuster-proof Senate, there will be changes all right – to a socialist regime that will make FDR look like Ronald Reagan.)
Oh, Dang Media Bias, then there's ACORN, defrauded by it's own lazy workers, turning in false voter registrations, that ACORN winds up having to flag, after having already paid them to GOTV, slowing down cards being sent to LEGITIMATE new voters, in order to vote in time by the election, and casting doubt on the MANY legitimate new voters they register every election, somehow being attributed to Obama, for his association with the ILL. branch of the NATIONAL org., who has only joined with them to GOTV, as has MCCAIN in 2006, not to mention McCain's own GOTV group being brought under investigation. With all the Repub voter SUPPRESSION tactics of voter intimidation, voter caging, leading to voter purging of the rolls, faulty machines, not having enough machines or polling places always in predominately Dem districts, and exact match policies, and now questioning the citizenship of AA Georgians, in order to disenfranchise voters (who have to get birth certificates, and wind up not being able to vote except to cast provisional ballots that we all know are never counted), as well as confusing them with those on felon lists, and using foreclosure lists, does any of this bother you or seem negative to you?
A 3% increase after $250,000 with no additional tax applied to the first $250K. And this is not a new tax - this is what the taxes were BEFORE the Republicans gave the rich this tax. It is not a tax rate they have always had. It is a TEMPORARY tax repeal that McCain wants to make permanent. Jobs grew before the tax was repealed. This will have NO EFFECT on job growth. Most PEOPLE don't create jobs, anyway, businesses do. And the alleged "highest taxes in the world" corporate tax rate the Republicans scream about is nonsense. There are so many tax credits and loopholes that according to a recent GAO report approximately 75% of corporations pay NO TAXES. And those that do, pay much less. As Warren Buffett said, his tax rate is 18%; less than his secretary's. This is how a progressive tax system works. It is NOT socialism.
I refuse to vote for anyone who claims to have the veterans interests at heart but doesn't. McCain was opposed to the GI Bill Webb proposed and didn't even bother to go vote against it, much less for it.
I refuse to vote for someone who claims to be against torture, but voted against the bill that mandated EVERYONE, including the CIA follow the Army Field Manual's instructions on the issue.
I refuse to vote for someone who has repeatedly voted against equal pay for women.
I refuse to vote for someone who wants to give me $2500 (as a single person) to purchase health care that already costs more than that.
I refuse to vote for someone who will take the Supreme Court further right, especially after they voted down the case of the woman who learned she was not being paid equally for the same job men were doing on the basis that the statute had ran BEFORE she even knew she was being cheated. In every single court in this country, the statute does not begin to toll until AFTER the discovery of the act.
I want my country back from the thugs who have given everything to, as Bush calls the Republican base, the "haves and the haves more."
This race has been over for weeks. Why do you, and others, keep the life-support on?
palin is in way over her head when she was mayor of wasilla she started a personal property tax and when she left they were in the red .she is not building a pipe line either she gave 500 million to the oil companys .ak has been trying to build one since the 70"s its a pie dream.the state gave out a energy rebate but we pay more for gas and oil than any body way more.TRickle down econics doesn't work .companys don't just go over sea's because of taxes they go because of less enviromental laws no ss for workers etc. so who are they really for ,themselves .ITs called greed the less regulation the more greed

November 5th. the voters are gonna give Johnny Boy and his Bimbo VP pick one-way tickets back to where they can do minimal damage and finish out what's left of their political careers!
With a non biased media McCain would be up 10 or more. Obama is like the Wizard of Oz and Dorothy keeps trying to pull the curtain open. Obama has no record of meaningful legislative accomplishment. He is JUST WORDS.
After spending nine years in Navy Intelligence as a Cryptologist, intercepting communications from Marxist/Socialist countries, breaking their codes, and gathering intelligence in "other" ways. I am familiar with their methods of using the media for propangada, using the educational system to indoctrinate young minds, using the judicial system, and voter fraud to steal elections.
This is what is happening now in america.
From everything I have researched in the last two years, has lead me to conclude that Obama was selected, tutored, groomed, scripted, and financed by Radical Marxist/Socialists to become the puppet leader of the USSA.
There is a vast difference between Social Democrats and Radical Marxist/Socialists. Hillary Clinton is a Social Democrat. Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Schumer, Durbin, Franks,Boxer, and a few others now in Congress are Radical Marxist/Socialists.
On my website: [valsword.spaces.live.com] I have a 16 minute video of an interview with Yure Bezmenov a KGB agent who defected in 1970. This interview was recorded 24 years ago,
and the transcript highlights, in Yuri's own words confirm what I mentioned in the first paragraph.
I pray that I am wrong, but from everything I have researched, I believe Obama, with a Reid Pelosi led Congress, with a radical judicial system will pull a Hugo Chavez.
In a recent address to his subjects, carried by fiat on all of the nation’s television channels, Venezuela’s authoritarian president Hugo Chávez Frias, who has previously taken over the airways for the celebration of his own birthday, now turned his country’s attention to more urgent matters. The time had come, he explained, to move the “Bolivarian revolution” from its Lenin-like beginnings of transitional capitalism towards a more robust command economy. The nation had at last “broken the chains of the old, exploitative capitalist system,” he said. “The state now has the obligation to build the model of a socialist economy.”
The next stage of the socialist revolution will require making thirty-three separate amendments to the Venezuelan constitution—a document Chávez previously rewrote upon his ascension to Miraflores Palace in 1999. The most dramatic and controversial change will eliminate presidential term limits, ensuring the fulfillment of Chavez’s promise not to leave office until 2021. To Hugo Chávez, a permanent revolution requires that he wield permanent power. It’s a risky move, considering recent opinion polls showing a majority of Venezuelans skeptical to further constitutional “reform,” especially if it means the possibility of adopting a President Chávez for life. But the same public, polling data demonstrates, also opposed the government’s refusal to renew a broadcast license for RCTV, the country’s oldest and most anti-Chávez private television network, and that storm seems to have passed.
can i ask you a question?
who the f*** cares if you don't vote for obama?
when he wins, commandingly, who will give a flying f--- that you're lame ass dint vote for him?
i mean,
for all your wasted typing/tirade,
i was left wondering why your vote matters..
my advice to you...
take your "ten reasons" (that no one gives a sh-t about and move to south america or somewhere)
mjminfl - while I am not crazy about Palin - lets be a little more accurate shall we - she was a Council Woman, a Mayor, sat on an energy commision and is a Governor - as for Obama a community organizer, a State Senator and 2 years as a US Senator ..it is really almost 4 years as a US Senator but he has spent almost 2 years of that running for President, so for actual time spent working in office it is just 2 years...as for the 9/11 bombers Clinton had the same information before Bush had it, so lets not go there either, it was only in hindsight that anyone (Bush or Clinton) could put those pieces together
and for every issue about Palin there is one for Biden and for every one about McCain there is one for Obama......these people are politicians, they all have things they don't want us to know or that they would prefer we would forget
LOVE THE TEN POINTS ABOUT OBAMA BY SHARENEWS. WAY TO GO!!! MCCAIN WILL WIN!

Dang Media Bias (posted Oct. 29, 2088@ 5:00p.m.), are you just as concerned about the negativity from the McCain campaign, who promised an honorable campaign with no negativity, or the hate-filled rhetoric from HIS supporters, shouting "terrorist," "off with his head," "kill him," and "bomb him"at Palin rallies? You say that you don't "advocate the hate," but are you just as "disturbed" by socialist (when Palin "spread the wealth" in AK for them to share collectively from taxing Big Oil, and McCain repudiated the same Bush tax cuts for the wealthy in 2000 and 2001, that he now endorses, when America has BEEN having a graduated tax code, and it's just a matter of whether it more favors the wealthy or the middle class, that the only way NOT to doistribute wealth is to pay no taxes/have no gov., that the GOP once thought that SS, Medicare and Medicaid were welfare generally and "socialism," when "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelbacher is a FRAUD who claims that Obam would be the death of Israel, avoids paying taxes, isn't a licensed plumber, was already a financially donating McCain supporter (a plant posing as an independent/undecided voter), whose income would benefit from Obama's tax plan, as he neither makes the money to buy his boss' business, nor does his boss' income fall under the top category who would see tax increases under Obama's plan? Do uppity, elitest, cosmopolitan, presumptuous (competent, confident, presidential?), 'other'/not one of us, celebrity, not "sharing our values," "palling around with terrorists" (McCain - G. Gordon Liddy?), Wright, Pfleger, Ayres, Rezko (Obama doesn't share their views and has said as much, and is no more guilty than McCain in the Keating 5), Emil Jones (hunh?), Rashid Khalidi (now, there's something wrong with being on a peace in the Middle East board, that McCain gave an almost $500K grant toanother org. by that same Khalidi in the 90's?), racially-motivated muslim (a lie - he's a Christian), not American/fake birth certificate, some parts of America more "pro-America" than others, an "American president for America" (is there any other kind?), anti-cosmopolitan/global, anti-urban rhetoric, not pro-Israel/anti-Jew, anti-white, etc., etc., etc., McCain playing 'follow the leader' with Obama on the "change" message (when he was "experience," "reform, prosperity, peace"), and campaign tactics/ads (but following Rove, with tone), giving most of his plans as summed up basicly as "I'm not Obama" or answering questions with POW as the answer to policy - does any of tha bother you, or only Dem frustration at GOP hatred, voiced wrongly and reactively?
What I think FINEMAN meant to say what that he can't believe that the overwhelmingly biased media has failed to put him over the top. Why is the LA Times hiding a tape of Obama, praising a PLO operative at a dinner with his "buddy" Bill Ayers? Why did it take until just the past week for the Public Radio interview with Obama in 2001, when he called it a "tragedy" that the Supreme Court did not delve into "income redistribution" during the civil rights era, and when he also said our Constitution has a "fatal flaw" because it doesn't give the power to the government to insure equal outcomes. Why did is take until 2007 for the identity of Obama's "Uncle Frank" childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, from his 1995 Book, Dreams from my Father, to be identified? Why was that identification made by a Communist historian, Gerald Horne, rather than the media? (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Marshall_Davis)
I can tell you why - because our media has failed to do their job - PERIOD. The fact that this man, who freely admits to Marxist associations throughout his life (Google - Dreams from my Father - marxist professors) is even in the race at this point - due to a lack of basic media scrutiny - is an insult to our political institutions. The fact that he may yet win, and gain the ability to at least attempt to implement his "redistribute the wealth" strategies, causing catastrophic damage to our economy is unfathomable.
OKALAHOMA !!!! LOUISIANA!!!!!
WHY ARE YOU A RED STATE WHEN YOU HAVE MORE DEMOCRATES IN YOUR STATE?
WANT 4 MORE YEARS?

sjpersonal - You're right, I didn't realize your post was a response. Sorry.
************************************************
No problem, by the way I apologize for the attitude. This election is making a lot of us really touchy. Hope your day is going well. I cannot wait until next Wednesday LOL!
I think that if Obama can succeed on Tuesday, we'll be able to see the real runaway campaign come 2012, after Obama would have had the chance to calm fears of "socialism", "otherness", and all the other hot buttons conservatives try to scare folks off with with a calm, level-headed, and successful presidency.
Do you believe that Fineman accepts, as understandable, that the media has been fawning over Obama and admits it in writing? Can this guy be anymore stupid or lacking in self-perception?
Each opinion has some validity if no more than toexpress our togetherness in our concerns for this country. If we could take just one grain of sand from each comment I believe we would have a fundamental American arena where the troubles that loomwould be minor and we could actually agree to disagree, yet the hint of racism seems to continue to cast a shadow on this election.
Regardless, Obama has inspired this nation to participate as never before. In that case I believe we will continue to participate in its governing beyond this election. We want change and no matter who is elected we will have change and the participation of the younger voters is going to make sure it continues. If we really open our eyes nothing is as it use to be. The younger community is going to assure their future and that is where the difference is in this election. We tell them to say no to drugs and then ask them to not be influenced by a smooth taking candidate who appears to have hypnotized a nation andthe world. YOU CAN NOT SAY NO TO DRUGS UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN CONFRONTED WITH THE STORY BEFORE. The younger generation is taking a stand for their future and no amount of our old political views and eloquent observatgions is going to change that. It is THEIR TIME toreach for a BETTER WORLD. They already feel the hopelessness all the foolishness as gotten us. They are ready to live or die as one voice and the only candidate that is will to give them the voice they rightly deserve after we have created this mess is OBAMA. They (Black, White, Hispanic, Asian etc.) not only want to vote they want to be heard in every arena of society. If things go wrong they are ready to stand and be accountable to us and the world. No fear in a common cause. This is about our children. We are voting for our children and their future and racism is a joke and no longer motivates our actions.
Additionally, I find is ofensive that many would think the Blacks are voting for Obama just because he is Black. They are much more asute than you may concieve. He speaks not only to our hearts, but. the desperation the world feels that now shadows America. We can live together as oneand the economy is not goiing to make it happen whether things turn out rosey or not., We need a change of heart and McCain is just more of the same deviseness. If doom looms whether it be economically, financially, terrorism, etc., I want to be holding hands with anyone and I don't care what color they are. How can you know the heart of the people if you have not seen into it. Just my unbiased opinion.
IT is much closer than the media is saying. Your article is correct in saying we are a culturally divided country and morally divided. I have lived in big cities and now small town - country America. City folk do not understand by and large that small town America is how America started. Shooting 22's with Grandma and eating apple pie with family is ok. We do not all have to use ipods and cell phones to get it. The abortion issue will haunt Obama and he can't escape the taxes he needs for his socialized programs. Facts are facts. The heartland will rally and win this one for McCain and the common man.
I think McCain hangs in there because he has the most impressive bio of any candidate running for the presidency since Eisenhower. He was both a POW and a respected member of the Senate with a long career. As recently as '04, he was the most respected politician in the country - of either party. He was loved by the media. How could he be stopped?
He was beaten by his own party, by a stubbornly reactionary base, and by making a terrible pick for VP. And he couldn't shake himself free of George Bush, the most incompetent president in modern times. But John McCain, in isolation, was quite a candidate. His fall from grace is Shakespearean.
Wait a moment, let me understand your position.
- Obama is not patriotic because because he has been photographed without a flag lapel pin yet you continue to consider Bush to be patriotic after he misled his country about the validity of the intelligence regarding WMD's in Iraq.
-Obama is a socialist because he believes all people should pay taxes yet you support an administration that has given $700 Billion dollars to Wall Street (and if they would have gotten their way with no oversight.
Obama doesn't have enough experience to be President but then you support a candidate that picks a running mate who's experience is a beauty contest runner up and living in close proximity to Russia.
You blame the Clinton administration for allowing terrorist planes to fly into buildings yet you support the very President that had intelligence that could have been used to thwart 911 but disregarded it.
You have to see how irrational this line of thinking is, right?
judejaded - are you sure you teach a class in crtical thinking? You don't seem to have much respect fro the differing opinions of others which would lead me to believe you don't think that reasonable minds could arrive at different conclusions. If you do in fact teach a class in critical thinking, students with opinions that differ from yours must pay a very dear price. How very boring your classes must be...and how little your students must learn. Differing opinions and robust discourse are the best soil for sowing the seeds for thought to grow. But that would be so .....politically incorrect to teach them independent thought rather than what you want them to think....yep....keep turning them out in your image...you think you are teaching them to think but you are deluding yourself and them. How can that be when you do not have respect for the opinions of others and demean the politics of others......
Same here. As one of Obamas Propaganda Ministers,Fineman has not been able to make the sale just yet despite a juggernaut of Obama press minions all busily preparing the way for the Expected One. A ''tightening race''is due to the factors Fineman refers to as the ''small stuff'''that his downgraded-stock [S&P,MOODYS] NEWSWEAK is presently ignoring.
1. Issue voters who may be squeamish on Palin are nevertheless sick and tired of the rampant sexism displayed by the press and private individuals aimed at this woman. One may imagine the uproar in NEWSWEAK over an Obama being hung in effigy, that they dismiss regarding Palin.
2. Obama is not off the Ayers hook. Try as they might to steer towards ''issues'',something new always seems to get in the way. This time,a videotape of Ayers,Dohrn and Obama giving the grand sendoff to a former Yasser Arafat spokesmouth at a 2003 Chicago soiree.
3. Conservatives are making the most in the battlegrounds of Ohio and Florida where in the former,an Obama supporter in a position of responsibility as a director of a state agency[Ohio Jobs and Family, Helen Kelly-Jones ],OKed the release to the press of private official documents pertaining to ''Joe the Plumber'',launching a state AGs investigation. In Florida, the Obama campaign in the critical central portion of the state sent a threatening letter to a news station shutting them off from all further contact with Obama, after they whined over a Gibson-Palin shoe-on-the-other-foot moment with Joe Biden getting a tough interview by an Orlando reporter this time around.
4. The REPO [Reid Pelosi Obama] appears to be having some effect. Blame Fineman and his media stooges for not getting out the word that the Democrats are indeed, looking at a Socialist playbook in the areas of tinkering with TAFT-HARTLEY,eliminating private 401k plans, giving ''tax breaks''to 40% of America that does not even pay taxes, cutting defense spending for beefing up welfare entitlement programs by 25%,initiating the union ''card check''policy, and establishing a carbon tax on top of a windfall tax, which worked so well the last time around [Carter,1978].
You can quit acting like Claude Rains in ''Casablanca''any time now Howard.
If the ONE loses, will you change the Magazine's name back to Newsweek, from Obamaweek?
Too bad I won't know if you will of not because I cancelled it about a month ago because that puppies have been successfully housebroken.
If Obama loses the election, please don't blame it on racism. I have no problem voting for someone of another race than I am. I do have a problem voting for someone whose background of associations is suspect, whose experience is limited to a state level representative and a half year nationally, and who outspends his opponent 4 to 1, and who has had no real "vetting" from the press. And I believe, many people can see through the "fawning" and believe that it is NOT justified, but it is absolutely obscene. What will happen if he does win? Will any of the press ever criticize him, or will this be like the Soviet Union's Pravda? Very scary.

FROM THE DREAMS OF MY FATHER: "I ceased to advirtise my mothr's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites."
"I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity AGANST MY MOTHER'S RACE."
"It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names."
"Inever emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela."
And Finally the most Damning one of all of them!!!!
From AUDACITY OF HOPE: "I WILL STAND WITH THE MUSLIMS SHOULD THE POLITICAL WINDS SHIFT IN AN UNGLY DIRECTION."
i DON'T CARE WHETER YOU ARE A dEMOCRAT OR cONSERVATIVE. we cannot TURN OURSELVES OVER TO THIS TYPE OF CHARACTER IN A president.
*************************************************************************************************
Do any of you understand that everytime you post something as stupid as this you are just proving that YOU DO NOT READ AND HAVE NEVER READ ANY OF OBAMA'S BOOKS. These quotes are not......I repeat ARE NOT IN HIS BOOKS. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE START READING BEFORE YOU POST COMMENTS SO THAT YOU CAN REPLY WITH SOME SMALL MEASURE OF INTELLIGENCE.
What we see is the effect of lies and misrepresentation in American politics. Apparently, this works for enough of the electorate ahead of their voting.
The question is: Will the electorate actually believe the negative stuff (McCain) when they vote or will they decide that they would rather feel better about their prospects (vote for Obama)...?
I think it is as simple as that.
Unfortunately, many people in this country, especially the younger generation, don't know how socialistic/communistic society really works.
Also unfortunatley, I have lived long enough to see the likes of Obama who came before him, i.e. Mao Se Tung, Ho Chi Minh, and Hitler!!!! All these guys came into the scene and gave very eloquent speeches to brainwash the people on hope and change for the people and by the people. Well I don't need to tell you how these stories ended. So to all you brainwashed Obamamites, be careful what you wish for!!!!
"Don't believe in what the communists say but look into what they're doing!!!"
Re: Miande
Shame on white America, but it can redeem itself on Tuesday.
Are you suggesting that if America doesn't put a black man in the White House, then we are all
racist? I don't think so.
I's 73 years old and I have never seen such a poor selection of candidates to be our President!
I'm afraid that we will get what we deserve and it doesn't look good. The only bright spot is that
God is in control of who gets elected.
I know this is going to be taken the wrong way but it is a genuine concern, How come 95 to 98% of the African American community is voting for Obama and nobody is willing to admit that or call that issue to task. There seems to be an unfair pass on this one. I feel like as a white male I am on the defensive even though I would prefer to have Condalisa Rice over MCCain and vote for her gladly over lets say Hillary or some other white candidate. I feel like there may be alot of racizm on the other side. Why isn't anybody honest enough to admit that.. I know wrongs were done and may still be going on and I am sorry for them but the abuse must be acknowledged by all. Sorry if this is offensive or I missed the point
Economists, even Republicans like Colin Powell, prefer Obama's stance on economics. Go ask former Republican Governor Weld of MA. He thinks Obama's economic and healthcare plans are "brilliant" and hang together with his tax policy. That is why he is supporting Obama. All I get from Republicans is more blather that got us into the current mess - "trickle down, voodoo economics", 'deregulation", and then they race over to point the finger at Jimmy Carter for the melt down. If you morons can't accept responsibility for your actions and inactions, then stay out of the kitchen. You are shallow. Even Greenspan admitted last week that he may have over relied on the ability of financial institutions to police themselves. What part of this picture do these freaking morons not get?
The only electoral map hope McCain has - if the election is close - is to win Virginia and of course NH and Nevada. the Virginia polls worry me because the graph overtime seems unusual as compared to other states, there is too much spread after Sept 20, way more that could be explained by the financial crisis, again comparatively to other states..
I am a disabled veteran who was slapped in the face and given a 10% disability for a serious
back injury while another veteran was given 30% for hemorrhoids. This happened while the
Democrats were in control. Another veteran I know well has a large portion of his right arm
muscle missing and 10% for his service. Obama has not been in his job long enough to get
that kind of grade. Go to the nearest VA hospital and ask around. Republicans still treat the
veterans best. That being said, I still think that America is still not serious about the state of
our Government if Obama and McCain are the best we have to offer. Stop fighting over who
is most qualified, neither are. One does not have the experience and the other is to old and
set in his ways to make the proper changes. Neither candidate appears to have done his
homework and just opens his mouth and comes what crap it takes to get elected, knowing that
without the right people in Congress, if it does not happen, Congress will take the blame.
It is their job to set the policies that run this country and where the real work is done.
If neither candidate has the support of Congress, nothing will change.
DW Pitts,
So what Vladimir Lenin was a lawyer too. Your point? Oh wait, I get it now...they are now both politicians and Lenin was the first head of Russian Soviet Socialist Republic, I wonder what the other guy's title will go down in history as?
Peace out.
only in America would a completly inferior opponent still have a chance... McCain has lied, smeared, spread FUD until he is blue in the face... he has pulled every negative trick he could and about the only thing he hasnt tried is assasination.... and yet still some people support him... and these are people who would be FAR better off under a different party.... I mean sure.. if your crazy rich... by all means.. support McCain.... but for the rest of us... he could care less.... he only needs our bodies for his wars.... the rich for some reason just wont fight them...
Mr. Fineman hasn't much to say, but he sure takes a lot of words to say that.
There is nothing unusual about the presidential race at this stage. Senator Obama has the same 50-51% of the electorate that he has had for weeks. Nothing is slipping at all. In fact, Senator Obama's position in Battle States has strengthened. This is where the presidential race is won and Senator Obama has 255 electoral votes in his pocket and a little over 100 more leaning his way. You need 270 votes to win the presidency. Senator McCain needs to win almost all of these states back- many that have Senator Obama with a 7-12% lead. Senator McCain needs to win these states within 5 days. 20% of the registered voters have voted early and 50% may vote by Friday. That doesn't leave much wiggle room. Mr Fineman is a bit mixed up and a bit silly, but it probably isn't surprising at this stage. There are a lot of silly people out there right now.
Here is the difference between wealth distribution that the Obamaunist want and what Sarah Palin did with the Oil companies
Mutal Voluntary Contract
Shell - Hey Alaska we would really like to drill on your shorte
Alaska - Well ok, but in exchange this is what we would like
Shell - Deal, lets do it
Wealth Redistribution
Government - Point a gun at your head, GIVE ME YOUR FING MONEY
You - But...
Government - BANG!
There is the difference you leftist morons
I wonder while you left this out of your analysis; Obama is basically all style, he has no substance, no track record to support many of his statements, and more importantly, on the main issues Obama does not have the right answers.
A recent poll asked;
Do you think tax cuts or tax spending we’ll get us out of the economic mess? About 9% said tax spending, 80+ said tax cuts. McCain right, Obama wrong.
Do you think the president should work on increasing wealth, or redistributing wealth. Again, McCain right, Obama wrong (about 65 / 30%).
2008 is the year the national media lost what little integrity and creditability it had.
Obama has been handled like no candidate has ever been handled. Instead of probing and/or follow up questions, instead of researching into his background, his experiences or his voting records, the national media, including your paper, chose instead to applaud, praise, cheer, and defend him and his associates. They cover things like; Obama’s campaigning skills, his ability to raise money, his cool, his speaking ability. The media will not ask tough questions, instead they ask him how he liked being on the cover of magazines, if he thought his grandmother would be proud?
The national media never had any intention knowing what Obama stands for, what makes him who he is, and what direction he’ll take the country. Three reasons for this; the dreaded “racist” tag, most of the media is very liberal, but more importantly; Obama is a big news event, an event the media does want to be left out of.
Don’t worry as long you keep cheering him and defending him, you’ll be invited to all the big events, like; the new New Deal, the new Great Depression, the new and powerful Soviet Union, the end of Israel, sky-high inflation, unemployment, and interest rates--- just to name a few.
But beware, don’t ask questions that Obama and friends don’t like, because then you’re off the list.
Sometimes America needs a real kick-in-the-mouth, sometimes America takes a while to figure things out.
You’re seeing the 2008 election has the ending point of a great campaign , I’m seeing it has a possible starting point for the implosion of the Democratic party, and the national media. It may take a few years to come to fruition, but with Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, a liberal Supreme Court, and you guys--- there can be no doubt as to the outcome.
This up and coming evil genius fellow Burningbush below,
goes by many names on the blogs.
He insistently and consistently tries to:
tie the presidential candidates to TERRORISM,
under the guise of "there's nothing wrong with....."
and whatever sleaze he is trying to push.
Barak means 'Blessed one' by the way.
You left that out.
missbehave,
Just a minor note: As President of the Harvard Law Review, and a fully credentialed lawyer, you do realize that Obama's area of specializtion is (wait for it): United States CONSTITUTIONAL LAW
If you are going to go hard after a person's character, at least, attempt to maintain some semblance of accuracy, please.
And I don't know, if it were a Republican, and seriously considiering the arena of constitutional law over the last 8 years, I don't think I would have the gall or audacity to accuse a real constitutional lawyer of destroying the constitution, given the performance of the Bush Adminsitration in regards this subject matter.
Maybe if you take a moment and reflect, you will understand some of the blowback coming from this type of rhetoric....just a thought. But you will never convince some of us independents with that type of logic (or the lack thereof).
Remember the old adage of pointing a finger at somebody?
Polls mean nothing. What matters is who comes out on Tuesday (or who already voted through Absentee Ballot or Early Voting). Obama is a very likable guy. He's charismatic, intelligent, and obviously driven. While those things and our current economic state draw people in, we really have to decide if we are hurting and want someone to make it better with promises they can't keep (no president is going to fix our personal finances), or really look into the true character and track record on issues that matter to us. And, I mean LOOK INTO IT! Don't rely on the television ads, because they are all (both sides) very misleading! When I look into Obama's plans and track record, I'm scared to see how many people are blindly following him.
What a waste of time on this trash article Howie. Your supposition is based upon racism.
..not all repugs are stupid..the power elite isn't.. maybe. they dont trust an america that's well educated, wealthy and wise. its been like that throughout history. all the rest of you gop'ers are fools
Excuse me, Howard, but I speak Swahili and there is NO Swahili in any of Obama's three names. Obama is Luo, Hussein you know already, and Barack is Arabic. There exists a word, "baraka" in Swahili which comes from the root Arabic "Barack". If the father had wanted to use the Swahili derivative he certainly would have known it as any Kenyan or even casual visitor to Kenya would, since it is very common, but he chose specifically an Arabic name. I don't know where you got that but I would be interested to know if you made it up or got that from someone else. Obama made a joke at the dinner in New York about his hame being Swahili but I don't think even he would be unaware that it is Arabic. Any Swahili word or name will end in a vowel. Since Swahili is not the language of any tribe but is a trade language of mixed Arabic and Bantu, it has many Arabic-originated words, but Barack is not one, it has no Swahili at all in it. Luo is a tribe language that is Bantu and has nothing to do with Swahili, which is where Obama comes from.
There is nothing wrong with having an Arabic or Moslem name, so there is no reason to hide it.
Democrats in the Clinton white house left us in a world where terrorist were allowed to fly planes into our buildings, BJ Clinton was too busy in the whitehouse with "Other things"
Democrats have controlled congress for two years, in that time they have cratered a stable economy by helping their political cohorts cook the books at Fanny Mae / Freddie Mac.
Barney Frank gets his boyfriend hired to the tune of 400K at F/F until discovered, now he's back selling table lamps at crate and barrel.
Obama is on record saying he wants judges to be posted that dont belive in the constituion
Leftist are saying Palin is not qualified to be President, but someone who thinks an unrpentent terrorist is a great guy, and who votes not present 90% of the time is.
Biden, when he is not drunkely singing an offbeat show tune, is so confused he doesnt know what day it is, and McCain is the one who has poor judgment in running mates?
Oh if the Obamunist gets in wiht the help of the MSM we will get change all right, change to Socialist rule via a Mussolini with happy face for at least 2 years, we will be butt raped by every petty third world dictator out there because the Dem's are too damned cowardly to swat a fly, let alone stare down a tyranical maniac, and our economy will self implode which people like that scumstress Nanci "Facelift" Pelosi will celebrate.
40% of the American people are in this for "Free Stuff" 20% are scum, the other 40% better get ready fo one really really apocoleptic style meltdown if this Facist gets into power, he will make Carter look competent by comparison
Why is it still a Race? Because of the "Big Lie's" almost every "right -wing" post continues them.Everything from"he's not a natural-born citizen" , he's a socialist ,to claiming he is not a Christian, and lets not forget those those bad associations of his, The Third-Reich propoganda ministry would be proud of You.
Citzenship: You are a natural born citizen if you are born here-legal therory Jus Soli, means of the soil. Thats why children born of illegal immigrents are citizens. OR you are a natural born citizen if Your parents are citizens--legal theroy... Jus Sanguinis, means of the blood or by blood -right. Thats why John McCain is a natural born citizen even when he was born in Panama.
He's a socialist because he talks about redistributing wealth...Taxes are a redistribution of wealth to fund things that government must do because we as individuals cannot ,the difference between Republicans and Democrats is that Republicans believe that we should lift the richest boats in the water ,where Democrats believe we should lift all the boats in the water.
He's not a Christan...well he says he is and nothing has been shown other wise. Some claim the proof is the school he attended as a child, well as we all know children do not have much of a say as to where they go to school or Church. My family changed Churches a number of times while I was growing up. I would also like to point out that some Christians are behaving in a very-un-Christian manner.
Guilt by association...All those bad people he "hangs around" , Well one should be carefull about our friends but are we personally responsible for every individual on a board or committe we serve on? John McCain and Sarh Palin ,are they to be rebuked for their associations if Obamma is? If McCain brings up Rezko should Obsmma bring up Keating? When they bring up Ayres should Obamma bring up The U.S. Council for World Freedom ,McCain was on the board and they were affiliated with, “former Nazi collaborators and ultra-right-wing death squads in Central America.”
When Palin says Obamma is Anti-American should we ask her about Todd Palin’s membership in an anti-American, pro-secessionist Alaskan political party. If they bring up Rev.Wright should Obamma bring up Hagee ,who has referred to the Roman Catholic Church as "the great whore"
Please notice that the Obamma camp has not gone down the same path as McCain . Maybe McCain should remember something about "casting stone's
Unfortunately many Black people are going to vote for Obama solely because of the color of his skin!
Not because of their convictions, or because they really understand what Obama is proposing or what he stands for ...
unfortunately some White people are also going to vote for Obama without a true understanding of what he stands for...but for the image he portrays, or because it is a fashionable thing to do.
I would venture as far as to say that some people vote for McCain just because of Obama's skin color
but likely the majority of votes McCain will get are going to be conviction and conscience votes
in contrast to the majority of votes for Obama
I cannot take credit for this but it's for all of those who still won't get informed about Obamas accomplishments and state this is the reason they cannot vote for him:
OBAMA, THE MULTI-TASKER
I'd like to answer that question with reference to both candidates work for voters and legislative achievements in the Senate during the two year period, 2007-2008, while they were campaigning. This information is available on the US Senate website.
McCain sponsored 158 bills, 22 of which he introduced and 20 were just commemmorative resolutions. McCain only sponsored 4 bills in 2008, the rest were in 2007. Obama, on the other hand, sponsored 481 bills , all on major domestic and global policy issues, 129 of which he inntroduced and 196 of them were sponsored by him in 2008. So his productivity in the Senate on legislation is three times that of McCain.
Obama presented 17 oral statements from the floor of the Senate, again on key issues, McCain managed only one. Obama published 78 written statements, letters to the President or members of his administration, such as Treasury Secretary, issue-based requests for action to be taken, etc.
Including 5 during September on the topic of Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac. McCain issued little after April 2008. Obama also published 4 4-color newsletters summarizing the legislative work of his office and sicussing issues under debate. McCain published none.
So, when McCain camp says (as Governor Palin did) "Senator Obama has never authored a major law when in either senate", it's an outright and shameless lie, unfortunately American voters are lazy and listen to what they're told and don't research for themselves.
Obama's legislative record and Senate achievements are significant compared with McCain's, and he has continued throughout the campaign attending to his senate work, dropping the pace only a little. He is a multi-tasker, a multi-achiever and as for McCain's claim to be a leader in the area of bipartisan relations - in the period noted, Obama sponsored around 25 or so bipartisan bills and McCain only 4 or 5. Please note, it was not the GOP who called for McCain to come to Washington, it was McCain who decided to try avoid putting either himself or Palin before the public in a time-honored debate format.
I hope this clarifies prior questions about Obama's experience, qualifications and dedication as a US Senator for his achievements far out perform McCain.
Instead of writing fawning puff pieces, why don't you do a little real reporting look into who wrote the book 'Dreams of my Father', hint, Wm Ayers. Then if you can get off your ass, see iof you can't find out where the plagiarizer was really born. Once again , a hint. Africa
missbehave:
Obama has "distaste" for the Constitution? In what way? You are aware that he taught Constitutional Law at Harvard, right? You are aware that he knows more about the laws and the constitution than Bush, McCain and Palin combined, right?
I find it so hypocritical that people say they wont vote for Obama not because they're racist, but because of some reason that is completely untrue. You're disguising your racism by choosing to believe things that are not only ridiculous if you think it through, but things that are simply not true!
Howard, your analysis sucks. You're quoting ONE poll. Aren't there about 12 national polls on any given day? Doesn't the Gallup Extended poll show a bigger lead? Aren't the state numbers growing - not shriking for Obama in the states he needs to win? I just think you should use real numbers when you put forth an argument like this and not just postulate theories.
There is no shame whatsoever in having two arabic names and one Luo but I still think we have to make it clear that none of his names is Swahili.
I wish I could take credit for the following, it's very astute. I copied it from another blog because it is well to the point.
A question of perspective :
Obama/Biden v.s. McCain/Palin, what if things were switched around?..... think about it. Would the country's collective point of view be different? Could racism be the culprit? Ponder the following:
What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three-month-old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?
What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee?
What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a severe disfiguring car accident?
What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he was still married?
What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to painkillers but also acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five?
What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
What if Obama couldn't read from a teleprompter?
What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing seven planes?
What if Obama was the one who was known to display publicly, on many occasions, a serious anger management problem?
What if Michelle Obama's family had made their money from beer distribution?
What if the Obamas had adopted a white child?
You could easily add to this list. If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

Education isn't everything, but this is about the two highest offices in the land as well as our standing in the world. You make the call
Here are some other reason:
1. He has never had a job in the private sector (nobody knows what a 'civil rights law firm' is.
2. He has never run anything in his life that he can point to.
3. He has no record in writing or even verbally which tells us who the hell he is.
4. Even his sycophants don't believe he is some 'bipartisan' 'moderate' 'pragmatist' 'bringing people together'
5. He is supported by radicals throughout the US and by Americas enemies around the world
6. He makes Mitt Romney look warm and fuzzy
7. Everywhere you look you have to see this guys face on something like some wierd 1984-esque government cult
8. Obama never appears to have bothered to become successful at his last job before asking for a promotion.
9. He is the least accomplished candidate to be nominated by either party in a century.
10. He really IS a Marxist and a lot of people don't think that is such a great idea.
11. Half of the country resents that the entire media & hollywood & the UN are kneeling for this novice.
12. 95% of Americans believe in God and already have a good idea of who their Messiah is (and he isn't from Chicago).
13. McCain isn't Bush and Bush is twice as popular as the Democrat Congress (which you guys ignore).
14. Maybe we love America enough not to want to through it away on a promise of 'change' from a person who has never created a job, done anything for us or even shown an understanding of why we love our country and people overseas may not. (German marxists don't count for much over here)
It is very sad when this country is so divided.
Obama...made mistakes. I do not think he is bad because of his association with anyone, Ayers, Wright or whoever. He may not have much experience but her has the obvious capacity to learn and grow.
Mcain...made mistakes. Keating 5, J Gordon Liddy or anyone else. He is an experienced senator who became a Mavrick when he tried to distance himself from Keating.
I am dissapointed that Mcain scraped bottom when he lowered himself to mud slinging with personal attacks which are sometimes proven lies.
I respect Obama because he tried to rise above the perrsonal attacks.
One president will get angry and my kids will die.
The other one gets angry and try diplomacy...talk to people.
If we want a good president, please focus on their capicity to learn and grow. No one should be given a position because of experience. If we are holding Obama's youth and inexperience against him, the we should hold Mcain's age and experience against him.
We tend to get stuck in our ways in our old age. The young person will learn and adapt.
I loved Mcain until he lost himself in mud slinging. This is still a race because ( as a white person I will say it) Obama is black and some people still can't bring themselves to vote for him, so they use every other reason they can find, true or not.
Why is so difficult to say that white Americans have such difficulty voting for a black man for President? THAT is the reason this election is not a rout. Shame on white Ameica, but it can redeem itself on Tuesday.
j.b.chubbs:
Obama has a better record of supporting our troops than McCain does. Visit IAVA.org to find out how they both voted - Obama gets a B and McCain gets a D. IAVA does not endorse candidates.
Also, what makes you think our troops are coming home if McCain gets in?
Parade a few more idiots who really believe that abortion is the issue.....and McPain can hang it up. Any reasonable person knows that McPain is too old, too rigid and too unbalanced to be President during these difficult times. Give me youth and energy and intelligence and I will give you hope!
Government is the only form of business that can create a future estimate based on current performance and when it does not happen as predicted manages to established it as a post fact. A previous comment was made that there was a surplus during the Clinton White House years, there was not. It was actually stated that there will be a 10 billion dollar surplus, if, the current econimc trends continue for 10 more years. The great dot com bust of the 90's occured the following fiscal year. The state of New Mexico issued stimulus checks to the tax paying citizens based on July crude and natural gas tax revevues. The checks started getting delivered in October (three month time lapse). The state issued a freeze on state government hiring effective November 19th due to the price of crude dropping over 50%, which was against what the democrate Governor belived would ever happen, and now the state is scrambling with cutbacks to keep the budget balanced. For those that believe that as individuals we should rely on the govenment to take care of personal fiscal responsibilities then Barak is your man. However, if 40 percent of American's don't have good healthcare, that means 60% do. If there are foreclosures of 3 million homes, then there are almost 100 million that are either paid for or their mortgages are not in default. If you believe that buying when the stock market is peaking and selling when it is falling you are destined to not have those savings and interest for retirement. This is the only country where everyone has the opportunity to create wealth and live the "American Dream" that is why it is call that; and the only ones who have created thier weatth through government assistance are the ones elected into office.
It is said. "If you are in college and you are not a democrate, you do not have a heart; if you graduate from college and you are not a republican, you do not have a brain."
I just want to say that Obama is a highly educated man and also that "race" has always been a factor in this election. To mary ann c & littleleers Obama is qualified and he has shown proof of his citizenship. He has not had strong ties to Ayers because he was only 8 when Ayers was causing trouble.Last of all Sara Palin is NOT as qualified as Obama because she has only been the Gov. of a town that holds less than 8,000 people that is less people than live in my town!!! In my conclusion, I might not be of voting age but I still know all of the facts too see who the better canadate is.
Of all of the arguments for Palin, and all of the arguments against Obama, the one about Executive experience is the most ridiculous. If you that a few years running a city of 5,000 people, and 20 months as governor of one of the smallest states in the US compares with running a 20-month Presidential campaign, then you're just not paying attention. Sarah Palin has been exposed as a fraud, and I predict that she won't be re-elected in Alaska. She snowed the voters up there to get elected, but every single thing that was said about her back in September has turned out to be false.
JohnDD - By no means do I consider The Bible, World History! I think you missed the sarchasm there... And I feel sorry for anyone who does! (PALIN)
asimile wields irony like a child wields a loaded gun. yes repugs are stoooopit because they bought into this obama has ties w/terrorist smear. jmac has ties w/ g gordon liddy..bush had ties w/bin laden, and sarah's husband belongs to a anti-american group, yet i'm that stupid to think they are terrorists

Americans are getting ready to make the worst decsion in american history! The only people that are voting for obama is bush haters, obama has pulled a wolf in sheeps clothing on a bunch of fools who think the world owes them something. He is hiding something and its going to bad when he taxes you fools and we get hit with more bombings on our soil. Obama and biden are the biggest clowns i have ever seen running for office. I guess if i was welfare and needed goverment help i would vote for obama to.Just remember obama is going to be someone's puppet!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
OMG! Do you have any idea how foolish you sound? "Wolf in sheep's clothing" and "he's hiding something"? Basically, you are voting based on ignorance and some unsupported hunch (ahem racism) that he is not trustworthy. And what is this big welfare argument about? Obama is prioritizing health-care, energy, and education first. Yes, welfare will still exist, just as it has under Bush. Where is the proof that Obama will somehow expand welfare?
benluclar,
OK, dueling lymericks it is then, lol.
Along came a man named McCain
he promised relief from the pain.
With his straight talk express,
Went full speed in reverse,
driving not train, but a hearse,
He next left all sanity for farse,
by pulling Ms. Palin, out from his ***.
Thank you, Thank you...no applause necessary, lol. I'd like to thank the academy, my moms and pops, and the inventor of super glue., and yes, duct tape too. Thank you. I am Dave the Bawdy Poet, and I approve this lymerick. Back to you ben.
I could care less what color Obama is, I don't agree with his liberal policies. McCain has EXPERIENCE. Obama's experience is supporting far left wing liberal organizations. He is buying the election and has the media in his pocket.
To not vote for McCain because of his age, however, is discrimination. he has much to offer his country and is a true patriot.
Obama's ideology, his distaste for our Constitution, which he will need to uphold, these are reasons why people should NOT vote for him.
To throw McCain under the bus b/c he is Republican is throwing out the baby with the bath water and illogical. What about the Democrat run congress? Are they blameless?
Obama supporters are hypnotized by his speeches. It takes more than a good speaker to lead a country.
Hey TRUTHGIRL
You do realize that "Egyptian fellow" is also an African-American right? Or did you not know that Egypt is an african nation!
On that topic, why do people of Ethnic background, whether born in US or not, Have to have their Ethnic label attached to American... If you are white and your background is British, Are you ever called British-American? No, just American, as if somehow more so American!
Very interesting comments! First Barack is Swahilli, not Arabic, although there may be a form in the middle east, but I doubt it! As an African-American, reponding to 'truthgirl," as a lesson in BLACK AMERICAN HISTORY, we took the name African-American, in part as a sense of belonging to a culture and country, because unlike man emigrants, most Africans did not come to the U.S. or colonies at the time willingly and culture, language and families were taken from us. After being called many derogatory names, leaders from our community encouraged the use of African-American for those that felt disinfranchised and the term over the years has stuck. Next girl of truth, to live in a mansion, small or large as it is as a means of making a fine home (not homes)for your family is nothing to be ashamed of and the secret service surround it to keep crack pots (like those that plotted an assassination) away. Before you take a friends explanation of events, I suggest you, as many in the public eye these days need to do, open a book and get your own information and check several sources, so your name: truthgirl, is accurate.
obama has not done one thing in the u.s. except run for president.
Arctific,
Sarah Palin as Governor of Alaska, a state of 1 million people, has a couple of years experience with "executive" matters. Mike Coleman has been Mayor of Columbus Ohio, a city of 1.75 million, for 8 years. His "executive" experience is greater than Palin's using your logic.
Palin is a hockey mom who was the Mayor of a small town and then the Governor who didn't even understand the function of the Vice Presidency while Barack Obama is university educated in Constitutional Law, worked as a planner and organizer, and has run his own campaign, including raising the money to fund it, as one of the most successful political campaigns ever mounted.
From my viewpoint, Barack Obama has all of the qualifications to be our President including the thoughtful, well informed, and steady leadership he has demonstrated openly throughout his campaign.
There is no possible way that the Republicans who are running against him can match Obama's leadership talents. We have suffered too many years under the fear that has been served up cold from the Republicans. I'm looking forward to the hope and promise of a new direction and the changes that will come from a paradigm shift to a new Democratic leadership.
The race may look tight, the fight may be hard, but the battle is won. Dr Martin Luther Kings dream must live on, prophecy must be fulfilled. I am just happy to be alive on this earth to see this historic moment. Throughout St Lucia in the Caribbean people are wearing Obama badges, sporting Obama stickers, flying Obama flags with Democratic decor, and we are not alone. I understood that this is happenng throughout the world.
Let's be reasonable: The Republicans have failed on Foreign policy, they have screwed up the safety of America, they have failed on social policy, not to mention tnat they have made a mess with the economy of the most powerful nation in the world. America is striving on the highest budget deficit in history. The American dollar is now threatened by the European dollar. America's fortitude has become such a joke that even Iran is now threatening Israel. What next.
The Republicans have failed to effectively address the health care issues, not to mention their inability to get it right with immigration policies, and t
