My husband and I were hit by a drunk driver 10 months ago. He came into our lane, hit us head on, driving 45 mph. He was being chased by police. My husband and the drunk driver were killed and I was seriously injured. He had been arrested for DWI before. Those arrested for DWI should be locked up with the key thrown away.

Miked98, don't worry about a presidential pardon. Presidents only have the power to pardon those convicted of federal crimes (like when you steal documents related to national security from the national archives). DWI is a state crime. Moreover, I am hoping that Mrs. Clinton will not have the opportunity to issue presidential pardons because I believe she would be a disaster for America. I agree with your sentiment, but there is no chance of a pardon for Mr. Blumenthal from any U.S. President.

Just read SidB's Nov article in Salon about Bush. He has such a deranged, illogical hatred for Bush, it's clear he can't think straight. Driving 70 in a 30 zone, while drunk, should be at least 30 days in jail and loss of license for a year. He's lucky he'll get off with a slap on the wrist. You'll note that he refused a breath test. Which means the police officer has no official record of the level of alcohol in his system.

Unless the FST was captured on his cruiser's DashCam and is visibly conclusive, then it will come down to the word of the officer.

You'll start to see a slew of stories in the media about the state police in general, and this officer in particular.

Every DUI arrest the officer ever made will be scrutinized and investigated for even technical irregularities.

"Officer, have you ever made racial and ethic slurs against Jews?"

Experts will be brought in at great expense to explain how FSTs are "unreliable."

There's going to be a full court press for Sid Weasel, with the aim of destroying the policeman and his reputation.

Fact is, none of this is PROOF they weren't "Christians"...only that they thought for themselves. You can make up your own mind what you believe about their beliefs. Incidentally, Jack, re: 'liberal college educations'...I used to be a registered REPUBLICAN, am now registered independent after seeing what our administration and Congress have done with our national debt. I've never voted Democrat in a presidential election.

Regardless of what tipped the vote in her favor – and I think there were a number of factors – I can’t help but think the voters in New Hampshire made a big mistake when they gave Hillary that victory. Had she lost there, I think it would’ve been nearly impossible for her to stop Obama’s momentum. As it is, a huge battle lies ahead.

It is crucial that voters in Nevada, S. Carolina, and the Super Tuesday states do not repeat New Hampshire’s mistake. Obama is far more electable than Clinton, and a far more inspiring choice to move the country past the divisiveness of the Bush-Clinton years.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I think that the frothing-at-the-mouth hatred that Hillary inspires in so many Republicans borders on the insane (and it’s certainly idiotic), but Democrats ignore that antipathy at their own peril. If Democrats want to do the most powerful thing they can to turn out the *right-wing* base in November, the choice is simple: nominate Hillary Clinton.

Obama, on the other hand, is the one candidate that Americans across the political spectrum can get behind. How do we know? Because they did it in Iowa. He trounced Hillary among independents, brought out unprecedented numbers of young people, and even defeated her by a percentage point among women there. Even in New Hampshire, he beat her handily amongst independents and young voters. He is a *true* uniter, something that Bush and Mrs. Clinton, unfortunately, can never be.

Imagine a contest between Obama and McCain. Barack would destroy the old guy in a general election. Clinton? I’m not so sure. Certainly, after seven years of the Bush fiasco, any Dem nominee *should* be able to beat any Republican, but given the way Hillary infuriates and riles up Republicans, it would be a huge risk to give her that responsibility. And really, do voters – even those who appreciate Bill Clinton’s presidency – really want to hear all those same old attacks and innuendoes and slanders repeated for another four or eight years? It’s time to turn the page, finally, and only Obama can do that.

Lastly, we should adress this silly “experience” issue: JFK only served a single full term in the Senate before becoming one of our most beloved presidents, and Lincoln, probably the greatest president ever, had served only *one* term in the House before his election. And of course, Bush was a two-term governor when he was elected, and we know how that worked out…There are other, *better*, metrics than mere time-in-office, and Obama’s obvious intelligence and good judgement – remember, he was right about Iraq from the beginning – are ample evidence of the strong leadership he would bring to the White House.

Democrats have a choice, a choice between unity and division, between the future and the past. Do we want to risk another Republican president, or four more years of Bush-Clinton bickering? Or do we want to turn the page to a new chapter in American life? Get out and *vote* in your primaries, and vote for Barack Obama.

I am glad that so many people see the hypocrisy in this. Why did the media not cover this in prompt time, as we know they are so capable of doing? Simple: the media serves as its own auto-sensoring group. The media doesn't want Americans to know the truth. The media thinks it's an authority that can do no wrong. And of course, the media tends to be pro democratic.

However, people forget that although Americans have Civil Rights, we also have privileges. These are not the same. We have the right to free speech. We do not have the right to misconstrue facts for the advancement of a small minority and at the expense of the majority, even if the majority are unaware. This is what much of the media does. It is a privilege to be a journalist, not a right. Like any privilege, it can be taken away. Don't believe me? Go do a review of Supreme Court cases.

Likewise for Sid and his partners. It is a privilege for him to be a member of Clinton's campaign. Now the question is this: If Sid screws up, who takes away his privilege? The answer is the Clinton campaign. It's called professionalism. Part of that meaning is holding your members accountable. I'm not just talking about the DWI, but the long list of "unbecoming" actions that so many of you have described. Has he ever been repremanded by his peers? No, he's just the same. Sid and the Clintons lack the basic professional qualities and integrity of decent human beings. They have shown me nothing through their actions to think otherwise.

So good job, Sid. I suppose now you'll use intimidation and threats to shut these police officers up. Maybe a few blown below the belt when no one is looking? Maybe sick your cronies on them? I'm sure you'll figure it out. After all, who knows how to manipulate innocent people better than you?

Drinking and driving is dangerous, not just to the person driving; but, also to everyone in their path. If this is his first offense (I doubt it), then his license should be suspended for a while, and maybe a few days in jail. If he has done this before, he should be jailed for a lot longer.

The Clintons and their gang have been surrounded by the worst kinds of crime and corruption, this pales in comparison.

Partial summary to date: FBI Files Gate, China Gate - China's ICBMs can MIRV after they give em the Gyros, and China can now shoot down satellites (thanks to Bill Clinton's help) -, Unlimited soft intelligence feed from paid for spy White House, Whitewater Gate and the cover up, Travel Gate, Pardon Gate, Stolen Documents, and the Chinese shake down donor working for Hillary, oh ya - and the multiple charges of Rape and Sexual Harassment (against Bill) that Hillary forgave, ignored, and/or helped to cover up .

The above doesn't even include the neglectful failures that nearly caused China to invade Taiwan, India and Pakistan to go the the brink of nuclear war, or 9-11.

Instead of fully briefing Bush all these things, and owning up to the mistakes - they take all the Bs off the keyboards, and steal paintings.

Now we are looking at the possibility of more of the above. How nuts is that?

Oboma may have a lot of wrong headed ideas; but, at least he's not a Clinton.

We still need another 20 years of honest leadership to make up for the 8 years of damage done by the Clintons and their gang.

Any one of the republicans running can do that, and Oboma can do that.

I hope one of the leading GOP candidates wins the general election so the economy and the war on terror can continue to do well.

Hillary does have MANY more years in public service than Obama and Edwards you are right. But the negative Press started in 1992 and the public didn't know her. We don't know much about Obama either...the Press won't tell us the whole truth. I liked the guy, but after gathering what little I could because he keeps everything quiet, I have found things that raise concerns and would like it if he could answer those questions. I love his speeches, but they tell me nothing about what he did in the Illinois State Senate...he destroyed his records by his own admission. I want to know why he votes "Present" so much. I want to know about his influence by his father, step-father and brothers on where they stand on being Muslims. I want to know why his mentor is a controversial minister who calls the U.S. "The United States of White America" amongst other things. I am curious as to who the man is. These questions would be in the Main Stream Media I believe if they weren't so afraid of offending the African American community.

people drink, people act stupid. Some folks drink and are very careful. Mr. Blumenthal was driving in a way that was irresponsible and dangerous, whether sober or drunk. However, driving fast and driving drunk gets innocent people killed everyday. It advances recklessness to another level of danger, and the cost in human life is staggering. Too often, only the sober folks suffer the consequences. I hope Mr. Blumenthal is afforded the same benefit of the law and faces the same consequences that any "ordinary" citizen would. It's called aggravated drunk driving. It has nothing to do with politics, nor should the consequences.

To Ray Sunshine...alot of the venom comes from people who have lost loved ones because of this kind of behavior. If Hillary Clinton were the true champion of the people that she claims to be, she would have called for his resignation, just as she would be now calling for the resignation of someone on the Republican side if they had done the same thing. It's just another on a long list of examples of hypocrisy that takes place with these people. Of course he shouldn't go to jail and be housed with Charles Manson. He should go to the county jail and be forced to walk the highways picking up trash, just like anyone else. But some democratic party system will see to it that that doesn't occur.

The news article doesn't say whether or not Blumentahl took a breathalyzer or blood test later. Did he? If so, what were the results?

Failing a field sobriety test and being arrested for DWI (aka DUI) does not make you guilty -- or mean that you are drunk. It means you failed the test. Field sobriety tests are subjective -- they depend on the attitude, judgment, mood, and training of the police officer administering the test.

Plenty of cops like to pump up their arrest records. And the Mothers Against Drunk Driving love cops who make a lot of drunk driving arrests. It's the quantity of arrests that count for the mothers, not the quality of the arrests.

After being stopped for no reason other than having gray hair and driving after midnight, I failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for drunk driving. I most assuredly was not drunk, but I was unable to stand on one foot in moccasins, having recently injured my foot in a home accident.

After being taken to the police station in handcuffs and made to sit handcuffed in a holding area for about a half hour, I blew 0.00 on the breathalyzer. That's when the arresting officer said he felt like he had egg on his face. I told him he did.

I was so upset at my false arrest -- the only arrest in my life -- I spent about two hours at the police station the next day following up.

The head cop eventually admitted that field sobriety tests are both subjective and unreliable -- and that the only reason the local police do not use field breathalyzers is the cost to install and maintain them.

My arrest was expunged from the records. Had I not been almost certain that the police would commit perjury to cover up, I would have sued the city for false arrest.

Was the Congressman who was arrested for drunk driving in Chicago last year drunk? Probably not. He was profiled for being old and gray and driving after midnight, not for being black.

Was Sidney Blumenthal driving drunk at 70 mph? Probably. But he is legally entitled to a presumption of innocence until he is tried.

Newspapers claim that they are a private company so they can print what they want. Newspapers wonder why readership is down and advertisement has dwindled. People do not want to read, every article from the editors view. We the people want to know the unbiased news. We do not get that any more. In a free economy the editors have this right to control what we read. The opinion of the people un-edited gave the average citizen the ability to correct the wrongs in government. Yesterday alone I bet over one hundred people asked me while attending a funeral why I stopped writing letters to the editor. I write every day. The news believes my letters are libelous, so they are censored. The newspapers know that every fact stated in my letters has been stated in court papers and in writing. The newspapers had unlimited control of what the people were told. The unbiased, ethical reporting dwindled to the editors view. With the internet and blogs people can now learn what the newspapers once stop the public from hearing.

I have stated in writing and court documents that Judge Peter Fauver violated with intent to harm a Madbury family the law to protect the criminal acts of the Madbury selectmen. The Supreme Court is so biased that they refused to hear a case that documented criminal acts by Judge Peter Fauver. Fauver knows that I write these detailed letters because I send him a copy of each. The NH government and Veterans Administration have become so corrupt that they use my medical care for injuries received during combat support missions to cover up Fauver’s crimes. The news has become so biased that they protect these criminal acts by only printing what makes Fauver and the other government criminals look good. The NH state police and the Sheriff’s dept now use police force to intimidate my family at work and home.

I bet if this was happening to the newspaper editor’s family it would be reported in every newspaper. I am a 100% disabled U.S. Marine and I will not go away. I believe that the U.S. military personal that served and the ones that gave their lives over the history of the U.S. have earned the right to hear my words over the wishes of the private biased company’s rights to limit what the public can learn.

If what I write is libelous Fauver has legal recourse against me. I stand for the rights of every individual to speak up and be heard over the biased wishes of the editors.

The ADA is a law to protect handicapped people from wrongs committed to deprive or treat differently services offered to the public. The New Hampshire Government and Veteran’s Administration have used discrimination to stop and limit my medical care. Limit or take my freedom and much more. The discrimination reaches so far that the U.S. legal dept and every safe guard built into our form of government has refused to help. I am a 100% service connected disabled Veteran. I have three life changing disabilities. Two came in separate combat support missions. Recently I have been diagnosed with PTSD. I for over some thirty years have relived traumatic events in my mind every day since I returned. Yet the ADA is ignored and discrimination is used to stop me from speaking freely about Judge Peter Fauver violating the Constitution to intentionally harm legal born U.S. residents to cover up the crimes committed by the Madbury NH selectmen. The Inspector General of the NH Veteran’s Administration talks suicide to me and advocates my entering a VA hospital to be drugged into submission to stop my free speech.

The news media is well aware of the violations of the law but censor the facts from the public for what ever reason. My VA medical was restored but it is now limited and substandard.

Discrimination by the news media across the USA to returning Veterans is what allows our hero’s to die. Suicide is better than retuning to be considered less than trash by the very U.S. citizens we give our child hood and life for.

All my injuries and problems come from serving you the people of the United States of America. What is real and what is not? I just no longer understand! I have tried so hard since I came back to reality. The real “world”. Since I returned to the U.S. in 74 to get a grasp on reality that, it just does not make since. I told a VA psychologist that I no longer could talk with him. Reality no longer exist in the real “world”. I obey the law but the law is interrupted to make the people with power be right. The average, low income citizen does not stand a chance. I stand for the people that obey the law but the law interrupts the facts to crush the people that obey it. Whom are we. WE the military of the U.S. give our lives to protect and defend our constitution but it does not exist. No one recognizes the people. The elected officials are now in power for self gain and want to dominate the people. I volunteer to help others. You have no Idea what I did when I was in the U.S. Marine Corps. You could not conceive what reality is for a U.S. Marine. You live on what the military protects and defends and you take it as a token jester. You the people live on the freedom and take it as a token that our children give their lives to protect. Did I reality come back to the “World” or should I die to make you get what you deserve. I live in two worlds even today, the one defending you years ago and what you call reality today. You knowingly allow the law to be openly violated to harm others and refuse to print the opinion of the people. What is reality? Does Freedom really exist? The ADA is the Law, Discrimination is against the LAW, yet you allow the NH government and VA to use my service related disabilities to inflict harm and suffering on me for their self gain. A Marine in Battle never quits. The Veterans Administration in NH has stopped my VA medical for injuries received in the line of duty. Two are combat related. I did eight convoys as American Advisor through Thailand, Laos and Cambodia during the Vietnam Conflict. My letters go out to thousands of people and government agencies every day. Eventually I had to cross a desk of a Veteran willing to stand up to help every past and future veteran. My medical was stopped because U.S. congress woman Shea-Porter from NH did not like a letter to the editor that I wrote. Judge Peter Fauver did not like that I was exposing his criminal acts as a judge. The NH government told me to stop writing my letters exposing the wrongs in government. The VA under the instructions of Shea-Porter attempted through VA Dr Biswas to put me in the nut house to stop my letters. The VA inspector General from 275 chestnut St Manchester NH stopped my VA medical for injuries that I received defending this nation for 6 months. My medical has been restored but it is now substandard and limited. I give my life for our nation, I will not give any less now. Discrimination against any Veteran is against the law.

Nobody from the NH governor to the people on the street believe this can happen in the U.S. Newspapers believe that what high ranking government officials say discrediting me is what they should print for their readers. The ethical belief that the opinion of the people is one of the most important aspects of the newspapers no longer exist. I have violated no laws. Judges and government officials have violated the law. The American with disabilities act is here to protect us, the people against wrongs. Discrimination in administering the law and medical care to control what people publicly and of their own free will talk about by government officials can not be tolerated.

I volunteer my time every day to helping others. I have volunteered this way since I came back to the “World” U.S. in 74. I ask nothing in return, not even your pity. The State of New Hampshire to cover up Judge Peter Fauver’s criminal activity has allowed a Madbury NH family to be harmed. The Madbury NH selectmen used their trusted government positions to seek revenge on this family by spot zoning their property. Judge Fauver knowing of these criminal acts made rulings in direct violation of our constitution to harm this family intentionally and protect the selectmen’s criminal acts. This Madbury family had a car repair business on RT 4 surrounded by other commercial businesses, with 50 other commercial businesses in the neighborhood. The selectmen told the judge Madbury was buying the land that abutted of this family’s land to make a recreation area, and that Pike industries had less that 5 years before their abutting land to this family’s became a recreational pond for Madbury residents enjoyment. The abutting pond does not exist or will it most likely ever exist. Pike industries with the full help of the Madbury selectmen are pushing for the Pike land to become a concrete plant along side a gravel pit and asphalt plant. Judge Fauver knowingly allowed this families small business to be closed down knowing that it was spot zoned single family. Discrimination is against the law. The NH Supreme Court refused to hear the case because it was presented by a high school drop out that Fauver appointed as an attorney to represent this family. Fauver I assume thought by appointing a High School drop out he would be able to violate the law and get away with it. I may be a 100% disable U.S. Marine but I gave an oath to protect and defend our Constitution at all costs.

Dover Resident are now out raged because this new Pike business will effect their property. No body wanted to help this one family but now you all cry because it is going to effect you. If we allow a criminal judge and selectmen to violate the law to seek revenge on any one individual some day it will be you.

The NH courts and government along with the VA have stopped my VA medical and much more to shut me up. As long as the news continues to censor the truth from the public communist activity will continue to grow. Judge Peter Fauver and the Madbury selectmen can not be allowed to destroy citizens that have done nothing wrong. Spot zoning and using government power to seek revenge is against the law. Our children join our military to protect and defend Our Nation. Some of these children live a horror that will echo in their minds until they die. Many will return with mental and physical disabilities noticeable to the common person. Other Veterans will have the echoes of combat cooking in their heads camouflaged by the joy of being back in the “World” U.S. A happy child with potential to live a successful happy life, joined the military and returns a different person. Relationships fail, jobs become unsteady as the echoes begin to return. Many veterans become homeless on the street or behind the back conversations of friends (that never served) about the potential that was wasted. The echoes of war that someone whom never lived could possibility conceive grow with time.

I talk about this because of a news story in a mid west town that has sent 15 children off to Afghanistan and Iraq. This one mother describes how she never under stood the feelings until it was her three boys over their. 89% of the U.S. population never joins our military. The children that do join, come home to be ignored or treated as trash because of the physical and mental disabilities society refuses to recognize. Elected officials use the Veteran’s story during election time only to change priorities once elected. Families cheer the Veteran during the Veteran’s day parade only to turn their head and walk past a homeless Veteran dieing on the street. When the news hits your home and it is your child returning the Veteran is not trash. Over time you become discouraged by the uncaring response from the Veterans administration and elected officials. Society now treats your loved one as trash and you try to shout. Many Veterans die with no loved ones to shout for them. These are the children that went off to war for your safety.

I speak because I am a 100% disabled Veteran. Two of my three disabilities are combat related. The news today is mostly about the 5 year war in Iraq. The NH congress woman whom harmed this veteran is over their for political gain. The opinion of a Veteran is no longer eligible for print. Why are we fighting on foreign soil? It does not make sense. This is your country too. We can make it better for all or allow the few greedy, power hungry to administer what rights they believe some one deserves at their leisure. Think! this disabled veteran puts this in writing and sends it to judges, elected officials, news and many more only to be censored. I will not be violent no matter how much these trusted government officials and judges harm me or my character. I give my life for my country as your children did over the past 5 years in Iraq. Dead or alive we the Veteran’s give something that is no longer realized by the people of the U.S.
