"I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God," Huckabee said Monday night in Warren, Mich. "And that's what we need to do, is to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards, rather than try to change God's standards.

If I don't believe the bible like he does, he is going to change the constitution and force his believe on everyone? The more you listen to him, the more he sounds like a Religious Extremist.

We rarely stop to count the bodies or the economic cost of devaluing human life and allowing the family unit to disintegrate but the costs of these problems utterly dwarf the costs of the other threats to our country. The "not so intangible" value of having a man like Huckabee as our next President can hardly be overestimated. Huckabee is the one man in this race who would clearly bring about a new moral "tone" in this country AND move us toward POLICIES that would address the terrible social/moral problems that we have in this country. He has "walked the walk" and he "talks the talk" like a man who only comes along perhaps once in a generation. Let's get behind this very special man at this critical hour in this election!

I think I'm through listening to my hero Rush. He's so determined to hate Huckabee that he refuses to listen to anything that might prove he's wrong about Huckabee's policies. He refuses to listen to anyone who tells him that Huckabee has been consistently strong on national security, defense, pro-Iraq, closed borders, no amnesty, lower taxes, less government, pro-business, against corporate welfare but for small business, less regulation, litigation and taxation. Pro-family, pro-life, pro second amendment. How much more do you need to convince someone that you're conservative. Limbaugh wants Thompson? What in heavens name has Thompson ever DONE to earn the label? Nothing. Six years in the Senate and what did he do to earn the label "strongest conservative"? Wake up, Limbaugh. I don't know why you're blinded by hatred for this man, and you are certainly allowed your opinion, but when that hatred causes you to twist and distort facts, you hurt your own credibility. I can't even believe you anymore when you talk about the Clintons. I used to think everything you said was true, researched and supported by the facts. Sometimes it's hard to find your hero has clay feet.

Come on, it has been on the republican table to get an ammendment passed to protect the unborn children and not allowing Gay marriages. What about Lincoln?? He said “Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right” He doesn't want to impose his interpatation of the Bible. That is just overboard media push. Huckabee knows how to govern people and has some great ideas and can see them through for this counrty. Fairtax, prolife, freedom from over baring government, immigration changed, and much more. That is what I want. That is why we are voting for Huckabee.

And as a first time voter, I'm supporting Mike Huckabee. Abortion is wrong folks! Marriage should be and will stay between a man and a woman. How are you going to vote for someone WEAK on illegal immigration like McCain? Also, Romney is a flip-flopper. He thinks that he can throw a ton of money at a primary an it will make him win. News for Mitt Romney:

What Does $585,000 Buy You?

Answer: It bought Mitt Romney backers a smear job against Mike Huckabee orchestrated by Beltway Insiders. It's true folks! Go to MikeHuckabee.com to get the facts!

I am from Arkansas where I have benefited from Mike Huckabees reign as Governor first I have more money in my pocket at the end of the year from his tax cuts, I drive on better roads my kids are getting a better education.

Your comments are typical of Mike Huckabees opposer's, take just a sentence or two out of context or twist it just a little to make it sound like something it wasn't.

In Mike Huckabees 13-1/2 years of service as Lt Gov. and Governor he NEVER ONCE tried to force his religious beliefs on the people of this State

So what is so scary about a Leader that pushed through the Arkansas Legislature the first major, broad-based tax cuts in state history--a $90 million tax relief package for Arkansas families; he led efforts to establish a Property Taxpayers' Bill of Rights; and created a welfare reform program that reduced the welfare rolls in the state by almost 50%. He also doubled the standard deduction to $2,000 for single taxpayers and $4,000 for those who are married. In total, he led the fight to cut taxes and fees over 90 times during his 10 1/2 years as governor, saving the people of Arkansas almost $380 million and when he left office, Arkansas had almost a billion dollars in state surplus.

Well Sir, I would like to tell you something of great importance. We actually have 27 amendments to our Constitution which actually changed the Constitution for the better. I'm sure you probably never heard of that.

One famous one, the 13th amendment was a change to the Constitution by a man named Abraham Lincoln. He was the 16th President of our great nation. He seamed to think that keeping black folks as slaves and treating them like animals was wrong. Well guess what, everyone thought he was out of his mind for wanting to free such creatures into our society, thus propelling us into the bloodiest battle on U.S. soil to date. The Civil War. (Thirteenth Amendment (1865): Abolishes slavery and grants Congress power to enforce abolition.)

You may be scared of Mike Huckabee, but you ought to contemplate why that is. He thinks that the genocide of billions of little human babies is wrong. Who knows? But I can assure you sir, i don't think he is wrong and neither to most of us here in South Carolina or the rest of this great nation.

Also, of the 55 men who formed our Constitution, 52 were active members of their Church. We take a little more seriously down here.

I ask you please Sir, to hold your tongue if you do not have something more intelligent to say about my future 44th President of the United States of America!

I am asking that you give Mike the money it would cost for one tank of gas. We all would do that I think. This is the time to help him! This was my third donation and I know it's hard to squeeze blood from a turnip, but if we want Mike to get enough votes, he needs money.

Donate at the link below or just go to his website directly at www.mikehuckabee.com

Put my donor code of 2591 if you want.

Here is the link, lets rally behind Mike! Give him that money from one tank of gas, no matter what size your car is! God Bless!

You vote for a person because you believe in what they stand for, and you might beliEve in what theY stand for because of what you've read or heard about the economy, health coverage, imagration, etc. You might also vote for them because of your convictions - about diversity, justice, torture, religion... In light of this, I read Huckabee's remark as one mainly directed at Christian conservatives, something along the lines of "allow your convictions to influence your vote and this direction of this country; don't deny your beliefs." Huck's words, though, and where he said them make the reamark rather distateful.

One other thought - this article is a bit slanted - 'Shockingly', Huckabee obliged? 'Hallelujah'? Obviously, these charged words and their context are meant as sarcasm... I personally couldn't image this sarcasm being extended to a Muslim politician who goes to mosque, is asked an earnest question about his/her faith, and gives an earnest response.

I can definitely say As a governor of arkansas Mike Huckabee did a wonderful job. I lived in AR for 3 years during his reign. He has definitely improved the Education, Roads and Employment. When the entire country is reeling under high unemployment, Huckabee has created more jobs and maintained a healthy economy.

He never forced his faith on anyone. HE IS A BETTER MAN THAN ANY OF THE GOP CANDIDATES.

(January 16, 2008 at 7:34 PM)

I am turning off Rush and even Fox news ( especiall the Fred guy) to a large extent. I used to be naive and believe everything that came out of the right wing media. Not anymore. I am now equally watching CNN and MSNBC and they are not that bad. Atleast they bash every conservative candidate equally. I certainly did nto expect people to attack Huckabee for his religious faith when Romney ( mormanism) and Obama ( His muslim faith combined with Christian/Louis Farakham support) get a much fair treatment. Everybody overlooks the fact that Huckabee was voted as one of the top governors of his time. The big issues of other candidates are over looked..example

Romeny: Bigger flip flopper than John Kerry. Flip flopped more than once on ALL issues. When running for governor of MA was pro gay and pro abortion. NOw he is not. Since Jan 08 he is running for "change" when he was not previously

Fred Thompson: It is so obvious that the only reason he is in the race is to help Mccain ( he and his wifre went on his honey moon trip with him). His attack on Mccain are very mild and so obvious but is charging at huckabee. He did nto champion anything when he was a senator. If he was so against illegal immigration what did he do for the past 6 years ?

Giuliani and Mccain: I have some respect for these guys since they are not a Fred or Sly Mitt. But they have very liberal positions except on terrorism. They would make great democratic candidates

I support huckabee. For people who say that he has not been aggressive on terrorism.. well he has not had the opportunity yet. He was not the mayor of NY on 911 nor was he in the senate to bring new laws. But from what I see of how he govered Arkansas, he has my vote.

Look beyond the fact that Huckabee is the same religion as you and look at his record. Mike Huckabee was regarded by fellow Republican governors as a compulsive tax increaser and spender. He increased the Arkansas tax burden by 47 percent, boosting the levies on gasoline and cigarettes. The Arkansas Leader.com editorialized that Mike Huckabee raised more taxes in 10 years in office than Bill Clinton did in his 12 years.

The Arkansas Ethics Commission held proceedings 20 times on the former governor. During his tenure, Huckabee accepted 314 gifts valued overall at more than $150,000, according to documents filed with the Arkansas secretary of state’s office. (He accepted 187 gifts in his first three years as governor but was not required to report their value.)

Mike was the keynote speaker at a 1998 anti-Mormon conference in Salt Lake City. And he says he knows nothing about Mormons? How about some simple honesty? And the “Christian Leader” doesn’t want to release his sermons, why?

I have nothing against Baptists I just think that this guy is a bad representative and you would be smart to look beyond his religion.

MarinePatriot - The majority of our country is not pro-life - we are actually split 50-50 on that issue. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pro-choice.

I question Huckabee's judgement. He pressured a parole board to release a convicted rapist (Dumond) early. After being released, he raped and killed a woman.

And for those who say he's tough on immigration, he wants the children of illegal immigrants to be eligible to get school grants.

No candidate is perfect, but Huckabee scares me too.

There is so much on the line in our country. I am from a small community in the middle of the state of MO, but I want to contribute however I can. If that means that I write a message and request that it be printed for others to view, or contact friends via email and request them to pass along my opinions (if they agree and so choose), I am going to do my part this election. Will you?

I don’t mean to encroach on anyone’s favored party “feelings”, or necessarily try to sway anyone. However, if you are undecided on a candidate and share my conservative views, I have added an excerpt from an article on the internet about Mr. Mike Huckabee below. There will be those who read this that will no doubt be very excited to hear that someone is taking such a stance. Still others, who claim to be republicans, but don’t go so far as to claim to be conservative, may feel that Mike Huckabee is “too far right” to truly lead our country. My “personal” feeling about that is this: I am 100% in favor of someone who has the guts to make statements such as those you will see in the excerpt.

If I have offended anyone (I’m not sorry). I believe that our country is too concerned about hurting a few people’s feelings. I think that it is time that people who say they stand firm in the Christian faith “PROVE IT!” I don’t want to throw my vote to someone who will half- heartedly promote Christian values… Not when there seems to be someone who will whole- heartedly do so. If Huckabee weren’t running, would I still vote GOP (yes), there’s no question. I put more value in a human life than I ever will on any tree on this earth (I am sure that statement would send Mr. Gore out crying, but again, I don’t care…He’s let us see him cry before). I put more value in a marriage (a marriage that shouldn’t even have to be called “traditional”), or civil union, or whatever grotesque grouping of words that liberals would like to throw our way, than I do in allowing our nations streets to be filled with disgusting portrayals of sick individuals being able to express their “individuality” in front of us and our children. I am not a very old person, only nearing 30. However, I know that I was at least nearing teenage years before I understood what homosexuality was and I didn’t hear the word abortion early in my life either. I now have a first and a fourth grader, both of which know what homosexuality and abortion are and a three year old who, unfortunately will know all too soon. Our “educational system” has proven to sway with the liberal media; and what the liberal media portrays is what the uninformed public receives. Values Voters have let their guards down for far too long. We all know that prayer was taken out of our schools. The teachers themselves are not responsible for this, the unheard voice of Values Voters are responsible for this. Punishment in school is no longer a simple act to keep children in line and we are seeing the ill effects of this increasing by the year. Our country is stuck in an illusion that “we can make everyone happy”. I am sorry to inform you, but we can’t make everyone happy. I have never had the “right” as a parent to allow my children to watch any television unsupervised. Why? Because even the cartoons are filthy, much less prime time shows. Have violence, illicit sex, drugs and profanity of all sorts been a part of this country for many years? Yes, they all have. However, these have all increased dramatically due to the multi media forms in which it is broadly and indiscreetly broadcasted by. I am personally highly disappointed in the “Values Voters” who continue to complain about the immoral shape that our country is in, yet refuse to cast their vote because they feel that they are not heard. I guarantee you that if you don’t vote, you are not heard. By the same token, if you do vote, at a bare minimum you’ve tried. Whether your party (be it Democrat, Republican, or Independent) wins, you did your part as a member of this society and you did try.

Make YOUR VOICE Heard…… LOUD & CLEAR

EXCERPT from internet article BELOW:

As he did in Michigan, Huckabee was expected to rally pastors to help turn out their flocks. He draws heavy support from parents who home school their children, a small but actively engaged bloc that populate his cadre of volunteers. Huckabee repeated one of his favorite applause lines Tuesday, telling supporters, “Mothers and fathers raise better kids than governments do.”

Huckabee has drawn distinctions with his rivals over abortion and gay marriage by calling for constitutional amendments to ban both. Thompson and McCain oppose same-sex marriage but stop short of calling for a constitutional amendment. On abortion, Huckabee is alone in calling for a constitutional amendment.

“I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God,” Huckabee said Monday night in Warren, Mich. “And that’s what we need to do, is to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards, rather than try to change God’s standards.”

So many people have no idea at all what this actually means: it is the separation of the ORGANISATIONS. It was never ever meant to be the reason for disqualifying anyone from public services because of his/her beliefs. EXATELY the OTHER WAY!!!! Majority of those who are responsible for giving the constitution of personal rights and freedom to the USA and the whole world, were not just believers, but also active members of their - Christian - churches. They could have made it a “Christian Faith Constitution” but instead they declared the “Constitution of Values”. No Christian faith issue was forced into, it was all about understanding humanity and it’s basic values.

Declaring that killing an unborn baby is no different from any other kind of murder is nothing new to the spirit, values or the text of the constitution. The only reason it has became an issue at all is because so many people make it sound that killing the most helpless human beings, who simply have no way to protect themselves from the brutality, is not already included. It is. It has always been. The constitution has to protect everyone from getting killed. If it is not clear enough, that here is no other exception than being a murderer, then it has to be made crystal clear.

Do not be so picky! :) Do not you ever make mistakes when you are typing fast? Do not get me wrong, I am not pretending that my grammar is good, since I am not native English, it hopefully can be forgivable. Does it make a point any less valid, if a lesser educated person cannot put it into words the way you expect, as long it is still understandable? I have the education, just not in English, so I will probably never “own” the language the way you do. Which makes me a bit jealous of you, but we cannot be good at everything, can we? :)

I never said that a person should be disqualified from public of office because of their religious beliefs. Please do not read in to my words. I could care less what a person's religion is, but our Government should not make decisions based on their religious beliefs. That was in response to the discussions above about Huckabee's statement about changing the Constitution to coincide with God's laws. That is breaking the separation of church and state.

Your opinion on abortion is just that - an opinion. Many people don't believe that a cluster of cells, with no distinguishing features or blood supply is "life", and many people do. You're more than welcome to your opinion. But it's not right for those who say it's murder to force their beliefs on those who don't. The pro-choice people certainly aren't forcing people to get abortions - the pro-life shouldn't try to force them not to. No one's beliefs (religious or otherwise) should not encroach on other people's freedoms.

By the way, considering English is your second language, I'm extremely impressed! It's the most difficult language to learn - exceptions to the exceptions. I took a stab at learning a few languages and have a lot of respect for anyone who can.

Of course I will. I respect others opinions and think debating is good and necessary. But it has to be kept civil, fact-based, and not used to insult or intentionally hurt each other.
