I'm sorry, but this isn't funny! I'm not impressed that Hillary Clinton (now that she's been called out) finally took the time to explain that she and others often wear local garb when they travel. We already know that, Hillary! We're not stupid, and that's not the point!!!

The point is, why was the photo circulated in the first place??? The CLINTON SMEAR MACHINE knew exactly what they were doing! That photo of Obama "dressed" and looking very Muslim-esque was sent to plants seeds of doubt about Barack Obama's faith ONE WEEK PRIOR to the biggest contest between these two candidates to date!

EVERY DEMOCRAT SHOULD DEMAND THAT HILLARY CLINTON APOLOGIZE AND THEN DROP OUT OF THE PRIMARY RACE!!!

No democrat wants a bigot for a nominee! This is an all-time low, even for Hillary Clinton. She is using race, religion, and smear emails to SWIFTBOAT A FELLOW DEMOCRAT!

Apparently, the only demographic she has left is white women over 80 and the KKK. Wow, Hillary, you must be so proud!

Are you kidding me? Now I don't just want her back in NY... I want her out of the US Senate. This woman is devious, hateful, and amoral. There is no question how she became the most "polarizing" and "divisive" figure in politics.

HISTORY LESSON ON HILLARY

The entire list below represents historical facts that are not in dispute anywhere.

So let's think about the logic of those who would consider, even for a moment, bringing anyone associated with the Clintons back into the White House-----especially Hillary.

The Clintons have been telling America that Hillary is the most qualified candidate for president based on her record,' which they say includes her eight years in the White House as First Lady - or "co-president" - and her seven years in the Senate.

In fact, in his stump speeches, Bill Clinton goes so far as to marvel at his wife's "genius" and repeatedly claims that he never made a major policy, legislative or political decision without consulting her during that 1st Clinton Administration.

So here is a PARTIAL list of her accomplishments, activities, and behavior during the past 15 years since they first ran for President in 1992:

1) As First Lady, Hillary assumed authority over Health Care Reform, process that cost the taxpayers over $13 million. She told both Bill Bradley and Pat Moynahan, key votes needed to pass her legislation, that she would 'demonize' anyone who opposed it. But it was opposed; she couldn't even get it to a vote in a Congress controlled by her own party. (And in the next election, her party lost control of both the House and Senate.)

2) Hillary also assumed authority over selecting a female Attorney General. Her first two recommendations (Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood) were forced to withdraw their names from consideration, and then she chose Janet Reno.

The same Janet Reno has since been described by Bill himself as 'my worst mistake.'

3) Hillary was also the person who recommended Lani Guanier for head of the Civil Rights Commission. When Guanier's radical views became known, her name had to be withdrawn....need more?

4) Hillary recommended three of her former law partners for Administration jobs: Web Hubbell, Vince Foster, and William Kennedy for positions in the Justice Department, White House staff, and the Treasury Dept., respectively.

Hubbell was later imprisoned, Foster allegedly committed suicide, and Kennedy was forced to

resign.

5) Hillary also recommended a close friend of the Clintons, Craig Livingstone, for the position of director of White House security. When Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of up to 900 FBI files of Clinton enemies (Filegate) and the widespread use of drugs by White House staff, both Hillary and her husband denied knowing him. (FBI

agent Dennis Sculimbrene later confirmed in a 1996 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing both the drug use and Hillary' s involvement in hiring Livingstone.

As a result, the FBI closed its White House Liaison Office, which had previously served seven presidents for over thirty years without any such incident.)

6) In order to open 'slots' in the White House for her friends the Harry Thomasons (to whom millions of dollars in travel contracts could be awarded), Hillary had the entire staff of the White House Travel Office fired; they were reported to the FBI for gross mismanagement' and their reputations ruined. After a thirty-month investigation, only one, Billy Dale, was charged with a crime - mixing personal money with White House funds when he cashed checks. The jury acquitted him in less than two hours.

7) Another of Hillary's assumed duties was directing the "bimbo eruption squad" and scandal defense. How competently did she perform? Just follow these dots:

She is the one who urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit. She also stubbornly refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor. After $80 million dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr's investigation led to Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill's lying about and later admitting the affair.

Then they had to settle with Paula Jones after all.

And Bill lost his law license for lying to the grand jury.

And Bill was impeached by the House.

And Hillary almost got herself indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice. She avoided it mostly because she repeated, 'I do not recall,' 'I have no recollection,' and 'I don't know' 56 times

under oath.

8) Hillary accepted the traditional First Lady's role of decorator of the White House at Christmas, but in a unique Hillary way. In 1994,

for example, the First Lady's Tree in the Blue Room (the focal point each year) was decorated with drug paraphernalia, sex toys, and pornographic ornaments, all personally approved by Hillary as the invited artists' depictions of the theme, 'The Twelve Days of Christmas.'

9) Hillary wrote 'It Takes a Village,' demonstrating her Socialist viewpoint.

10) Hillary decided to seek election to the Senate in a state where she had never lived. Her husband pardoned FALN terrorists in order to get

Latino support and the New Square Hassidim to get Jewish support. Hillary also had Bill pardon her brother's clients, for a small fee, to get financial support.

11) Then Hillary left the White House, but later had to return $200,000 in White House furniture, china, and artwork she had stolen.

12) In the campaign for the Senate, Hillary played the "gender card" by portraying her opponent (Lazio) as a bully picking on a poor woman.

13) Hillary's husband further protected her by asking the National Archives to withhold from the public until 2012 many records of their time in the White House, including much of Hillary's correspondence and her calendars. (There are ongoing lawsuits to force the release of those records.)

14) As a Senator from New York, Hillary has passed no major legislation. She has deferred to the senior Senator (Schumer) to tend to the needs of New Yorkers, even on the hot issue of medical problems of workers involved in the cleanup of Ground Zero after 9/11.

15) Hillary's one notable vote, supporting the plan to invade Iraq, she has since disavowed.

Again, all above are facts that are not in dispute. Together they paint a picture of a distburbing pattern of manipulation, deceipt, and bad judgement that her conduct of this campaign confirms, yet grossly understates.

Someone told me this resume, while impressive, feels more like it belongs to someone in a crime family.

I think the Clinton campaign's recent return (post Thursday's debate) to the "dark side" will backfire badly. A co-worker of mine has been the most loyal Clinton supporter I have ever seen. But, after she saw Hillary's recent angry outbursts, she cast her early vote this Saturday for Obama.

Hopefully, voters will see this for what it is, and only reinforce the need for more than just a change of parties in the White House. We need is a fundamental change in our politics.

The Clinton campaign has moved from "silly season" to downright annoying. She all to painfully reminds us again why 47% of those recently polled said they would *never* vote for her. The sooner the voters put an end to this, the better. She looked like she was going to be a graceful loser on Thursday night. It's a shame she did not stick to the high road.

Citizens of Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Vermont, let's please put an end to this once and for all on March 4th. Let's help Obama sweep all four states.

The obvious suspect would be the GOP or Nader (or just Drudge finding an old picture and inventing a controversial source). The person most likely to be harmed by this is Hillary, as she will be blamed for it. Very small harm might come to Obama also (from the picture, not counting his reaction). So the most likely suspect is some enemy of both Hillary and Obama, such as Nader or the GOP.

This whole nonsense says a lot more about the American people than even Hillary Clinton if an innocuous photo of a candidate wearing traditional Somali garb could negatively impact on his campaign. What the heck is all that about? Where I come from (New Zealand) that photo wouldn't even register a blip. (Mind you, I do live in a country where we have already had 2 female Prime Ministers and when the current one indicated her agnostic tendencies prior to the election her polling numbers increased) America, you are too polarized.

Excellent piece! This has to mark one of the first times I've seen a politically-motivated article give every perspective before jumping on the finger-pointing bandwagon. Should I be shocked that after a story asking people to be cautious before jumping to assumptions, ALL of the comments jump to assumptions anyway? HAHA Classic! We are such a media-driven zombie society that it's pathetic and no wonder why the Bush Administration is/was able to partake in some ridiculous anti-constitutional activityies. Pretty easy to do when we care more about Britney Spears and whatever trash gossip is floating around. A very good "everybody calm down" piece. Due diligence should be performed to determine the specific origin/distribution/context/intent of the email. The resulting evidence should then hopefully separate the noise from the facts. This could amount to just some cheesy campaign nothing. But at worst (and this is why we should check it out thoroughly) it is an unbecoming subliminal smear/fear tactic, and appropriate consequences should befall any/all who had a hand in this.

I am not for either candidate. I think Hillary is well Hillary and wrong for the job. Back when I was in High School I remember telling my parents I would move to Canada if Nixon won, that he was a crook, that something was just not right. Well the feeling I have now for Obama is that something is VERY wrong, perhaps realting to the biblical numbers 666. From the first time I laid eyes on him till now I have not been able to shake that feeling. I am a registered Democrat, but my vote this year will be Republican.

This is just a sad, pathetic move by a Clinton camp that is losing the support of its core voters and party supporters.

The timing on the circulation of this pic is down right offensive and disturbing, and I don't buy this garbage of photos being released of politicians dressed in foreign attire as "normal", which is a half truth. Sure, it's true that photos of politicians dressed in native dress while visiting foreign countries are released normally, but why release a pic of Obama in African-Muslim attire NOW if not only to take A CHEAP AND LOW advantage of prejudice voters and squeeze a few votes out of racist voters.

It seems to me that the only politician that has been resorting to Karl Rove/neo-conservative/Bush administration tactics lately is Hillary Clinton by resorting to questioning her opponent’s patriotism.

Not only does the Clinton camp suggest that Obama is less of an American because he is in African-Muslim dress, but they also suggest that Africans and Muslims are lesser Americans or not "real Americans'. This stinks of more of the same politics that have been winning neo-cons elections and dividing the country now since Bush took office. Hillary might as well have released a photo of Obama on board a plane that hit the World Trade Center, or release a pic of Obama with monkey like features because the implications to white voters are the same..."Do you really want this as your president?”…”Aren’t you scared of something different?”

It just goes to show me that Hillary offers the same brand of politics that have divided this country for too long now, and that she has no real chance of uniting an America that has been deeply divided by this same brand of politics; and, it’s become clear to me that Hillary mocks change because she doesn’t offer it, and she really doesn’t believe in it herself.

This is disgusting, and I hope it puts the final nail in the coffin of a desperate and dying campaign that is now hoping to find votes within the prejudice population of America....how noble.

Look at the response made by Obama and his team about the photo. They are insulting Somali elders and they don't even realize it. Is Obama who you really want as the president of the United States? What if he insults the wrong people?

I appreciate the tone of this article, it's always good to step back to look at the facts.

But, it misses the campaign history that gives this incident the Clinton MO.

Could it be a right wing smear tactic? It doesn't fit the mold. The RW has already sent out it's viral over the top message, in the RW style. It was debunked by CNN.

So, this recent smear, sent to Drudge, alluding to the press, doesn't really follow the RW MO.

It does follow the Clinton MO.

First, Drudge and the Clinton's have a history. The Clinton's have fed Drudge information before, and then had it picked up by the press. So, the idea that the campaign fed something to Drudge is quite believeable. See here:

Hillary has already raised Obama's Muslim heritage, so we know she's willing to go there.

When her surrogates attack, it usually is indirectly, such as the current comment regarding the press coverage. For example, when Bob Kerry endorsed Clinton, he (incorrectly) described Obama being educated in a madrassa, and referred to Obama's middle name. It is not a criticism, but brings the facts into the media's attention.

Shaheen did the same thing in his inteview with the press. He referred to Obama's youthful drug use as something the Republican's would use.

This most recent incident has the exact same MO, it raises the issue in a sideways way by talking about Press coverage (which has been a Clinton gripe).

Finally, Clinton has first denied it, and then given a very sideways non-denial denial for it.

Was Clinton involved? I would guess not, because she can't have it point to her. But, it has her campaign fingerprints all over it.
