It's called Stumper--as in, "stump: n. the figurative place of political speechmaking" or "stump: v. to make political campaign speeches; electioneer." You wouldn't believe how long it took us to

re: What's Stumper?

Just to inform last comment about Mitt he's out of the running. Too too bad for us. When he was campaigning he was the only one who met what he said. He had a record that proved his worth, unfortunately honest people get eaten alive by the political machine that is Washington. John McCain threw his spin on Romney so many times now it's time to face the music McCain. Too, too bad for us Republicans that we already hate the person who is representing us. Unfortunately that's what are party gets for backing lifer politicians like McCain, he is the broken in Washington.

Her last chances were: 1. Ohio & Texas (net gain of 5 delegates). 2. Michigan & Florida re-dos - Not happening. 3. Reverend Wright's deplorable comments - Obama's historic speech addressed those concerns head on - turning a negative into a positive.

The only thing she will accomplish now is to destroy our chances in November. Just a couple notes - For those who complain about Michigan and Florida, I truly wish the states would have complied with DNC rules, so we could have had real contests in both states. It is insulting our intelligence to suggest that those contests were "won" by Hillary or the popular vote should count. Anyone who really and truly believes that is a complete idiot. (apologies, but please!). Hillary is disgusting to say she "won", and more so to imply that Barack is afraid to have a new contest. The Clintons are trying to force him to agree to revotes that disqualify Democrats & Republicans that voted in the fake primary. Nothing to do with Obama - It's the State Legislature, stupid!

I know Clinton isn't talking to anyone who actually pays attention - she targets her message for people that only have time for sound bites, which explains alot. Obama has proven his superiority over her in 28 out of 42 contests, more Delegates & more popular vote....And challenges us to actually engage in some nuanced thought.

Maybe she can be McCain's runningmate, or at least endorse him, since in her eyes he's more qualified than Obama! Funny stuff indeed. She needs to extend her Easter break and call it a day before she hurts the party any further.

It is refreshing. Voters have seen more of those seeking the presidency in advance of the election than ever before. The candidates have had to appear before the nation a number of times to answer questions and show their various sides. They have then had to prepare the best that they can to say what they might do if elected. The more that this happens, the smarter that the voters will get as we see who can and who can't meet the promised path after getting into office. Please keep this up far into the future with an abundance of press coverage. We may yet have some really good government in just the right doses as time goes by if we can just vote smarter. Maybe we can still keep this democracy.

What we witness the other night from ABC was just the opposite - pedestrian, petty, and harmful. We hope that Charles & George would not emulate the other news pundits and media, but instead, reach a new, low level of reporting and facilitation. ABC could have differentiated itself with a true, higher level debate and set the standard for the future debates -something Barack is attempting to do. A missed opportunity. Charles & George have lost our respect and maybe more important to ABC, our viewer ship. Sham on them both and ABC.

The day of my sons funeral, it had snowed and the weather report was very iffy. However, fortunately for us, it cleared. We had a reception following the funeral. All my sons friends and family were present. I was feeling very sad. Suddenly, a very bright ray of sunshine shone down on me. I had a strong feeling of his presence. I believe it was God telling me that he was safe in heaven.

So, therfore, I believe in your theory about the rainbow at Tim Russerts funeral. He will be sorely missed by many. It was routine in our home to watch him every single Sunday morning. He did not give slanted views of the news. He was the most honest reporter I have ever witnessed. Farewell Tim Russert. God Bless You.

Iranians Hoping for ‘Muslim’ Obama Victory - Iran’s leadership has expressed “great pleasure” at the prospect of a Barack Obama victory in November, according to Menashe Amir, the Iranian-born head of Radio Israel’s Persian language service.

“One of the Iranian religious leaders said if Obama will enter the White House, then Islam will conquer the heart of the American nation,” Amir told Isracast.com.

The Iranian leadership likes Obama “mainly because he is a Muslim,” according to Amir. His first name, Barack, comes from “al-baraq,” which is the name of the horse that Muslims believe Muhammad rode on his way to paradise.

How 'bout them apples??

Today, I was listening to a radio talk show when a woman dialed in with a comment. She was sobbing to the point where she could hardly speak, but felt compelled to recount her plight. The show host was patient and gentle, helping the woman tell her story and I found myself listening with sadness and empathy as this terrible story unfolded.

After attending her Evangelical church, as she did regularly, she told us about one horrifying evening that changed her life forever. After church one evening, she had become a victim of rape. To make a terrorizing experience even worse, she became pregnant from this rape. This woman is a pro-life evangelical and she was faced with the most excruciating choice ever to face a woman. The pain was so great, that she had seriously considered suicide, but she had a choice, without which two lives may have been lost.

Yes, she had a choice, and Sarah Palin had a choice to keep her special needs child. Both of these woman are pro-life, and yet, they both made different choices. Our talk show caller terminated the pregnancy because, as she told us while deep in tears, it was the only choice that enabled her to go on living.

Sarah Palin believes that this woman should have been considered a criminal, and yet, she was the victim. When Gov. Palin has her chance to build a supreme court, and she will, she will pick judges that will reverse Roe V. Wade, even in cases of rape or incest.

The idea of criminalizing our talk show caller makes me feel profoundly angry and fear the future of this country. No one can claim to understand how this woman felt and no one should have the right to dictate what this woman must do.

We are all pro-life, and there is no such thing as a pro-abortion movement. All we are asking for in this great free country is the freedom to make the most difficult and personal choice a woman might ever have to make.

Sarah Palin is too extreme for this country. She might make a great leader of a secular nation, but not of this free nation.

You see a man like this come around once a century the kind of man that when he speaks you believe, you hope and you trust. From the outside looking in some people believe it is more about party politics then it is about making your country better and more respected. Maybe Iran wants to talk to Obama because he is willing to listen and not condem and maybe they want be on the side of Good and not Evil. The strange thing about it is that the Americans have supported both the Nations in the Middle east at one time or another suppling weapons and training to both the Iraqis and Irainians, trained them in their covert operations and terrorisim, so before the americans start pointing at country's that support Terrorisim they best look in their own back yard because if it were not for the American military covert op's in the Middle east the Iraqis may not have gotten to be such a pain. Hopefully you learn from your mistakes and start fighting the war where it needs to be fought in Afganastan were good Canadian kids are losing their lives for the real reason there supposed to be there, and fight the people who supported and trained the terrorists for 911. Stop listening to people who do not want to change.

George Bush who was financialy supported by Bin Ladens realitives in his earlier years never gets brought up why? Maybe thats why you can't catch him ....think about it .

While the parade of percentages scrolls across my television screen it is my mind that toys with the potential outcome. As of now Yes on 8 is leading. And I am reminded of a story relayed to me only a few short weeks ago that I wish had been told in print.

A couple in Sacramento were in the midst of signing their marraige license when they noted an obscure change under their names. Where Bride and Groom had once been displayed it had been changed to the indelicate reference of "Person A and Person B". As though it were describing a strain of virus. Clearly afronted this couple printed next to the forementioned titles and handwrote Bride and Groom. The State of California sent a letter a short time later declaring unapologetically that their license was void due to unapproved changes made to the documentation.

My question at this point was simply- who approved the changes in the first place? Because I know that I sure didn't receive a letter in the mail asking me if I wouldn't mind be recognized as person A or person B! And so after more letters, personal visits to important offices and phone calls the license was changed back to Bride and Groom- for all.

It is my concern that the general public seems to be missing the point on this issue. A little slide of hand here, little nip there and we are no longer recognized in the heterosexual community as having the right to be called husband and wife, bride and groom. A little more unconstitutional toying and we may well fit into the category of the "unknown" or Person A and Person B addage.

My solution to this dilemma would be to rejoice as Yes on 8 passes. It is my hope that should this fight continue I not lose my future right to sign a license that says Bride and Groom. That I not be whittled down to nothing more than a tagline, a reference. That I not be called merely a person; A or B. I hope when my day comes I will be known as Wife, Bride, and Mrs....
