When "The War Room" came out other folks interpreted Kantor to be impugning Indiana residents.

In The Washington Post's review of the film in 1993, critic Desson Howe referred to "a Mickey Kantor comment about the people of Indiana (when it looks as though Clinton's ahead in Dan Quayle's state)."

And a 1995 story in the Sydney Morning Herald said that "As for the good folk of Indiana, they are still recovering from the 1993 documentary War Room, which revealed the grim truth behind the Clinton election campaign. It showed Mr Kantor bursting in on election night to tell other campaign staffers that incredibly, Mr Clinton was doing well even in Republican Indiana. 'And those people are s—!' he declared breathlessly."

I can't speak as to the second supposed comment in the video (as there are building allegations that that portion of the video has been doctored), but as to the first "sh*t" comment--give me a break. If you actually LISTEN to what Kantor said (and ignore the misleading subtitles), there is clearly an "ing" on the end of the word. "These people are sh*ttING." It's blatantly obvious.

It's usually a good thing to make sure you have the story right before you take off running with it.

What I give Obama credit for is: 1. Trying to stay on track with the issues. 2. Running a positive campaign and side stepping some smears that he very well could have used.

You seem to suggest that because, out there on the great wide internet, there are supporters of Obama's campaign who would like to turn the tables on Hillary and "go negative" as it were, the man himself is somehow responsible for this. You close out the argument by saying that we need to go back again and spend even more time talking Rev. Wright.

Impugning Obama for a bunch of internet trolls who are in no way affiliated with his campaign is as silly as suggesting Hillary is affiliated with the apparently bogus remarks of her husband's advisors.

Come on now.

Whatever. Kantor clearly says "Those people are shitty." The _second_ part is about the White House, but the first part is about Indiana. If you watch the whole clip from The War Room, you later see them tracking the states, and Indiana is the only one where they are down on that list. There is a diss there.

Whether it matters? Well, Kantor's association with Clinton is longer and closer with Clinton that Obama's with Wright. He's actually *working on the campaign*. I mean, he's actually a political operative. This comment was made in a political context. Still, the guilt by association stuff only seems to apply to Obama. None of Clinton's stuff really matters. And McCain's seem to matter even less (can anyone say "Keating Five?")

The truth is, NONE of the "guilt by association" politics make any sense. The candidates are the ones running for office, not the people they know. This stuff is ridiculous. The media use it to make money and to distract people from the issues. We need to get past this and get back to the things that voters really care about, like the war and the economy.

Let's examine this a little further shall we. To knock Hillary for a comment she never heard is silly? I believe thats what they're doing to Obama. Obama says one thing and he's not believed because of his twenty year association with Trinity United Church. No one knows what Obama heard and what he didn't. He attackers know, because thats been the base of their attacks. Everything about Obama is based on the Reverend Wrights tapes. Obama is being held accountable because of the words of Reverend Wright. Obama is being held accountable because of William Ayers. But, why drop Ayers and continue the attacks on Obama using Reverend Wright. Using Reverend Wright has a better impact on the voters then Ayers does. Why, because as long as Reverend Wright stays in the news, the white voters will rally to Hillary. Ayers wouldn't bring in the same white voters as Reverend Wright would. So Reverend Wright stays in the news. If those who attack Obama wanted Hillary, it wouldn't matter to them if Hillary heard the comment or not. Look how they've use the tapes against Obama.

That videotape of Mikey Kantor even if not true, raises doubt on what the Clintons have done all along, which is to lie through their teeth for personal gain. I have no respect for Bill since the Monica Lewinski disgrace(which everyone so conveniently has forgotten)which brought shame to this country and made us the laughing stock of the world. And if Hillary is so tough as they say, why didn't she cut off Bill's cojones as Lorena Babbitt did to her cheating husband? As a married woman, I would never have stayed with Bill Clinton, for political expediency.

The video only brings to surface what America really thinks of the Clintons, thet they are true hypocrites: while living in extreme wealth, they portray themselves as friends of the poor, that they are progressive when Bill sold out Magnaquench to the Chinese, forcing jobs away from an Indiana town, that they didn't play the racial divide, when that is what they have done. The list is endless. If Americans want to vote on lies, then they will get the government they deserve

I call BS on this article. I saw the video, over & over, and this Kantor guy is clearly the elitist that politicians keep around to boost their egos. To nullify what this guy said is to believe the Clintons, who (let's face facts) are notorious liars.... I mean "misspeakers".

I'm saddened to see the news agencies taking sides on this. They should report nothing more than facts, and let the voters decide for themselves.
