Now all sides are up in arms, this was not supposed to happen, Hillary was and is counting on what SHE PRECEIVED TO BE TH RACISM in AMERICA, as are the Republicans, though they knew what a factor his is since they could not find ANYBODY to defeat him in Ill.

McCain is a NON ISSUE, a strawman an OLD strawman...

Oh Yeah,

Obama has enough experience to know the difference between Sunni and Shia, and to know who the actual leader of Iran is...McCain...not so much.

Obama also has enough experience to VOTE YES FOR OUR TROOPS ON THE NEW GI BILL.

McCain did not even show to vote MCCAIN VOTED NO ON SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS, WHY? WHY WAS HE AT AFUND RAISER INSTEAD? HIS CAMPAIGN TO CONTINUE "WAR FOR OIL". OR THE LIVES OF OUR TROOPS...MCCAIN CHOSE HIMSELF OVER OUR TROOPS....

During the Iowa campaign, it almost seemed like the evangelicals were determined to find another candidate so they wouldn't have to vote for McCain or Romney. First they turned to Fred Thompson. When it turned out that he didn't want to run for the job they turned to Mike Huckabee. Huckabee went on to win the majority of evangelical voters until he dropped out of the race. Evangelicals don't like McCain because they view him as too moderate. They don't like Romney because he allowed himself to be perceived as pro-choice and pro-gay-rights when it suited him as Governor of Massachusetts. The combination of the two of them on the same ticket may drop evangelical turnout. When combined with the increased African-American turnout Obama is expected to generate, this may result in the Democrats winning in some surprising places.

One upside you didn't mention is a potential boost in Nevada and Colorado the ticket would receive from Mormon voters. They're not nearly as numerous in those states as they are in Utah, but in a close race they could make the difference.

Finally, Rove wants Romney because Rove knows the electoral map... better than any other current politico. If Rove says Romney is the way to go, McCain would be a fool not to pick him.

The other best choice is Jindal -- he takes healthcare and makes it a Republican issue that Obama can't com close to matching him on. I think Jindal looks TOO young for McCain -- they'll look like a grandpa and grandson and that isn't necessarily a good thing.

He comes off as conceited and fake (i.e Hilary). However, he provides exactly what McCain lacks: business acumen, healthcare experience, fundraising ability and executive experience. He is the consummate politician and would sure up the fiscal conservative side of the Republican Party with those credentials. Another plus is that he would certainly be willing to be the attack dog on the campaign trail and I wouldn't mind putting him up against whoever the Dem VP candidate is. Aside from these things, he helps in the Mountain West with Mormons - in states where Obama was particularly strong. Michigan also might be in play and he would help in states like Pennsylvania and Ohio where his economic experience would bode well. He also has a great deal of vitality and as Romano pointed out looks like he is 50.

His negatives are somewhat of a problem. To begin with, he and McCain obviously don't like each other - though this hasn't really hurt other tickets. He is also basically a turncoat Democrat, which is both a pro and con. It helps with independents, yet scares those really hardcore conservatives just as much as McCain. He also will not energize evangelicals turnout, but the only guy who can do that is Huckabee. They will still turn out for the Republicans though because gay-marriage will still be a visible issue (on the ballot in some states I believe) and McCain has made it clear he is for judges against the Roe decision.

All in all, he is the yin to McCain's yang, which is perhaps why they fought so much on the campaign trail. I disliked Romney the person and not necessarily his politics, so him as McCain's No. 2 wouldnt really both me. He has shown to be an able executive, something important to have when his boss will be 72 on Inauguration Day (I know McCain's mom is still alive as a fossil).

Romney was not liked well enough by the Republican voters during this campaign to vote for him and he is not popular with his Mormon Religion by the general population.

Still McCain might want to use Romney because he knows Romney is a vicious campaigner who blasted McCain many times in the past and McCain needs an "Attack Dog" type guy to blast the Democratic Candidates..........we shall see what happens!!!!!

At least that is the analysis from the following op-ed from a liberal website. Until Huckabeen's outrageous Obama/gun gaffe, the Dems and MSM loved him. Much as some Repubs believe Hillary would be easier to beat than Oblahblah, Dems believe Huckabeen as Veep would be easier to beat than Romney. When I blog, I see Dems fear of Romney on display by their zeal to try to trash him; but nary a word about Huckabeen (until the shooting Obama thing). Whom the Dems fear the most, should give McCain some pretty important and useful info on selecting the best VP for winning the general election!

Huckabeen has shown his true colors over the past 5 to 6 months. He is an ethically-challenged (see Judicial Watch's list of TOP TEN MOST CORRUPT POLITICIANS of 2007), charlatan snake oil salesman, and is egotistical with a BIG DISASTROUS MOUTH!

Romano, are you smoking crack?!?!

Did you even see the California GOP debate at the Reagan library right before Super Tuesday? Do you not remember MCCAIN looking like he wanted to punch Romney's lights out because Romney stood up to McCain for the boldfaced lie McCain said about Romney wanting a timetable to exit Iraq? Go watch the debate again. You are either really, really stupid or.....

you've had it out for Romney even during the early stages of his primary run. I've been following your writing since then and your disdain for Romney sticks out like a giant zit.

Indeed , dosen't every Repubican since Reagan need to pander to this demographic to win anything? How can McCain pander to the Intolerant Evangelists with a Mormon.

I cannot see the most intolertant demographic in the GOP voting for someone who is 'not one of them'.

I'M A HILARY WHITE WOMAN VOTER. IF SHE IS NOT ON THE TICKET I WILL VOTE FOR MCCAIN.

IT WON'T BE A STRETCH FOR ME BECAUSE THIS TRIP OBAMA HAS TAKEN MADE IT VERY CLEAR TO ME HOW DEVIOUS OBAMA REALLY IS.

THIS TRIP IS NOTHING MORE THAN A HOLLYWOOD TYPE STUNT. PROBABLY IF THE TRUTH BE KNOWN HOLLYWOOD GAVE HIM THE IDEA.

THIS ISN'T ABOUT TRYING TO FIND OUT HOW TO MAKE OUR WORLD BETTER. IT'S HOW TO MAKE OBAMA LOOK BETTER. IT'S DISGUSTING AND SAD.

I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT THE "IN THE TANK" MEDIA FALLS FLAT ON THEIR FACE. THEY HAVE DISGRACED THE POLITICS OF LATE. THEY HAVE MADE IT INTO A JOKE.

HONESTLY I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE IS NO ONE THAT CAN GIVE THEM CONSEQUENCES FOR THEIR BLATANT BIASED COVERAGE. THIS IS, AFTER ALL, AMERICA. WHAT HAPPENED TO FAIR AND BALANCED. HOPEFULLY BY PUTTING ROMNEY ON THE TICKET RIGHT AWAY THE MEDIA IN IT'S HOPEFUL ASHAMEDNESS WILL GIVE THEM THE COVERAGE THEY DESERVE
