His actions in Kosovo led to significant "collateral damage" - the killing of civilians on both sides of the conflict. More importantly, his subsequent misleading testimony before Congress as well as the denials (read: outright lies) to the media of any misdeeds at the time was an attempt to obfuscate the actions by the United States that could very well have led to charges of negligent homicide by international courts.

The intervention in Kosovo was not a success; one need only examine international reports of Al-Qaeda bases in Kosovo, the reports of the trafficking of women and cocaine, and the corruption at the highest levels of their government. The United States will be spending our taxpayer dollars there for years to come.

Barrack Obama is all about change. Wesley Clark is taking a step back to policies of the Clinton Administration that are no different from the policies of the Bush Administration.

Fact is, he could not win the Dem nomination for Pres. in 2004 and is not really a politician, as he has no patience for the kinds of cnuts-and-bolts political work and chicanery that is part of the world of American politics.

Evan Bayh has it all: Former 2-term gov of IN who balanced seven state budgets and won reelection by largest margin ever attained by a Dem in IN gubernatorial race; popular senator in his second term; member of Armed Services Committee; supporter of Hillary who, if chosen, would help heal the wounds of the primary season; might be able to bring IN into the win column for the Dems, although it is by no means certain. A few years older than Barack, he is experienced and I think they would be sympatico, given that he is lo-key but was very loyal to Hillary, as I believe he would be to Barack.

If not Bayh, Gov Rendell of PA or Richardson of NM would work, as would Chris Dodd of CT.

Their backgrounds are too similar in some important ways.

* Both are Senators

* Both are from Northern states

* Both are Ivy League Law School grads

* Neither was ever in the military, and we are currently in 2 wars/occupations

* Neither of them has executive experience (such as a governorship or running a business)

* Both are from underrepresented groups among presidential candidates

I recommend Wesley Clark for Obama's VP. Clark is from the Hillary campaign (a nod of respect to Hillary and her supporters). Clark is not in the Senate, and his election as VP would thereby not affect the balance of power or Hillary's seniority in the Senate. Clark comes from Arkansas, which is certainly not a Northern state, and would appeal to voters along Hillary's Axis of Appalachia. Clark graduated first in his class at West Point, and became a 4-star general. He conducted a successful war in Kosovo with no US battle fatalities (ie, executive experience) and brought Milosevic to justice. Clark is also an excellent debater. His experience would complement the Obama presidency well.

OBAMA/CLARK 08

I am pleased to read however that Daschle and Johnson are lobbying for a Clinton supporter. If he can survive a thorough vetting, I'd love to see Ed Rendell on the ticket. He was the one surrogate who was so persuasive as to make you almost want to vote for Hillary. He (almost never) went negative against Obama when making Hillary's arguments for her. He always seems fair and his own man. With 20 years of NON-WASHINGTON executive experience, he's the kind of change AND experience candidate Obama needs. When the dust settles, the veep will be Richardson, Rendell, or McCaskill. Mark it.

You stated that Clark did not win any "consequential" primaries during his presidential run in 04, and that he has never won an election. Untrue. He won the state of Oklahoma in 04, which is both a primary and an election. And before Iowa, he was at the top of all the national polls (tied with Howard Dean). And all this after a late start into the race, with no money and no organization. In summary, Clark's one brief experience on the campaign trail was pretty darn successful.

Hillary's over-exposure tothe media recently, especially anti-Obama statements, would make it an ineffective ticket, and drive away independents.

And frankly, while I'm an Obama supporter, even some of us have a ? next to his military chops. I don't think he'd be a bad or weak Commander-in-Chief. I just worry that he it would take him awhile to be able to tell a great general from an idiot. Wes Clarke, can tell the difference between a GO HARD! and a BLOW HARD at a glance, and he's a BRILLIANT Tactician.

You know who cares about that? Joe Pick-up cares about that. Romano is just telling it like it is. Have you seen the hulla-ba-loo baloney about Obama being a Muslim? That is just an excuse for some people as to why they won't vote for him. Why? Because right now in this country it is OK to be anti-Muslim but tacky to be anti-black, so they use the excuse they won't vote for him for fear of Islam when in fact they won't just because he is black. Wesley Clark will help mobilize white, blue collar voters that Obama needs to win the election.

Yes, it matters Wesley Clark is white. As tacky as it might sound the reality is that it matters a whole lot.

I absolutely would vote for Obama with Clark as his VP.......I absolutely would not vote for Obama with

H.Clinton as his VP. I am sick of Clinton's tall tales and her saying she would not accept the VP position....fine.......don't offer it to her, just let her go on dodging flak and shots fired by non existent snipers. How in Gods name can anyone actually trust her ?????
**************

I find it hypocritical of Obama supporters like you who continue to bring up the Bosnia incident but seem to be blind to Obama's claim that his parents met at the Selma march and little Obama was a result. Yet, the Selma march was in 1965 - Obama was born in 1961. So, whose telling lies and how can you trust him????

The only way - and that is a stretch, that I would vote for Obama is if Hillary Clinton or Wesley Clark is on the ticket. I think Obama is just a big liar and race-baiter. I would rather take my chance with McCain.

Obama doesn't need Wesley Clark on his ticket. I'd love to see him take either Edwards or Richardson. Edwards has the most charisma and voter appeal. He can put someone like Colin Powell in to his cabinet and find plenty of military brains. Clark is not that popular.

***********************

Edwards has been there and lost.

Richardson hasn't the appeal to the white blue-collar voter or the women voters either for that matter.

Colin Powell made a powerful speech at the UN that made most of us believers in the war in Iraq. In other words, he sold us a bill of bad goods. He is toast. It is too bad that the Bush administration used him in such a manner because they knew the American public would believe him. But, he gave the speech with the lies and made-up evidence.

Clark won the Oklahoma primary in 2004, so it isn't as though he hasn't done any campaigning. Obama's choice of a running mate will determine on whether he does or does not win. RIght now, an inventory of his experience comes up pretty low..
