Behar is going to be on Larry King tonight to talk about the episode with Michelle Obama. I wish I had seen Michelle Obama but I stopped watching the View a long time ago as I cannot stand that idiot Behar. Love Whoopie and Elizabeth but even the two of them together cannot make me watch when Behar is on there. Needless to say, I couldn't care less what Behar has to say on Larry King.

This article is a little tongue-in-cheek about the campaign's attempt to re-introduce Michelle Obama, but it's hard to imagine what else better they could do. She has been mis-represented as nothing like she really is, and she needs a chance to show the country herself. Although the opportunities the team uncovers might seem a little contrived, they are doing the best they can, I'm sure!

In a campaign influenced by Walmart, instead of backing the pro-labor candidate, Obama backed a "Walmart tool."

There was little surprising about Obama's endorsement given his self-interested allegiances to the politically powerful City Hall regime of Chicago's Mayor Daley, with whom Obama shares the same big money campaign super-consultant (David Axlerod) and numerous big money sponsors.

For the first time Mayor Daley had vetoed an ordinance by his normally obedient City Council, a measure widely supported by citizens, community organizations, and labor unions in Chicago's black, Latino, and working-class wards, and he did not want the council to bring the measure up again. It was originally passed by the council under pressure from a remarkable grassroots campaign, and would have required giant retail corporations like Wal-Mart, Target, Lowes, and Home Depot to pay workers a modest minimum wage of ten dollars an hour by 2010.

Wal-Mart and Target announced that they were putting a number of "big box" retail developments on hold in Chicago, and launched a preemptive public relations strike, threatening to disinvest in the city unless a "favorable business climate" was restored. Daley made a special point of wrapping his veto in the flag of racial justice, claiming it was required to permit the flowering of economic development in the city's abandoned ghetto neighborhoods.

Pat Dowell, the recipient of significant support from the Service Employees' International Union (SEIU), was running against Tillman, and Dowell had strongly criticized Tillman for siding with Daley and Wal-Mart.

Obama needed the support of the powerful campaign finance magnet Daley, and endorsed Tillman, over labor-backed Dowell.

Obama's wife Michelle then received $51,200 in 2006 for attending a few board meetings of TreeHouse Foods, a giant firm that relied heavily on its close business relationship with Wal-Mart. The granting of high-pay/do-little board posts to the spouses of politicians is a longstanding tool of the "old," corporate-dominated politics that Senator Obama claims to reject. This is not like Clinton's placement on the board of Walmart as the result of an effort to address sex discrimination in Walmart's employment practices.

Mrs. Obama resigned from her position with TreeHouse in the summer of 2007, citing "increased demands on her time" in connection with her husband's presidential campaign.

It isn't surprising that she cut her politically damaging ties to a notoriously anti-labor company that her husband was attacking Clinton about in his speeches. I mean, how would it look for the pot to be calling the kettle black?

Michelle and Barack Obama are publically behind the eight ball next to McCain who has been around for centuries. It's only natural that they're taking this opportunity to let the American public see what they're like as a family. WRT to creating a softer side; give me a break! She's a WOMAN through and through and this is what attracted Barack in the first place. She doesn't need to morph into a stepford wife to be appealing. Judyco, I didn't attend the rainbow coalition, but I can tell you from attending other black events that you guys are the last thing on our minds. What we usually discuss is how we can be improve our lives as African Americans, how to educate our children, better economic gains, investments, starting businesses, housing, better schools. I can certainly see her railing against "whitey" in Rev Wright's church. I believe that to be true no matter what the Obama campaign says. And note well, they deny there is a video tape about it. That doesn't mean she didn't give such a speech. She certainly seems to have an attitude, what we used to call an "uppity" one!

What gets me about her is the kind of opportunities she has had in this country and yet she disparages the country. How many white women in this country or white men for that matter had the opportunity to attend Princeton as an undergrad, Harvard Law after that and then eventually get a $300+K job? She is just a black elitiist and a whiner with an attitude! She turns my stomach!

She used her own medical charity to solicit prescriptions from doctors, then put them in the name of people on her staff in order to get the drugs she was addicted to, hence the thief, liar, drug addict, and felon comment. They better change their desperate tactic of attacking Michelle with Cindy's past.

We seem to forget the cabinet, close allies and advisors who helped steer him into this mess? Hard work and accomplishments knows no color/race because it's the American Dream. You work hard, you get ahead and you make a better life for your children. Obama and Michelle are typical to affirmatyive action students, they get into good schools with a much lower performance level than other students (cacusians, Whities, Asians, Lationos). Underperform in their classes (did anyone check for Obamas grades at Harvard). Get full fellowships as the schools have to fill their quota of Black students. Than they are hired to fill job quotas, and after all of it

Michelle and Obama complain about "How hard they worked...", well they did not work as hard as most of the students and families who had to realy work hard for their children to get into ivey leagues schools.

What a joke Michelle is, trying to play it on both sides. If to judge by the outcome, their affirmative action support program was a total failure.

Do you possess their transcripts? Were you on the admissions boards that accepted them? The only way that you can make that claim is if you assume that ANY and EVERY non-white student that is accepted into these schools is somehow inferior to their white counterparts...if that is what you are suggesting, then let me be the first to inform you that your slip is showing...your "your racist slip" that is...

Repaite: I do not think H Clinton was always treated fairly by the media or even by some democrat leaders. Everyone knows that when you have been in politics as long as the Clintons, people respect your experience which is positive but will also drag up all the nasty things that any politician accumulate over time. In the end, we should judge Obama with the same open mind and fairness as his opponent. It's hard to discuss issues with guys who cannot trust Obama ¨no matter what he says¨or hold affirmative action<against him. Affirmative action, maybe helped him get his foot in the door, but he had to work hard to graduate, this is Princeton, not your average community college.

Since you asked pramono, just for your info, Obama graduated Harvard magna *** laude, earning a cumlative GPA of 3.750 to 3.899. I know you have no idea what that means, so to make it simple for you, it means he is pretty darned smart. He was also elected President of the Harvard Law Review his second year at Harvard. The election to that position is based on grades. Hate to inform your narrow minded thinking, but the many top private law firms that offered him jobs don't hire to fill any quotas. Michelle graduated *** laude, earning a comulative GPA of 3.6, which means she was pretty darn smart too, They had to pay back those student loans the same as anyone else who attends college. It must really kill you that a black person is smarter than you are, huh.

Obama stands up for his 'wife' but as Hillary knows, he isn't for the worman. I don't care for Michelle simply because of her attitude and I sure don't/won't accept this 'new makeover'. The other, I feel, was at least, more honest. she is what she is..... that is what is is.

I will be voting. I won't vote for a president as there are none that I feel can do the job as it needs to be done. I certainly don't want McCain, and Obama is a light weight. No experience and we have had eight years of on the job training. We certainlycan't withstand another four years. Obama will never make it longer than eight years.

The dems are acting the same as the republicans did in two thousand. One out of voters may be able to tell us the difference on th eimportant issues facing this nation, the difference between McBush and 'the anointed O'. That is IF the voter has taken the time to DIG DEEP and locate the positions of both candidates. Certainly neither are talking about much of anything except the supposed mistreatment of their 'wives'. All of the hatred towards a woman that we don't even know. That people would want more of Republican rule rather than putting in office a black man shows that America is still hung up on race and would rather lose their home, lose their jobs, put their kids and grand kids future in jeopardy, stuns me. It matters not to me that he is black, I think this country needs change and if we don't get it soon, we will be taking the express elevator to hell in a hand basket. He already has most of them, but the more Hillary supporters Obama gets, the better his chances of winning. It doesn't help his cause when his campaign says he can win without Ohio and Florida, and when his supporters say he doesn't "need" the remaining Hillary supporters. It doesn't help his cause when his supporters continue to bash Hillary and her supporters, and state or imply that her supporters are racist. The danger isn't so much Hillary supporters turning to McCain. The danger is Hillary supporters not having enthusiasm for Obama. Without that enthusiasm, some of her supporters will stay home, or, like Interested! not vote for president at all. Let's hoe Obama nad Michelle's "makeover" is genuine. News & Notes, you seem to have selective reading. Ninety percent of these posts in this thread are in fact racist. I am shocked really that this much still exists in this country. You want to lecture the Obama supporters who defend him against these attacks, many of them by Hillary supporters who will never vote for him under any circumstances. There are a lot of them who will vote for McCain simply for revenge, or just stay home, and they come onto these blogs to spew their hatred for the man. You say they should be treated with respect from Obama supporters, maybe they ought to try a little respect themselves if they want it in return. Why is it okay for them to attack Obama, but not okay for his supporters to defend him? They are all over the blogs spewing the same hateful comments that are abundant on this thread. They come onto these threads with their threats, using their vote as some kind of power play. We are not about to grovel at the feet of people who come onto these threads with statements like Obama can't win without us, so you better play nice/nice while calling him the anointed one and other insulting remarks. You want to suck up to people like that, you go ahead, but don't lecture those of us who won't let them use their vote as a threat.

Generally speaking, those who voted for and supported Hillary in the primaries are not racist. Like many Obama supporters, they are loyal democrats! Since Obama is not as well known on the national scale, many moderate Hillary supporters are looking for re-assurance from Obama's camp that they are welcome. However, lectures, bashing, insults, and superiority will not win them over. My reading skills are just fine, and most Hillary supporters want to enthusiastically support Obama. However, it is the responsibility of Obama and his supporters to win them over.

I loved Michelle Obama from the first time I heard her speak. She is so alive and funny and real. She speaks from her heart and she listens with her heart. I love the way she looks and the way she dresses. I love the quiet strength of her. I love the way she loves her husband. I love the idea of having a young family in the White House again. I will be so proud to have the Obama's representing me to the world. And the world will like it too! In polls taken of 30,000 people in 22 countries, the world is hugely hoping for Obama to be the next U.S. President. People all over the world feel that their lives have a better chance of being good if he is chosen. There are international clubs in every corner of the globe that support him even though they have no vote. They have parties. They make banners. They pose in groups on bridges with Obama signs and post the pictures on line. A group of Asian leaders was recently in the U.S. for meetings.. When interviewed, this is what they said: "If the United States choses Barack Obama as their next president, the world opinion of America will go up by at least fifty percent on that very day." What a lovely, intelligent and capable couple we have chosen. Good for us.
