Fueled by Barack Obama's icy reaction and outrage from his irony-deficient Democratic disciples, the New Yorker cover kerfluffle consumed the nation's (or at least blogosphere's) attention for three straight days. Usually foder that is gleaned from the media. Obama's fields are small, and they have have not rippened (unless you count the hot air and promise fields). If you sow little you reap little. What the media has gleaned they have kept hidden until they are exposed by others or they have not shoveled it out to the American public in an honest journalistic light. That said, only a few years ago Obama Changed direction and ran for the US Senate and won by using old time political manuvers. Upon arriving in Washington he got the basic tour of the Senate and hung his shingle out for Change (I got goose bumps). I want Change! So there should be no surprise that they (the comedians) and the American public have suffered due to the lack of comic humor because of Obama's lack of foder. I wouldn't have any foder either if I spent all my time on the road running for President and not representing my State. I for one find a lot of humor in Obama's ever Changing positions on Change. Your devoted Republican follower. Chuck Hasker. I want Change!

Nice post. Barack does seem to be a serious man. I remembered this from the primaries:

"To the special interests who’ve been setting the agenda in Washington for far too long, to all the forces of division and distraction that have stopped us from making progress for the American people, I’ve got one question, Do you smell what Barack is cooking?"

So much of the media that is aimed at Barack Obama would more properly be described, as written by tragedians, and by media I mean the "macro media", from internet "opinion base" to talk radio hacks.

I've seen him be funny when he speaks, but he often sounds like he can't distance himself from whatever tasks might be at hand. It doesn't bother me, but I can see how comedy writers might run into problems.

In order for them to do their "job" they should use what is available - the fodder. Obama is naturally a serious person. Nothing wrong with that. It would have been scary if he was a joker. Now let those comics try hard, as they usally do to make fun of people. I am not one for making fun of others, because I put myself in their place. Jokes we all laugh about are OK. But when we make jokes, which are hurtful and we expect the victim to laugh or be happy about tha that shows a mentality for which I do not even have a word.

I sense here that there may be a new paradigm: It is politically correct to laugh at yourself irrespective of the gravity of the joke against you. How we twist things to suit our whims!!

Obama will be a victim of jokes and satire, but people should not expect him to laugh about it when he does not appreciate it.
