What the $52 million dollar figure tells me is that the Obama campaign are big fat liars. That's why they needed the extra two weeks to come up with a figure.

They know that Obama is sinking and if they admitted he didn't pull in much money last month it would look real bad for him so they had to take some time to try to cook the books!

Otherwise, why would they have not been able to release the figures right after the first of the month as usual?

Sorry, but I, for one, don't buy it! I bet he didn't raise anywhere near that amount and they are just trying to make things look good.

Interesting food for thought Andrew, and a good observation concering the, Did David Axelrod whisper " $30 Million" into Cooper's ear? If my memory serves me correctly I remember a similar news story during the Obama vs Clinton primary. Clinton reported a high donation month and the story broke a week or two before Obama's reprot card came in. And they were predicting that Obama was going to come in short when compared to Clintons haul. But when Obamas story broke it was big headlines. Is there a pattern forming? Is David Axelrod that shrewd? And when did the largest amount of donations come into the Obama coffers before or after the Cooper story. If Axelrod did whisper into Coopers ear he had to have had someone else do the whispering so he could deny having anything to do with it. Typical. Chuck Hasker

P.S. I was under the impression that since Senator Obama opted out of Public financing, he could roll Primary money over to the general. I have also read on other sites that the $2 million figure could also be interpreted to mean that the great majority of Obama donors have not reach the maximum.

Andrew, Primary money can be "rolled over" into the general. If he leaves the convention with $100 CoH, most of that will be added to the General election fund. Since only $2 million is already in the general election fund, this is actually a pretty clear indicator that te vast amount of donors' contributions can be moved to the general election.

They are actually releasing their numbers EARLY (they aren't due until the 20th). And it's not the kind of thing that can be lied about, since literally every dollar and literally every donation (even through sales of shirts and buttons) needs to be counted, reported, and submitted. Obama needs to concentrate more than whining about people being "meanies" to his wife and start paying more attention to what he needs to do to win in November.

Take some of that $52 million and start running t.v. ads reminding people daily that the next president may possibly get to appoint as many as 3 justices to the Supreme Court.

I am so sick of both he and his wife, but as a Democrat I will do whatever necessary to see that a republican never gets back in the WHite House during my lifetime.

Maybe Obama ought to spend some of that money on an ad denouncing that clown Jesse Jackson for his comment referring to his own people as "Ni**ers", If a white person had said that the black community would be rioting in the streets, sending death threats, hate mail, etc.

Because that idiotic circus freak of the black community, Jesse Jackson said it, the black community lets it slide with so bogus "I'm sorry". With leaders like those freaks Jackson, Sharpton and Wright, I can see why the word is still used today. Black rap artists can't write a single song that doesn't contain, murder, violence, rape, the "N" word, etc.

Whoopee Goldberg, on today's episode of that gossip show "The View" tried to excuse it by basically saying it's understandable and okay for a black person to say it, but NOT a white person.

I say B.S.!!!!!!!! If the black community doesn't want to be referred to in that way then two things need to happen. 1) All blacks need to delete the word from their pathetic vocabulary, and 2) stop protesting, whining, complaining, having marches, etc. whenever it is used in the white community.

The black community needs to wake the hell up and realize this is the 21st century and they don't have a monopoly on being discriminated against. Gays, women, etc. are victimized and face discrimination everyday. So shut the hell up, take a number and get in line. IF the black community feels that the "N" word is acceptable amongst their own kind, I say it's fair game.

I will put up the entire fee to get McCain fully tested for both the short term memory tests and the 'incipient' Alzeheimer's tests, so we can avoid having another Reagan II, with Nancy hiding Ron in the closet, lest we learn he had full on Alzheimer's. Why does it matter? Reagan was not able to testify on Bush I's possible/probably treason, in selling weapons to the Iranian terrorists, because he just could not remember what had happened. Enough age discrimination. Get McCain to submit to tests.

After all, 15% of persons over 70 have Alzheimer's. Let's not play along with let's pretend.

The Bush administration liked conspiracy stories, too. They cooked that one up about all of those weapons of mass destruction that Saddam had, and got Condi to say something about us being under a mushroom cloud in just 45 minutes if we didn't do something quick. You can really capture the imagination of the general public with fake conspiracy stuff. There was that one years ago about Amelia Earhart just after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and she had been lost for some time before that. The theory was that she was on some kind of a spy mission for Roosevelt trying to photograph Japanese war preparations, and that Roosevelt knew that they were going to bomb Pearl Harbor but that he let it happen so that he could get us into a war. All of 'em are pure hogwash, but, I swear, you can get more people to believe this kind of crap than an ordinary old dull set of bland facts that would put a person to sleep half way through. It's how hollywood got so rich. They discovered this in the old silent film days and look where they are today. Everything they sell is imaginary. Just like the Bush administration. Pardon me for being so frank, but it's genuine truth, how hogwash sells so well.

Nobody raises hogs any more. We fed ours in the yard and had chickens, too. Fresh eggs every day. And a milk cow. I tied a rope around her neck and staked her out in vacant lots on the way to elementary school every day and picked her up on the way home for her evening's milking. But, I digress. Hogs wallow in mud. Helps them in a number of ways very practical. Anyway, when you want to get one of them cleaned up for show, you wash them. Well, the hog wallow has a lot of impurities in it besides mud, including some of the hog excretions, smelly, but really good garden fertilizer. Anyway; the stuff that comes off of them after a bath is called, you guessed it, "Hogwash". That's the kind of material we're talking about here in these campaigns. How long has it been since either one of them promised to provide some kind of medical system? See?

McCain's money is coming mainly from bundlers and the $2,300 donors and is not doing badly. Senator Obama has almost 2 million donors, probably a lot more since he became the presumptive nominee. Those donations from $5.00 to $50 dollars add up quckly when people give every month. Looks like more donors gave during June since June 2 was when Senator Obama won over Hilliary. We are now fighting a new candidate and we want our candidate to win and will keep on suoporlting the good Senator from Illinois all the way!!

The people on here criticizing and blasting Senator Obama for his outstanding grassroots fundraising are probably the same ones that talked the same way during the primaries, those who supported Hilliary and hate the good senator from Illinois. Judging from Hilliary's huge $23 million debt, I would say they did not contribute money to her and are still not contributing to her to help her pay her $23 million of which $9 million is owed to the average everday small service providers and vendors. IF they are supporting McCain, I doubt he will get anything from them either.

By the way, I meant 35 years ago and not e5 years ago. Also, wanted to point out that the POW picture of himself in one of his recent televised ads, McCain does NOT have any bandages or wraps on him. There are NO black and blue bruises or visible injuries on his body. He does not look like he was starving, he looks pretty healthy to me!! I am sure those who have seen that particular ad would agree.

MCGILL, lets review the last president who had the experience and military background "necessary" to run this country. His name would be Gorge W. Bush and he has been the worst president since maybe Taft, he has disgraced our nation's standing as world leaders, and allowed the economy to end up the fiasco its heading for. Military service does not make you cut out for national leadership nor does serving in congress for decades or even serving as a governor. Its the person, for example one of the greates presidents in history had the same amount (if not less) experience as Obama, Abraham Lincoln, who served in the state legislature for a few terms, and in the House for 2 years before running for President. I'll tell ya McGill, I served two tours in Asia 1960 to 1968, and McCains military service does NOT qualify him to be president. The fact is McCain is a third generation military brat, Granted being shot down may qualify him to hero status but nothing more.

You say McCain is the only honest candidate, Well he has been honest enough to tell us he intends to continue Bush's economic policy's and Bush's Iraq policy's, he's told us diplomatic dialog is out he's rather bomb first and ask questions later, His advisors have told us they think the economy is great. I'm sure it is for the likes of Gramm and Fiorna and McCain himself but for the other 98% of America it's not so great, so they have told us they are out of touch with America.

The GOP has pushed Globalization which is only another way of saying American workers are going to be on the same level as the rest of the world, and it's working.

Another 4 to 8 years of this and the middle class in America will ceace to exist. Already we see people getting to work on their bicycles, which is one thing that struck me about Asia, it is an important means of transportation, while in America it was a kids toy. Part of the GOP's vision of America.

If you can't figure out what Obama is all about it's because you are not paying attention or not smart enough to get it.

What Obama does not seem to understand is that the Brandenburg Gate is something you earn. President Reagan earned the right to speak there because his relentless pressure had brought the Soviet empire to its knees and he was demanding its final "tear down this wall" liquidation.

Who is Obama representing? And what exactly has he done in his lifetime to merit appropriating the Brandenburg Gate as a campaign prop? What was his role in the fight against communism, the liberation of Eastern Europe, the creation of what George Bush 41 -- who presided over the fall of the Berlin Wall but modestly declined to go there for a victory lap -- called "a Europe whole and free"?

There''''s nothing new about narcissism in politics. Every senator looks in the mirror and sees a president. Nonetheless, has there ever been a presidential nominee with a wider gap between his estimation of himself and the sum total of his lifetime achievements?

Obama is a three-year senator without a single important legislative achievement to his name, a former Illinois state senator who voted "present" nearly 130 times. As president of the Harvard Law Review, as law professor and as legislator, has he ever produced a single notable piece of scholarship? Written a single memorable article? His most memorable work is a biography of his favorite subject: himself.

For the first few months of the campaign, the question about Obama was: Who is he? The question now is: Who does he think he is?

OBAMA's stance in Iraq is correct.THE IRAQI's must take control of their own security and U.S. troops must begin comming home by 2010. The nucleus of Al Queda is in AFGANISTAN AND PAKISTAN. IF they are defeated then there is no more AL Queda in IRAQ. Obama's assessment of refocusing the war on terror to AFGANISTAN AND PAKISTAN was most impressive.

What shocked me was his stance on the wiretapping bill. This is a clear violation of our privacy rights as AMERICANS. Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg. In 2010 REAL ID's will become law. Eventually the government will have all our personal information on a chip. I WAS VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED IN OBAMA's vote on this issue.

OUR CONSITITUTION IS ALL WE HAVE TO PROTECT OURSELVES AGAINST GOVERNMENTS WHO OVER REACH THEIR POWERS. WHAT MAKES OUR COUNTRY GREAT IS THE CHECKS AND BALANCES THAT ARE IN PLACE.

THE RATIONAL behind voting in favor of this bill cannot really be justified. I guess OBAMA is trying to show he can work with Republicans and is willing to comprimise. Inotherwords he voted for this controversial bill and will be able to use his vote as leverage for a bill he really wants passed in the future.

OBAMA has a fifty state strategy and has a good chance of winning four states which are traditionally republican strongholds, in the fall. He can make the case that he can work with Republicans and Democrats to get things done. IT is inevitable that one day these wire tap laws will be abused at the expense of our privacy. What is the big deal in getting a warrant. THIS IS WHAT PROTECTs US AMERICANS AGAINST POTENTIAL GOVERNMENT INTRUSION.

I DO NOT THINK AMERICANS REALLY UNDERSTAND THAT THE GOVERNMENT IS USING TERRORISM AS AN EXECUSE TO INVADE OUR PRIVACY. WE ALREADY HAVE PRIVACY ISSUES WITH CREDIT CARD COMPANIES AND CORPORATIONS WHO TRADE OUR PERSONAL INFORMATION AMONGST THEMSELVES TO INCREASE THEIR PROFITS.

THERE has not been one attack on AMERICAN SOIL SINCE 9/11. DURING THIS TIME WE DID NOT HAVE A WIRETAPPING BILL. CITIZEN GROUPS NEED TO ORGANIZE AND START FIGHTING TO GET OUR PRIVACY RIGHTS BACK.

But those with wealth and power also have played a critical role in creating Obama's record-breaking fundraising machine, and their generosity has earned them a prominent voice in shaping his campaign. Seventy-nine BUNDLERS five of them billionaires, have tapped their personal networks to raise at least $200,000 each. They have helped the campaign recruit more than 27,000 donors to write checks for $2,300, the maximum allowed. Donors who have given more than $200 account for about half of Obama's total haul, which stands at nearly $240 million

It amazes me that our political candidates have to collect so much money for their campaigns. Why can't the media donate air time for the benefit of the American public? We should disallow campaign (smear) ads altogether. And reduce the time allowed for campaigning. It's taking forever - just get the best person elected and let's move on and resolve our large economic, energy and healthcare issues.

Then we wouldn't have to have this pissing contest going on between the candidates in terms of their coffers. It's truly insane! The one with the most money is usually the winner. Why don't we reform the elections dramatically next time around.

But since then, not knowingly, I updated my ADOBE version of one of their software (cant remember which) and it (coincidently? or maybe not went away?) . No. Foreigners are NOT ALLOWED to contribute to American politicians or campaigns and American politicians are not allowed to accept or soliciit contributions from foreigners. Period.

It doesn't matter what country, territory, principality or whatever. Foreigners are not allowed to contribute to American campaigns. At all - ever. Clear enough?

Perhaps we should ask the same question of John McCain. That is the same Sen McCain who hasn't even bothered to show up in the Senate for 4 months to cast a vote (while Sen Obama has). What? Is he afraid that he will be held accountable for the vote? Let me give you an example: he says he supports Veterans - yet refused to vote on the newest GI bill. He didn't even bother to show. I could go on - but space is limited.

So I just want to add that apparently Sen McCain is not the only one who doesn't 'google', If you were really interested in getting an answer to the question (instead of relying on what Sen McCain and the GOP says and taking it as gospel) - you would do some research.

Let me try to fill in a couple of gaps for you: while in the Illinois Legislature, Sen Obama sponsored or cosponsored some 820 bills; while in the US Senate - he has sponsored or co-sponsored 152 bills (ex perhaps you should watch Sen Obama's ad in which he talks about working with Sen Lugar re; nuclear weapons).

Sen Obama has written articles on a range of subjects such as 'The Connecction Between Faith & Politics"; "Violence in Society" (I think this was written after the VT tragedy); given speeches (before he was running for President) on Immigration and Universal Health Care.

Do I sound snide? I sure hope so. Because I (and millions of others) are so tired of condescending, pompous, uniformed remarks from people like you. Obviously you don't care for Sen Obama - that is your right. But let me say this - Sen Obama is light years ahead of John McCain - and makes Sen McCain look and sound dumber than a stump. I wouldn't vote for Sen McCain to take out the garbage for fear he would screw THAT up.

And BTW - Senator Obama is not speaking at the Brandenburg Gate because he does not think it would be appropriate. He said that a couple of days ago. If you had really been paying attention instead of parroting Charles Krauthammer's (talk about someone who is pompous and self-important) - you would know that. It was just one location the campaign was thinking about.
