Holly Bailey said it best when she included in her article the frustration of the McCain Camp, "the news media's fascination with Obama's trip overseas" When I last looked Obama was a Senator and he is actually a junior Senator with only a few years under his belt in the Senate (US) I am not talking about the state senate that most of the spin masters seem to mention but leaving out the word "state" in their spins. Most junior Senators would get a few reporters and wind up on page three in print. Why three major news anchors? I thought this was a fact finding mission on the part of Obama. Even the photos are very Presidential looking and perfect. Obama my be running for President but he is not the President as of this date only a junior senator. It seems America is hungry for the soup kitchen special. That said, I hope McCain does announce his choice for VP it might just pull out the thunder from under their Obama media lovein. Chuck Hasker

I think Romney would probably be a good pick for McCain. In the primaries he had considerable support and that would be pleasing to his supporters. Huckabee, the other contender, was a little too "down home on the farm." He had good conservative social credentials but his economic views were not all that conservative. Romney is a little to the right of McCain and a Mormon which should play well for the Evangelical vote. But Romney won't help McCain win MA which was the only state that voted for McGovern.

Jindal would not be a bad pick either but McCain will probably win LA anyway. Would Pawlenty help McCain win MN? The jury is out on that. MN voted for Mondale & Ferraro back when. McCain should pick someone from VA to ensure that state stays in the red column, maybe Jim Webb. That crossover choice might help him with the Hillary "down home on the farm vote" in a few tossup states.

Thank God some people in this country can count. If John McCain had been elected to the Senate "almost 4 decades" ago, that would make him almost 90. In reality, he was elected to the Senate 22 years ago. Maybe you've confused "decades" with "terms". He has not yet finished his fourth term as Senator. That's not a great achievement in Arizona. His predecessor (Barry Goldwater) served five terms (30 years), and Goldwater's predecessor (Carl Hayden) served seven (42 years).

As many ahve reported, it does seem that this is an effective strategy to steer attention away from Obama's trip -- especially since Obama's trip is getting such positive media attention. McCain needs to make a serious move to garner more publicity. He needs to make a serious statement that doesn't focus on Obama.

This story shows how desperate the media is to write about anything having to do with McCain. I am positive that McCain may not win the election with Romney or Huckabee. If it was Rice, he would win in a landslide because she is well respected in the political field and with world leaders. She has made several trips herself and would be a great VP for McCain or a great president should he take ill if he wins the election. McCain has complete knowledge of foreign policy and he doesn't need advisors for that. His speeches are not copied from other's like Obama's is. I hope that Rice changes her mind about the VP position. That would make real history because Rice is black whereas Obama is Mulatto. He will never be black or white but the media is afraid to say it.

The news media, perferably MSNBC was the network that kept promoting Obama and degrading Hillary and McCain. Chris Matthews was the starter of it and the rest followed. Hillary got cheated on her MI and FL delegates by the DNC who went to the superdelegates making deals if they voted for Obama. Obama went to the superdelegates himself doing the same. Obama, Nancy, Dean and Reid are all in the same category. Underhanded as can be. Nancy was jealous of Hillary and didn't want her to become president or even VP. Nancy wants to be the woman in charge. I already knew about Obama and what he did to the woman running against him. He wanted to be a senator and run for president so bad he could taste it. He read many books on MLK and now wants to make history like MLK. I hope that the people of this country wake up and think before they vote so we don't go into a disaster worse than Bush. Obama made comments about Bin Laden and the death penalty. That could start another attack against America. We don't need another 9/11.

The Obama Fever is wearing thin. Gallop now shows a 6 point lead. Remember, John Kerry had a 6 point lead over George Bush in 2004.....and he lost in November. Same with Dukakis and Bush 1 in 1988....a double digit lead in July. And he got smoked in November.

I have a question - which I've been asking for sometime now. Haven't received a good answer.

On what Christian path was McCain taking when he abandoned his disabled wife and 3 kids for a younger, richer beer heiress to only abandon her after a stroke - to learn to walk on her own?

I ask it because this is the guy who keeps leaving his values behind to trade up for the next richer thing. I truly believe he is now in bed with the corporations who will do everything in their power to get and keep him in office. Because he will keep them and us in Iraq. They can trust him. He's used to being a "kept man."

Corporations who need McCain:

Haliburton, KBR, Blackwater, Big Oil and the other private contractors making a killing in Iraq.

mj it. McCain did not "abandon" his "disabled" wife. They got divorced, it happens all of the time. She has said that they are still friends and she supports his election bid. McCain did not abandon his second wife after she had a stroke. He was a Senator and she had moved back to Arizona years earlier, she was not alone though, she lived accross the street from her parents and McCain usually came home on the weekends.
