Moreover, given his age, he is unlikely to be in the running for the presidency should Obama win two terms--thus leaving the field open for Hillary to become the first woman president in 2016. And should Obama not be elected this time around, Biden will be positioned to make a much stonger run in 2012.

For McCain: Mitt Romney. Romney will bring--at least in conservative eyes--credibility in economic policy, which is one of McCain's glaring weaknesses. McCain's session in Pastor Warren's confession-booth has probably shored up his standing with the evangelicals, and those Christian funamentalists who have had reservations about Romney on account of his Mormonism will be more prepared to overlook this heresy. Romney will be a good attack dog for McCain, and of all currently mentioned Republican VP possibilities is most plausibly qualified for the presidency.

One macabre thought: Given McCain's age and medical history, the possibility of his VP being called to the throne is going to be a subliminal factor in many voters' minds. And so will be the possibility of Obama's assassination by some fanatical racist.

Obama: Bill Richardson. He has executive office experience being a governor. He can actually swing and lock up a state that Obama needs (re: New Mexico). He has foreign policy experience and he can help lock up the votes of Latino voters. No obvious downsides is a plus too. Plus, since the pick is coming so late and people have been talking about the need for a 'wow' pick, I think Richardson might fit that description since not many people have him listed as a finalist.

McCain: Tim Pawlenty. I was torn between this or Romney, but I just think there was too much rancorous sparring between Romney and McCain during the primaries for him to be the pick, despite the fact that he would greatly help in Michigan. Pawlenty, in my opinion is a 'safe' pick. Not flashy in any obvious way and doesn't exactly appeal to any particular part of the base, but also doesn't turn off any particular part of the base either. In other words; 'safe'.

The longer we wait the more people have seemed to voice their need to be surprised by the picks as a justification for waiting so long. Yet at the same time people also seem to be coalescing around two picks: Biden and Romney. So if they're picked, then where's the surprise? Another reason I went with Richardson and Romney.

My legal name is Santa Claus; and, I'm a Christian Monk and children's advocate. I already have announced my candidacy for President, primarily because Obama and McCain have refused to address children's issues during their campaigns. There are 2 million children in the U.S. annually who are abused, neglected, exploited, abandoned, homeless, and institutionalized through no fault of their own. There are 50 million adults who, as children, experienced the same political indifference these vulnerable children in dire circumstances suffer today. I would hope that whomever Obama and McCain select as their running mates will have a heart for children, who, after all, are our country's future. Please visit www.SantasLink.net to learn more.

PART V

Keyes said: When I was first approached about this possibility, I have to say that my reaction was negative. What finally caught my eye, however, what finally arrested my but the obligation, was when I learned that (Obama) had actually, in April 2002, attention and forced me to consider whether I not only had the opportunity to oppose him, apparently cast a vote that would continue to allow live birth abortions in the state of Illinois. We are talking about a situation in which, in the course of an abortion procedure, a child has been born alive, IS OUT OF THE WOMB, breathing and living on its own, and he (OBAMA) CAST A VOTE AGAINST THE IDEA THAT WE SHOULD NOT STAND BY AND LET THAT CHILD DIE!

This was why Keyes alleged during their campaign that Jesus Christ would not vote for Barack Obama, as he explained in an interview with an NBC affiliate:

Keyes said: CHRIST WOULD NOT STAND IDLY BY WHILE AN INFANT CHILD IN THAT SITUATION DIED. . . Christ would not vote for Barack Obama, because Barack Obama has voted to behave in a way that it is inconceivable for Christ to have behaved.

Obama later admitted Keyes comment NAGGED him and has written or spoke about it several times, although he always misrepresents Keyes rationale as being about abortion support when it was specifically about infanticide support. In a July 2006 opinion piece in USA Today, restated later in The Audacity of Hope, Obama wrote:

If I am opposed to abortion for religious reasons, but seek to pass a law banning the practice, I cannot simply point to the teachings of my church. I have to explain why abortion violates some principle that is accessible to people of all faiths, including those with no faith at all.

Obamas faith has come into question on the campaign trail. Accused of being a Muslim, he has insisted that he is ROOTED in the CHRISTIAN TRADITION and has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. n fact, Obama has attended the largest church in one of Americas most stridently PRO-ABORTION denominations, the United Church of Christ, for 20 years. His church, Trinity, is located just five miles from Christ Hospital. Obamas pastor, the Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, served on the board of Christ Hospitals health care system.

It is ironic in the extreme that the most determined opponents of pre-born life, and even those who are born , embrace the name of the One who caused John the Baptist to leap in his mothers womb.

PART IV

OBAMA: Ms. Stanek, your initial testimony last year showed your DISMAY AT THE

LACK OF REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE. I agreed with you last year, and WE SUGGESTED that there be a Comfort Room or something of that nature be done. The hospital acknowledged that and changes were made and you are still unimpressed. It sounds to me like you are really not interested in how these fetuses are treated, but rather not providing absolutely any medical care or life to them.

Of course, Obama HAD NOT AGREED with me the year before, and I WAS THE ONE who had TOLD HIM ABOUT THE COMFORT ROOM, which the hospital created in response to MY testimony: We now have this prettily wallpapered room. ??? There is even a NICE WOODEN ROCKER in the room to rock live aborted babies to death.

The hospital made live birth abortions LOOK NICER, but the end result was still DEAD BABIES.

OBAMA SAID: What we are doing here is to create one more burden on women, and I can not support that, and he voted NO in committee again.

The bill went again to the Senate floor, where Obama was the SOLE SPEAKER AGAINST IT, claiming that it would impose a BURDEN on PHYSICIANS:

OBAMA: [T]his [legislation] puts the burden on the attending physician who has determined, since they are performing this procedure, that in fact, this is a nonviable fetus.

Troubled Conscience?

Democrats won control of the Illinois state Senate in November 2002, and when Born Alive was REINTRODUCED FOR THE THIRD TIME in 2003, it was directed to the Obama-chaired, infamously LIBERAL Health and Human Services Committee, where HE simply REFUSED TO CALL IT FOR A VOTE.

By this time Obama was running for U.S. Senate. He won his primary in March 2004, and Republicans recruited former U.N. Ambassador Alan Keyes, who lived in Maryland, to oppose him. It was Obamas position against Born Alive that persuaded Keyes to run, as he stated in his announcement speech:

PART III

Constitutional Blindness

A graduate of Harvard Law School, Obama TAUGHT CONSTITUTIONAL LAW at the University of Chicago for 10 years. Both schools are listed in the top 10 law schools in the country. BUT Obama revealed his CONSTITUTIONAL BLIND SPOT in his (own) book The Audacity of Hope:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created [emphasis added] equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among those are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

OBAMA: (T)he essential idea behind the Declaration ??? that we are BORN [emphasis added] into this world free, all of us; that each of us arrives with a bundle of rights that cannot be taken away by any person or any state without just cause; that through our own agency we can, and must, make of our lives what we will, is one that every American understands.

Note Obamas choice of the word BORN over the word CREATED. Perhaps that helps explain his (Obamas) support for UNRESTRICTED ABORTION. Also note that our BUNDLE OF RIGHTS can be TAKEN AWAY with JUST CAUSE.

Obama clearly considers abortion a JUST CAUSE. Here is how he argued against Born Alive during Illinois Senate debate in 2001:

OBAMA: I just want to suggest that this (legislation) is probably not going to survive constitutional scrutiny. Number one, whenever we define a pre-viable fetus as a person that is protected by the equal protection clause or the other elements in the Constitution, what we are really saying is, in fact, that they are persons that are entitled to the kinds of protections that would be provided to a - child, a 9-month-old - child that was delivered to term. That determination then, essentially, if it was accepted by a court, would forbid abortions to take place. I mean, it, it would essentially bar abortions, because the equal protection clause does not allow somebody to kill a child, and if this is a child, then this would be an anti-abortion statute. For that purpose, I think it would probably be found unconstitutional.

The legislation passed the Senate, but (it) did not survive in the House. When Rep. O'Malley reintroduced Born Alive and its companion bills in 2002, they headed again to the same committee, where Obama rewrote history:

PART II

developed by the World Health Organization in 1950 and adopted by the United Nations in 1955:

DEFINING BORN ALIVE:

The term BORN ALIVE, with respect to a member of the species homo sapiens, means the COMPLETE EXPULSION or EXTRACTION from its mother of that member, at any stage of development, who after such expulsion or extraction breathes or has a beating heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, regardless of whether the umbilical cord has been cut, and regardless of whether the expulsion or extraction occurs as a result of natural or induced labor, cesarean section, or induced abortion. I first encountered Barack Obama on March 27, 2001, when I testified before the Illinois Senate Judiciary Committee, of which he was a member. My testimony included my description of holding a premature aborted baby until he died:

One night, a nursing co-worker was taking an ABORTED DOWNS SYNDROME BABY who was BORN ALIVE TO OUR SOILED UTILITY ROOM because his parents did not want to hold him, and she did not have time to hold him. I could not bear the thought of this suffering child dying alone in a Soiled Utility Room, so I cradled and rocked him for the 45 minutes that he lived. He was 21 to 22 weeks old, weighed about ½ pound, and was about 10 inches long. He was too weak to move very much, expending any energy he had trying to breathe. Toward the end, he was so quiet that I could not tell if he was still alive unless I held him up to the light to see if his heart was still beating through his chest wall. After he was pronounced dead, we folded his little arms across his chest, wrapped him in a tiny shroud, and carried him to the hospital morgue where all of our dead patients are taken.

Obama questioned whether the BORN ALIVE legislation would impede the right to abort and doctor/patient decision-making. He and an American Civil Liberties Union attorney speculated BORN ALIVE would force doctors to resuscitate nonviable aborted babies.

Obama OPPOSED BORN ALIVE in committee, BUT voted PRESENT - neither yes nor no, but merely present - on the Illinois state Senate floor, one of MANY PRESENT VOTES that Hillary Clinton has cited as evidence that Obama lacks leadership skills. Clinton voted for the federal Born Alive bill, putting her on record as more pro-life than Obama.

It is long but worth posting, especially since NEWSWEEK chose to bury their article about Obamas not voting for this bill! Any thoughts?

Obama Blocked Born Alive Infant Protection Act

4-2-2008

by Jill Stanek

PART I

On JAN. 10, 2005, newly elected U.S. Sen. Barack Obama visited former colleagues and staffers at the Illinois state Capitol, where he had served seven years as state senator. I happened to be at the Capitol that day, too, and a friend and I took the opportunity to speak to Obama, who had not yet achieved rock-star status and was still approachable.

We were in Springfield to lobby for passage of the STATE BORN ALIVE INFANT PROTECTION ACT, legislation that would require hospitals to care for infants who survive an abortion. OBAMA SPOKE AGAINST the legislation in 2001 and 2002 and SINGLE-HANDEDLY DEFEATED IT in committee in 2003.

My friend stood in Obamas path and said, Senator, we are going to pass Born Alive here in Illinois this year. Obama smiled smoothly and agreed, I think you will, adding, I would have voted for the Born Alive Infant Protection Act in Illinois HAD IT BEEN WORDED the SAME as the Federal bill. I think that is the position the Democrats should take(, he said).

THERE IS JUST ONE THING HE FORGOT TO MENTION: Obama had STOPPED his committee from adding the Federal wording. With Obama no longer in the state Senate, the Born Alive legislation passed in 2005.

First Encounter

An Illinois lawmaker offered the FIRST DRAFT of the states BORN ALIVE INFANT PROTECTION ACT in 2001 after I revealed publicly that Christ Hospital left babies who survived abortion - viable babies whose delivery was induced, and whom the abortionist intended to kill but somehow survived - in a utility room to die.

The bill, sponsored by (Illinois) state Sen. Patrick O'Malley of Oak Lawn defined BORN ALIVE using LANGUAGE IDENTICAL TO that of FEDERAL LEGISLATION introduced in 2000 by Rep. Charles Canady, R-Fla., who in turn drafted wording

Once he left office, sure enough the bill passed. Obama has been constantly stating that the state bill did not adequately protect Roe v. Wade, when in fact it has been proven (both the state bill and the Federal bill were sought out and compared) to be EXACTLY the same for wording. He is being caught in a lie ; there is physical proof to counter his claim, and the MainStreamMedia is doing anything they can to keep this information away from the public eye or ear.
http://antiwar.com/pat/index_pat.html

John McCain's War Experience, via the Russia-Georgia SetUp, Did Not Work..At All and Neither will John McCain's attempt at the Presidency of the USA.

by Patrick J. Buchanan

The American people should be eternally grateful to Old Europe for having spiked the Bush-McCain plan to bring Georgia into NATO.

Had Georgia been in NATO when Mikheil Saakashvili invaded South Ossetia, we would be eyeball to eyeball with Russia, facing war in the Caucasus, where Moscow's superiority is as great as U.S. superiority in the Caribbean during the Cuban missile crisis.

If the Russia-Georgia war proves nothing else, it is the insanity of giving erratic hotheads in volatile nations the power to drag the United States into war.

From Harry Truman to Ronald Reagan, as Defense Secretary Robert Gates said, U.S. presidents have sought to avoid shooting wars with Russia, even when the Bear was at its most beastly.

Truman refused to use force to break Stalin's Berlin blockade. Ike refused to intervene when the Butcher of Budapest drowned the Hungarian Revolution in blood. LBJ sat impotent as Leonid Brezhnev's tanks crushed the Prague Spring. Jimmy Carter's response to Brezhnev's invasion of Afghanistan was to boycott the Moscow Olympics. When Brezhnev ordered his Warsaw satraps to crush Solidarity and shot down a South Korean airliner killing scores of U.S. citizens, including a congressman, Reagan did – nothing.

These presidents were not cowards. They simply would not go to war when no vital U.S. interest was at risk to justify a war. Yet, had George W. Bush prevailed and were Georgia in NATO, U.S. Marines could be fighting Russian troops over whose flag should fly over a province of 70,000 South Ossetians who prefer Russians to Georgians.

The arrogant folly of the architects of U.S. post-Cold War policy is today on display. By bringing three ex-Soviet republics into NATO, we have moved the U.S. red line for war from the Elbe almost to within artillery range of the old Leningrad.

Joe Biden - A risky choice. . . (obnoxious, arrogant, given to bursts of craziness; not to mention he does not represent CHANGE in Washington that Obama toots to the young ones); BUT Obama may be that desperate enough to take the chance to vote for Biden and put him on the ticket given he has David Axelrod to work his magic on this VP choice right up until the GE in Nov.

Tim Kaine - Too inexperienced.

Katheleen Sebelius - Also not as well experienced as Obama needs in the areas he lacks; and to add to that, that choice may p*ss off some of Hillary supporters.

Evan Bayh - OMG, too much of a softie; almost as soft as Obama. Cant picture this guy (nevermind Obama) talking to leaders if he had to go head-to-head against world leaders.

Hillary Clinton - A sure win if she was on the ticket, even from an Obama-doubter like me. But most likely Obamas ego would not condone this pick (and having to deal with Bill at breakfast does not help).

Sam Nunn - He would be my pick, if Obama has any sense. Much experience in the areas Obama is weak in.

Al Gore? - Aint gonna happen. But who really knows.

John Kerry? - You are kidding me here, right?

The short list includes John S. Lamb a former White House Gardner and Nancy Sweet a former security guard at the Capitol Buiding. Although these two would over shadow Senator Obama with experince he makes up for that with his superior public speaking ability. He has removed a very popular DC bus driver from the short list due to an award he recieved 30 years ago in High School for debate club. Most believe Sen. Obama was concerned about being seen as less qualified than his VP. Many in the McCain camp believe he will choose his long time friend Nurse Ratchet. Thinking is she will be able to give aid and comfort to him as he contunes to shoot himself in the foot nearly everyday. She is also rumored to cook a great pot roast.

Same goes for Joe Lieberman. There may be a dark horse candidate like Mike Chickadee or Bobby Jamal waiting on the line. Than again, McCain will be safe to pick Romney.

No matter who Obama picks, he must consider a VP candidate who has a broader Foreign policy experience and do well among the women and blue color workers in the industrial States. The prediction that the pundits are making is Joe Biden. He is a good pick but is Obama going to be safe because Senator Biden’s tendency to talk little too much that will be worrisome. I still think considering the women and blue color votes, Obama should pick Hillary to be safe giving victory for the Democrats in November. I will still pick Hillary Clinton over Joe Biden or Evan Byah.

In a perfect world Sen. Webb wouldn't have taken his name off the table, but he did, and that narrows things down quiet a bit. picking Sen. Clinton would be committing suicide. women voters are already leaning twords Obama.

McCain/Lieberman- The two are basically attached at the hip now and Lieberman attracts moderates who won't vote for Obama. Romney wanted to double Gitmo, which doesn't fall in with McCains aversion to "advanced interrogation techniques."

Obama/Kaine - Something Tim Kaine said recently rings a bit true in my mind. He said that there are roads that Obama can take to win the presidency without Virginia's electoral votes -- but that he (Kaine) doesn't see any road that McCain can take to win without Virginia. All of the Electoral vote maps I look at seem to confirm this. More importantly, the Obama campaign is clearly placing an enormous and unprecedented focus on Virginia. Obama is touring Virginia for two straight days in the week prior to the convention -- there's no reason to think that he won't give Virginia the same type of representation on the convention floor. Besides, Kaine is the only one of the top three candidates who initially opposed the war in Iraq. Biden has the foreign policy chops, but a high-ranking Cabinet position will be just as helpful in that area as VP, if not more so.

McCain/Crist - This will be the surprise pick. This election, the Republicans are in danger of losing Florida, that most important of swing states. Charlie Crist has a reputation as a moderate, which seemingly allows him to switch positions with the same ease that John McCain does. He's been more visible on the campaign trail with McCain than almost anyone, possibly even Lieberman. And let's not forget that if it wasn't for Crist's last-minute endorsement in the Florida primary, We would very probably be trying to guess the running mate for Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee.

Obama- Kaine

and

McCain- Pawlenty

Obama has a few good choices, but my favorite is Kaine. I think a pro-life running mate would actually help the ticket too.

I was hoping that McCain would choose Sarah Paulin, but that doesn't seem likely since Alaska isn't a battle ground state.

mccain: charlie christ or romney. he cant look like "on golden pond" with leiberman. he will surely not pick anyone who might appear to less "american" than obama, like the gov of louisiana.

the sad thing is that after eight years, people who are struggling are thinking about the same stupid stuff that bush sold them on for the last two election cycles. if mccain wins, i'll be okay but i bet all those "middle americans" who feel like the republicans need another 4 yrs to try to get it right will probably be in bankruptcy. everyone should be voting democratic just to teach the republicans a lessen that they cant take their votes for granted and make corporations richer and then hypnotize "middle americans" to think about other stuff (like whether the candidate is a muslim or wears a flag pin) other than how broke they are today as compared to eight years ago.

by the way, i know few people who walk around with any stinkin' flag pin on. does that mean that we are all non-patriots?????

OBAMAS GOT QUITE AN EGO. I DOUBT HE WOULD ALLOW HIMSELF TO PICK A HILARY WHO HAS THE ABILITY TO DRAW AS MANY VOTES AS HE DOES. HE WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF SELF CONFIDENCE AND PUT HIS EGO TO REST.

I am a crack dealer in Beaumont, Texas who has recently been

diagnosed as a carrier of HIV virus. My parents live in Fort Worth.

One of my sisters lives in Pflugerville and is married to a

transvestite. My father and mother have recently been arrested for

growing and selling marijuana. They are financially dependent on my

other two sisters, who are prostitutes in Dallas.

I have two brothers: one is currently serving a life sentence at

Huntsville for the murder of a teenage boy in 1994. My other brother is

currently in jail awaiting charges of sexual misconduct with his three

children. I have recently become engaged to marry a former prostitute

who lives in Longview. She is a part time (working girl).

All things considered, my problem is this. I love my fiancee and look

forward to bringing her into the family. I certainly want to be totally

open and honest with her.

Should I tell her about my cousin who supports Barack Obama for

President?

Signed, Rashime

Worried About My Reputation

We need CHANGE, but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater! Just because he's been in the Senate for 36 years doesn't mean he couldn't or wouldn't be instrumental in implementing Obama's new approaches to governing.

Tom Ridge for McCain: to shore up his PA chances after Obama chooses Biden. MCCain's not concerned about losing the religious zealots, because he figures they'll never vote for Obama anyway. McCain is emotional and wants a pal in there with him; not someone like Romney, who he doesn't like and of whom he's jealous.

Take all these away and what do we have? Well, a first term senator, who made a big anti-war speech and nothing much else to show for it, a war which most rational people all over the rest of the world including the UN were against anyway. He is just a queue jumper.

Should he be elected he would go down in history as the most divisive president in US history. He is already creating doubts amongst the blacks because they gave him overwhelming support and he wants to do away with affirmative action. Now under pressure he is singing another tune. Very soon the whites will feel disillusion with him because they were promise a president for all Americans. So every way he loses.

He sees the world in black and white but there is grey and lots of it. This is something he cannot handle when it is not black, white or even brown or yellow. So he goes flip-flopping along.
