Carville's wife is her own person she can do what the hell she pleases. Carville is her husband no her master.

Before Alter starts talking about contradictions in carville's life he better starts examining the contradictions in his own life. Alter is supposed to be a journalist but he would fool anyone with an IQ below 10 that he wasn't an Obama spokesperson.

I agree with your assessment of Carville and Matalin. James Carville is so offensive, I can't watch CNN anymore. But, I must confess that CNN isbecoming more irrelevant in general as far as covering politics. I find it very disturbing that CNN attempts to out-Fox, Fox news. CNN has destroyed their credibility, in my opinion, because of their obvious anti- Obama slant. It is obvious and can be documented. This is not a subjective opinion of mine, but a very open, very heavy-handed effort. Carville has found his "theme" in his homebase at CNN. Very sad that a worldwide, respected TV News Network would sink to being a Fox News wannabe! I no longer watch them. I've spent more time with C-span this year then ever before. Between that and the internet, I am getting more news, faster then I ever have in the past. CNN reporters insult my intelligence with their line of questioning, dwelling on "issues" long past their expiration date, and I do not need anyone to tell me what a politician "meant" I don't need an interpreter. I look forward, in particular to the day when James Carville, and his handler, Wolf Blitzer are gone from CNN. I think Lou Dobbs would be more comfortable at Fox, too. There are only four people on CNN worth watching:Anderson Cooper, Jack Cafferty,David Gergen, and Carl Bernstein. P.S. Gloria Borger is a disaster! What an unattractive personality.

In other words, if you still doubt the "second comingness" of Obama and you're married to a Republican whose activities are much less venal than Move-On, you're finished if there is an Obama win. I guess, particularly if Obama moves against free speech as he has done with his running to the justice department about commercials, etc. By the way, on the "swift-boating" of John Kerry - talk to almost anyone who knew him in Viet Nam - his carefully manicured, his talk of politics, his use of his camera to aggrandize his activities for future political purposes, his sell-out of his fellow soldiers when he returned home (Ghengis Khan, etc.) - John Kerry swift-boated himself.

Where is Vicki Iseman? Why did that story die out so quickly? There had to be something to it...McCain's own advisors were trying to keep them apart. Doesn't make any sense that nobody has seen or heard from this woman since that story broke...is she in the Carribbean with Edwards' mistress? Where is she? Why hasn't ANYONE interviewed her? Doesn't make any sense that McCain got a free pass on that. Why does McCain get such favored philanderer status?

Good article about that NUT carville, Why give him any air time to voice his mess. So out of touch with the party he claims to be for? The Clinton's move on and what up with the rest these brain dead folks. They are for every DEM except Barack. The truth is they are racist and we can see them in their scheme.

I am surprised that James Carville could be married to a lying, piece of garbage like Mary Matalin. When a person engages in outright lies, I lose all respect for them. Their credibility is nil. To be married to a liar whose is unattractive as well must be tortuous.

There are a lot of excellent comments on this blog. I am very surprised that anyone takes heed of what Carville says, assuming they can understand him! CNN used to be quite good, reasonably fair with their reporting. Now, as someone mentioned, they are trying to compete with Fox, so have had to resort to lies and spins, like Fox. Lou Dobbs also used to give reasonable commentary, but now is nothing but a blowhard. It's a shame that one switches from news channel to news channel, only to find garbage on all of them. Most of the so-called 'talking heads' have their own agendas, and have no more knowledge of the issues than we do, In my opinion, the only channel remaining that just reports the news and lets the viewer decide is the BBC. They have had a few issues over the years, but are still maintaining some semblence of decency and honesty.

Alter says that "Unfit For Command" was filled with a fusilade of falsehoods. The authors of that book along with T Boone Pickens offered John Kerry $1M if he could find one falsehood in their adds, offered to pay his court costs if he sued them, and allowed him to sue past the time of the expiration of the rights to sue. Kerry promised to sue and to point out all of the errors - then did nothing. If Alter knows of falsehoods in the book, what are they? Maybe he can pass the information on to Kerry.

I'm with you Alter. How Carville's wife can have her imprint on a book that is nothing but lies and exaggerations and unproven "facts" is beyond me. As for Carville, I hope he's ready to trash the Republican convention on their first night on national television as penance for his remarks. Personally, I loved the convention and thought that if Carville and some other pundits had listened to the speakers instead of trashing the convention while they spoke they may have heard what they wanted to hear.

Having said that, perhaps with the reported regrouping of the "Singing Senators" on the Republican's first night we Democrats will really have to eat crow...

I too have switched off CNN for PBS (while TiVo-ing NBC's actually quite excellent one hour coverage for highlight reviewing) in disgust over their pompous intrusive punditry that seem to think that viewers would prefer to watch them talk endlessly about the same tired spin instead of actually watching the convention they are supposed to be covering! Well, they are certainly covering it, covering it up that is! I haven't watched CNN since the first night of the convention, when they proclaimed the evening a failure, even though they had spoken (with their backs to the stage) over virtually every single speaker! James Carville's mean spirited bitterness was starkly contrasted to former Hillary town crier Terry McCauliffe, who was both gracious and overtly supportive to Obama when interviewed on NBC post Hillary's speech. There's an individual who believes in the Democrats as a PARTY, rather than a single individual and their ego. The Carville/Matalin roadshow deserves to be derailed for good - they are two mean spirited, stop at nothing egomaniacs who bring nothing worthwhile to the contemporary political scene.

Mr. Alter, I realize that freedom of thought enrages you and other Obama supporters but some of us still believe in it. So what if James Carville voices his opinion. If Obama wins I'm sure Mr. Carville will be gone. Mr. Obama never seems to forget a slight. So relax. Go teach kindergarten if you have to impose your will on someone. But leave the Clinton fans the hell alone.

Carville's behavior during this entire process has been abhorrent. If someone in the Democratic party had pulled what Carville pulled during the convention when Bill Clinton was the nominee, Carville and Begala would have been furious. This isn't the first time that Carville has put the political ambitions of he and his friends above his party. The good news is that is being exposed for the slug he is.
