And the issue is not how Palin raised her family (not that well) but how she served as Governor. She seems to have done a pretty good job as Governor of AK with the possible exception of this troopergate issue. But to be fair, no one has heard her side of the story.

If we give her a pass on the trooper issue, then we move on to ask how long she has been governor of AK and the answer is two years. Clearly she is inexperienced for the job of vp just like someone else named Obama is inexperienced for the job of p.

As a conservative Republican I can see that Sarah Palin has a lot of potential and she just may end up to be our President one day but I don't like the idea of affirmative action. All I can really see in McCain's choice of Palin is affirmative action or diversity. I would have liked to see McCain choose someone who had better qualifications for the job like Romney.

But the damage is done and I guess we are stuck with her. Unless she has the good grace to bow out if she knows she was wrong on the troopergate issue. Her family is less important to us but really it should be more important to her. How can any woman be a governor and raise a family of five at the same time? Unless she is supermom, she can't do justice to both jobs. Raising a family is a very demanding job.

All I can say at this point is that it is better to have an inexperience vp nominee than an inexperienced p nominee. So, I will continue to support the McCain ticket. But McCain's handling of this vp selection does not augur well for his Presidency. However, the alternative, Obama, is a whole lot worse than McCain & Sarah Palin!

Given the state of our environment these days I think it is evermore important for us, as consumers to support 'green businesses' that benefit the environment. For example, http://www.simplestop.net stops your postal junk mail and benefits the environment.

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden’s.

She’s also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security’s counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country’s defense. Given Alaska’s proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don’t even know about.

According to this worthless newspaper, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets. She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

In other words, her security clearance and experience in these matters exceeds Biden’s, who parades himself as a "National Security Expert”. Of course, this by far surpasses Obama, who can only find out about National Security matters by watching CNN and/or by Googling the pertinent terms on his laptop.

Obama skipped three meetings held by the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee (with NATO oversight) on Afghanistan. His own committee deals with our Atlantic allies, and he admitted he was too busy running for President to hold a meeting. That is the sum of his foreign experience, and he is the top of the Democratic ticket.

I love how now CINC of the National Guard in Alaska is ridiculous. All of this is based on the premise that John McCain, who has released a 1000 page medical report, is going to kick the bucket while in office. Sarah Palin also worked out a trade deal with Canada for the $26 billion natural gas pipeline that brings our country closer to energy independence. That was a pretty big deal.

This is the greatest country on the planet earth. Our politics have evolved into two major parties selecting nominees to battle each in a November election. At this level nobody is stupid. In fact they are all smart and accomplished. They just stand for different values and policies. Alliances and coalitions will form. Big money and big organizations will join in for this test of strength to select a president and vice president that will lead the most powerful nation on earth, the United States of America.

Each can expect to stand a vigorous review of who and what they are with unkind words being exchanged. That is the process. Lets keep the families out of it and focus on the candidates. As the New Orleans emergency fades and the Republican Convention takes center stage I will be listening.

Others will have not so nice things to say about Obama and Biden. I do not think well of the histories as I currently know them of McCain and Pailn. Nothing personal, it’s the process. We are not just electing individuals. We are giving control of this country to coalitions that succeed in electing their candidate.

America cannot allow the coalition of McCain and Pailn, the same one that put George Bush in the presidency, to succeed. Those who do not support McCain and Pailn must recognize who the real enemy is.

Its big money, the NRA and Evangelicals.

In these uncertain times following 8 years of gross mismanagement by Bush/Cheney, Palin and McCain must be rejected if the United States of America is to retain its economic strength, and its self-respect in the world at large.

McCain and company completely knew of the situation, it was just a matter of timing. Fortunately, rabid bloggers from the left provided the perfect scenario to reveal the truth, with the absolutely ludicrous proposition that Palin faked her pregnancy! (Haw-haw!)

The neat thing about this choice is that it allows both sides to focus on THE ISSUES and THE DIFFERENCES. Does each side have a historically significant candidate? Yes. Does each side have an old white guy? Yes. Does each side have an inspiring political neophyte? Yes.

So now, it's just a matter of whether you want the country to spiral into enforced socialism and global mootness in the world's political stage, or whether you want a decision maker who will defend America and her interests with more than empty, politically expedient promises. For all Obama has promised, he has yet to say how he will finance it, except for taxing the "Evil Rich."

Of course, we all know that when liberals grow up and become socially responsible, they usually become pro family-values conservatives. So ironically, Obama will be taxing the crap out of many of his supporters, because when they start making decent money, they will BECOME the evil rich! Unless, of course, his pro-socialist values completely discourage innovation and hard work. Which is entirely probable.

This is not an attack on the Palin girl (I agree that families are off limits), this is a reflection on the "conservative" spin...

How in the world does having unprotected, premarital sex reflect "family values"?!? And why does she get brownie points for avoiding an immoral act (abortion) after committing an immoral act (premarital sex)? It would be like telling a judge, "Well, I didn't kill the guy after I stole his car," as if that's a defense. If you subscribe to any of the Abrahamic religions, then abusing the procreative power is a sin. What more, it's a sin worse than any save murder and denial of the Holy Ghost. It's wonderful that this family is sticking together, I just can't for the life of me figure out why the right wing is presenting this as an ideal situation.

Which brings us to the actual politics. Rather than reflecting on the Palin girl or even the nominee herself, this whole situation reflects horrendously on John McCain. In his first major executive decision, he chose an untested woman in the midst of a family crisis and thrust her on to an international stage. It was John McCain, apparently knowing that this girl was pregnant, who chose to send this family all across the United States. It was John McCain who saw his campaign for President as more important than the personal lives of children. It was John McCain who chose a VP who will be required to be both physically and emotionally distant from either her job as Vice President or her family. I agree that it's a private concern, but it was John McCain who made it a public (rather than a family) crisis. As a parent myself, I simply can't imagine putting anything above the needs of my children, especially something as time consuming as a national political campaign. That is horrifying in it's arrogant incompetence.

When it's just 2 weeks before the election, Palin's issues will be so severe that she'll be asked to resign from the ticket, and McCain can appoint his real choice, Joe Lieberman. McCain really likes Lieberman, as Joe has a way of correcting McCain so that McCain doesn't feel like a dope.
It's more obvious now, than it was when she was designated by McCain, that this woman has no clue about how to administer ANYTHING, let alone the national government.

I too do not understand how family values supporters can condone the family values of John McCain or Sarah Palin. McCain married a model and traded her in for a filthy rich beauty queen who could pay off his first wife, save him from a boring military career and finance his presidential nomination, plus give his son a high paying job in the family brewery business. McCain lied to his wife and to Cindy who was only 24 and beautiful. Now he nominates a gun-totin, sno-mobilen, animal stuffin, career woman with an unemployed house husband, one young daughter, a pregnant daughter, another teenage daughter and a Down's child.

I am a strong family values person who worker her way though college, created 25 high tech US jobs as an entrepreneur, raised 3 successful children and stay married for 37 years to the same man. I believe my family values are closer to Obama/Biden than to McCain Palin. This even surprises me because I am a sixty year old white female Republican. I am crossing over to vote for Obama. He worked hard and did not trade in a wife to buy his way up.

Even thought I decidedly lean "left", I read the right wing (Republican) sites often, just to keep my finger on the pulse of what they are up to. After Obama's speech Thursday evening, I logged in on Friday to see what they were up to. While I fully expected them to be denigrating Obama and just about every other speak who was there (which they did), I did NOT expect them to be lashing out at what I thought was a beautiful, clean-cut, all-American audience. The posters on these right wing sites were calling them "creeps: and "creepzoids" and several made the comment that they wished someone had been there with an AK-47 to take about 20,000 of these "despicable people" out once and for all.

For this reason, Sarah Palin's situation needs to be discussed.

I do agree with one part of your statement that she is one hell of a person to be doing what she is doing right now. Being a mother of the 21st century has become more difficult than most jobs in the world. A lot of single mothers are out there with more than one child accomplishing the impossible feats of a super mom. I believe Sarah Palin is one of them. If she had refused the offer of the position or quits now what kind of message does it send to all the working mothers out there? I believe she is a mom who understands the problems with raising kids in the 21st century and the juggling act between maintaining a professional life and family life. I cant think of working mom out there who doesn't contnously think about their kids while they are at work. Parents are working so that they can provide better lives for the future of their kids. I think this is the character who Ssrah Palin represents and she shares that with so many young/middle aged working moms.

More qualified women would not want to be McCain's soul mate and beauty queen for a day.

Actually, I may be qualifed to be VP - I was prez of civic association, soccer mom, league coach, parent of 3 upstanding successful young adult children, successful business woman entrepreneur, internationally well-travelled, created 25 high tech US jobs, lost 130 pounds, exercise and health proponent, sixty year old white female. Would you vote for me? I hope not. There are better men, and better women than Sarah Palin. And my family values do not allow me to be McCain's running mate as he finds it difficult not to fawn over younger beautiful women with comely legs. I am younger than he is and my legs are not bad.

The N.Y. Times also said on Morning Joe today that there were many indications in Minnesota that Tim Pawlenty was being vetted yet there were none on Alaska.

That just doesn't wash that Minnesota had numerous people and orgs asked but Alaska had none.

What we are seeing here is that McCain is in the C.Y.A. mode to try to cover his very poor and hasty and I think very mad because he could NOT have Lieberman decision.

Are you getting this.

He was told by the evangelical right what to do here.

I do NOT want them controlling McCain in the White House.

Question 2) Do you think that if your daughter had access to birth control pills, condoms, etc. that perhaps this tragedy would not have occurred? I realize that you opposed sex eduction in schools but did you really think abstinance would work? Or, sort of my opinion, did your daughter WANT to get pregnant?

McCain's ability to make a game changing brilliant appointment is a credit to his ability to make quick decisions. CNN and FOX are both embarrasingly partisan and biased. If journalists were more like John McCain, Joe Lieberman and Jim Leach (the Republican who supported Obama) the bitter partisanship in this country might subside.

Particularly, considering the democrats have really focused on getting the young to vote. Are you saying that the young of our nation shouldn't have an opinion. At least this young man has obviously thought through the qualifications and character that makes a good leader. I doubt the left has considered this as closely.

November can't come fast enough.

?

Yesterday, I asked a self-proclaimed 'yellow dog Democrat' her opinion of Palin. The Dem replied she couldn't be happier. As a self-proclaimed staunch Republican, I agree. I couldn't be happier.

Palin is real; Obama is not. Obama is an opportunist who is seeking the highest office in the U.S. because he is presumed black. He can't help who is father is, but it doesn't change the fact that Obama is a radical Muslim seeking to allow Islamic control of the U.S.

Sarah Palin has successfully taken on more responsibilities in any capacity than has Obama. And she isn't even running for President! I applaud her accomplishments and willingness to take on Washington to do what is right instead of buckling under to the same old, same old.

If Obama is elected, break out the Arabic language books, people! Because you'll be speaking it or be slaughtered in one of their jihad-style raids.

But then of course, if the country survives four years of Obama, at least then lazy blacks, whites, Latinos, and others will have no more excuses for their own plight. They'll see that the great black savior was just a farce.

A vote for Obama is a vote for change all right ... a change to socialism.

This is not a case of the teenage daughter, but lapses in judgment, by the parents. Where were Todd and Sarah Palin?

The pregnancy is clearly, a mirror of the family. It reads out loud the troubles in their closet. If she can't manage her family, then, she is not fit to rule.

Did you notice Bristol shielding her belly with the new born child? This was well orchestrated by the GOP. There are better women GOP choices across many Walmarts and KMarts. Sarah comes across like a Hooters waitress.

Let's do it !!!

Also, why do all the Conservative views towards Obama go to inherent racism and inaccurate Religious quips? Weren't the same people calling him a Muslim Jihadist calling him a Racist Christian when Reverend Wright was firing off zingers against certain parties?
