The McCain camp is trying to blur the line between the Obama camp's legitimate, non-sexist points about Palin's lack of experience and the well-publicized sexist attacks and rumors made outside of Obama's campaign, which Obama has denounced. I think the hope is that people who have heard the baby rumors and sexist questions from the press regarding Palin's ability to juggle work and family will accept the suggestion that the Obama camp is behind all the sexism. In reality, if Obama's campaign had actually said anything sexist, Carly Fiorina would have pointed it out explicitly instead of making this vague accusation that to "belittle Governor Sarah Pallin's experience" somehow equals sexism.

Also, could they please, please stop evoking Hillary Clinton's name?

Why is it that the democrats words are taken out of context and used to scream "sexism" Yet every republic pundit and advisor on T.V. keeps saying how "attractive" she is. Aren't they being "sexist"?? Also, everyone is saying how the dems have to tiptoe around her, "can't be too tough on her" etc., etc, etc, ---yet isn't this "sexist" because we can't treat her like the "boys" because she's a "woman"?? She puts Alaska first. There's an endorsement to remember. And in case we think her past association in this party was just some youthful indiscretion, she addressed them by video hookup earlier this year. In the video shown above Palin says she is "delighted" to be addressing the group, that the party "plays an important role," and wishes them "good luck on a successful and inspiring convention."

The Alaska Independence Party wants to open all Federal lands (like state parks) to private ownership - presumably by the people who live nearby. It also wants to abolish all property taxes. It has a few other pretty extreme views, too.

Experience is not the issue: look up an article by Phil Vogel

called A Critical Examination Of the Experience Question. Actually

written earlier in Aug before the announcement of Palin.

But the real issue is where she "stands" on issues, if we'll ever

know, any more than we know about McCain (He wants to bomb Iran and

has windmills in his ads although he's never supported bills

dealing with alternative energy and continue Bush tax cuts for the

Notice the Repubs haven't talked much about the economy at the

Within the first five minutes after the announcement of Governor Palin as Senator McCain's VP pick, the speculation about how careful Senator Biden would have to be during the debate with her began. In the perfect-world fantasy-land that I live in, I trust that the candidates in all of the debates will come armed with their best strengths, their sincerest passions, their most thoughtful wisdom, and their utmost respect for the American public and each other. I believe all reproductive organs should be left at the door - figuratively speaking, of course.

Women only achieve the goal, but not the equality, if, when they get there, they still express the need (intentionally or unintentionally) to be treated differently.

This experience that the McCain campaign is bragging about with Palin need a little more light shed on it. She was the Mayor of a town that had about 7000 people in it, give or take a few. She got less than 1000 votes to give her the victory that made her the mayor. That tells you that not many people in the town even bothered to vote. Now McCain says she is the Governor of our largest state, true enough but only geographically. There are about 600,000 people in the whole state, so it is our least humanly populated state. Some Mayors in our major cities over-see more people than that. The Republican party and FOX NEWS in particular have analyzed and scrutinized every breath the Obama's have ever taken and claimed that the people hade a right to know who these people are. Now McCain throws Palin at us and says she is the next VP of the United States and we better not dare ask any questions about her. HYPOCRISY,plain and simple.

It is totally unfair to suggest that Sen. McCain selected Gov. Palin because she was a woman. In fact Sen. McCain didn't know Gov. Palin was a woman until he met her last Friday. He picked her because she was the most qualified president in waiting that he could find at that moment. He had some others in mind but he forgot their names before the press conference so Palin was it. Makes you wonder if Sen. McCain will still remember her name after the convention. Oh, I forgot he keeps Joe Lieberman around to remind him of such things.

I do agree that questions about how she'll handle her mother role and be VP are sexist. But questioning her experieince and credentials are certainly not. That CNN interview McCain is up in arms about was excellent. Campbell wasn't letter Tucker get away with his usual double-talk

Actually, I'm beginning to think Palin is providing a nice foil for McCain. We're all so distracted by her and her lack of experience that we've forgotten about the issues. Of course, McCain doesn't want us to talk about the issues. That's what those celebrity ads and moses ads are all about. If we talk about the issues, he loses.

I've seen the argument on several sites about Obama not being vetted. This must be one of the McCain talking points. Presidential candidates are vetted by the voters during the primary process. Their selection as a candidate is by millions of Americans. The selection of a VP is by one person. And in McCain's case it's been a very poor decision.

All of those people you saw at the DNC convention, that was all FX. As I said, Republicans are professional spinners. Palin now, it turns out, is MORE experience than Biden, McCain and Obama combined. Yea, McCain also because he was only a pilot then WASTED his years in the Senate instead of being a governor or mayor according to the spin doctors. That's a GREAT spin for a small town mayor and governor with less than 2 years in office. If they say it enough, some MIGHT believe it. They certainly HAVE to convince their party to believe it or they are washed up.

If the Republican succeed in twisting enough people to their way of thinking, the spin doctors will be able to write their own tickets.

Palin is a VP candidate not a man or woman. Let the punches fly. Obama WAS selected,... by the people and won, even if he won by ONE vote.

There is no reason to attack Palin's daughter unless you are trying to make the evangelicals question the Republican party. That won't work because teenage pregnancy is a far second to pro-life.

Between the earmarks for Alaska that McCain said she didn't have, the tax evasion issue for the Palins, the abuse of positional power out of anger, and being a speaker at a AIP convention where her husband is a member,. there is enough meat on that bone to leave the pregnancy snack alone.

Before you use Rev Wright AGAIN, let's finish the quote he used in that ONE infamoous sermon he said, "Not *** Bless America, *** **** America for treating its citizens as less then human." As I've read black churches have been speaking of injustice in society for some time and were invisible until now. Talk about bad timing. The point is that it was not a Anti American statement, it was a sign of frustration that unless we've experienced it we cannot know it.

I was never a POW but I know it wasn't a cake walk, even if they gave you preferential treatment because they used you to convince the other prisoners to confess (I'm not saying that is what happened only that I don't know). They are not releasing the report on his captivity to the public, so I have to be spoon fed what happened. This is a spin doctor's dream come true.

After 9/11, The America's chicken is coming home to roost comment was NOT Rev. Wright's, as he said, he ONLY QUOTED the ambassidor of Iraq. He used THAT to preface the next quote he used in the bible that said "Be not deceived, *** is not mocked, for whatsoever you sew that you also shall reap"

He continued to say that Jesus said "Do unto to others as you would have them do unto you". He continued saying "You cannot do terrorism on other people and expect it never to come back on you." It can be interpreted either way depending on the point you are trying to make. If YOU believe that the US was acting as a terrorist organization then you believe also that Wright is a racist, other wise he was talking about Iraq. But it goes to show you what happens when you only get half the story.

I know know this doesn't matter to you because you NEED Obama to be some sort of anti Christ, secret Muslim or you would have nothing else to say. I'm sure based on your blogs you have something against especially African American men or at least their struggle for equality in America. You have not mentioned any other ethnic group as of yet.

EVERYONE in Washington right now has a bad rating because of Bush's decision to go to war, or was is Cheney's , or was it McCain's. I loved the way Bush took credit for the surge idea, then McCain took credit for the same idea. So McCain has to also take credit for the state of the economy and the war in Iraq.

You can't take credit for only the good ideas and leave the bad on Bush's doorstep, or according to Fred Thompson the actor, on the Democrats doorstep..There was so much garbage coming out of his mouth he had to clear his throat close to 70 times.to get through his LINES.

Obama wants to raise taxes...result...costs will be added to consumer goods...companies will find it difficult to create jobs, he wants people to carry tire gauges to make sure their tires are inflated as an approach to energy independence , he's the only one that voted against the protection of an infant born alive at abortion, his claim to fame he was a "community organizer", he doesn't want people to use his middle name 'Hussein'..must be ashamed that he's Muslim, Obama's campaign subjected Hillary Clinton to sexism and all other sorts of garbage...so much for Obama's position for a "new politics" and "change"...gee sounds like Obama is more of the same and his VP running mate Senator Joe Biden (an old Washington insider) even says Obama is not qualified and ready for President...how screwed up is that !!

Yeah right! Working people will have such a hard time with rich people having to pay their fair share that they will probably just vote Republican just so we can give the wealthy a break on their taxes!

That argument was tried already and failed. Giving wealthy people a break on their taxes just inflates their bank accounts. Giving the middle class a break on their taxes, puts money into the economy for work done. It is the middle class that boosts the economy.

I'll take Obama's tax plan over the Republicans any day. McCain's tax breaks are not for "WE the working people". When McCain says "WE" or "US", he means the people who have more than $5 million in income; not the middle class. He's talking about the country club elite.

What Metz doesnt bother to mention of course,is that the tax structure on ''the rich''under Clinton was at just under 36% of total marginal taxes. Now,it is 35.5% .So much for those great tax breaks for ''the rich''eh? Clinton was giving these guys as much of a break as was Bush. Indeed,the ''rich''are paying the highest ''fair share''in American history in this era. And fewer people in the lower end are paying taxes than they were in 1994. But why confuse the ideologues with the facts? Go here instead.
