The Rupublicant's had the last 8 years to prove themselves... and the fact that their party and their #1&#2 Bush/Cheney got us into the mess in iraq when we shouldnt have been there in the first place says tons about their leadership, judgement and dishonesty in our country..

If it was country first than we should have never been sold that iraq attacked us and we would never have had our sons, daughters, fathers and mothers dying over there..

If it was country first than we would have taken care of our people when Katrina destroyed New Orleans.

"Heck of a job Brownie.." "Mission Accomplished.."

Yeah if it only was country first... .

Too bad none of the neocon, conservative pea brains will own up how much they screwed this country. If it was country first... they take themselves out of the drivers seat and let someone who can drive take the wheel.

I was convinced Lieberman was the best VP choice for McCain until I watched that speech tonight. The crowd could hardly have been less impressed in spite of the political risks Lieberman took to be there. The republicans apparently aren't interested in bipartisanship or getting along. They are just interested in bludgeoning their political opponents, even the democrats that side with them. Their "golf claps" for Lieberman proved as much.

This republican is voting Obama.

Joe Lieberman gave such a meager speech last night because as usual he is trying to play both sides of the fiddle. He did not want to completely burn his democratic bridges but he wanted to be accepted in the republican arena. Hypocrisy is the name of the game with the GOP and John McCain. Sen. Obama has been right on the Iraq war, about sending more troops to Afghanistan, about speaking with Iran and about the time line for withdrawal. He has should excellent judgement in his VP choice and a true willingness to bring all americans together for the greater good of our country. McCain and the republicans are continuing their divisive last ditch effert to remain in control no matter the cost to the country that they claim to love. It think they only care about the republican part of the country and the rest of us are on our own. Obama is ready to lead us to a more unified nation.

So, maybe the reason the dems have let Lieberman run this game is because they know every democrat and independent will see right through him, and in the end, he's really more a liability to the repubs. My favorite line of the evening was about how Democrats want to raise taxes, but not on your family, only on businesses. Democrats say their tax increase won't effect your family at all.......as long as you don't buy anything like food, clothes, or gasoline....from a business....and as long as your paycheck doesn't come from a business, large or small.....then it won't effect your family at all.

The desperation coming out of the media and the Democrats today couldn't be more obvious. After all, Democrats had difficulty finding a pastor to give the opening prayer at their convention, because very few pastors wanted to be seen at the Democratic Convention. Mean while, Democratic leaders show up at the Republican Convention endorcing the Republican canidate. What a contrast!

Another good laugh came listening to CNN talk about how they are fair and balanced......while presenting a dozen people representing the Democrats in their coverage to one Republican. That sounded like something you would see on Leno...lol

It is really tiresome to continously hear people bring up abortion rights. The Supreme Court consistently holds in favor of abortion rights because of the Constitutional right to privacy and similar personal rights. It has nothing to do with abortion itself. It has nothing to do with dead babies and other emotionally blackmailing phrase turning. It is the basic stance that someone else can not interfere with your person...this includes lawmakers, doctors, preachers, abortionists and everyone else involved within the debate. This is why the decision has not been overturned to any significant degree in all these years regardless of the fact that Roe admitted that she lied about the events at the amusement park and the sexual conduct that took place.

When you say that you want people to not be able to have abortions, it is understandable what you are saying when it is a moral belief you hold. More power to you, feel free to discuss and create forums and discussion and even do some volunteer work at Planned Parenthood or some similar place. But for Pete's sake...can you please stop endorsing a concept that violates one of the fundamental rights of an American citizen. It is the right of privacy, it is the right to self protection, it is the right of liberty.

And yes, you can make the argument that abortion is bad and used as birth control instead of the emergency proceedure some would like it to be. Once you say that as a person, you do not have the right to make a choice about your body anymore, then it leaves open avenues for other manipulations. As it stands, you have the right to not like it, not endorse it, not allow it to be practiced on yourself. That should be enough. To want to decide what private decision a person makes about their own person is at best hubris.

If you would take the time to actually read about the issues that concern you, then it may prove to be enlightening. Abortion is not a right, privacy and personal pursuits are. Besides, the genie is out of the bottle. Even if this weird little control freak fantasy of laws that decide if you can do something to your body or not, in this case abort a pregnancy...even it became clearly and completely illegal tomorrow, it would still be practiced everywhere. All you have done is given yourself a shadow authority that allows you to feel right when wake up in the morning crying for all those lost souls...which I am sure you do since you are a compassionate person, caring so much about the fate of others lives, bodies and immortal souls that you want to make laws to ensure they live as you believe.

Because, Jorge, purposefully inviting specific ethnic groups to speak for the sake of appearance would be racist.

However, I may be being too literal with what you wrote. You seemed concerned that the ethnic groups you mentioned are being negelected by the Republican Party. At best, I am just assuming you are kidding around to make your point. And again, I am assuming your point is that you do not feel represented as an ethnic minority by this party at the present time and instead of saying that you extend the issue to all people of color regardless of the fact that the Republican Party is as diverse as any other.

If you are sincerely looking for answers, you should try your local chapter of Republican Hispanics..and yes, there would be a local one, generally speaking as long as you are not in an igloo doing ice road trucking on the weekends in Alaska wastelands. So, if it is an issue and if you want to say it for yourself, or for a large imaginary group, either way, there are people who can answer your concerns and questions if you take a moment to work towards a resoluton instead of an avoidance of responsibility.

CNN) – Prominent Republican analysts Peggy Noonan and Mike Murphy became the latest victims of an open microphone Wednesday, caught after a segment on MSNBC trashing John McCain's pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Noonan, a Wall Street Journal columnist and former speechwriter for Ronald Reagan, and Murphy, a campaign strategist and onetime aide to John McCain, can both be heard expressing disbelief with the pick of Palin after they apparently thought they were in a commercial break.
