She gives a pitch-perfect delivery - did a good job of doing what she did. I was totally turned off by the sarcastic nastiness of it. Put down after slick one-liner put down. That is the nasty, combative partisan tone that has immobilized Washington for years. It fosters only divisiveness, and offers no positive solutions or healing in its wake. This is what Obama is trying to change.

I think this speech will help McCain win over the less informed, less educated folks but hurt his appeal with more intelligent voters.

I have been a Democrat for over 40 years and voted party lines each time. I'm a strong Hillary supporter, but my vote will be for McCain/Palin this time...1st time.

Sarah Palin represents the ideas, dreams, and the future for our great country. Jearldine Fiaro and Hillary Clinton marked the way for women and now Sarah Palin can for all of us. Sarah's speech was great tonight and reached out to all Americans.

I never dreamed in my life time that the Republican party would ever...ever..ever nominate a Women as VP. I'm so impressed how they respect her unlike how 1/2 the Democratic party and DNC mistreated the election/Hillary.

Just think the first VP daughter's marriage in the white house? A 17 year old and 18 year old with child. What an example that will set. Do you think Levi will have a nice lobbyist provided job? The campaign spin is interesting and they wrote a good speach which she delivered very well. However, when I listen to Sarah Palin I can't get past the facts of her wanting creationism taught in schools, attempting to ban books, mandating her famiies choice to give birth to a downs syndrome child on all american women by revoking freedom of choice. A McCain/Palin ticket escalates the Bush/Cheney agenda to dominate and control the american people. She is like a reincarnation of the 17th century and her extremism is a step away from burning witches. For anyone who cares about our god given right to think for ourselves we must not be deluded by the campaign spin and lies of the republican party. Her history of abuse of power in Alaska fortells what she would do if given the power of the VP role or God Forbid the Presidency. This election is to important and too much is at stake for our country to vote for a "pitbull in lipstick" we need educated thinking leadership and that is NOT McCain (the playboy) and Palin (the beauty queen).

She talks and acts and is like my family and especially my sister-- she is an advocate for children and especially those with special needs. Whoo--hoo!!!

I totally agree with the comment about "I never thought I'd see the Republican Party promote women" but that is exactly what they are doing. See how the women of the Republican Party rallied around to stop the insanity against this very capable, very strong, and very accomplished Governor? That's a lesson the Dems could do well to learn--rather than stabbing their own women candidates in the back after years of service, stand up and defend unfair attacks against their families and their honor.

I am proud that I, after a lifetime as a loyal, strident Democrat (who was treated with hostility and arrogance by the DNC in 08) have chosen to leave that silly party and make my stand with the

Republican Party (who welcomed me with respect and civility). I see a new future for the Republican Party, as the GOP embraces reason, honor and integrity!

We need to get to the bottom line. Every job has necessary personal and academic qualifications. I do not think that parenting skills set high on the qualification list of being 2nd in line to the presidency. This is a far more serious decision to make than whether Mrs. Palin, women/mothers in general have good parenting skills. Who and what we are in the privacy of our family, at times, can be far different than who and what we are to the world. To me it is disturbing that the republicans have used family, parenting, and sexism as a wedge and political ploy. One can see the “rove” tactics greatly at play. I am not doubting Mrs. Palin parenting skills This election is probably the most serious decision voters will make. Our countries future depends on it. A lot of people have risen to the “top”through hard work and time. But the job Mrs. Palin is applying for is very serious. Considering the age and health concerns of Mr. McCain, this goes far beyond whether she is a good mother or even a woman and that is what concerns me the most. Academics need to come into play. Both Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton have proven accomplishments in this criteria and decades of political service. If you look into the fiscal/decision making policies of Alaska under Govenor Palin, it is not as good as she states.

The desire of some, to put a woman in the whitehouse has somehow become more important than the issues that face our nation. Gender should not be the main issue. The quality of people’s future and daily life depends on this election.

I hope that this election process can get back on track, back to the issues and the failing of the current presidency. Let us not forget the constitution states that our government should be “ of the people, by the people and FOR the people” not for the sake of a few.

Bottom line: this election should not be about “ breasts vs balls” but governing for our nation and its citizens...and pit-bull traits scare the hell out of me, thats why we are where we are.

I listened to Palin's speech and I thought that it would be a sad day for the US if this woman was speaking before the UN or more importantly to a foreign delegation. She sounded as though she was auditioning for a position as homeroom mom.

I am a woman and I thought what a sad day for women if this is the most qualified female candidate that the Republican party could find. The Republicans are sayng that it really doesn't matter who is in the #2 spot.

Palin brings the sin and salvation component that plays well with the fundamentalist crowd, butnot much else

About Obama’s “bitter” comment. It was totally misunderstood from the beginning. The media heard it and did NOT understand what Obama was saying as often happens when you hear only part of something.

The group he was talking to in San Francisco understood what he was saying. Once the media ran with it, all Obama could do was distance himself

What Obama was trying to say to people was this:

You had your jobs, your pensions, your health care, your livelihoods ripped away from you. So the things you have left (your most valued possessions): your faith your families, your guns (because you’re a hunting community) your friends, you don’t want to have them taken from you as well so you hold tight to those. Holding on to these valued things are what helps get us through the tough times.

WHAT HE WAS REFERRING TO WERE THE FIRST AND SECOND AMMENDMENTS OF THE CONSTITUTION. THE AMMENDMENTS THAT REFER TO “FREEDOM OF RELIGION” AND “THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS.” HE WAS SHOWING THAT HE FEELS THE PLIGHT OF THOSE IN THIS SITUATION. HE WAS SAYING WHEN YOU LOSE EVERYTHING ELSE, YOU HAVE THOSE BECAUSE THEY ARE GUARANTEED TO YOU AND THEY CANNOT BE TAKEN AWAY.

He was sympathizing with them and his comments were taken the wrong way by the MSM and that was the story from that point on, the misinterpreted story. And now the REPUBLICANS ARE TRYING TO INSTILL MORE HATE WITH IT

Obama is the one who has suffered here just because he sympathized with them and the MEDIA GOT IT WRONG.

The truth about this should to be known.

Did you know that he and Biden were making fun of how she got started in the PTA?

Probably not. I imagine you people watch MSNBC, NBC, or CBS (not that the others are too much better, but these three are the lowest of the low in terms of prejudicial coverage), in which case you would not have been aware of the negative campaigning of your dream team (let's see: a Presidential candidate with a resume so thin he types it on onionskin paper; and a VP candidate who is supposed to be ready to be President on day 1, and yet the Democratic voters overwhelming stated that they did not want him as President. Who got fewer votes, Biden or Kucinich?).

Whatever. We'll see come November who the American people put their faith with.
