Biden has been out on the trail for the last two weeks. But, we've all been distracted by the news coverage of Sarah Palin, who, to this very moment, has not taken any questions from regular citizens like us or the news media. Maybe she can't put two unscripted coherent thoughts together without sounding like an imbecile?

"Is this why we haven't seen Biden for the last two weeks - the moron has to "practice" a debate. The debate, by its very design and definition is to see who can actually put two or more coherent thoughts together without sounding like an imbecile. He has reduced it down to “I'll do it one way if my opponent has a penis and another if she has a vagina”. To put it in a way which liberals can understand - what a waste of human cells."

Ya gotta be kiddin' me. Ummm, isn't it Gov Palin, who is being shielded from answering questions, and being programmed by her Puppet Masters, so she can speak their thoughts???

She didn't even know what the VP does, last month. I learned that in 5th grade.

The rest of what you said, isn't worth comment.

It is ignorant and antagonistic to say that no one should practice a debate. If you graduated high school, try to take a trip down memory lane and recall your school's debtate club. They weren't just staring at the wall or talking football. They recognized that there is an art to making a solid argument, adressing your opponent squarely, and supporting your statements with fact. Composition of good rhetoric does not come easily, so I do not criticize you for your shortcomings here, I'm sure with practice you too could learn to be persuasive. There are many good examples of ill-founded arguments (see for example robt55's comments on the Biden-Palin debate) which do nothing more than to show their speaker as slight on intelligence or emotionally bound. Conversely, I belive we should laud our politicians who probe their thoughts, expose the weaknesses of their arguments, and refine their positions and bolden their words.

My psycho-analysis: robt55 feels himself to be on the less intelligent side of the population, associates with politicians who he feels can "speak his language", and takes offense when someone tries to expose the shortcomings of brute strength with intelligent debate.

Great. Then Biden's point stands. She needs to explain HOW she's going to "change" Washington. According to the most recent CBS poll this morning, 50% of voters that McCain has picked up expect him to have a "more conservative" agenda than Bush-Cheney.

Is this the kind of changing the White House that you want--to make it even more conservative? A White House that is even more hostile to science? A White House that is even more determined to spy on people? A White House that is more reactionary about going to war and alienating the rest of the world? A White House that is even more determined to lie and hide itself from the media and the American people?

What a maverick.

Solid people in their own minds but nevertheless ramming forward on their own. Examples for Bush include the Iraq war and No Child Left Behind. Examples, for Palin include the hockey rink complex in her hometown for her son and son-in-law, her requests to ban books in her hometwon library, the effort to get her former brother-in-law fired from the state police, puffing up personal items she could charge the state in order to help support her large family (for example, she gets reimbursed a travel allowance when she sleeps in her own home). Palin appears to be just like Bush. I don't even want to say they are 'good' people because although I think their Christian faith leads folks to want to conclude that about them, it appears that both Bush and Palin are small, cynical people grabbing with both hands. Palin is no change from Bush and I want change.

-To address michiganbob, the McCain magic act is not any different from the Obama magic act where he claims he can raise government spending to the nth degree and not raise your taxes. Guarantee that his economic policy will be full of hidden taxes and that, with time, he'll realize that taxing a small fraction of the US's wealthy is not going to pull in nearly enough gov't tax revenue to fund his expensive programming

-I have neither qualified or disqualified Palin. I'll wait until the debate to make that decision. While we rip on her experience, I would argue that gubernatorial experience tends to be more successful at grooming the next Presidents. Let's not forget that a governor of a small southern state of Arkansas turned out to be one of the greatest Presidents of our recent generation. Whereas congressmen pass bills, governors are required to be the absolute leader for that state--don't discount executive experience.

I'm leaning toward McCain only because I don't think the country's problems can be fixed by ramping up government spending. There's a lot of things that scare me about McCain, but he carries a much better track record of cutting wasteful spending and, in a few years ago, actually voted conservatively 77% of the time, which is as moderate as you'll get from a Presidential candidate (compared to Obama voting liberal 97% of the time). I think the former McCain is the best solution for this country, so I'm hoping that the new McCain is just pandering to win the election, but that he'll go back to his roots. But it's a long 60 days and I could still change my mind.

And why do you thinks Palin has been avoiding the media. I believe along with the other "intellegent americans" that she's being "programmed" or else she'll be the one sounding like an imbecile. Give me a break!! Looks like the barracuda has turned into a goldfish and the pit-bull into a poodle. Obama-Biden 08

Thank God Biden isn't full of crap, cause now which Joe biden is telling the truth to the country? The one at the debates or the one holding up Obama's hand as if in victory? I am sure shes a fine hard working american. But I got tired of the BUSH factor. tired of the lies and same crap that made more countries hate us more now than ever. Tired of BIG OIL running the show. *have you seen all the commercials on cable now. vesting in our future with more jobs..(in only a few locations) and tell us DRILL BABY DRILL.. well how about JOBS JOBS JOBS. AFORDABLE HEALTH CARE, and stopping the Lobbyest that are nothing but Corporate PIMPS. This country is in shambles and we need something more than what we got the last 8 years. So if you think that BUSH did a GREAT job.. vote for McCain/Palin. and god help us.

But Obama's words can not be ignored. Everyone knows he was talking about Palin. He can wrap his words up in spins and hope they go away but his words still stink. Obama has nothing going for him but his golden tounge, he has no executive management skills or experience, Palin can run circles around him when it comes to experience and Obama knows it and is doing everything he can to take the focus off his lack of experiece.
On September 10, 2008 at 4:28 PM you said, "Obama has nothing going for him but his golden tongue, he has no executive management skills or experience, Palin can run circles around him when it comes to experience and Obama knows it."

I'm assuming that you put your email and name up because you were up to some feedback on your comment. I'm not going to take up a lot of your time, but I think you missed one of the most significant examples of executive management experience. Running a phenomenal campaign. Sir, there are offices all over the country. Offices that other candidates could only dream of. There is innovative leadership. There's the use of technology. There's the organization of events that previous candidates never even conceived of.

I'm sorry to hear people putting down his ability to make a good speech. But it takes more than the ability to make a good speech to organize an event and actually get people there to hear you.

A campaign take executive management skills. And it has long been known that we learn a lot about our potential presidents by how they run their campaigns.

Figured I'd challenge you on that statement.

My family's future is too important to turn over to a "hockey mom."

He should focus on the economy and illustrate how the current financial disaster is a direct consequence of "trickle down" economics. Corporate tax breaks and the "hands off" de-regulation policies, which the republican party and McCain specifically tout as the backbone of their economic strategy, have not resulted in job creation and econimic growth but have, in fact, trickled down (or should I say gushed down ?) a big fat bailout bill to the american tax payer.

Somebody, please fill in a bewildered Canadian.
