Nonsense, Obama supporters are NOT kicking themselves. Obama and Clinton have a different approach, and that's putting it mildly.

To be talking about if's and buts is ridiculous. Biden is a perfect pick, the perfect foil for Obama, in every way. That the Republicans decided to 'mix it up' the way they have, without any conscience as to the future of the country, in the event of McCain's demise, is a whole different issue.

But as supporters of Obama, we must continue to have faith in his ability, far and away the best in many years, his integrity, his vision and his passion for the country. As such, we must have faith in his campaign managers - I believe in David Axelrod, Dave Plouffe and all the others - and do everything we can - go to the frontlines and give - and the victory will be in the right hands. The country will be more secure, because of better international relations and strategic plans, and internally we will be on a much better path to prosperity and equality.

Obama picked Biden because he was the best person to help him lead. Hillary would have been great, but for Obama, Biden is better.

I admire him for choosing someone he respects and trusts and not choosing someone just to help him win...like someone else I know. He didn’t put the safety and security of this country ahead of his political interests.

Biden is perceived more as a Washington outsider while Clinton a deep insider... Obama would have been raked over the flip-flop coals considering his platform of CHANGE. The visualization of VP Clinton v VP Palen is so striking in contrast. It's a moot point.

Obama has painted McCain as 'more of the same' from the Republicans ... yet it was McCain that stepped outside the Washington politico to pick a VP running mate that actually is a 'change' from just more of the same old Washington politicians ...

I'm as loyal a Democrat as they come. I know that more Rebublican rule is hazardous to the country's health. What is being ingnored, however, is the fact that HIllary Clinton got over 18 MILLION votes. She spoke the truth when she said that her public life has been an open book for years thereby rendering any Republican attack ads impotent. By bypassing the better candidate for both President and Vice President, the Democrats are reaping what they sowed. The polls show that this race is closer than it should be, given that the Republicans have ruled, to a great degree, uncontested since Bill Clinton left office (with a huge surplus.) The Republicans left a wake of decay and ruin in the important areas that affect most people's lives. Along comes Sarah Palin, and captures the thunder of a great woman (Hillary), who worked her butt off for a party that didn't know what they had until they lost it. If, God Forbid, the Republicans win the White House, look to the gender bias against Hillary in the primaries, along with the convoluted Democratic process in the primaries and caucuses.

Second guessing can be fun...Facts are...almost 50% of Americans ...under no circumstances wanted to see Hillary Clinton as President.

I wonder how many people Obama would have lost had Hillary been on the ticket?...How many would have felt betrayed?

I believe Hillary did not want to be VP. She clearly wanted to be at the top of the ticket. I can not see Hillary working for ANYONE....

Hillary didn't ask for, or want, the VP slot- they worked that one out long ago, and you can see from Joe's comment that if she had wanted it she would have gotten it. Politics is a complicated business, people- don't pretend to know what's happened by what you see on the surface. All the details are worked out where we do not see them. Do you think Obama has all this backing from Biden and others without giving Hillary what she wants? Hillary is very capable of making her own decisions and getting what she wants, and it is obvious from the time and the timing of her and Bill's appearances at the convention that that was what they asked for and Obama gave them everything they wanted there. Do you doubt that she has not gotten the position she wants in an Obama administration? It is not VP. Yes, Joe Biden was a second choice pick, but not Obama's second choice pick. And he's a good pick, and greatly approved of by Hillary. Vote Obama, and Hillary will end up on the Supreme court, or perhaps Secretary of State, or wherever it is that she wants to be. Of course they cannot tell this while they are still on the campaign trail, but Biden let the cat out of the bag (a little) for a reason. Jeez,look at things a little smart, for once.

Sounds like Joe is paving the road for a shake-up of the Democratic ticket with him stepping aside and letting HRC join the ticket to save the election for the Democrats. He did say she was qualified to be President or VP. Keeping that in mind, when the shake-up happens, BO gets shook to the #2 spot and HRC heads the ticket. That'll work!

If the Democrats had done that in the first place, there'd have been no Palin, and they would have ensured themselves of a slam dunk victory on November 4th that likely would have also given them a filibuster proof senate majority.

I think Joe Biden is up against a great task in trying to run against Sarah Palin. It doesn't matter what he says against America's homecoming queen. She cannot be touched. If anyone says anything that the Republican party doesnt like, its sexism. My comment is that it is reverse sexism when you protect her from the news media and anyone else.

If this lady is to be second in line for the presidency, she should be able to handle any type of questioning. Should she become president, the foreign countries would certainly not handle her with kid gloves.

If Hillary was the candidate, this would not be going on.

I believe that Senator Hillary Clinton did not want to be the VP. She stated earlier in the race that she and Senator Obama could be running mates if her name was on top of the ticket. I truly believe that he asked her would she be his VP at that meeting they had at her house in Washington, DC. I like Sen. Clinton very much, and I understand her. Since she was running for the presidential spot, and didn't win, she would not accept number two; that's okay. I am crazy about Senator Biden, and he has everything that's needed to step in and be president if need be. Both Senators Obama and Biden are honorable men, that's evident by their honesty to their wives. There's is no evidence of them whoring around on their wives, because it would have surfaced by now if they had. It's men like Senators Obama and Biden with morals and respect for others that we need to be president and vice president of our country.

Senator Biden has always been honorable in government and family matters. His sense of fairness is evident and especially in his support of Senator Clinton. She would have been a great VP candidate and so is Biden. I've especially liked his honor in his personal life and marriage.

Senator McClain couldn't possibly win this election, not only due to Bush record, but also his desperate attempt to maintain Republican support so that he could make this run.

It's his last chance ! Of course there are many that he'd like to get back at... especially in his party.

Senator McClain had no choice but to do something desperate to get attention... unfortunately he decided to manipulate women to do it. Ms. Palin is interesting, nice, provocative and an unknown.

She is in no way qualified...yet. Women should be insulted and yet some have allowed themselves to be manipulated because they "like her"... she's a Mom... but how can anyone expect support for the second highest (probably highest in this election) from just one prepared speech. The Republicans would have never selected a women unless desperate.

Like her... support her as a women... but don't vote for them and put us all back in time.

How can 80% of America feel the country is on the wrong track yet still vote for more of the same?

After 8 years of miserable achievements, McCain is basically running on the same platform of GWB and we’re supposed to vote for 4 more years of it?

MORE corporate tax cuts, the extension of Bush’s current tax cuts which has led to a fiscal crisis and the most lopsided difference between rich and poor in American history, an economic policy that was written by the same person – Phil Gramm - who crafted the legislation to deregulate the mortgage and banking industry which has led to the current housing crisis, his insistence on an indefinite stay in Iraq, his view on not negotiating with your “enemies”, a non-substantive healthcare plan that would not cover preexisting conditions like melanoma and breast cancer, more fossil fuels (oil, coal, and nuclear… are we stuck in the 70’s?) and consistently voting against tax breaks for alternative energy sources, voting to repeal S-chip which was insurance for 11 million adolescents, voting against the GI bill that would improve education benefits to veterans, condoning torture, opposing the right to a fair trial for supposed enemy combatants (sixth amendment) and stating that the Supreme Court decision to uphold the Constitution and their right to trial was “one of the worst decisions in the history of this country”, voting against legislation that would allow equal pay for women, voting against funding for domestic violence abuse.

He wants to “change” Warshington but he is WARSHINGTON!

It makes me angry that the Republicans who have been in charge have ignored all the needs of the average working class citizens and the poor while giving more to big corporations and the rich then blame “liberal” Democrats for the policies and laws that have been written for the last 8 years - by the way it’s not a majority in Congress when its 51-49, votes are filibustered and vetoed by W.

It angers me that the Constitution has been subverted to enact laws that take away our freedoms for our “protection” – domestic wire tapping but they aren’t listening to my call.

It angers me that every time a Democrat idea was sent to this administration it was vetoed no matter the benefit to the greater good.

It angers me that we can spend $1 TRILLION on a war of lies and disregard, education, infrastructure, healthcare.

It angers me that Republicans feel that only Republicans are TRUE Americans but this president and his administration can leak the name of a CIA agent which is treasonous without remorse or consequences.

It angers me they use fear as a tactic to have people believe in their lies – NEXT HOMELAND SECURITY ALERT: OCTOBER ‘08.

It angers me that this administration had no idea 9/11 would occur yet completely disregarded a simple presidential report entitled “Osama bin Laden determined to strike in US.”

Katrina, Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib, Alberto Gonzales, Harriet Miers, Rumsfield, Cheney, Blackwater, Halliburton, and the list goes on…

War hero or not, JMC is the same guy. John Kerry was a war hero but that wasn’t good enough for him, but then again he was a Democrat war hero.

I think Obama made a great choice. I think he and Biden have a better chemistry and according to the polls at the time, most Democrats preferred him as VP over Hillary anyway. People have very short memories in this election. During the primaries everyone counted Obama out and look who won. This isn't over until it's over. I have no doubt that when Palin actually starts talking to people and reporters that she' going to put her foot in her mounth.

She already has. When she returned to Alaska, she had to have a teleprompter. She also stated something about the war in Iran and chasing down Al Quaeda there. Al Quaeda was never in Iran!!

So this is the person that you want in the VP position? She's Dan Quayle in a skirt, she's just better at hiding her lack of understanding.

The people that are saying they are McCain/Palin voters all used similar words in their text...."Lord, prayer, sin, abortion, gay". The seperation between church and state is getting narrower and narrower under Republican leaders. Won't be long before this country isn't a democratic government but a religious one. Pay attention folks to what the Republican voters believe our leaders should do in office. Very, very scary.

And, I don't care how much they try to defend the "Hockey"Mom, 18 months as the governor of a population less than some small cities is no experience. Someone who can, on day two bash the other campaign with lies is not who we need possibly as President of the US. I have a question for you all to think about, and it's a question that no one seems to have the courage to ask. What was Senator McCain doing while flying over the skies of Vietnam. Was he sightseeing? No. He was "cluster" bombing or dropping "agent orange" on innocent human beings. He was dropping bombs on people who, like those of us in America, were trying to go about their daily lives of caring for their children and elders...trying to making a living. How would any of us feel if another country decided that they wanted some of the vast array of natural resources that we have and began bombing us? While I worked in my garden, fed my animals, tried to have a peaceful and productive life, how would I feel about that person who was trying to destroy not only me, the family I loved (yes, we all love our families regardless of nationality), and the piece of land that I work everyday and love like one of my children, by bombing all of us into oblivion. Yes, he was shot down and tortured. No, I did not then, and do not now, believe in torture (though our country has tortured and is continuing to do so). However, to continually trot this out as a heroic deed and how it made him stronger without anyone every questioning what he was doing when he was shot down is ridiculous. Why does no one ever ask this question? He was killing innocent people and destroying their land when someone got lucky and stopped at least this one plane from continuing the massive killing.

Am I a peacenik? Nope. Do I believe in securing our borders? Absolutely!!! I believe that the money we are spending daily on a war that was conceived by lies would be better spent here at home and give us much better odds of keeping our country safe. If we as a nation were not constantly meddling in the affairs of other nations (particularly those with something we want), we might not have these extremists trying to blow us up.

Please, would one brave reporter ask the question of John McCain, "What were you doing when you got shot down?", Let's see if he can at least answer that one question directly.

As a disgruntled Republican I have no one to vote for. In case your wondering what disgruntled Republicans are we are fiscal conservatives and social moderates. Which means we don't care if two homosexuals want to get married as long as gas is under $4 a gallon. Get gas under $3 a gallon and they can marry a donut.

Palin was picked because it gave the Republicans the best chance of winning, period. It had nothing to do with her experience or lack of. It was a political pick to give McCain a chance to win. And guess what. It's working.

Obama is a nothing. He's done nothing. Name one. Just one piece of meaningful legislation he's authored since his very short term as a senator started. You can't because it doesn't exist. He's no different than Palin. An inexperienced popular face.

It is sad to think that out of 300 million people these are the best candidates yet here we are. A country divided. After eight years of the most corrupt and inefficient government since the Hoover administration we are faced with the far left or the far right.

The lack of a common sense middle ground party or candidate is frustrating. Religion will not fix the ecomony. Neither will taxing corporations or the wealthy. What's the first thing any business does when forced to deal with higher costs? It eliminates employees. Since Alan Greenspan we have embraced this idea of fighting inflation. The result. Thousands of American jobs outsourced to foreign countries so costs could stay low and corporate profits remain high.

Praying won't help and whining about the "rich" won't help. We need to get off our collective Republican and Democratic butts and make hard choices. Reform our tax codes, seal our borders and then create a meaningful and fair immigration plan, create tax benefits for businesses that create U.S. jobs, embrace nuclear, solar and wind technology and forget turning corn into fuel. Drill more but create the refineries needed to process the oil.

The technology exists today to build efficient all electric vehicles if the auto industry and oil industry would allow it. Check out www.teslamotors.com. If they can build an electric sports car they can build an electric passenger car.

The war in Iraq was over in a month. Did people forget we won. We crushed them. The peace in Iraq and the rebuilding of an Iraq we destroyed goes on. Was Japan rebuilt in four years? Was Germany?

What are Obama and Biden and McCain and Palin doing to answer any of these things? Not a damn thing. They all represent the same old tired line of the far left and the far right. This election will be close and the map of the country will match the map of the last two elections. The coasts voting liberal and the heart of the country voting conservative.

We need politicians that damn political correctness and say and do what needs to be done. These puppets will do neither. And no matter who wins we will have four more years of the same.

I am a Democrat and a woman and there is NO WAY I would vote for Palin based solely on her gender! Anyone voting for a candidate based on the 'package' should be ashamed of themselves. I disagree with her and McCain on every issue.

I feel it was a smart tactical move to bring a woman to McCains ticket, especially this woman, as the Repubs are pushing for off-shore drilling as they are. The extent and content of controversy surrounding her will hopefully be a saving grace for the Dems.

Joe Biden is a great pick and if the media quits with the we are not in the business of stopping spin mentality the knowledge, skill, and human decency of Biden will "out shine" the newness and false impression the Republicans are trying to put on the pick of Palin. Her pick as far as I am concerned is just a cynical polical move. For a man who says country first, would rather win a war then lose an election patriot like McShame, isnt it illuminating that he would risk the country in the event of his death or incapacity with someone has untested as Palin and whose social views run counter to McShames stated positions. What are his positions- what he has stated in the past, or similar to the person he picked as his RUNNING MATE.

I totally understand that as I have many friends who are vets of that war, a couple of whom came home wounded both physically and emotionally. However, even though he was obeying an order, to try to get so much mileage out of the fact that he was shot down while bombing people and held captive and tortured seems so wrong because even though he was doing what he was ordered, he was still killing people. Perhaps he still does not see the connection because he just dropped the bombs (all 20 missions of them) and never saw his destruction first hand. My high school friends, who were grunt military, were at least in a situation of kill or be killed, and quite frankly, see that war as something that they signed on to fight but would much rather not have had to do. They rarlely talk about the horror of it all as they saw it from the ground level. I just wish he would be quiet about that whole experience and realize that the Vietnam war, just like this one, was such a waste and was nothing to be proud of, either as a combatant or as a country.

Would it be so bad to ask the question as to whether he thinks it is still right to ask that our young people of today be asked to do what he had to in an equally useless war?

Even his speech during the RNC he continually looked down even on words that should have been EASILY remembered that should have been delivered with emotion and looking straight into the camera or at the audience.

I'm so sick hearing that she was treated badly during the primarys. I think women that run for president should take should stop whining about being treated differently. Men don't cry when they lose. That's a great question and great line of inquiry. It's symbolic of the major difference between the two parties right now. Along the same lines, here's another issue that needs to be raised. Why don't we hear more about the 100,000+ civilian deaths in Iraq? These included women, children, and babies? Why is the pro-life voice on this one? In fact, where are any of the Christian voices? Is America so like Nazi Germany that it is unsafe to raise this issue? How many of the dead Iraqi civilians and their families feel "liberated" right now?

A fourth generation soldier can be looked at in a couple of ways. We have heard all that's necessary about the heroic lineage stuff. On the other hand, psychologists might say that McCain was not emotionally and intellectually strong enough to overcome his family-of-origin conditioning so that he could define his own destiny. That bears some weight, I think. Even now, he tries on the one hand to be a decent politician, but is once again drawn back into a lesser mode of functioning be the authorities in his life. Anyone else see this in play?

After reading some of the comments I could not help but say a few things. After Hillary lost in the Dem. primary I was for sure that Obama would select her as running mate. When he did not I knew it was a big mistake. As far as one side lying and the other is honest is nothing but BS. Both sides do it. You as a individual cannot tell me you have never ever told a little lie? I also would like to see Obama say the pledge to our flag on national TV by himself no lip sing. I would also like to see him put God & country first not his campaign. I for one would like to see the draft come back into effect as we have openned ourselves to national destruction by going with a voluntary military. I was drafted and have no regrets. That is one reason why we have problems with young men, I have worked around alot of them and they accept no responsibility at all they try to pass blame on someone else. We as a nation are letting the minority take control. Other countries are not afraid of us any more because we have lost our strength as a military unit. You have to take a stand against the bullies.

Lets leave the personal induendos out of it and lets hear what they have to say.

All of these assertions are false. Congress has allowed new drilling, just not in all of the zones that the oil companies want--such as off the coasts and in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. They can drill all they want in the millions of square miles that are currently available to them. The price of gas is on a decline? Watch until the election, the price will rise again. The Clinton administration did nothing about terrorist attacks? Do you not remember him bombing Sudan and Afghanistan? Catching several, if not all, of the terrorists involved. Have you not heard of Richard Clarke? Former terrorism expert in the Pentagon, he wrote a book about the drastic change of seriousness about terrorism between the Clinton and Bush administrations (Bush did not take the threat of terrorism seriously). The economy the fault of Clinton? We could have elected a squirrel instead of Bush and you could say the same thing, "it's all Clinton's fault, he set forth the policies." Bush has about the same economic policies as a squirrel, except he gives billions in tax give aways to the very rich, including oil companies (for whom our country is fighting a war in Iraq that costs 10 billion dollars per month). Congress had the same intelligence as the President before 9/11. Read Ron Suskin's latest book--the intelligence was not only cherry-picked by Cheney, it was doctored and the chief Iraqi "informant" was paid to lie about what was going on.

Obviously, Obama did not pick Clinton, because he did not want to feel under the shadow of Bill Clinton by having her as Vice President. Obviously, many feel he made a mistake, not to say that Biden is not good. He could have had a united party, instead it looks like he shot himself in the foot. Regardless of this error, we have no other choice.

No matter how you look at it, the Palin/McCain ticket is going to be a disaster for this country if elected. She speaks of defending Georgia, does she not have the basic understanding of the economic and military circumstances of this country following an unnecessary war, only 10% of the cost of which is included in our massive deficit budget this year, all because Bush knowingly misrepresented the facts of the non existent weapons of mass destruction. You then combine that with the Neocon mantra of no regulation or supervision of the mortgage and banking industry, the abuses of which they, and the Bush administration were repeatedly warned about, causing the economic meltdown we are suffering, than add the massive bailouts in the works, then add the the problem once the foreign lenders, such as China, and the Middle east, finally decide to cut off the flow of loans to the Federal Government, then throw in the fact that our military is extended far beyond what it should be in Afghanistan, and Iraq, with no reserve for any "adventure" suggested by Palin, (This is because the Bush administration did not want to create a war footing for the country, increased taxes, a draft, and geared up military output, because of political fallout) and then stir in the Bush and McCain further tax cuts to "stimulate" the economy, and further reduce the country's ability to pay down the war debt.

Russia, and Iran know full well we cannot do a thing militarily, or even sanction wise, because they control the Oil supply of Europe and the US. We do anything, and off goes the oil. Perhaps 6 years ago, when Cheney was developing the country's "new" energy policy with input from his buddies, and Enron, with no consideration of the future of this country energy needs, this could have been avoided through an agressive alternative energy development. We all know that did not happen, they won't even tell us who was on his energy committee!

So, what Ms Palin does not seem to understand is that this Great Country of ours can do nothing but make verbal statements of opposition, and offer moral support to the Georgains ( and perhaps send Cheney to Russia with the hope he could go hunting with Putin,) Her party has done nothing over the past 7 years to change this.outcome, other than give Bush and Cheney whatever they wanted, no questions asked. The Republican party has become the Lemming Party of America, Bush, Cheney, and now McCain and Palin are still just pointing the way to the cliffs Is she ready to be Commander in Chief, I don't think so.

Bush and Cheney have turned this country into a payday loan borrower, with China and Saudi Arabia as the lenders. McCain and Palin will only continue with more of the same.

Foreclosures jumped 27 percent in a single month and 45 percent in the past year according to a new report from a company that's repeating a refrain of growing concern -- rising rates and softening home prices are lowering the boom on home owners.

RealtyTrac said its January foreclosure report reveals a 27 percent increase in foreclosure activity from December and a 45 percent increase from January 2005 -- almost double the rate last year of 25 percent.

"This is the first time since we introduced the report in January of 2005 that we've seen back-to-back months with increases of more than 20 percent," said James J. Saccacio, chief executive officer of RealtyTrac.

And it's not just seasonal.

"While some of this might have to do with the seasonality of normal real estate cycles, it appears that rising interest rates and softening home prices are beginning to push foreclosure inventories close to the historic average of one percent of all us households," Saccacio added.

I was a Hillary supporter, I am still a Hillary supporter. I question Obama's decision to be called an African American (Black man), in fact he is only 50% black and 50% white. If he initially ran as a dark skinned white man, would he have even been considered or had the racial backing he received? His choice of Biden hopefully will come back and bite him in the behind. At convention, had all votes been allowed, would he even be our nominee? I seriously doubt it, since they gave Michigan and Florida a vote rather than DNC's choice. He's a gentleman and respectful even when he is attacked. HIllary supporters: yes, POLITICALLY, if might have been better if Hillary was VP, because the GOP is playing the political game to gain small-minded Hillary supporters that can't tell the difference between two vaginas. There are many of us out that will stand for our right to vote, and to vote for who we want and who we do not want. I will be changing my party affiliation immediately after I vote in November. I refuse to vote for another illegitimate presidency...I will not vote for Barack.

2. All the talk about Hillary being divisive and not bringing the party together....Barack could have easily done this by asking her to be on the ticket....he just could not get past his arrogance, ego and self centeredness.

i am not and have not wanted to vote for a 'vagina' as ckeledjian classely expresses....i would never vote for a woman purely because she is a woman. Hillary was and is far more qualified than any man that ran for the dem ticket. just goes to show you that america is still more interested in what is fashionable and historical than just and fair. the pundits and media nearly drooled over Barack...and for what? they even billed him as the first african american....he is actually half black and half white, but it is more interesting to say the former. history will show us in time, man versus woman....men win....still. forget color biase....gender bias is truly the greatest hurdle left. i hope we have not missed our only chance in a while. we really blew it big time.

I really wish people would quit assuming that all Clinton supporters are small minded, petty, arrogant, spiteful, or any of the countless insulting ajectives being used constantly to describe us. There are a lot of us out here who believe in the Democratic party and what it stands for and are choosing to vote to put a good Democrat into the White House. Obama was not my choice when it came time to vote in the primary, but I believe he's qualified to be the leader of the country I am proud of, and when election day comes, this Clinton supporter will vote proudly for the ticket that has been nominated to take back the country and restore it's good name and luster around the world. I will be more then happy to provide a foundation for each and every one of my facts. Since it is late, I will address the issue of the Clinton Administrations role in our current motgage dilemma.

Joshua Rosner, of Graham Fisher & Co wrote an article on June 29, 2001, which predicted the current housing market and its negative impacts on the economy. I quote the following:

“This report assesses the prospects of the U.S. housing/mortgage sector over the next several years. Based on our analysis, we believe there are elements in place for the housing sector to continue to experience growth well above GDP. However, we believe there are risks that can materially distort the growth prospects of the sector. Specifically, it appears that a large portion of the housing sector's growth in the 1990's came from the easing of the credit underwriting process. Such easing includes:

* The drastic reduction of minimum down payment levels from 20% to 0%

* A focused effort to target the "low income" borrower

* The reduction in private mortgage insurance requirements on high loan to value mortgages

* The increasing use of software to streamline the origination process and modify/recast delinquent loans in order to keep them classified as "current"

* Changes in the appraisal process which has led to widespread over appraisal/over-valuation problems

Please note in paragraph one, Mr. Rosner sites “a large portion of the housing sector's growth in the 1990's came from the easing of the credit underwriting process.”

He then lists 5 easements of credit, including targetting the low income borrower. My esteemed bloggers, is it not the low income of such borrowers not being able to meet the increase in their ARM, that have resulted in so many foreclosures? Again, based on the number of mortgages, the percentage of foreclosers have not drastically risen, but exponentailly speaking, there are a large number. What people don't seem to grasp is that if Hillary had been selected as the VP, then Sarah Palin would NOThave been, so they still wouldn't be going head-to-head. Palin was selected AFTER Biden was selected in order to highlight the absence of women on the Democratic ticket. If Hillary had been selected over foreign policy heavyweight Biden, then we can be certain that McCain would have countered with a military / foreigh policy type to highlight the absence of foreign pilocy experience on the Democratic ticket.

I gotta tell ya, I almost had the Palin thing nailed... although I didn't guess it would be her specifically. But I knew McCain was going to pick a female dark horse even though all his "top" candidates were men. I was guessing Condi Rice. Actually, that would have been even more effective than Palin because it would also have siphoned off some of the Black vote, as well as her current female supporters who would vote for anyone with a uterus. The fact tha Rice is incompetent obviously is not a disqualifier given McCain's ultimate selection of Palin. PS - Did anyone see the ABC interview of Palin? Sheesh, what a dumb airhead.

Any rational thinking person with an IQ above 50 should be able to see that Palin is not only inexperienced and unqualified but she is a kook as well. Take the time to look at some of the videos of her speaking that are on YouTube. Look at her speaking at her church, look at where she REALLY stood on the Bridge to Nowhere. If you thought Obama's pastor was an ass take a look at the things her pastor is preaching.

I have always been independent and I have voted both ways. I voted for Bush before, but there is no way in hell I can vote for people that I see constantly lying and then having someone with no kind of experience whatsoever a heartbeat away from the presidency.

It's funny to listen to Karl Rove blasting another potential VP choice a few months ago as unqualified based on the size of the area he governed and then listen to him praise the Palin choice, what a bunch of hypocrites.

I have seen polls showing women voters moving to McCain-Palin just because of gender, how insane is that? There isn't a woman I know that sides with her on anything and you would vote for her just because you want to see a woman there? There were DOZENS of more qualified women for McCain to choose from, it makes me think there is something much deeper here. Consider who backs her, British Petroleum sponsored her inauguration. Another Big Oil controlled administration?

That was his first opportunity to unite the party and he failed. Many other Hillary supporters that I have spoken with are still in shock and are not voting Obama or have not yet decided. The Stalinists initially supported Obama running in the primaries because they wanted him to get some exposure. The chances of Obama actually winning the nomination was not even considered. After all, he was just a freshman senator with only 143 days of experience on the books. But he would make a hell of a candidate in the future. No, this was Hillary’s show. She was their candidate and was allegedly a shoe in. Even after his first couple of victories, the thought processes again were “good exposure for the future”. But as he continued to beat the odds and garner more victories or close seconds, key democratic leaders were either keeping their mouths shut on who they were actually supporting or jumping Hillary’s ship. That was their biggest blunder. They changed horses in the middle of the race.

Now, all the democrats are second and third guessing Obams and his decisions. Obama’s experience and judgment are now being seriously questioned by not only those who were potentially going to vote for him, but by those who are determined to vote for him. The fact of the matter is Obama is going to lose this election because a majority of the populous votes intelligently. They are asking them selves if they really want to vote for someone that they are not even sure can do the job?

When this is all over, we will have experience in the White House and a disgruntled democratic party that will be playing arm chair quarterback for the next eight years. You guys want to win? Then put together a platform you can all agree on, if your egos will allow it.

Because of our advanced technology, the proven reserves have been located in the northern most section of the arctic wildlife preserve. The area needed is a mere 2000 acres out of 19 million acres. What millions of square miles are you referring to that is available for drilling? Does thiis area have proven reserves? Where is the area located? Mars?

The congressional moratorium on offshore drilling for most coastal waters was imposed in 1981 and has been extended each year since then in the form of a rider on an Interior Department appropriations bill. The issue has been political since 1976. (The Carter years, remember 21% interest rates. If you weren't around back then, look it up in the history books). Every year, it has been shoved down our throats, making us more dependant on imports.

At least you agree the cost of gas and oil is dropping, albeit, the hurricanes certainly aren't helping the situation. Explain to me what makes you so sure the price will go up after the election. What is the relationship there?

Obama is paying these guys back for the money they allowed to go to him. He is no different then any other politician. These persons were responsible for driving Freddie and Fannie into bankruptcy, forcing the tax payers to bail them out? Come on people, get educated! The fact of the matter is that McCain was a cosponsor of a bill in 2005 that would have allowed government regulators to over see the finances of these two mortgage giants. However, the bill was shot down due to petty partisan politics. The democrats hate the republicans so much, that they would rather see the end of this country, then help pass responsible legislation. They have done more to harm this country then any terrorist could dream of.
