The economy. The war in Iraq. Whether Sarah Palin's mooseburgers are better than Barack Obama's chili . But there's at least one thing that it won't be about: Earmarks. Our apologies to John McCain.

re: Memo to the Candidates: Stop Talking About Earmarks.
Thinking that those who are Listening, Mainly those New Mis-Guided Females, Flocking Palin an Not McCain, simply because she's a Woman and are Blinded by this DECEPTION and simply DO NOT CARE whether or NOT Palin is [Alaska's EarMark Queen]

These Blinded, Mis-Guided Women, simply want a Female in the Oval Office !!!

-----------------------------

McCain and Palin are counting on these Mainly Women on being that Brainless an Clueless to his Running Mate's [EarMark Madness] or that these People listening have no Television, Internet, moreover Access to a Public Library, that gives them Free Access to Computer, to Wikipedia, Google or You Tube, to Highlight McCain's Contradiction in having Palin on his Ticket...

Being that Sarah Palin is [The EarMark Queen of the Frozen Tundra] Called.... ALASKA !!

How will Plain counter this Contradiction in a Joe Biden Debate or John McCain in a Debate with Barack Obama...

Simply saying I Don't Support it now will not Suffice,

Obama for president! I think that is the funniest tag line for a joke I have heard all year.

It is amazing that he still has fans that think he is a great guy... Eventhough he is a documented liar, has questionable relationships, wants to lessen our countries security, and has strong immoral beliefs. You would think that this wouldn't be an issue because of his obvious failings, but it appears that ignorance is at an all time high!

It sure is scary that people have the ability to smile while they contribute to the decline of America.

Get out your "I love China!" bumper stickers.

You Need to come to Your Senses and back to Reality !!!!

Obama has 240 of the Electoral Vote...

All Obama needs is [270] whoever gets to [270] Wins...

McCain is at [189]

-----------------------------------

Karl Rove's Road map says the Same thing, even Brit Hume Agreed with that...

Obama is a Smart Man, the Clinton Race made him Stronger !!!

-------------------------------------------

The Polls mean Nothing, McCain is the one whose Clearly Behind and trying to catch up [270 Electoral Votes]

John Kerry Won the Popular Vote and Lost to George W. Bush via the [Electoral College Vote] Dumb A!!!

I guess Dubya must've [Bushtized Us All] Huh !!!

--------------------------------------------------------

CNN) -- Sen. John McCain has inched ahead of Sen. Barack Obama in national polls, but the Democratic candidate holds a steady lead in the most recent Electoral College estimates.

In national surveys, McCain leads by 2 points, 47 percent to 45 percent, according to CNN's poll of polls released Monday night.

In the Electoral College standings, the most recent survey shows 243 electoral votes either safely in Obama's column or leaning his way. At this point, McCain can claim only 189.

Many of the state polls used to determine the Electoral College standings, however, were conducted before the conventions.

Monday marked the first time McCain passed Obama in CNN's poll of polls. Watch how the race has tightened »

On Saturday, Obama was up by 3 in the poll of polls. That lead shrank to just 1 point Sunday before disappearing Monday.

In the most recent survey, 8 percent of respondents said they were still unsure about who they were going to vote for.

The poll of polls is an average of five surveys: CNN (September 5-7), ABC/Washington Post (September 5-7), CBS (September 5-7), Gallup (September 5-7) and Diageo/Hotline (September 5-7). The poll of polls does not have a sampling error.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll released Monday shows McCain and Obama tied at 48 percent.

The poll, which was conducted Friday through Sunday, carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. It was based on 1,022 telephone interviews.

Republicans are hoping that if McCain can close the popular vote gap, he can also make gains in the electoral gap. The Electoral College will ultimately decide who takes over the White House.

Although polls across the country are open on one day, the election is not a national poll but a series of 51 state-level elections that decide the members of the Electoral College.

Technically, voters aren't choosing a candidate but a slate of electors who have pledged to vote for that candidate when the Electoral College meets.

With 538 electors up for grabs, the candidate with more than half -- 270 -- wins the presidency. The number of electors from each state equals the number of senators and representatives the state sends to Congress

http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/08/17/europe/EU-GEN-Russia-China-Maneuvers.php

Note: We will get our A!! Kicked !!! Look at our 5 YEARS in Iraq & Afghanistan....

And you THINK we can Handle Russia & China ...WRONG!!!

Big Note: Obama is Right, we need to get Europe back on Our Side, oopsed to hating us or being Unconcerned with us, as a War Mongering Nation.

Europe will Not Support a John McCain Presidency and what it would bring to their Nations....Sorry

CHEBARKUL TESTING RANGE, Russia: President Vladimir Putin said Friday he had ordered strategic bombers to resume regular long-range patrols as Russian and Chinese forces held their first joint military exercise on Russian soil — a show of armed muscle aimed at sending a pointed message to the United States.

The resumption of bombing patrols, which analysts say signaled a significant change for Russian military policy, comes amid a growing chill in U.S.-Russian relations, strained over Washingtons criticism of Russias democracy record, Moscows objections to U.S. missile defense plans and differences over global crises.

Both Moscow and Beijing share a heightening distrust of what they see as the United States oversized role and influence in global politics, and the two former Cold War rivals have forged a "strategic partnership" aimed at counterbalancing Washingtons policies.

The Russian-Chinese war games, which took place near the Urals Mountain city of Chelyabinsk, coincided with Russian air force maneuvers involving 20 strategic bombers which ranged far over the Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic oceans.

"We havent seen that kind of activity in a very long time," Asak told The Associated Press. "Not since the early 1990s. It was quite impressive to see."

What does [Natural Resources] have to do with [National Security] ....

McCain Top Economic Adviser: He Will Raise Taxes

"Whether you're a Republican, Democrat President or a Martian, Taxes will be Raised"

Though McCain has said Throughout his campaign "I will Not, Raise Your Taxes"

His Top Economic Adviser says that a LIE....Obama will Raise Taxes on those that make More than 250,000...

The under will have a Tax Break and Tax Cut.

Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a former Director of the Congressional Budget Office and current chief McCain economic advisor, is an honest man--which means he's something of a liability on the Straight Talk Express. A few months ago, he admitted to my colleague, Michael Scherer, that Barack Obama's economic plan would reduce taxes for most people. And now, in a forthcoming book by Fortune columnist Matt Miller, he makes it clear that the next President is going to have to raise taxes.

"If you do nothing on the spending side, you're going to have to raise taxes whether you're a Republican, a Democrat or a Martian," he tells Miller...and then he immediately makes it clear that the "spending side" part of the argument is nothing more than a political fig-leaf.

Its McCain, that has made this an issue.

The London Times had it right today. Obama cannot be a harbinger of change because he was molded in the most corrupt political system of any democratic industrialized nation, that of Chicago, and it was succesful enough to rub off on him to ensure one of the largest state political corruption cases[ Operation BOARD GAMES] in Illinois history,a state long known for its problems in this area and curiously, every single last major defendant is tied to Obama. This,is what should be scaring people....

Earmarks are the last thing I want to hear about. Both McCain and Obama have said that they'd end them once in the White House.

The stupid part of this is that Earmarks are great on one level: they help fund needed projects.

However, the use of lobbyist to secure funding for something like the ridiculous Bridge to Nowhere is the problem.

As a registered Independat I'm looking for hippocracy. I detest corupt people in power who say one thing and do another. Bush said he'd reduce spending, and unite republicans and democrats. That all seems like a lie now. I want my vote back. I'm so sorry America.

How am I suppose to take McCain/Palin seriously when they say they're the champions of ending earmarks. She was fiercely pro earmarks a short while ago.

I don't want to hear about earmarks anymore when both candidates support ending it. I'd really like to see McCain fire all those lobbyist helping him run his campaign: that would be Reform!

Please tell us more about how were going to break our addiction to oil and aggressively pursue renewable energy resources to create new industries and rejuvenate our children's imaginations and science classes! Please tell me how you're going create more jobs and how you're going to prevent us from spending ourselves into debt in unnecessary wars where diplomacy can work too.

Please talk about differences that matter! America's media needs to guide this process.

I want to hear about Energy and Jobs! Save our Sinking Ship!!!

Thankfully my country protects my rights to freedom of speech, as opposed to the Socialist state that Obama wants to turn this country into. It begins with these promises of redistribution of wealth that he call an economic plan. As for him being Islamic... I'm just using the words he spoke when he call them his brothers and sisters I believe it was. As far as McCain talking about the issues... what issues do you want to talk about? I can tell you what his stance on them is. McCain hasn't avoided talking about any issues... in fact he asked Obama to join him in 10 town hall style debates... your leader on the issues declined because he can't speak unless he has two or three days to have his people prepare the speech. I mean really... a guy who starts his name with "russian" talking to us about American politics? Please son.

earmarks is what prez candidates should have been talking about for the past couple of decades, ever since spending took off during Reagan's term & deficit has now topped out at a $9,500,000,000,000 (eh, that's $9.5 *trillion*)

W. is, incredibly, responsible for $4 trillion of this deficit. earmarks have everything to do with this elephant in the living room. Bush Sr. & Reagan for about $3 trillion. again, thank earmarks, to a very large degree

then again, you don't look old enough to be infuriated by our tax rate. i'm only 48, but one day you'll look back & go "holy f***ing sh*t!!! i can't believe they were spending that much money of my tax money on earmarks all that time!!!"

it is a HUGE problem - institutionalized, contractualized corporate welfare. your article is blusterously nieve

Earmarks .. aren't the problem, ABUSE of earmarks is "a" problem. But even with that, it's TRIVIAL compared to the other problems.

Once again, FACTS please. Pay attention to the FACTS.

When you elect a senator, his (or her) JOB is to represent your state. Part of that means bringing jobs, or industries or MONEY that would benefit the residents of the states.

"In fiscal year 2008, there were 11,524 earmarks totaling $16,501,833,000" .. from the Office of Budget and Management ( http://earmarks.omb.gov/2008_appropriations_home.html )

OR what we spend in about six weeks in IRAQ. And that's ALL the earmarks. MOST of them are legitimate and are fully disclosed by responsible representatives.

About HALF of that was for MILITARY and DEFENSE.

The "questionable" (undisclosed) appropriations amount to less than the cost of 5 DAYS of what we spend in IRAQ.

YES, it should be dealt with and the ALL earmarks should be DISCLOSED, but getting back those moneys isn't going to make any difference at all in solving the REAL problems.

Republicans complain about silly little 1 million dollar expenditures to A HOSPITAL when gwb spent 52-million (of TAXPAYER money) on his last inauguration party !! GIVE ME A BREAK.

Obama secured 740 million for his state.. of 13 million people.. over FOUR years ..ALL of it disclosed.

Again, we spend that in less than TWO DAYS in IRAQ.

GET REAL FOLKS !

Obama calling Islamists "brothers and sisters" is a Christian thing to say...Are you Christian? If you believe in God then you know that we are all God's children. Whether we are Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Budist or Non-believer; we ARE all brothers and sisters...

McCain hasn't said anything different from what I've been hearing the past 8 years from Bush in terms of policy.

Regarding the 10 town hall debates...If you can remember that far back you will remember that McCain was trying to do anything possible to get an audience larger than him, his campaign people, the 2 or 3 media personel and the town strays! Now he's raising this as an excuse for puting out lies about Obama wanting to teach kindergardeners sex and calling Palin a pig...Shameful!

Obama has laid out his financial, domestic, international and social plans. All of which are a complete new direction than where we've been heading the past 8 years. I've yet to hear what "change" McCain is selling....'cause it sure sounds like a heck of a lot of the same of the past 8 years...

Re-distribution of wealth...HMM...Isn't that what has been happening over the past 8 years? The middle class gets eaten alive while the fat cats get all the money...Yeah..I agree...we absolutely need some "re-distribution" of wealth...let's send some to the middle class.

I know I won't change your mind, but I just want to make sure that your nonsense didn't go unanswered.

Obama loses ground daily. The media does not want to talk about earmarks because McCain has none. Quit being part of the problem and part of the solution. I agree get out your I love china bumper stickers if obama wins. I am an American before I am a republican. You want to solve the economy take a look in the mirror. The government who you all slam on these sights is not responsible for your spending habits. No one told you to buy a house you really could not afford put two new cars that are probably imports in your driveway and max out your credit cards to keep up with jones's down the street. Clinton allowed freed trade and now we buy everyone else's products because we do not make any anymore. China is getting rich off of us as is Japan since they are the number one auto maker in the US now and they are not even an American company. Do they build cars here. Yes. But where do all the profits go. The democratic finally decides to pass a bill to drill oil because they have hedged on this for so long now they are afraid to get voted out of office. Obama flipped on that issue last week as well. As for me I believe it is up to us to fix what we have so terribly messed up. And I mean us the American people. I have to say though I am fighting with John McCain I will fight for this country. At the rate we are going there will not be a country to fight for.

Is the federal government ever ever ever going to spend money on regionally identified projects? How about a bridge? A college-managed research project? A road" An abused spouse safehouse? All of these projects are local, regional and specific. Some of them are smart (what if the college research project is about AIDS?). Some of them are stupid or seemingly so (I imagine DNA studies of bears sounds stupid, although I have not heard the scientific reason for it, if there is one -- easily mockable, but just maybe worthwhile -- we just don't know.

My point is this: IF, IF, IF the federal government is going to fund any of these kinds of projects, then the next big question is this: WHO IS GOING TO CHOOSE WHAT GETS FUNDED?

One answer is: the bureaucrats in the Executive Branch decide them all. All Congress can do is give, say, "research money" to the Executive Branch and then the bureaucrats set up all sorts of rules and forms and processes -- or maybe they use NO BID CONTRACTS and grants to someone's favorite corporation! But under this scenario, it is bureaucrats and bureaucrats alone who make the decision which project gets funded and which does not.

Here is the kicker: "Earmarks" are just the way our ACTUALLY ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES have some direct say over which projects are funded and which are not. Rather than let the Executive Branch bureaucrats make all the decisions, our ELECTED Representatives in the House and Senate actually decide on this or that project. What's wrong with that? It sounds like governing to me!

Take one favorite whipping boy: Who makes more sense in deciding roads: ONLY unelected bureaucrats or maybe in some cases there is some direct say by those elected to make decisions? Now, it seems to me, that there is ROOM FOR SOME LEGISLATIVE INPUT even into roads and bridges.

In other words, the problem with the Bridge to Nowhere was that it was a stupid project, not that an actually elected member of Congress decided to do it.

The other option is NO SPECIAL PROJECTS AT ALL -- neither the elected members of Congress nor the bureaucrats in the Executive Branch chose which special regional or local projects are going to be funded, BECAUSE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS NOT GOING TO FUND ANY BRIDGES, ROADS, RESEARCH PROJECTS, DOMESTIC ABUSE CENTERS, AT ALL. None! Nada. And we mean it.

This is a credible political position to take -- but McCAIN AND PALIN OUGHT TO BE HONEST ABOUT IT.

Saying no federal money for anything of this nature at all -- well, that would be "straight talk" -- but we are not getting straight talk on this at all.

In conclusion, IF (and that is a genuine IF) the feds are going to fund roads and bridges and research and buildings and post offices and safehouses and anything like that at all, then THERE HAS TO BE A WAY FOR THOSE WE THOUGHT WE ELECTED TO MAKE THESE DECISIONS to make them -- and, friends, they are called "earmarks" -- where our elected representatives say "this money is earmarked for that federal project."

I myself think the problem is not earmarks as such, but how to get (a) common sense, (b) a little bit of wisdom, and most of all (c) TRANSPARENCY in the system -- coupled with far more Congressional oversight on earmarks. How about HEARINGS ON EARMARKS, maybe abbreviated, maybe quick, but a Congressional record of actually having the body as a whole consider them.

We would call this legislatitng.

At least look at the pork barrel or earmark spending by Obama. Obama has professed change however their is not intelligent analysis in this article about that. It is disturbing to see an article that tries to shape a voter's viewpoint to one side. It's called manipulation not analysis. Let's look into the Reszko case how Obama bought a house for $500,000 under the market price. CAN YOU SAY BRIBE.

John seems to relish playing like he has been some type of Angel during his many years in public office when this is not always so. Lets return the discussion to the Republican George Bush Administration, all of the misdeeds, blunders and deceptions that has been visible to us all and that McCain has supported the Bush Team's involvement in. We can not just forget these disasterous things that have happened under the Bush Watch, it is not like Water Under The Dam where it can be forgotten and blanked out of our memories. McCain had his July Campaign Reorganization where re-designed his campaign to where he is now saying "He Is The Change Guy" and has new ideas after his long time of being "The Establishment Republican Guy". Lets have McCain and the Republicans answer to the American People on how they tampered with our civil liberties, economy and so many other things since January 2001. McCain can not Slip and Slide on his efforts and involvements during this time frame......Do not hide, John!!!!!

The problem with this county isn't sexual/violent video games, tv and movies, its not the drugs, or the alcohol, homosexuality or any of that; the problem with this county is the majority of people in this country will believe any thing they can hear or see produced by the mass media.

I guess it will never cease to amaze me that people were duped by the "War of the Worlds" broadcast, and then started believing every thing they saw on TV, and now can't see through the lies on the internet.

Obama hasn't brought up these issues, McCain has. You can't critize someone, no matter how right you are, and not be willing to have the same criticizm *sp* brought back to your own house. I give a lot of respect for Obama for going on O'Riley. When will McCain and Palin go on Countdown or Rachel Maddaux's show? And I know what you will say, it's because Bill O is a good journalist with no bias stance and represents truth and light whereas Olberman and Maddaux are too busy filling their horns down and having their tails removed.

I have been a big supporter of Palin's rights as a candidate to say what she believes. That her family and personal life should be out of bounds. I will fight for Palin's and McCain's right to their own lives and beliefs. I take exception at their actions, not them as individuals. But I suppose you will have a hard time understanding that!

When John and Sarah get elected, they'll cut all those just nasty pork barrels out of the budget. It'll save the tax payers at leat a couple of billion. I mean how much is the budget anyways a trillion or two? That's a whole one percent. And they'll drill baby drill and that will make gas prices go down in ten or twenty years by at least a nickel or two. And when Sarah gets her little pipeline done in Alaska in ten years that will be just great. You can't underestimate this girl. She's commander and chief of the Alaska national guard for crying out loud. So what if she doesn't know anything about anything really. It doesn't matter. She has all those kiddos. And John. That great Mr. McCain. So what he's old and grouchy. It doesn't matter. It's just our future that hangs in the balance. I get all the information I need from those great informational television ads. I mean Mr. Obamas trying to teach kindergartners how to have sex and he wears lipstick and he hangs out with flirty whores like Britney and Paris. How can anyone vote for that I don't know. And he'll raise our taxes. I love my country, but don't make me pay for anything of it. You jerk democrats. I need to go to church now and pray someones gay away. Go Republicans. We are so much more moral than any of you and we keep the country safe. We go to other countries and start wars there for no reason. And maybe just maybe Sarah can go to war with Russia and we'll finally have our rarmageddon. toodles.

What is distressing is the extent to which this campaign does not back off their untruths in the face of video of their own words, or evidence of their own past deeds. Such blatancy is reckless, and a terrifying picture of what a McCain administration would do. In this way, they are following the current administration's playbook to the letter.

Logically, you vote for those who can best serve you. There is nothing and I mean absolutely nothing in the McCain-Palin platform that helps me in the least. Just look at it, a failing financial policy with out-of-control debt and trade imbalances, two wars that are draining us. We are talking about missile bases in Poland and the Czech Republic and confronting Russia in Georgia. Don't forget about the Axis of Evil that must be dealt with, i.e., Iran and North Korea. Tax breaks for the wealthy and the corporate while income is stagnant for the middle and lower classes. A government that allows corporate America to offshore tens of thousands of our technical jobs to foreign countries. Just think of the damage that a McCain and Palin victory can do to the Supreme Court.

I just don't understand America. I find it hard to believe that while most of you complain about the economy and American being on the wrong track, you are willing to step up to the Republican plate and sign back onto another eight years.

There is a huge disconnect somewhere that I can not understand. If someone is shoving a stick in my eye, I want them to stop. I certainly wouldn't ask them to continue for another eight years.

Yes - this is a good topic. It is stealing money from each and every family in America. We work hard and we don't need a lot of the stuff Pelosi and Reid are forcing on us. Pelosi is so stupid when it comes to drill drill drill and Obama sits idly by as she buddies up to lobbyists. This is costing you and me lots of money. We pay at the pump and we pay more on our taxes due to the irrational spending by the Democrats. I am happy to see someone who will veto such reckless spending and that is John McCain.

Source: The BBC NEWS

Thu, 09/11/2008 -

McCain and the Republican Party are always touting the "Surge" & "Victory" and I for one am very Glad Patraeus made this statement...

Because it Dispells this Republican "Victory" Bull-Spit !!!

General David Petraeus will leave his post as commander of US troops in Iraq, taking over US Central Command. As the chief of Central Command, the four-star general will oversee the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This week, General Petraeus discussed progress in Iraq and the possibility of victory. Check out these highlights from his interview with BBC, which airs tonight.

On whether US troops could withdraw from Iraq by the middle of next year: It's "doable."

On whether he will ever declare victory in Iraq:

"This is not the sort of struggle where you take a hill, plant the flag, and go home to a victory parade . . . it's not war with a simple slogan."

On his new role of overseeing Afghanistan at US Central Command: "The trends in Afghanistan have not gone in the right direction . . . and that had to be addressed." Afghanistan remains a "hugely important endeavor."

On progress made by the surge: Petraeus said that recent security gains were "not irreversible" and that the US still faced a "long struggle."

Provincial elections supposed to take place this year, but still waiting on parliamentary approval, will test stability in Iraq. If the Iraq war doesn't lend itself to the traditional notion of victory, how will the US know when it's time to leave?

Some Democratic leaders including Obama but not Joe Leiberman have asked what have we accomplished in Iraq?

John McCain was right in his support for the Iraq surge. Iraq today is in relative peace and is no longer hostile to the United States. Iraq is currently producing two and a half million barrels of oil a day and is capable of producing four and half million barrels a day. At $120 one hundred and twenty dollars a barrel Iraq has current oil revenues of $300 three hundred million dollars a day. Those revenues can grow to $500 million dollars a day with increased production. Thanks to the John McCain support of the war and the surge $300 million dollars a day are not being funneled to enemies of the United States to support terrorism around the world and to buy missiles and nuclear weapons that can be used against the United States. With an income stream of three hundred million dollars a day, Iraq was capable of purchasing hundreds of nuclear weapons. Our current progress with North Korea on nuclear issues is a result of cutting off the money flow and purchase of missiles and nuclear technology from North Korea to Iraq.

When the US legislature appropriates money for areas like transportation infrastructure improvements to the states, it does so in large single block grants. Individual legislators can currently designate certain individual projects or “earmarks” as being a part of these projects.

So for example, if your state was appropriated 10 million dollars for transportation projects, and your state senator “earmarked” a certain pet project of one million dollars, you state would receive the one million for the earmarked project, and 9 million for the general transportation funding, to be divided up by either the state department of transportation of the state legislature, according to state priorities.

If the state decided it did not want the project specifically earmarked, the earmarked funds do not, and can not, go back to the US treasury, they go back to the basic state block grant, to be prioritized by the state .

Lets stop this politicizing and half truths about what is a very straightforward process.

Psychiatrist Confirms: Liberalism Is a Mental Disorder

As a clinical and forensic psychiatrist, Lyle Rossiter has treated over 1,500 patients and examined over 2,700 civil and criminal cases. Turning his hand to political psychopathology, the author of The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness, has diagnosed an alarming percentage of the population as suffering from the grotesque form of mental derangement known by some as moonbattery.

Among Rossiter's observations:

Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded. Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave.

A social scientist who understands human nature will not dismiss the vital roles of free choice, voluntary cooperation and moral integrity ??? as liberals do. A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population ??? as liberals do. And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which over-regulates and over-taxes the nation's citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state ??? as liberals do.

The roots of liberalism ??? and its associated madness ??? can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind. When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious.

Basically liberalism is a willful failure to mature beyond adolescence that can have catastrophic consequences for society. With luck, the official diagnosis of this disease by a mental health professional will facilitate the search for a cure.

NOBAMA!!!

There will be a lot of detailed and technical opinions given explaining why America’s financial industry is in chaos but there really are only two reasons, simply greed and government neglect. Everything else is just a distraction from recognizing those two issues and to avoid laying the blame where it rightfully belongs. The run away greed by factions of the market, unchecked, uncontrolled and in fact encouraged by a government placating and patronizing Special Interests and a select few allowed this to happen and now the average American will pay the bill in so very many ways. The government’s responsibility is to protect the people yet our government focuses on allowing the market place to run free without adequate checks and balances, actually with encouragement for the full pursuit of their greed and with no concern for protecting the people’s interests. We have seen this occur several times with savings and loans, with banks, with hi-tech, now with investment banks and there have been other occasions, always the same, with the cycle of insatiable run away greed and then with government only acting after it is too late. The government rationalizes that they are facilitating free markets but in reality, as we have just seen again, they are being irresponsible for the benefit of a few and costing us greatly. We have an election coming and hopefully people will think of this when voting.

Dick Cavett:

Back here in the past, when I’m writing this, we have just seen part one of her quizzing by Charles Gibson, with mixed reviews for both. So far I have not seen her confronted with some of the things about which she has been, to put it in that awful Diplomatically Correct phrase, "somewhat less than fully truthful." (Typesetter: If space is scarce, use "lying.") As in claiming "no thanks" to the bridge money while failing to disclose that she kept it.

Michael Cooper and Jim Rutenberg:

In an interview Friday on the NY1 cable news channel, a McCain supporter, Senator Orrin G. Hatch of Utah, called "ridiculous" the implication that Mr. Obama’s "lipstick on a pig" comment was a reference to Ms. Palin, whom he also defended as coming under unfair attack.

"The last month, for sure," said Don Sipple, a Republican advertising strategist, "I think the predominance of liberty taken with truth and the facts has been more McCain than Obama."

AP: Oy.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain on Friday defended two debunked television ads attacking Democrat Barack Obama and claimed erroneously that running mate Sarah Palin never sought money for lawmakers' pet projects as Alaska governor.

Palin sought $197 million in so-called "earmarks" for 2009. In the previous budget year, she asked for earmarks worth $256 million.

WaPo Ad Analysis:

McCain Wraps Distortions Around One Truth.

The spot is accurate in saying the Obama campaign called Palin a liar

Andy Barr:

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has taken a more aggressive line of attack this week.

He has repeatedly hit his rivals for being dishonest about their portrayal of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R) record of reform.

Seattle Times News Service: Palin is still lying.

Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska declined to back away from her declarations about her role in quashing the "Bridge to Nowhere," insisting Friday she had helped kill the earmark project.

LA Times: McCain still lying about Palin.

John McCain got it wrong Friday when he asserted that his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, had not requested any earmarks, the spending directives lawmakers insert in spending bills that McCain has vowed to eliminate.

Palin, in fact, requested $198 million in federal earmarks in February, including such expenses as $487,000 to fight obesity in Alaska and $4 million to develop recreational trails.

Jay Bookman: "McCain still peddles Palin mythology"

Charles Krauthammer: Everyone is wrong about Sarah Palin and her gaffe about not knowing squat about the Bush Doctrine and foreign policy. I should know. I'm an expert when it comes to anything else I choose to write about, but believe me, I am an expert on situational truth (briefly defined as "it's okay if you're one of us.")

About Dr. Phillip Butler

Doctor Phillip Butler is a 1961 graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a former light-attack carrier pilot. In 1965 he was shot down over North Vietnam where he spent eight years as a prisoner of war.

After his repatriation in 1973 he earned a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California at San Diego and became a Navy Organizational Effectiveness consultant.

He completed his Navy career in 1981 as a professor of management at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

Former POW says McCain is "Not cut out to be President"

"To see McCain resort to playing the POW card when answering legitimate questions, in my mind, cheapens that experience. And by cheapening his own experience in war, he degrades all of our experiences in war.

He turns the horrific incidents we've all seen, touched, smelled, and felt into a lame excuse to earn political points. And it dishonors us all."

-- Brandon Friedman, a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan

John McCain has been exploiting his prisoner of war experience every chance he gets. He has used this story to justify everything from not knowing how many homes he has to his healthcare plan to his marital infidelities to his taste in music.

The McCain campaign is even using his POW story in paid ads. But now a veteran who was a prisoner with McCain in Vietnam is explaining loud and clear that being a POW does not qualify McCain to lead our country.

We are sure this video will draw an onslaught of right-wing attacks, but we bring it to you because it is our job to continue to convey the truth together and give these issues national attention.

Also, you don't state his efforts on behalf of the credit card companies of which his son is a lobbyist. He voted down 3 versions of the revised bankruptcy bill because the credit companies were going to be the big losers. Now, instead it's millions of Americans who are now being forced to file. So, stop the Palin bashing in regards to the issue of earmarks... unless you want to start telling the truth about the Democratic ticket and Senator Biden in particular. Oh did you forget to say that he's been in the Senate several years longer than McCain and he's for change.....

(Part 2 of 2)

There are many qualities to military service that make it such a special profession. But among the most important is the ABILITY TO GET THINGS DONE NO MATTER HOW DIFFICULT, CONFUSED OR UNEXPECTED THE SITUATION. There is an old military maxim that battle plans never survive the first encounter with the enemy. Soldiers are taught to EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED and accept it, and revise, improvise, and fight their way through any adversity. That doesnt mean the soldier doesnt grumble or complain about unexpected changes in their fortunes, but they are TRAINED TO GET THINGS DONE NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

Thursday, April 03, 2008

(Part 1 of 2)

JOHN MCCAIN - Naval Executive Experience / Leadership

Every once in a while during the primary, we would hear someone note that John McCain had no executive experience, that he had never managed anything. That is not quite accurate; he has no executive or managerial experience in the POLITICAL REALM. He did, HOWEVER, have an EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP POSITION IN THE NAVY, and he will describe that today at his campaign stop in Jacksonville:

JOHN MCCAIN: When I came to Cecil Field and eventually assumed command of VA 174, the LARGEST SQUADRON IN THE NAVY, the state of military readiness in the United States was very low. And my squadrons readiness was no exception. We had about FIFTY PLANES, and nearly half of them were in such bad shape they had been grounded. I was DETERMINED TO IMPROVE THE SITUATION, but I knew my own determination wouldnt be sufficient to do so. I struck a DEAL WITH MY SUPERIORS that if they allowed me to MOVE PARTS FROM ONE PLANE TO ANOTHER, before my tour was finished we would have every one of them in the air.

No plan to restore the squadrons readiness could have succeeded without the extraordinary determination and resourcefulness of the PILOTS, STAFF AND CREW I served with. They numbered NEARLY A THOUSAND, and they were as highly committed, hardworking, innovative people as any officer ever had the honor to command. They worked diligently toward a common goal, and took pride in the achievements of a team and didnt view individual accomplishment as the primary focus of their energy. Of course, the squadrons purpose was to train aviators, but the men and women of VA 174 knew that they were serving a greater purpose: to demonstrate the resolve of the United States Navy to overcome the decline in morale and readiness that temporarily afflicted the military after the Vietnam War.

On the LAST DAY OF MY COMMAND, my Executive Officer and friend, Carl Smith, kept my promise to my superiors and TOOK OFF IN THE LAST OF THE SQUADRONS GROUNDED planes. The plane was barely ready for the test and flew with its landing gear down. But we had achieved our goal. We had gotten every airplane off the ground, SET A RECORD for the longest flying hours WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT, and received the first MERITORIOUS UNIT CITATION ever awarded VA 174. The experience was the most rewarding assignment of my Navy career.

MCCAIN: A Commander Ready to Lead

VIDEO: http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1185143625/bctid1761979374

McCain was revered by many on the base: Testimonials

Carl M. Smith - fellow officer, Cecil Field:

John was a commander who did not attempt to tell people how to do jobs (no micro-management) . . . instead he picked PEOPLE HE HAD CONFIDENCE IN and INSPIRED them to rise to the highest level of their own ability.

Sharleen Hollenback, Navy enlistee under McCain:

* He was a very ACCESSIBLE person

*  He was very KIND

* He CARED ABOUT THE PEOPLE that worked in his Squadron

* I very much ADMIRED him and felt like was part of something very important in that squadron.

Carl M. Smith - fellow officer, Cecil Field:

John would talk to the Sr. chief and KID him, given him a hard time, saying things like ‘what about your behavior chief?, what about your drinking?, huh, huh, huh?’ . . .which would rock them back on their heels while the rest of the crew and shop WATCHED IN FASCINATION at how McCain was interacting with their chief petty officer.

That was part of his unorthodox HANDS-ON STYLE. John was not one to cloister himself away in his office on the 2nd floor of the Squadrons airplane hanger.

Carl M. Smith - fellow officer, Cecil Field:

Instead, on a DAILY basis he would WALK THROUGH the maintenance spaces, all the functional shops on THE BASE. He would go though the engine shop, the hydraulic shop, the fuel shop, the weapons shop - every one of them. He would GO IN AND TALK TO ALL the folks in the shops.

Jim Lichtenwalter - fellow office, Cecil Field:

I just think that he did a great job of making himself understand what other peoples jobs were and what their responsibilities were. . .

In its heyday in the Vietnam era, Cecil Field was buzzing with THOUSANDS OF NAVY OFFICERS ENLISTEES, AND THEIR FAMILIES.

J. B. Renninger, former Navy Pilot at Cecil Field:

You would have anywhere from 10 - 12 aircrafts in a pattern at any one time, doing touch and go’s

We would operate from 7am one morning thru 2am or 3 am into the NEXT morning. It was a very ACTIVE BASE then.

Cecil Field was John McCains last posting with the Naval Squadron, but one that would CARRY RELEVANCE today as HE LOOKS TO LEAD OUR COUNTRY.

MCCAIN: A Commander Ready To Lead

In the Spring of 1975, John S. McCain was promoted from 2nd in Command and then on to Commanding Officer (CO). As Commanding Officer, John McCain led the largest squadron in the United States Navy Air Squadron, a massive Unit at Cecil Field in Jacksonville FLA.

McCain was responsible for running a squadron made up of 1,000 personnel and a fleet of 75 jets - which is equivalent to being a CEO of a small corporation. His squadrons mission there at Cecil Field was to get pilots trained and to maintain attack jets called A7s.

At Cecil Field, there were always 10 - 12 aircrafts in a pattern at any one time.

Cecil Field was a very active base, with operating hours from 7am one morning thru 2am or 3 am into the next morning.

A review of Navy records and interviews with more than a dozen of John McCains former colleagues paint a picture of a Commander who was lionized by his troops as a war hero and respected by aviators as being a fair and effective manager of his squadron; and he was fiercely loyal to those who worked for him.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

As commanding officer (C.O.) McCain had ultimate authority over his Unit, and was given a wide latitude within the bounds of military law. In this role as CO, McCain had significant responsibilities, duties and powers as the leader of his squadron.

There will now be a lot of detailed and technical opinions given to explain why America’s financial industry is in chaos but there really are only two reasons, simply greed and government neglect. We have seen this occur several times with savings and loans, with banks, with hi-tech, now with investment banks and there have been other occasions, always the same, with the cycle of insatiable run away greed and then with government acting only after it is too late. The government rationalizes that they are facilitating free markets but in reality, as we have just seen again, they are being irresponsible for the benefit of a few and costing us greatly. We have an election coming and hopefully people will think of this when voting.

The facts speak for themselves. MCCAIN, not Obama, has the MOST Bipartisan legislature record by far. Below is an excerpt from an article detailing a comparison of McCains and Obamas record. - sharenews

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

The Washington Times

Records Show McCain More Bipartisan

By Stephen Dinan

Monday, September 15, 2008

ANALYSIS:

Sen. John McCains RECORD of working with Democrats EASILY OUTSTRIPS Sen. Barack Obamas efforts with Republicans, according to an analysis by The Washington Times of their LEGISLATIVE RECORDS.

Whether looking at bills they have led on or bills they have signed onto, Mr. MCCAIN has REACHED ACROSS THE AISLE FAR MORE FREQUENTLY and with more members than Mr. Obama since the latter came to the Senate in 2005.

In fact, by several measures, Mr. MCCAIN HAS BEEN MORE LIKELY to team up with Democrats than with members of his own party. Democrats made up 55 PERCENT of his political partners over the last two Congresses, including on the TOUGH ISSUES of campaign finance and global warming. For Mr. OBAMA, Republicans were only 13 PERCENT OF HIS CO-SPONSORS during his time in the Senate, and he had his biggest bipartisan successes on NON-CONTROVERSIAL MEASURES, such as issuing a postage stamp in honor of civil rights icon Rosa Parks.

With calls for CHANGE IN WASHINGTON dominating the campaign, both Mr. Obama, the Democrats presidential nominee, and Mr. McCain, his Republican opponent, have claimed the mantle of BIPARTISANSHIP.

But since 2005, Mr. MCCAIN HAS LED AS CHIEF SPONSOR OF 82 bills, on which he had 120 Democratic co-sponsors out of 220 total, for an AVERAGE of 55 PERCENT. He worked with Democrats on 50 of his bills, and of those, 37 times Democrats outnumber Republicans as co-sponsors.

Mr. Obama, meanwhile, sponsored 120 bills, of which REPUBLICANS CO-SPONSORED JUST 26, and on ONLY FIVE BILLS did Republicans outnumber Democrats. Mr. Obama gained 522 total Democratic co-sponsors BUT ONLY 75 REPUBLICANS, for an average of 13 percent of his co-sponsors.

More . . .

Awakening obviously had a whole lot more to do with that and it started well before the surge. Now the surge didn't hurt and probably helped support the Awakening but the surge by itself very likely would have failed, even with more troops and especially over the long term, and possibly the Awakening may have even worked by itself. Senator Lieberman's efforts are again just more of the political shell game, trying to manipulate public opinion. Lieberman is apparently putting all of his eggs in McCain's basket and very likely will need to become a Republican after this election.

Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary,

That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program,

That the money the participants elected to put Into the Program would be deductible from Their income for tax purposes each year,

That the money the participants put into the Independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would Only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and

That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income. Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and if we get a Social Security check every month we are finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government and now to Dwight Eisenhower

34th. President, Republican,

in 1958 the first year that Congress voted to remove funds from Social Security and put it into the General Fund for Congress to spend.

If I recall correctly, it was a democratically Controlled Congress. And From what I understand, the Congress logic at that time was that there was so much money in Social Security Fund that it would never run out / be used up for the purpose it was intended / set aside for. Then comes Lyndon Johnson 36th.President,a Democrat

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the Independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the General Fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson a Democrat, and the democratically Controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax Deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party. Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Albert Gore, Jr. (Al Gore) casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S. Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving Annuity payments to immigrants?

A: That's right! (Jimmy Carter) a Democrat, and the Democratic Party. Voted to give

Immigrants who moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! TheDemocratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it! Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!

If enough people read this, maybe a seed of Awareness will be planted and maybe changes will

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

SEPTEMBER 18, 2008 Obama Needs to Sell Himself,

Not Attack McCain

By KARL ROVE

Be careful not to assign too much scientific precision to polls. They arent as accurate as portrayed. But SEVERAL different SURVEYS at roughly the SAME TIME that SHOW SIMILAR RESULTS are useful guides. So three trends in recent polls MUST WORRY Sen. Barack OBAMA and encourage Sen. John McCain.

First, an AVERAGE OF SEVEN NATIONAL POLLS the week before the Democratic convention showed Mr. Obama leading Mr. McCain by two points. By the middle of the next week, Mr. Obamas lead had climbed to almost eight points. Now, nearly two weeks later, Mr. McCain has a lead of roughly two points. Since the middle of the GOP convention, ONE OUT OF EVERY 10 voters has CHANGED THEIR PREFERENCE . . . a significant movement this late in the campaign.

That movement comes, in part, from GAINS Mr. McCain has made on personal LEADERSHIP attributes. In the latest Washington Post/ABC poll, for example, he LENGTHENED HIS LEAD on the question of who would be a BETTER COMMANDED-IN-CHIEF (he is now AHEAD BY 45 points). He is also seen as the STRONGER LEADER, and as the MORE HONEST and TRUSTWORTHY candidate. Meanwhile, Mr. Obama saw his lead on who would BRING needed CHANGE DROP by 20 points.

The same survey found that 48% of Americans consider Mr. OBAMA UNQUALIFIED FOR THE PRESIDENCY, virtually unchanged from 46% in March and June. When Fox News asked voters whom they would ask for ADVICE FOR THE TOUGHEST DECISION in their life, voters favored Mr. MCCAIN by a 50% to 34% margin.

There is a similar pattern on issues. Both the Fox News and Washington Post/ABC polls showed Mr. MCCAINs advantages GREW ON TERROR, IRAQ and UNEXPECTED MAJOR CRISIS. . . while he ERASED Mr. OBAMAs EDGE ON ENERGY, and CUT THE DEMOCRATs LEAD on both the ECONOMY and the DEFICIT to acceptable levels.

Perhaps most surprising of all, FIVE RECENT NATIONAL POLLS have shown a significant tightening in party identification, ERODING a big LEAD Democrats have enjoyed since 2006.

How durable are these changes? We dont know. But OPINIONS SOLIDIFY as an election approaches, and this one is now only 47 DAYS AWAY.

More . . .

The Gramm-Leach-Biley Act stripped away the regulations separating banking from investment companies, insurance companies and mortgage guaranty companies. Those regulations were added after the Great Depression when it became obvious that allowing banks to be in bed with the stock market was a sure way to rig the system to collapse, as it did in 1929.

Lo an behold, a few years after the regulations were removed, the sh!t has hit the fan, and the inter-related investment, insurance, mortgage and banking industries are now starting to collapse, and guess what, you, the taxpayer will have to pay to clean it up.

Phil Gramm is the Senator who brought you the "Enron Loophole" that de-regulated futures trading, causing the prices of oil, gas and food to spiral out of control.

Senator Phil Gramm was McCain's top economic advisor until recently, when he was forced to step down after he said that there is no problem with our economy other than a "mental recession" on the part of a "nation of whiners." Phil Gramm is the man who McCain said he wants to name Secretary of the Treasury if he becomes President. You have to believe John McCain when he says that he knows little about the economy -- so little that he doesn't even know who to choose as an advisor.

Barack Obama addressed the Enron Loophole, futures trading, short-selling and Wall Street de-regulation months ago in his economic position papers, which are available on his website. Obama has been saying all along that he is going to put in strict regulations and clean up Wall Street.

McCain just started saying that he favors regulation in the past couple of weeks. How is it that McCain is going to put in new regulations, when he plans to appoint Phil Gramm, the man who caused the de-regulation, as Secretary of the Treasury? McCain says he would fire Christopher Cox, the SEC Chairman, to solve the problem. However, the problem is caused by lack of regulations on the legislative level, regulations that were removed before Cox was appointed. The SEC can only enforce regulations that actually exist, so making a scapegoat of Cox solves nothing. I would suggest that McCain is guilty of saying what's politically expedient, that he does not actually intend to regulate the banking industry. McCain knows that most Americans are unaware of the details.

I am a middle-aged white conservative Republican who loves America. I am voting for Barack Obama.

I follow a economist named bob proctor who has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.

He perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown ,and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years

Is terrifying. He thinks it could get worse then the great depression.

Banks in the US are going under one after the other. Country wide the largest morgage bank in the world

Bear Stearns and Lehman brothers , and Merrill Lynch which are 3 out of the top 5 wall street firms.

And now Fanny and Freddy which hold 50 percent of the home loans in the United States.

The goverment took them over because they are essentially bankrupt.

If they didn't the entire financially system would virtually shut down, the stock market would crash

And we would suffer beyond what any of us have seen before

The future of these companies will fall into the hands of our next president

Lehman, Merill Lynch, and Bear Sterns have survived for over 150 years and survived even the great depression

They are important because the are the biggest engines of growth in america and

they are connected to almost everything.

The last time the real estate market numbers looked this bad was during

The great depression and real estate often leads the way into major economic recessions.

Bush just like Mcain doesn't understand the economy.

That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix itHe does not understand exactly what is broken. Its no surprise that he doesnt. The people that make up these securities use complex math models very few people understand. They are basically bundles of thousand of loans some good and some bad that are then given rules based on complex math. It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this, and the same things bush and mcain have done for the last 8 years

Have not worked so far and wont work in the future.

if you do what you have always done then you will do get what you have always got

90 percent of the time they have voted the same.

Please don't just take my word for it Start to read up on some of this yourself. MSN money, elliot wave and, bloomberg Have tons of articles That prove we are in the heading into one of the worst economies any one has ever seen. So why are the polls even close then ?

The chairman of mcains campaign recently said that people don't vote on issues

they vote on a personality composite which means. He is trying to sell personality instead of results. He believes people will vote against there own self interests.

Lets teach him we are smarter then that and elect the ticket that can

bring us back from the brink of a economic abyss.Mcain admits in the year 2008 he cannot use a computer even to send email. It impossible then that he understands how to help us. its time to wake up now while it will still help

How crazy they are that Mccain would actually be a better choice than Obama, voting on personality rather than fact and evidence, I geuss some people are just insane. And as for IwillnotvoteObama do you even listen to yourself? You pretty much contradicted yourself in the same comment. First you say that when a republican president was in office, Social security funds were brought into federal funding. then in the same comment, you say a democratic president was in office when social security was brought into federal funding. I mean, I have a brother who's 9, and even he didn't get that. Maybe you should go back to school, just a suggestion.

More Lobbyists On McCain Staff Than Any Other 08 Candidate

John McCain, who made his name attacking special interests, has more lobbyists working on his staff or as advisers than any of his competitors, Republican or Democrat.

A Huffington Post examination of the campaigns of the top three presidential candidates in each party shows that lobbyists are playing key roles in both Democratic and Republican bids --although they are far more prevalent on the GOP side. But, all the campaigns pale in comparison to McCain's, whose rhetoric stands in sharp contrast to his conduct.

"Too often the special interest lobbyists with the fattest wallets and best access carry the day when issues of public policy are being decided," McCain asserts on his web site, declaring that he "has fought the 'revolving door' by which lawmakers and other influential officials leave their posts and become lobbyists for the special interests they have aided."

In actual practice, at least two of McCain's top advisers fit precisely the class of former elected officials he criticizes so sharply. On March 7, 2007, McCain named ex-Texas Representative Tom Loeffler, who has one of the most lucrative and influential practices in the nation's capital, as his campaign co-chair. In the same month, McCain named former Washington Sen. Slade Gorton, now a heavyweight lobbyist, as his honorary chairman for Washington state.

Loeffler's client list includes PhRMA, the drug industry association; Southwest Airlines; Toyota; and Martin Marietta. Gorton represents, among others, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp., Weyerhaeuser and Fidelity National Financial

Then there is the current financial crisis here at home (with global impact) with the humongous tax payer sponsored bailout, simply caused and allowed by unchecked and uncontrolled greed. Even with the costly bailout it is unclear how much further the crisis and the drastically negative impact on our economy will go. The government is now committed to the heavy costs, necessitated only because the attitude all along has been for large scale deregulation in encouraging open markets and benefiting mainly Special Interests and a select few. The bailout itself again costs the average American while it really saves the big money people and may still leave us exposed to dire states. Once more it is a problem that is being left to the next president.

Will we ever learn from our mistakes? I don’t support the need for a big brother or for a large intrusive style government but it seems very obvious that a government offering more protection for the people and real checks and balances on the powerful is desperately needed; government is actually suppose to do for the people that which they can’t do for themselves, instead of just rationalizing benefiting a select few. This presidential election is our chance to prove we have learned from our mistakes by not electing someone who has supported these passed failed policies, by not electing someone who is committed to continue with more of the same, by not electing someone who again would be just a puppet for Special Interests and a select few, by not electing someone who offers just change rhetoric, much as GWBush did, but rather by electing someone who has the intellect and commitment to offer real change that benefits all of the people. Whatever anyone’s biases, prejudices and emotional attachments tell them, the reality is that Obama-Biden fills the bill and McCain-Palin does not.
