Perhaps they have to say things like "literally", after nearly eight years of an administration, and a Republican party, that lies through their teeth, and the media, in what's supposed to be "even-handedness", does not call them on it.

No wonder the "real news" media is rapidly loosing audience and mindshare, and the "fake news", like the Daily Show, gains the reputation of the "most trusted news source".

how about more analysis of each candidate's plans rather than their style? We ask why a populace would still support a liar after he is exposed as one...it's because our beacons of truth - the media are not focusing on what's important and telling us what we need to know....come on guys, we really dont have much time left to be analysing stylistic stuff...let's get to the real stuff....each candidate's plans, and their rationale for their recommendations....get experts from both persuasions, offer up their arguments, make it simplify it for us regular folk....enough with the pageantry...this is the elections, not American idol,

Oh, its so good to have such tongue in cheek humor. I love Joe Biden, too.

And Barack Obama is developing before our eyes these last two years in an amazing way. This campaign is making the raw and amazing stuff that was Barack into a man who is a complex, charismatic, powerful communicator and leader. He is building off the best of Joe Biden and all of the people around him. He is not a god or a messiah, but he is sure something new that can possibly take us through the eye of the needle and a new century. My family, not ones to speak a lot about elections, do talk about being a little hopeful for the first time since Robert Kennedy.

Would it surprise you to know that only seven of Obama's top twenty Senate staff positions are filled by women (McCain has thirteen of twenty) and women on Obama’s staff earn 83 cents for each dollar his male staffers are paid. (McCain pays his female staffers $1.04 for each dollar he pays to his men).?

I happen to have been born and raised in the Wilmington, DE vicinity. I have to tell you all, that it is not just a "Biden-ism" it is a a kind of conversational signature from that part of the country. It was a huge kind of verbal habit while I was in high school, one that my parents attempted to get me to stop. But kids at every school, of every gender and socio-economic strata spoke the same way. They would define the veracity of the claim or statement about to be made. Almost the way a commedian does the same thing on stage when about to tell a joke..... "no kidding, folks..... my wife is so large or my mother-in-law is so mean...." along those lines.

And I swear this is true, my hand to God, if I'm lying I'm dying, and I mean this only in the best possible way......

.... that's just the way some Delaware/PA natives talk.

No big deal.

As Whitwroth, below, notes, much of this is I think born of a kind of frustration. The American people simply nod away at whatever face harangues them from thier TV screen, and have come to expect from politicians what they want from the movies, and truth be damned. Thus Sarah Palin; Matt Damon nailed this sad bit oif business by calling it "bad Disney," unkowledgable but good hearted (and perky!) hockey mom to the rescue (of the US! The globe! but not the polars bears!); George Bush posed in a flight suit on the deck of a carrier parked in San Fancisco bay (albeit it had to be turned around so folks wouldn't realize just how far the Commander had "flown." George Bush posed in Baghdad with a plastic turkey. Etc.

In the post -Bush world, the reliance on "REALLY!" is to try--usually vainly, from what I see--to recall the days of yore when America was to a far greater degree what a Bush official sneeringly referred to as "the reality-based community."

Incidentally, one Ralph Nader served up some very valuable opinions in regard to the, ummm, corrections taking place on Wall Street. Imagine a blog devoted to, say, "opinions voiced by people who've actually studied the man issues for years and are willing to say the unpopular thing," as opposed to parsing the sentences of professional gabblers in attempt to decode .... well, what, I'm not exactly sure.

No worries, Joe Biden will have his time in the spotlight soon. I have to say that after listening to the other three candidates speeches, Joe Biden's consistently are the most entertaining and satisfying. He is a classic politician, knows his craft, and really speaks with passion. He's under the media radar screen at the moment but let no one doubt it he's doing damn good work.

He is a force to be reckoned with and will shine in the debates. Someone with a good sense of humor and excellent delivery can really do damage to their opponents and sway the crowd at the same time.

By using the adverb "as" in the second sentence of your first paragraph, you're equating " "Bidenisms" with semi-regular intervals. Instead, you might have used the preposition "at", to read:...."senator's mouth AT semi-regular intervals." But then what's an adverb here or a preposition there when you don't get the picture anyway? Go back to school!

I follow a economist named bob proctor who has called the top and bottom of every market crash since the 70s correctly.

He perfectly predicted the current real estate market meltdown ,and the picture he paints about what will happen in the next couple years

Is terrifying. He thinks it could get worse then the great depression.

Banks in the US are going under one after the other. Country wide the largest morgage bank in the world

Bear Stearns and Lehman brothers , and Merrill Lynch which are 3 out of the top 5 wall street firms.

And now Fanny and Freddy which hold 50 percent of the home loans in the United States.

The goverment took them over because they are essentially bankrupt.

If they didn't the entire financially system would virtually shut down, the stock market would crash

And we would suffer beyond what any of us have seen before

The future of these companies will fall into the hands of our next president

And all of our economic future depends on them reorganizing these companies right.

Lehman, Merill Lynch, and Bear Sterns have survived for over 150 years and survived even the great depression

They are important because the are the biggest engines of growth in america and

they are connected to almost everything.

The last time the real estate market numbers looked this bad was during

The great depression and real estate often leads the way into major economic recessions.

One out of 10 Americans is somewhere in the foreclosure process.

During the last 8 years the average person saw there salary drop instead

Of increase. These are all facts no one will argue with.

The truth is we are only in the start of the worst economy we have seen in our generation

and a very real possibility of another depression.

Bush just like Mcain doesn't understand the economy.

That not just my opinion its his own words. Not only does he not understand how to fix it

He does not understand exactly what is broken. Its no surprise that he doesnt. The people that make up these

securities use complex math models very few people understand.

They are basically bundles of thousand of loans some good and some bad that are then given rules based on quantitiative

math. It will take the best and brightest minds in the world to get us out of this, and the same things bush and mcain have done for the last 8 years

I'm a fan of Biden's style, too. I'm telling you, I mean it. But Obama has always had the ability to deliver a zinger on his own. Remember the "Annie Oakley" riff on Hillary Clinton? One of the highlights of the primaries! And I was literally in the audience in NC when Obama first delivered his "I'm telling you what" critique of the Clinton/McCain gas tax holiday proposal. That was pretty down-home, and it definitely got a reaction. But I think a lot of the style question with Obama amounts less to a question of scripting and more to a question of comfort. In fact, I think he's often better when he veers off-script and lets some of his natural humor come out. He connects well with people in those "can you believe it?" "I'm telling the truth" type moments. Just like Joe. :-)

Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary,

That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program,

That the money the participants elected to put Into the Program would be deductible from Their income for tax purposes each year,

That the money the participants put into the Independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the General operating fund, and therefore, would Only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and

That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income. Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and if we get a Social Security check every month we are finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government and now to Dwight Eisenhower

First of all I don't believe the polls stating that Obama is leading. They are bogus numbers by the news media who took interviews by democrats only. Obama was running neck to neck with McCain and I believe he still is. Secondly, Obama jumped the gun on his running mate. Biden should have stayed a senator and Obama should have chosen Hillary Clinton. Obama won the nomination because the DNC played dirty pool to Hillary Clinton by Nancy Pelosi, Reid and Dean. Reid shoul retire because he is a very bitter person and Nancy is an underhanded house speaker. Biden's mouth has gotten him in trouble recently and it will continue even if Obama is elected. I am banking on McCain to win the presidency because if not, this country is going to to into a worse depression than the one in 1929. Obama does not have the capabilites to run this country. If he had to have three days training for a debate how could he be president. McCain doesn't need training he already know what to say and what not to say.

Experience he doesn't have and never will have without complete training. He had to have three days training for this debate on Friday and McCain doesn't need to be trained. Even Bill Clinton said he would also have cancelled his debate in this situation and he knows ten times more than Obama will ever know. Obama is thinking of himself first and the country last. Because he had three days training he thinks he knows everything but Palin knows more than him. I can't wait until October 2nd for the debate with Palin and Biden. His mouth is going to get him in trouble and Palin will outshadow him.

Obama doesn't know politics at all. Former Clinton advisor's are schooling him everyday on what to say and what not to say. The economy is not in bad shape Lehman Brothers are in bad shape. People make their own mistakes by wrong decisions. Banks were giving mortgage loans to people with no money down or 5% down whereas it should have been 25% to 30% down. Now the banks are suffering because of the foreclosures and the people who made the loans do not care. They will just go back to renting. Lehman Brothers made bad decisions, executives were giving themselves out of control salaries so they have this coming to them. The executives should each pay back at least one million dollars to Lehman for their mistakes. Obama doesn't care about this situation he only cares about himself not the country. He never did like this country as a young boy. His wife Michelle belonged to a racist organization for years, Obama was a racist when he was younger and anti-american that's why he belonged to a racist church for 20 years and that's how he became friends with Ayers. He doesn't deserve to be president of this country because he is not a true American. And any one who votes for a person like him cannot be a true American themselves.

I heard Obama making his speech at Clinton's Global and he was reading it from a script that was posted in front of him and you can tell because he was looking straight ahead not like McCain who didn't need a script. Obama's script was formed by his advisor's because he can't think to make one on his own. I can't believe a college graduate especially from Harvard could be that dumb. He looked straight ahead so you can tell what he was reading from. All I can say is he has to have all his speeches copied from someone else because he can't make one up on his own.

In listening to Obama's speech he should be talking about what we need to do in this country not other countries. We already know about Global Warning. He didn't talk much about the bail out of Lehman Brothers. I don't care to hear about other countries, this is my country and I care about America. Obama is talking about Africa. I don't live in Africa and neither does he. It looked like he didn't appear in person he only read from a script posted in front of him whereas McCain talked to an audience in person and explained everything in detail. McCain is a true American Obama is not.

Finally someone who really cares about us for a CHANGE. I am a Democrat, but that does not make me deaf, dumb or blind to who is ready on day one and who isn't. There is a huge difference between reading a speech and hands on politics. If your party doesn't need you to help on a crisis, then they will not need you at all. All those who say McCain is dodging a debate, wake up and smell the coffee. The old dog is not afraid of the devil himself so why would he be afraid of Obama. At least McCain will reach out to others. Obama is just fooling himself. The dems will never let him loose on anything by himself. They will lead him by the nose and make him like it. Why do you think they didn't want Hillary? ??????? Now Biden is a loose canon and they are having to keep him contained instead of him just watching Obama like he was told to do. This dem is voting republican for the first time ever.

Hillary should have been running for the Pres. seat not Obama. This is a put up deal by the democrat party. I do not believe McCain is more of Bush but more of a caring Pres. for us and what is in our best interest. Just like Hillary not slamming the dems, he cannot slam Bush because of the republican party. Now Bill Clinton said on Larry King last night that the bailing out was done when he was pres. and we made money. One bailout made 600 million for the tax payers. But they all made money. So, McCain is trying to see that the bailout is done but want to secure our investment so we don't lose money. Glad someone who will be our next pres. is showing up to work for a change.

Dumplin: You are right in your statement. Obama has never been a true American. If you are a racist, white hating person anti-American when you were young you stay that way. Obama is a pretense wanting to walk in the shoes of MLK and making the same history. Most of the public is fooled by him but I am not and I know your not. His words hope and change came from the speeches of RFK so he doesn't own that word "change". Its a word anyone can use. Hillary and Bill Clinton used it. Obama copied from them. He also has a book on the speeches of MLK and RFK which he studied in order to know what to say on the platform. I can't believe a Harvard college graduate could be that dumb. And why would he want to be like someone else instead of being himself. Also, those polls that show him ahead of McCain in the National Polls are nothing but bogus. I listened to Rush and he found out about the interviews they do and evidently they talked to mainly black people. How he found out I don't know but Rush is smart and he gets a lot of information.
