Palin Announces Palin/McCain Ticket: Ambition, Inexperience First

From ABC News:

    "Uh-oh.

Gov. Sarah Palin is now talking about "a Palin and McCain administration."

Hilarious if it wasn't so frightening. The kind of slip made by a very young person whose ambitious fantasies all-too-easily break through her manifest inability to think before talking.

Incidentally, this has been her MO all along. From the New Yorker:

"Palin’s record as the mayor of Wasilla, a town forty miles north of Anchorage, told a somewhat different story. According to “Sarah,” a biography by Kaylene Johnson, Palin had got into politics after she befriended the man who was then mayor and his police chief at a step-aerobics class. She made them her allies and ran for City Council. Then she challenged them for control of City Hall, and drove them out. As she purged her former friends and patrons, she denounced them as “good ol’ boys,” although her takeover of Wasilla had been aided from the start by Alaska’s Republican Party establishment."

Impulsivity, an utter lack of reflectiveness and lack of basic knowledge combines with driving and unconsidered ambition to create a youthful, thoughtless grandiosity in reaction to the overwhelming whirl.

A dangerous combination at a time when wisdom, knowledge and reflectiveness are truly a necessity for our nation and our future.

Calling him a "hacker" is as bit generous, He answered (guessed) 3 security questions on her Yahoo mail account and changed her password. If you're a national celebrity, you might assume people can easily guess your birthday, zip code and where you met your husband. What does this say about her awareness of basic security?

As to the focus on personal email for public business, this is EXACTLY what the Bush folks were doing during the us attorney purge scandal, bypassing official email to have off the record discussions about potential illegal actions, that now mysteriously can't be recovered. Coupled with loyalty over experience, idealism over policy, you still wonder why she is being called "Bush II"?

As for this article, it's no mystery why Palin's ratings are falling. As Etchells900 pointed out, this woman has been under a constant assault from Obama's defacto communication arm, the mainstream media. Lies are being spread about this woman, and the media is determined to trash her reputation. It's sad that the party of inclusion and progressive thought (i.e. the Democrats) are filled with hateful, SEXIST partisans.

OK, so it's a "lie" to point out that, despite her endlessly repeated claim, she didn't say "no thanks" to the Bridge to Nowhere until it was already off the table? That she overstated her own state's energy production by a factor of six? That this self-proclaimed earmark opponent asked the feds for 2009 earmarks totaling nearly 300 bucks for every man, woman, and child in her state? That she opposes the right of a raped, pregnant woman to decide whether to carry to term? That Ms. Abstinence Only's own kid got knocked up? That she didn't even know what the Bush Doctrine is? Aside from the grandchild nonsense, just what, pray tell, are the lies you refer to?

And your charge of sexism? Don't make me laugh. Is there any doubt she got the nod in large part because she's a woman (yes, the "affirmative action" the right is always trashing) and is now whining in the full identity-group-victim mode despised by the GOP. Face it, you can put lipstick on a pit bull, but it's still an animal that can turn from cuddly pet to remorseless, senseless killer at a moment's notice.

McCain and the Republican Party are always touting the "Surge" & "Victory" and I for one am very Glad Patraeus made this statement...

Because it Dispells this Republican "Victory" Bull-Spit !!!

General David Petraeus will leave his post as commander of US troops in Iraq, taking over US Central Command. As the chief of Central Command, the four-star general will oversee the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This week, General Petraeus discussed progress in Iraq and the possibility of victory. Check out these highlights from his interview with BBC, which airs tonight.

On whether US troops could withdraw from Iraq by the middle of next year: It's "doable."

On whether he will ever declare victory in Iraq:

"This is not the sort of struggle where you take a hill, plant the flag, and go home to a victory parade . . . it's not war with a simple slogan."

On his new role of overseeing Afghanistan at US Central Command: "The trends in Afghanistan have not gone in the right direction . . . and that had to be addressed." Afghanistan remains a "hugely important endeavor."

On progress made by the surge: Petraeus said that recent security gains were "not irreversible" and that the US still faced a "long struggle."

Provincial elections supposed to take place this year, but still waiting on parliamentary approval, will test stability in Iraq. If the Iraq war doesn't lend itself to the traditional notion of victory, how will the US know when it's time to leave?

The Palin And McCain Administration: Sarah Flips The Ticket During A Rally (VIDEO)

This video from a Palin event today catches the vice presidential nominee putting herself before John McCain on the ticket. Check out the video and read more here from ABC News.

Politico's Jonathan Martin had this related report:

At a rally outside Youngstown, Ohio, Tuesday night, dozens of attendees left while McCain was still speaking.

I caught up with a few of them. Some explained that the airplane hangar where the rally was being held had grown crammed and uncomfortable. Others said they had other events or commitments to get to.

Notably, though, the exodous had only begun after Palin spoke.

Now, the same thing has happened again.

"I look up, about five minutes into McCain's address and see a steady stream of people walking out of the rally," writes Radio Iowa's Kay Henderson from a McCain-Palin event in Cedar Rapids.

The images support the view of international refugee organizations and Iraq experts that a major population shift was a key factor in the decline in sectarian violence, particularly in the Iraqi capital, the epicenter of the bloodletting in which hundreds of thousands were killed.

Minority Sunni Arabs were driven out of many neighborhoods by Shi'ite militants enraged by the bombing of the Samarra mosque in February 2006. The bombing, blamed on the Sunni militant group al Qaeda, sparked a wave of sectarian violence.

"By the launch of the surge, many of the targets of conflict had either been killed or fled the country, and they turned off the lights when they left," geography professor John Agnew of the University of California Los Angeles, who led the study, said in a statement.

The extent to which the troop build-up helped halt Iraq's slide into sectarian civil war has been debated, particularly in the United States, with supporters of the surge saying it was the main contributing factor, and others arguing it was simply one of a number of factors.
Exclusive: New Doubts Over Palin's Troopergate Claims

Internal Government Document Contradicts Sarah Palin, Campaign

By JUSTIN ROOD

Sept. 19, 2008

An internal government document obtained by ABC News appears to contradict Sarah Palin's most recent explanation for why she fired her public safety chief, the move which prompted the now-contested state probe into "Troopergate."

An internal government document obtained by ABC News appears to contradict Sarah Palin's most recent explanation for why she fired her public safety chief Walt Monegan, the move which prompted the now-contested state probe into "Troopergate."

(ABC News Photo Illustration)Fighting back against allegations she may have fired her then-Public Safety Commissioner, Walt Monegan, for refusing to go along with a personal vendetta, Palin on Monday argued in a legal filing that she fired Monegan because he had a "rogue mentality" and was bucking her administration's directives.

"The last straw," her lawyer argued, came when he planned a trip to Washington, D.C., to seek federal funds for an aggressive anti-sexual-violence program. The project, expected to cost from $10 million to $20 million a year for five years, would have been the first of its kind in Alaska, which leads the nation in reported forcible rape.

The McCain-Palin campaign echoed the charge in a press release it distributed Monday, concurrent with Palin's legal filing. "Mr. Monegan persisted in planning to make the unauthorized lobbying trip to D.C.," the release stated.

But the governor's staff authorized the trip, according to an internal travel document from the Department of Public Safety, released Friday in response to an open records request.

Palin Wants End to Probe She Requested Suit Filed to Stop Palin Troopergate Probe More from Brian Ross and the Investigative TeamThe document, a state travel authorization form, shows that Palin's chief of staff, Mike Nizich, approved Monegan's trip to Washington, D.C., "to attend meeting with Senator Murkowski." The date next to Nizich's signature reads June 18.

In response to inquiries about the document Friday, the McCain-Palin campaign provided a statement from Randy Ruaro, another aide to Palin.

According to Ruaro, Monegan asked for -- and received -- approval for the travel without telling Palin's staff his reason for going. "As a matter of routine, the travel was approved by Mike Nizich ... weeks before the actual purpose was made clear by former Commissioner Monegan," Ruaro wrote.

"When you receive permission to travel, it does not mean that you receive blanket authorization to discuss or do whatever you would like on that trip," he added.

Last week a legislative panel approved a subpoena for Nizich to be interviewed by Stephen Branchflower, the prosecutor hired to conduct the Alaska Legislature's inquiry into Troopergate. The Attorney General informed the Legislature earlier this week that Nizich and other state employees subpoenaed in the matter would not submit to interviews.

Nizich did not respond to a message left Friday afternoon.

The B!tch is a Fraud !!!

Srah Palin: The Queen Of Eramarks is challenged Bi Time regarding "Trooper Gate"

(CBS/AP) Just when it seemed the Alaska investigation into Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of a state official might have been scuttled by the pressures of presidential politics, another turn of events has kept it going.

Palin's firing of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan last July, allegedly after pressure by her, her husband and staff members on Monegan to fire her ex-brother-in-law was ignored, is at the center of the investigation (known as Troopergate) into whether Palin abused her power.

Palin originally agreed to participate in the investigation, authorized in July by the Republican-controlled legislature. She told Alaskans, "Hold me accountable." Once named to the McCain ticket, however, Palin backpedaled. She has since refused to testify.

Palin has maintained that she fired Monegan not over the status of Trooper Mike Wooten, but over budget disagreements - specifically a trip Monegan planned to Washington which she said was unauthorized.

Earlier this week the McCain campaign released a series of e-mails detailing the frustration several Palin administration officials experienced in dealing with Monegan. The "last straw," the campaign said, was a trip Monegan planned in July to seek federal money for investigating and prosecuting sexual assault cases.

Palin, saying she did not authorize the expenses for the travel, cited that trip as a primary example of the insubordination that led to Monegan's firing.

However, Palin's chief of staff did authorize the travel to Washington.

A travel authorization document signed by Palin's Chief of Staff Mike Nizich on June 18 approved Monegan's trip to Washington for the purpose of meeting Sen. Lisa Murkowski.

The document's existence was first reported by ABC News on Friday.

Monegan told ABC that the travel authorization was explicitly to pursue funding for the anti-sexual-violence program, though the document does not state that as a reason for the trip.

McCain spokesman Taylor Griffin said Friday that the travel authorization was for a routine trip, and that state commissioners regularly travel to meet members of Alaska's congressional delegation.

"He was not authorized to lobby Congress," Griffin said.

The revelation came on the same day that several individuals subpoenaed to testify in Troopergate refused to appear as ordered.

Those who refused to answer their subpoenas (including Todd Palin, the Governor's husband; Randy Ruaro, the governor's deputy chief of staff; and aide Ivy Frye) will be referred to the full Senate for contempt, said Sen. Hollis French, who is heading the investigation.

I can't even believe you would say such a thing. I don't even care what Omaar posted... If you had a problem with what he was saying have the guts to argue with him... don't just be a coward and try to discredit him by casting some vague suspicion about his what he is called. What America where you raised in? Not the same one I was apparently.

Please consider reviewing the BASICS of what it is to be an American before you posting again in public and judging someone based on their NAME. When you do such a thing, you embarrass us all.

May I suggest the classic children's program "Great American Melting Pot" in the School House Rock series... it helped me understand how America is made up of MANY cultures back when I was 8 years old... perhaps it won't be over your head.
