Why didn't you mention that while Obama had his hand in the pockets of Freddie/fannie to the tune of $150K, he voted against S.190 - the 2005 proposed legislation (co-sponsortwed by McCain) that would have brought oversight to any organizatuion involved in secondary subprime lending.

Is it because you didn't know it or you knew it and were trying to hide it from the readers of your banal, self serving, mind numbing, tripe?

hmmm... let's see, O'bama's campaign advisor was an executive of fannie and pulled down $90 MILLION in 6 years by cooking the books (that's why he's not there anymore). McCain's campaign advisor made a few hundred thousand working as a PAID LOBBYIST for same. since mccain's boy's haul represents a payment made to his firm, it's reasonable to assume that part of that cash went to pay for overhead and employee salaries. o'bama's boy's haul went straight into his pocket. hmmm... which is the badder man?

If you are a fan of irony, consider this: The conservative movement has utterly hated FDR, and his New Deal programs like Medicaid, Social Security, FDIC, Fannie Mae (1938), and the SEC for nearly 80 years. And for the past 8 years, a conservative was in the White House, with a very conservative agenda. For something like 16 of the past 18 years, the conservative dominated GOP has controlled Congress. Those are the facts. We now see that the grand experiment of deregulation has ended, and ended badly. The deregulation movement is now an historical footnote, just another interest group, and once in power they turned into socialists. Indeed, judging by the actions of the conservatives in power, and not the empty rhetoric that comes out of think tanks, the conservative movement has effectively turned the United States into a massive Socialist state, an appendage of Communist Russia, China and Venezuela. Whenever a Republican talking head says they are for any of the above mentioned things they should be questioned to explain how that statement (I'm for free markets) jibes with banning short selling of an entire sector of the market. Whenever a Republican says he is for smaller government, have him explain the nearly doubling of discretionary spending when the Republicans controlled all branches of government. Simply put, this week demonstrated how hollow and OUT OF TOUCH many of the Republican values are. They sound great on paper, but aren't put into practice when that result might cause financial harm to another Republican (McCain). Republicans use the word a lot to provoke fear but they are the real “socialists”.

Democrats just want the system to work for all Americans and have the system run by people who believe in justice. On Nov. 4th, McCain/Palin, "Thanks, But No Thanks". The Democrats get my vote, I decided this years ago.

so this is where our profits are going? McCain also slammed Obama last week, claiming he had 'taken' money from Freddie and Fannie,(as reported falsely again by robt44) and got his supporters at a rally shouting 'Give it back, Give it back..Turns out all Obama got was individual contributions from individual workers who happened to work at these two institutions, and since he has received contributions from nearly 2million Americans, that is not surprising. On the other hand, McCain has received something like 116,000 in contributions from the Managers and Board of Directors of Freddie and Fannie. And now this. I disagree with Andrew: I think in the current climate this is a deal breaker. It is doomsday for McCain.

My suggestion for Mr. Andrew Romano is to do your own research to make sure that the information that you are using in your articles are correct. Mr. Davis separated from his consulting firm, Davis Manafort, in 2006. As has been previously reported, Mr. Davis has seen no income from Davis Manafort since 2006.

It pretty sad, but this is a perfect example of media being in bed with candidates. When are we going to have a news organization that will actually reports nonbiased reports that are actually fact checked and that are not agenda driven.

A media's bias is evident is this article or column or whatever it is; I can't tell the difference anymore.

Lobbyists work at the behest of their employer. Davis may own a company doing some lobbying for Freddie/Fannie, but Obama was in league with one of the men in charge; the man making the decisions.

Follow the money trail. It appears to go towards Obama; check out www.opensecrets.org.

You guys probably love giving your personal favorites free advertising with your editorialized "news".

McCain keeps making stupid moves. The latest on CNN is that Palin agreed to troopergate investigation, but there is a CATCH. She does not agree to cooperate with the bi-partisan investigation, instead she wants to be investigated by her OWN committee. What crap. That is like those stupid congressional committees who investigate themselves. There is no ethics in politicians. They give themselves their own raises, investigate themselves and the only time there is any transparency is if they are in complete control.

McCain is especially an idiot and hypocrite. He doesn't put country first, he doesn't want transparency, he wants control. He drips of Bush political secrecy in his campaign with his two faced rhetoric. Can you imagine if he was President -- the lies, distortion and secrecy that would prevail if he was in office. He hides Palin from the press or controls the press by ensuring he has a mouth piece like republican fox news to do an interview. Look out Foreign leaders, Palin won't talk with you unless you agree with her politics and won't ask her any tough questions -- yea, she is ready to be President alright. Worse, McCain's camp must think the American people are stupid and don't see through his obvious political ploys and lack of honesty. McCain needs to retire and live in one of his eleven homes and spend time driving one of his seven cars instead of driving America into the ground. He has no creditability simply by his own campaign tactics. No wonder his status as a politician drops every day, yet amazingly, he doesn't get it and continues with lies, distortions and not being upfront with American people.

He is worse than a politician....a dishonest man with an ego that thinks he and his cronies are above the law.

How much of the $700 billion toxic bailout do you want to buy from George Bush and Paulson??? How much of it do you believe the country needs as a solution.

...hhhhhmmmmmmm. So Rick Davis was lobbying the Dems and Repubs in 2005 for the very so-called benefits he got for Freddie Mac ....and was still benefitting from these clients while on McCain's staff the past two years, but he is not part of the problem....guess I'm missing something in the Repubs point again.

At least McCain doesn't have to look any further than up from his rockin' chair to talk with Davis about the mess his campaign manager fought for....and the meltdown....

Since that is where McCain is still getting his current toxic economic advice, it doesn't sound like much of a solution for the future to me from him. ...

You have spoken out of both sides of your mouth and changed your tune like the wind. BUT actions of your people that run your campaign are louder than any words you utter.

Americans and the economy is tanking and you supposedly are concerned. Looks like Davis has his golden parachute too. You do not represent Americans, nor do you understand the gravity of your lack of knowledge or your indifference to what occurs in your own "house".

One of the reasons we are melting is because of people on your team. NO MORE , EIGHT YEARS of this garbage is enough allow someone with convictions and real HONOR a opportunity to heal this hurting and demoralized nation.

The people of the United States of America does not exercise 100% democratic process to elect their president. My advice to all the bloggers, don't get excited about who is leading the poll. It is the Electoral College that decides who will be our next Commander-in-Chief.

Looking at these two candidates, I can say, none of them has the credibility to lead this great nation. But when you do not have any other choice, go for the American Hero.

When did lying become so mainstream and explainable as to be not such a big deal?

I guess it all goes to integrity and whether you have it or not.

Bending the meaning of words and phrases, laying down a good 'spin' on things, the casual spreading of 'Bovine Feces' all tell more about you than any number of words ever will.
