His discussion with Obama was a set play by the McCain campaign. While Joe has made some money from his few dsys of fame, it is clear that he cares only for himself and not his middle class "plumbers" who stand to gain more from Obama's policies (centered on the Middle Class)than McCain's policies (centered on the Rich and Wealthy). He has been exposed by the Plumbers Union and the Tax officials. Perhaps Joe devised a Plan to pay off his Tax Liability and saw the Ohio swing state as a good opportunity. Again as with Ms. Palin, the McCain vetting process leaves much to be desired.

The Free and Equal Elections Coalition (FREE) and the Columbia Political Union are pleased to announce that a Presidential debate will be held this coming Sunday, October 19th, 2008, on the campus of Columbia University.

ALL SIX of the Presidential candidates who appear on enough state ballots to acquire the 270 Electoral Votes needed to become President are invited. They are as follows (listed in alphabetical order by affiliation):

Constitution Party Candidate: Chuck Baldwin

Democratic Party Candidate: Barack Obama

Green Party Candidate: Cynthia McKinney

Independent Candidate: Ralph Nader

Libertarian Party Candidate: Bob Barr

Republican Party Can John McCain

The Columbia Political Union will present the debate from 8:00pm to 10:00pm in the Altschul Auditorium, located at 417 International Affairs Building. The debate will be moderated by Pacifica Radio's Amy Goodman, the host of "Democracy Now!". CSPAN will cover the debate, and live radio broadcasts are expected.

"The Columbia Political Union is committed to energizing political discourse on Columbia's campus," said Allon Brann, Columbia Political Union Publisher. "As a non-partisan organization, we work to provide students with opportunities to encounter and engage with political ideas across a wide ideological spectrum, and on a wide range of issues."

"It is with these goals in mind that we have organized this Presidential Debate: to give all candidates-- either within or outside of the political "mainstream"-- the opportunity to speak directly to students about their goals on the issues they deem critical for this country."

"We have invited all eligible candidates, and it is our sincere hope that all will participate, to ensure the substance and rigor of the dialogue which we believe is crucial at this time."

Certified letters officially inviting each candidate have been sent to the respective campaigns.

The Free and Equal Elections Coalition and the Columbia Political Union await the response from the candidates. All candidates' supporters are encouraged to contact the Presidential campaigns and urge them to attend.

The Columbia Political Union seeks to enhance involvement in the political process, domestic and international, and draw every member of the campus community into an ongoing discussion of political ideas.

FREE is a coalition of political parties, independent citizens and civic organizations formed to promote free and equal elections in the United States.

Imagine the ratings!! This election business has gone way too far. Knowledge of the law or history are no longer required to govern. We want celebrities and Joe Plumber and Sarah Lipstick shared a meteoric rise to fame from obscurity. We hate intellectuals and the Joe Six Pack/ Plumber Hockey/Soccer Mom couple are our ideal King and Queen. They are just like us, the common man and the common woman - we want our leaders to be just like our next door neighbor! Their former partners will just have to understand and accept the sacrifice. Joe the Plumber looks like he can kick Todd’s rear in any case. Sarah is considered presidential and she can pass her wisdom on to Joe the Plumber. This pair is the new American Idol Couple, that’s all that counts. Sarah and Joe forever! And by the way, lets get rid of the Constitution once and for all -Bush/Cheney already ignore it - too many words.

There are many honest hardworking Americans who are struggling or small business owners. He is by no means honest, or a small business owner.

Honest Americans, pay their taxes, honest Americans don't pretend a business they work for is

making 250-280K when in fact it made 100K.. Honest hard working people do not call into

republican talk radio looking for their 15 minutes then go and approach a candidate and pretend

to have a question that was planned beforehand as a way to make people and the cameras think

Senator Obamas tax plan would hurt small business. So why don't we celebrate the real honest everyday hard working American. McCain and Joe do have something in common, thay both keep their head in the toilet. Wow, Joe the liar, Palin the dim lit bulb, McCain the hate, fear, and war monger. The world is laughing at us. Please superman Obama, save us from the mad scienist who want to rule the world.

Did you hear what Senator Obama said about Joe?

The exact words "McCain want us to believe he's fighting for a plumber, how many

plumbers do you know who make 250K, a year.

There is nothing in that statement (the only one he made about Joe) that is mean, or hateful.

Get to know your plumber, or look up the salary of an unlicensed plumber on the Department of Labor website. An un trained, unlicensed plumber does not make anywhere near that.

Joe aka Samuel is a liar. There are other wonderful symbols of honest, hard working Americans out there who deserves the attention Joe is receiving.

However it was a Wise and Judicious Barack Obama in 2004 who spoke these Uniting words in regards to America's oneness:

"Even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes. Well, I say to them tonight, there's not a liberal America and a conservative America; there's the United States of America. There's not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there's the United States of America. The pundits, the pundits like to slice and dice our country into red states and blue States: red states for Republicans, blue States for Democrats. But I've got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the blue states, and we don't like federal agents poking around our libraries in the red states. We coach little league in the blue states and, yes, we've got some gay friends in the red states." --Obama, 2004.

It should be a crime against the American Public and a Betrayal of the Public Trust for McCain and Republicans to be able to get away with obvious lies and distortions by false and misleading Robocalls which try to link an 8 year old Barack Obama with acts committed by Ayers over 30 years ago. It is down right dishonest, dishonorable and misleading. There should be laws against this type of unethical behavior to knowing lie and mislead for gain. This is like one lying on their Resume when applying for a job. It is moraly wrong and unethical!

As for Joe the Plumber who lied to Barack when he falsely said, "I'm getting ready to buy a company that makes $250,000 to $280,000 a year," he told Mr. Obama. "Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?" when he makes $45,000 a year and owes back taxes! The very middle-class person, Barack Obama's tax status would help! And Joe the Plumber belies the fact that if one has $250,000.00 dollars to invest in a business, and because he has to pay his fair share of taxes, he is unable to Purchase that business, he is just plain greedy.

MORT KONDRACKE, EXECUTIVE EDITOR, "ROLL CALL": It's an interesting, fascinating of the debate.

One, Joe, apparently, is a Republican to begin with. He is not your average independent voter. He voted in the Republican primary this year.

Two, judging by his press conference, he thinks that the graduated income tax is socialism. So he's--

HUME: So he's a nut case?

KONDRACKE: No. He's approaching this from the right, shall we say, to begin with. Three--

HUME: But what about the issue he raises?

KONDRACKE: OK. He doesn't make $250,000 a year now.

HUME: He wouldn't. He said that. He is think that he would if he owned the company.

KONDRACKE: So under Obama's plan he would get a tax cut.

HUME: Yes, but he is talking about what would happen-the whole premise is if he bought that company--

KONDRACKE: He buys the company. He gets an SDA loan from Obama to start the company. He gets no capital gains, unless his company is making over $250,000 a year. He gets a job creation tax credit if he hires somebody.

So unless he nets after--as a gross--I'm sorry--a net profit of more than $250,000 a year, he is not going to pay any more taxes, even if he starts this business.

If he makes over $250,000 a year total net profit, he will be taxed at the rate he would have been taxed under Bill Clinton. That did not destroy the American economy.

HUME: But it would be more than he would be taxed now.

KONDRACKE: Yes.

HUME: OK.

KONDRACKE: But starting out this business, buying this little business of his, he is not going to be making over $250,000 a year in profit.

NINA EASTON, "FORTUNE" MAGAZINE: From a political standpoint, the issue is less Joe than what Barack Obama said, "We need to share the wealth."

HUME: Barack Obama made no secret of the idea that he is perfectly happy if this guy makes that kind of money to take it from him to spread it around.

EASTON: To share the wealth. And, of course, the flipside is to penalize success, right?

And John McCain, I think, for several months has had--the greatest vulnerability of Barack Obama is his liberal voting record and his inexperience.

Note: The National Polls, The Electoral Map and Sunday, Colin Powell will [Endorse Obama] and Several Repuican Conservatives have also Jumped Ship and Endorsed Obama.

On Friday, [2 Dependable Conservative] organs backed Democrat Barack Obama for president.

First, Philadelphia talk radio host Michael Smerconish:

On his talk show on WPHT today, conservative Philadelphian Michael Smerconish endorsed Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.

Smerconish did so by reading a couple paragraphs from his pending op-ed in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"I've decided," he said. "My conclusion comes after reading the candidates' memoirs and campaign platforms, attending both party conventions, interviewing both men multiple times, and watching all primary and general election debates.

"John McCain is an honorable man who has served his country well. But he will not get my vote. For the first time since registering as a Republican 28 years ago, I'm voting for a Democrat for president.

"I may have been an appointee in the George H.W. Bush administration, and master of ceremonies for George W. Bush in 2004, but last Saturday I stood amidst the crowd at an Obama event in North Philadelphia," says the Republican.

Then, the Chicago Tribune, a newspaper that has not endorsed a Democrat for president since it was founded in 1847, followed suit. From their editorial:

Many Americans say they're uneasy about Obama. He's pretty new to them.

We can provide some assurance. We have known Obama since he entered politics a dozen years ago. We have watched him, worked with him, argued with him as he rose from an effective state senator to an inspiring U.S. senator to the Democratic Party's nominee for president.

We have tremendous confidence in his intellectual rigor, his moral compass and his ability to make sound, thoughtful, careful decisions. He is ready.

...

It may have seemed audacious for Obama to start his campaign in Springfield, invoking Lincoln. We think, given the opportunity to hold this nation's most powerful office, he will prove it wasn't so audacious after all. We are proud to add Barack Obama's name to Lincoln's in the list of people the Tribune has endorsed for president of the United States.

According to Editor & Publisher, Obama now has a 3 to 1 lead over McCain in newspaper endorsements -- 51 newspapers with a total 6,299,363 daily circulation. At least seven of those papers endorsed President Bush in 2004.

Joe is the Republican's [Johnny Appleseed] just like the republican's [Queen of the Frozen Tundra] Sarah Palin...Nothing There at all !!

If Joe the Plumber thinks he can't afford to buy the business under Obama's tax plan then he really needs to consult a good accountant. Obama's plan lowers taxes on the first $250,000 Joe makes. On the money over $250,000, Joe would pay 39% under Obama, instead of the 36% he now pays. That's 3% more taxes, not exactly break-the-bank if you have already made $250,000 at a low rate. In fact, if Joe makes $280,000 then his taxes will only go up $900 a year (that's 3% of $30,000, the amount over $250,000).

Plus, Obama will give him a $1,000 tax credit for every job he creates, and tax credits for every employee that he provides health insurance for. Under Obama's plan, Joe's business will actually pay LESS TAX than it does now, as long as he has even just one employee.

McCain's plan will tax the first $250,000 at a the current rate, then drop the taxes on anything over $250,000 by an unspecified amount. McCain's plan does not give him a tax credit for every job he creates. If he provides health care for his employees he will now have to deduct yet another tax from their paychecks, adding administrative burden to his company. Not to mention that Joe will have to pay this tax himself on his personal income, which amounts to an extra $4,200 a year he pays in taxes (35% of the $12,000 a typical policy costs).

And if his company does not provide health care, he and his employees will have to pay individually for their health insurance (average cost $12,000 per year), they'll get a $5,000 tax credit under McCain, but be out of pocket at least $7,000 per year for their policy. Either way, Joe will pay MORE taxes under McCain's plan.

My impression is that Joe really should stick to plumbing and leave tax policy to Obama.

Furthermore, Joe the plumber says that Obama has a "very socialist view of taxes" This statement shows America how very uninformed Joe Wurzelbacher is. I would love to hear Joe define socialism and describe the tax policies of a socialist nation. He would start to sound like Sarah Palin on Katie Couric. Nor does he seem to recognize that all democracies socialize certain functions: police, fire fighting, military, roads, public schools, sewers, water. This is for the greater good and we all accept it. It does not make us socialists.

In his book Audacity of Hope, Obama writes at length about the FAILURE of SOCIALISM. He enthusiastically states that American democracy is the greatest political system on earth. Obama is not a socialist.

Joe the plumber should stick to plumbing and leave public policy decisions to people who actually know what they are talking about.

Oh, and maybe Joe should get a plumbing license, since he is operating without one in violation of the law. And those back taxes he owes.... Not to mention the fact that he is related to Charles Keating, an old friend of John McCain and the crook who brought you the Lincoln Savings and Loan scandal.

http://therealmccain.com/butler/

"To see McCain resort to playing the POW card when answering legitimate questions, in my mind, cheapens that experience. And by cheapening his own experience in war, he degrades all of our experiences in war. He turns the horrific incidents we've all seen, touched, smelled, and felt into a lame excuse to earn political points. And it dishonors us all."

-- Brandon Friedman, a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan

John McCain has been exploiting his prisoner of war experience every chance he gets. He has used this story to justify everything from not knowing how many homes he has to his healthcare plan to his marital infidelities to his taste in music. The McCain campaign is even using his POW story in paid ads. But now a veteran who was a prisoner with McCain in Vietnam is explaining loud and clear that being a POW does not qualify McCain to lead our country.

We are sure this video will draw an onslaught of right-wing attacks, but we bring it to you because it is our job to continue to convey the truth together and give these issues national attention. As Dr. Butler has said, McCain does not have the temperament to have his finger near the red button.

Get this video to everyone you know-friends, family members, coworkers, and especially those who don't share your political views. The video is designed to reach them.

Get it on your social networking sites like Digg. And get it to every blog, newspaper, and TV station that has ever overplayed McCain's POW story. It is time to fight back with truth!

The mainstream press has already begun to call out McCain for overusing his POW story. And it's cut across all political persuasions.

"Whether he's deflecting criticism over his health-care plan or mocking a tribute to the Woodstock music festival, Senator John McCain has a trump card: the Hanoi Hilton. - Edwin Chen, Bloomberg

"Noun, Verb, POW" - Andrew Sullivan, The Atlantic Monthly

"The McCain campaign's constant invocation of the candidate's POW past is weird bordering on irrational..." - Ana Marie Cox, TIME

"I think they are going to it way too many times." - Howard Fineman, Newsweek

Remember how Joe Biden got the press to refer to Rudy Giuliani as "A noun, a verb, and 9/11"

Well, let's actually take Andrew Sullivan's lead here and get the media to boil McCain down to a similar phrase: "A noun, a verb, and POW." Considering how often the McCain campaign invokes his POW story, isn't that what they're already doing?

He do not even pay taxes is McCain serious. This is another mockery that the Republicians has done to make us look like we are stupid. We are not pretending that people are losing their homes, their jobs and health insurance. We do have to make that up Democrats know but the Republician can get away with this type of insane issue about Joe. What is nexts McCain ," Harold the janitor lose half-million in the stock market, and what to know if he will be able to retired with a nested egg". O yes my husband owned a janitorial service.

http://therealmccain.com/butler/

Here's a high-profile, CW-setting national one for an appetizer:

Opinion Research for CNN. 9/19-21 results. Likely voters. MoE 3.5% (9/5-7 results)

McCain (R) 47 (48)

Obama (D) 51 (48)

And on to the states:

FLORIDA

Research 2000 for the Florida Times-Union and South Florida Sun-Sentinel. 9/15-18 results. Likely voters. MoE 4% (No trend lines)

McCain (R) 46

Obama (D) 45

Rasmussen (PDF) for Fox News. 9/21. Likely voters. MoE 4.5% (9/7 results)

McCain (R) 51 (48)

Obama (D) 46 (48)

The Pollster.com composite still gives McCain a +3.6 advantage, but if you look at the recent polling, it's essentially a tied race. I keep wanting to write off Florida, but every time it looks like McCain may be pulling away, Obama comes back strong.

MICHIGAN

Rasmussen (PDF) for Fox News. 9/21. Likely voters. MoE 4.5% (9/10 results)

McCain (R) 44 (46)

Obama (D) 51 (51)

MINNESOTA

Rasmussen. 9/18 results. Likely voters. MoE 4.5% (No trend lines)

McCain (R) 44 (42)

Obama (D) 52 (46)

ARG. 9/16-20 results. Likely voters. MoE 4% (No trend lines)

McCain (R) 47

Obama (D) 48

That Rasmussen poll looks a lot different than most polling in Minnesota of late. But if you look at all the recent polls, it bears noting that Obama consistently scores between 45-53, while McCain languishes between 41-47, and has never led. Obama hasn't closed this state out, but he has the upper hand. People are far more skeptical of McCain in Minnesota than Obama.

NEVADA

Suffolk. 9/17-21 results. Likely voters. MoE 4% (No trend lines)

McCain (R) 46

Obama (D) 45

NEW MEXICO

PPP (PDF). 9/17-19 results. Likely voters. MoE 3% (No trend lines)

McCain (R) 42

Obama (D) 53

NORTH CAROLINA

PPP (PDF). 9/17-19 results. Likely voters. MoE 3% (9/9 results)

McCain (R) 46 (48)

Obama (D) 46 (44)

Rasmussen. 9/18. Likely voters. MoE 4.5% (8/13 results)

McCain (R) 50 (50)

Obama (D) 47 (44)

OHIO

Rasmussen (PDF) for Fox News. 9/21. Likely voters. MoE 4.5% (9/14 results)

McCain (R) 50 (48)

Obama (D) 46 (45)

PENNSYLVANIA

Mason/Dixon for NBC. 9/16-18 results. Likely voters. MoE 3.9% (No trend lines)

McCain (R) 44

Obama (D) 46

Rasmussen (PDF) for Fox News. 9/21. Likely voters. MoE 4.5% (9/14 results)

McCain (R) 45 (47)

Obama (D) 48 (47)

M-D is one of the best pollsters in the biz. And all recent polling from reputable outfits show this one pretty much tied, with Obama holding the slight edge. Suffice it to say, if Obama loses Pennsylvania and its 21 electoral votes, his path to victory becomes very difficult indeed.

VIRGINIA

SurveyUSA. 9/19-21. Likely voters. MoE 3.7% (9/12-14 results)

McCain (R) 45 (46)

Obama (D) 51 (50)

ABC/WaPo. 9/18-21. Likely voters. MoE 3.5% (No trend lines)

McCain (R) 46

Obama (D) 49

Registered voters: O50, M44.

ARG. 9/17-20. Likely voters. MoE 3.5% (No trend lines)

McCain (R) 48

Obama (D) 46

Rasmussen (PDF) for Fox News. 9/21. Likely voters. MoE 4.5% (9/14 results)

McCain (R) 50 (48)

Obama (D) 48 (48)

McCain said that Obama was Un-Patriotic for not using the Term [Victory]

Question: Is Gen. Patraeus a Un-Patriotic General, as McCain has Described Obama ?

General Patraeus has also stated, "The Iraq War is not a [Victory Slogan] and that its not like taking a Hill, planting a Flag and coming Home to a Victory Parade"

Who cares about Joe's divroces, back taxes, how much he actually makes a year. He is not a liar. He never lied about those things, the guy asked Obama a hypothetical question. No one should have to have their private life investigated this way. Joe is not RUNNING FOR OFFICE !. Joe asked a Hypothetical question. IT was his dream to someday own a plumbing company. Obviously making 40,000 with back taxes and unpaid hosptial bills, Joe is struggling like many Americans But that doesn't make him a liar or a bad guy. He is imperfect lke many of us. How many of us woudl stand up to the media scrutiny. Dont' we all have a past of something we aren't too proud of. But he still has a dream one day of owning his own place. So he asked a VALID question to Obama. So for that he needs to be grilled and interrogated and investiated and reported on as "liar" in Newsweek Magazine? Jeez, he is a private citizen who happened across a presidential candidate in his own neighborhood and this is what he gest for questioning the unquesionable --Obama. As fro Mccain. People are trying to blame him? Crazy. First I have heard he should have vetted Joe, but didn't just like he didn't vet Palin. My gosh have you all lost your minds? Joe is PRIVATE CITIZEN NOT RUNNING FOR ANYTHING. McCain should not have to VET Joe... He was using Joe a symbol, and example of how Obama's tax plan would work against people like Joe who want to move up the ladder. How it penalizes those who are successful and reward those who are not. Sure he mentioned Joe. But I am sure McCain had no idea the minions of reporters would go after Joe in this way for daring to question the "THE ONE". Newsweek YOU should be ashamed. You are as bad as the rest of the media . The only word of advice I have -- Joe stop talking to the media. Iam sure he does see this an opportunity to make a buck even, but he is paying a pretty high price being smeared, maybe losing his job and livelihood, reporters camping outside his house day and night, and a teenage son to raise through all this to boot.

Huckabees show wll be fine. I think he will treat you fairly because Huckabee strkes me a fair and honest and honorable guy.

As for his supposed "diss" of McCain's offer to come to the rally. Please. again, crazy. Joe made arrangement to go out of town to do Huckabee it's not like he can cancel then they would bash him for that cancelling on Huckabee. I am sure McCain campaign while not aware what he was doing Huckabbee (and Joe again is a private citizen and should not have to tell them or anyone else anything but his actions and plna). but I am sure they don't care he is going on Huckabee and not the Rally. mccain came to the guys' defense. I am sure he feels somewhat responsible because he is being attacked but I think it's not his fault. No one could have imagined the press would have attacked the poor guy this way and viscerally ripped hims apart. Then news commentatar say he "deserved it" for opening himself to the media. Geez. What lunes. It's the blame the victim menality. Joe had a right to ask a question. Joe had a right to speak to the press when they asked him question. Doesn't mean joe deserves to have his life torn apart so he doesn't do damage to the chosen one's campaign.

He admitted to Joe the Plumber than he wanted to spread the wealth! He said that he wanted to make everyone equal! Is America ready for Socialism? The Iranian president, Ahmadinejad, said today that he is glad to see the end to capitalism in America!! Are you glad?????

====================================================================================================

Under socialism a ruling class of intellectuals, bureaucrats and social planners decide what people want or what is good for society and then use the coercive power of the State to regulate, tax, and redistribute the wealth of those who work for a living. In other words, socialism is a form of legalized theft.

The morality of socialism can be summed-up in two words: envy and self-sacrifice. Envy is the desire to not only possess another's wealth but also the desire to see another's wealth lowered to the level of one's own. Socialism's teaching on self-sacrifice was nicely summarized by two of its greatest defenders, Hermann Goering and Bennito Mussolini. The highest principle of Nazism (National Socialism), said Goering, is: "Common good comes before private good." Fascism, said

Mussolini, is "a life in which the individual, through the sacrifice of his own private interests??realizes that completely spiritual existence in which his value as a man lies."

Socialism is the social system which institutionalizes envy and self-sacrifice: It is the social system which uses compulsion and the organized violence of the State to expropriate wealth from the producer class for its redistribution to the parasitical class.

Despite the intellectuals' psychotic hatred of capitalism, it is the only moral and just social system.

Capitalism is the only moral system because it requires human beings to deal with one another as traders--that is, as free moral agents trading and selling goods and services on the basis of mutual consent.

Capitalism is the only just system because the sole criterion that determines the value of thing exchanged is the free, voluntary, universal judgement of the consumer. Coercion and fraud are anathema to the free-market system.

It is both moral and just because the degree to which man rises or falls in society is determined by the degree to which he uses his mind. Capitalism is the only social system that rewards merit, ability and achievement, regardless of one's birth or station in life.

Yes, there are winners and losers in capitalism. The winners are those who are honest, industrious, thoughtful, prudent, frugal, responsible, disciplined, and efficient. The losers are those who are shiftless, lazy, imprudent, extravagant, negligent, impractical, and inefficient. [What about the role of luck being in the right place at the right time or the wrong place at the wrong time? R. R. Pope}

Don't buy them, get them from the library before they are removed from the shelves.

From 'Dreams of My Father', "I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites."

From 'Dreams of My Father', "'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race."

From 'Dreams of My Father', "There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white."

From 'Dreams of My Father', "It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names."

From 'Dreams of My Father', "I never emulate WHITE men and BROWN men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela."

And FINALLY the Most Damning one of ALL of them!!!

From 'Audacity of Hope', "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

Nothing right now is *issing me off more than the knowledge that my children and I will have to pay for the AIG party and for all of the CEO'S who have McMansions all over the world. Now tell me this is Capitalism in it's truest form. Adam Smith must be screwing himself into the ground. Who ever heard of a capitalistic republic owning an equity interest in the nation's largest banks?

Regarding Joe the plumber--Regardless of whether he buys his bosses business or not, he will be ahead financially with Obama's tax plan, not McCain:

"Wurzelbacher also acknowledged that he had no specific plans for buying Newell’s business, saying he and Newell had simply talked about the idea from time to time. He might have difficulty making the purchase: Court records from his divorce show that Wurzelbacher made $40,000 in 2006.

Even if he did buy Newell Plumbing and Heating, Obama’s tax plan wouldn’t affect him. While Wurzelbacher told Obama that the business would be taxed at a higher rate because it grossed more than $250,000 a year, Ohio business records show the company’s estimated total annual revenue as only $100,000.

In any event, Obama’s tax plan specifies that the higher rate would apply only to revenue above the $250,000 threshold. For a company with revenue of $280,000, the top end of Wurzelbacher’s supposition, only the extra $30,000 would be taxed at a higher rate.

Analysts calculated that the extra tax would amount to $900, which would likely be more than offset by separate provisions of Obama’s plan: a 50 percent tax credit for health care and elimination of the capital gains tax for small businesses."

I believe they said something to this effect: America has not become the greatest country in the world by spreading the wealth around but by making it.

The fact is that what has made America great was its generous ripple effects of wealth creation, making some of it available to people willing to work hard and take the opportunity to participate in wealth creation as they saw fit: By going out on their own or working for others. This was made possible by sharing in the proceeds of, as well as that of, making the wealth.

Until recently, when the greed of the wealthy and their friends in government became so great that it pushed aside most of those helping to create their wealth. This is threatening to put a stop to America's greatness; just think of the fifty per cent of Americans making about 32,000 dollars a year, some defaulting on their credit card and mortgage debts when they can't even make that because they lost their jobs.

It is ironic that "Joe" making $40,000 a year is worried about a suggestion of taxes going up for people making over $250,000. Of course, he doesn't like paying his taxes to begin with.

But it is sad that his "cause" would be "defended" by the same people who are keeping him on the sidelines of wealth creation, and he doesn't even know it.

Worse yet is that I have not seen a cross country repudiation of what was said by McCain, or his campaign staff, about what made America great. And so we may think it was greed, if we listen to them.

I watched him speak to Obama. He in fact misled everyone. He does not have the capacity to advance to his dream. He should first of all go get the proper qualifications then develop his skills. I think all that talk about working hard is true but not in the sense of really buying such a business. In effect he has wasted out time because he is just a wannabe but is far from it yet.

I suppose Joe is going to really try to make some money on this new fame. But he must be warrned that he is opening himself to a lot of ridicule and other things. Now he has been found out by the government: he has to pay taxes; he is not qualified for what he is doing, that is he is violating the law..... If he feels that Obama has it easy by being well known, then he is in for a shocik.

I think he should just avoid the limelight; period. I do not find him really that interesting. He has exposed his prejudiced side by calling Obama a tap dancer. Well he is black is'nt he? What a pity. Such people will not vote for Obama and only because he is not white. Well he can keep his vote. Meanwhile let him make the circuit; people will soon get tired of him.

Once the focus of post-convention Republican euphoria, the Alaska Governor is now viewed as a serious liability to the McCain campaign.

As it stands, Palin's polling numbers are daunting: with the unfolding economic crisis, her favorable to unfavorable ratings have switched from a positive 40-30, according to a September 12-16 New York Times survey, to a negative 32-41 in an October 10-13 survey.

Palin is, additionally, costing McCain newspaper endorsements. Editor and Publisher calculated that as of Oct 18, Barack Obama led McCain 58-16 in the competition for the backing of newspapers. Many of the endorsements cited Palin as a factor in their rejection of McCain. The Salt Lake Tribune, which supported George W. Bush in 2004, commented that "out of nowhere, and without proper vetting, the impetuous McCain picked Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate. She quickly proved grievously under-equipped to step into the presidency should McCain, at 72 and with a history of health problems, die in office. More than any single factor, McCain's bad judgment in choosing the inarticulate, insular and ethically challenged Palin disqualifies him for the presidency." The Kansas City Star, in turn, described Palin as "unqualified."

Brookings Senior Fellow Thomas Mann told the Huffington Post that initially, Palin both built conservative enthusiasm for McCain and drew widespread interest among voters who had not been closely following the race. But those benefits soon evanesced:

"Within weeks, she became a liability, primarily as a highly visible indicator of McCain's impulsiveness and recklessness in picking someone who is patently unqualified to serve as president and commander-in-chief. McCain's only chance of making this election competitive was to contrast his readiness to serve with Obama's inexperience and naiveté. The Palin choice was the first clear sign (others followed) that McCain could not win that comparison."

Norman Ornstein, of the American Enterprise Institute, agrees about the immediate gains, noting that the "short term boost dissipated awfully quickly. Palin's clear lack of capability to serve as VP, much less as president, her lack of knowledge of even basics about most areas of policy, her ethical problems in Alaska over Troopergate, and the campaign decision to cloister her from serious scrutiny, all caused a drop in her own approval, but also reflected on McCain's decision-making style." Palin continues to "generate enthusiasm from hard-core Republicans who would not be as charged-up if the running mate were, say, a [Mitt] Romney or [Tim] Pawlenty," Ornstein says, "but the downside is definitely greater than the gain."

Palin's analysis of the current economic crisis has not won over most voters seeking a serious appraisal of the situation accompanied by well-thought out proposals. In a highly sympathetic interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, the verbatim exchange on the economy went as follows

Fox's Brit Hume, gets the Facts from an Authority, Mort Korndracke

-------------------------------------------

John McCain’s Top Econ. Adviser: He Will Raise Taxes, Whether Democrat, Republican or a Martian

http://www.time-blog.com/swampland/2008/09/the_mccain_tax_increasescontin.html

"Whether you're a Republican, Democrat President or a Martian, Taxes will be Raised"

Though Mccain has said Throughout his campaign "I will Not, Raise Your Taxes"

His Top Economic Adviser says thats a LIE....Obama will Raise Taxes on those that make More than 250,000...

Those making 250,000 or under, especially Seniors, will have a Tax Break and Tax Cut.

-----------------------------------------

Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a former Director of the Congressional Budget Office and current chief McCain economic advisor, is an honest man--which means he's something of a liability on the Straight Talk Express.

A few months ago, he admitted to my colleague, Michael Scherer, that Barack Obama's economic plan would REDUCE TAXES for MOST PEOPLE. And now, in a forthcoming book by Fortune columnist Matt Miller, he makes it clear that the NEXT PRESIDENT is going to have to RAISE TAXES.

"If you do nothing on the spending side, you're going to have to raise taxes whether you're a Republican, a Democrat or a Martian," he tells Miller...and then he immediately makes it clear that the "spending side" part of the argument is nothing more than a political fig-leaf.

-----------------------------------

Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a former Director of the Congressional Budget Office and current chief McCain economic advisor, is an honest man--which means he's something of a liability on the Straight Talk Express.
"POLITICAL FIG LEAF".

--------------------------------------------------------

YOU REPUBLICANS ARE SUCH GULLIBLE FOOLS...MCCAIN WILL RAISE YOUR TAXES...PERIOD

TAXES WILL BE RAISED...PERIOD...

INFLATION, ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, OVER POPULATION, LEADS TO MORE [TAXATION] !!!

DAMN !!!

---------------------------------

Former POW says McCain is "not cut out to be President"

http://therealmccain.com/butler/

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Obama's Military Endorsements...I guess their also [Radical & Militant]

YOU REPUBLICANS ARE SUCH GULLIBLE FOOLS...MCCAIN WILL RAISE YOUR TAXES...PERIOD

TAXES WILL BE RAISED...PERIOD...

INFLATION, ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, OVER POPULATION, LEADS TO MORE [TAXATION] !!!

DAMN !!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Former POW says McCain is "not cut out to be President"

http://therealmccain.com/butler/

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Joe the Plumber is this campaign's attempt at an 11th hour zinger. McCain's smile was almost gleeful as he threw this poor unsuspecting guy smack dab into the national frenzy, and it didn't matter one iota if Joe's 15 minutes of fame--compliments of McCain himself--laid his entire life open to the glaring light of public scrutiny. The fact is, this latest tactic isn't really about caring for Joe at all, anymore than previous tactics were really about exposing Monica Lewinski or saving the public from the felon Willie Horton. Joe's just a name, a shorthand, a marketing tool. A blank canvas used to communicate whatever happens to be McCain's attack of the day. And the latest attack is that Obama's a socialist who's waging class warfare and wants to redistribute the wealth.

Set aside for the moment that McCain, like Obama, just signed a bailout bill that could be a model of socialism for the upper class. My question is, what's wrong with the notion of redistributing some of the wealth in this country? Things haven't been this unequal since the '20s and the robber baron days of Rockefeller, Carnegie and J.P. Morgan. Thanks to the economic policies of the last 8years, the top one per cent of this country now control more money than the entire amount of money earned and owned by the bottom 50% of the population. It's reported that the vast majority of wealth in America is now controlled by 400 families. Hate to tell you this, Senator, but the war's already in progress. This top one per cent has been waging class warfare against the rest of America for a long time--and they're quite obviously winning.

But McCain isn't talking about that. As an owner of 11 houses and a shared income of $4 - $6 million a year, he's not even talking about the upper class. In falsely stating that Obama's tax cuts equal welfare, he says that Obama is waging class warfare against...Joe the plumber. While knowing it's not true, he claims that Obama wants to take poor Joe's money and give it to...who? Those people "who don't even have a job." McCain's no longer attacking Obama for being an elitist. Now, with claims that echo of his long time buddy Phil Gramm's call for welfare reform, he accuses Obama of being a champion of the poor. Wow. Only a Rove type politician would try that switch and expect to get away with it.

So, it looks like McCain has misread yet another war. Meanwhile, Joe the plumber--whose employer might now lose his license, who's undoubtedly on the IRS' radar for unpaid taxes and who's already becoming the target of late night comedians--runs a very strong risk of being the next casualty.

So much for McCain an his [ Anti- Socialist Sentiments]

Is'nt McCain-Palin wanting to make War Against Russia ?

McCain Anti Russia

McCain Letter Asks Russian Envoy For Money

By Cernig Tuesday Oct 21, 2008 7:00am

[Is'nt McCain an Anti-Socialist] Hahahahaha !!!

Boy oh Boy...

McCain is throwing Everything but the Toilet Plunger at Barack Obama !!!

As McCain's henchman Rick Davis was trying to label as "Secret Donations" amounts that are under the disclosure limits of the bill McCain himself wrote on campaign finance, and suggesting that Obama is taking in illegal foreign donations...

... the worst-run presidential campaign in history was rolling into another blunder.

John McCain's presidential election campaign has solicited a financial contribution from an unlikely source -- Russia's U.N. envoy -- but a McCain spokesman said on Monday it was a mistake.

In the letter, McCain urged Russia's U.N. Ambassador, Vitaly Churkin, to contribute anywhere from $35 (20 pounds) to $5,000 (2,912 pounds) to help ensure McCain's victory over Democratic rival Sen. Barack Obama, currently ahead in voter preference polls. "If I have the honour of continuing to serve you, I make you this promise: We will always put America -- her strength, her ideals, her future -- before every other consideration," McCain assured Churkin.

Moscow's mission to the United Nations issued a terse statement on the Republican presidential candidate's letter, saying that the Russian government and its officials "do not finance political activity in foreign countries.

"

Yes, it was almost certainly a database error, and more than a few people as finding it amusing as hell. But it also undermines the McCain campaign's narrative in the most embarassing way.

It also leaves some questions open.

The FEC's notes on public financing say:

A major party nominee who has accepted public funding for the general election may not accept any contributions to further his election. You may, however, help a publicly funded nominee by contributing to the candidate's compliance fund. A compliance fund is a special account maintained by publicly funded nominees solely for paying legal and accounting expenses incurred in complying with the campaign finance law. You may contribute up to $2,300 to the compliance fund of a major party nominee.

$5,000 dollars is over the limit set for the FEC.

The campaign still was sending out to ask for money even though it has accepted public finance so was it clearly asking for a contribution to the compliance fund?

Time for an FEC audit of McCain's finances. That's what FOX and the rest would be baying for if this was an Obama campaign letter.
