Governor Palin also acknowledged the Senator’s proposal to offer $1,000 rebates to those struggling with the high cost of energy.

Oh, she is DEFINITELY wearing a Democratic scarf. At this point, I'm ready to say she's sabotaging her party on purpose. Everyone who knows she's the anchor holding down McCain's election chances (his campaign being the rope/chain), and it looks very much like she's telling everyone to vote "Democratic".

What else can it mean? A red, white, and blue scarf covered with the Democratic mascot with the word "vote" on it?

Clearly she wants us ALL to vote Democrat. I for one am more than happy to comply.

You can see that she isn't wearing the scarf during the speech, but has it on when she is working the crowd later. Someone in the crowd must have given it to her. She probably put it on without looking closely enough to notice the donkeys.

I wish I were clever enough to pull a stunt like that! I love the photo!

While not as bad as Cindy McCain, who wore a dress to the GOP convention that was twice that amount (an insult to the people whose vote she is asking for) Palin's clothing allowance came out of the CAMPAIGN BUDGET. If I had sent my hard earned money to the McCain campaign - as so many republicans facing hardship did- I'd be mad as hell over this.

My most generous theory would be that it is a reversible novelty scarf with elephants on the other side? And it got flipped around? Even in the unlikely best case scenario it's a pretty ODD choice. In other note, those actually look like mules - with short ears - instead of donkeys with long ones. I don't know what it all means but everything about this weird mystery points to the incoherence of the candidate and the campaign.

Our three mules, Ebony, Bonnie, and Pearl all have real long ears. I can tell what Ebony is thinking from a quarter mile away -- her ears are like semaphore flags.

Here at home in Alaska, Sarah has always shopped at JC Penny's and at the good used clothing stores in Anchorage. She's got five kids and her family is struggling along on a mere $200,000/year. Keep an eye on her shoes -- she's always had a thing for good shoes.

In real life, Sarah is personable, funny, engaging, and a pretty good gov. But she's spectaculary unqualified to be the Veep. She threw the Alaska Constitution under the bus the day McSame picked her to run with him.

Sarah Palin was appearing at this rally with several former Hillary supporters who are now backing McCain/Palin (aka the PUMAs). McCain's rallies have been drawing significant numbers of Democrats, particularly those who are disgusted with the fraud perpetrated in the Democrat caucus (See "We will not be silenced" 4 part documentary series on YouTube).

That scarf was a gift from one of these PUMAs, and she was gracious enough to wear it.

Since 1982, the Alaska Permanent Fund, which invests oil revenues from state lands, has paid out a dividend on invested oil loot to everyone who has been in the state for a year.

But Palin upped the ante by joining with Democrats and some recalcitrant Republican state legislators to share in oil company windfall profits, further fattening state tax revenue and permitting an additional payout in tax funds to residents.

Big Note: No wonder she is popular with voters in a state whose residents pay no income or sales taxes but are blessed with state coffers rolling in cash at a time when all other states are suffering. Indeed, when the oil companies pay more taxes to the state of Alaska, they get to write that off against their federal tax obligation, leaving the rest of us to make up the shortfall.

The state of Alaska owns most of the oil-producing land and was getting upward of 85 percent of its budget from the oil companies that lease the fields, even before Palin helped increase the state's cut. While other states fire schoolteachers because of the economic downturn, Alaska has, as Palin indicated in accepting John McCain's offer to join him on the GOP ticket, more money than it knows what to do with. In a display of plucky arrogance at her coming-out press conference, Palin boasted deceptively that if Alaskans wanted that infamous bridge to nowhere, "we'd build it ourselves."

She originally had supported having US taxpayers finance that boondoggle, before McCain and others in Congress blasted it.

Not that I blame Palin for wrangling for her state a bigger cut of oil company windfall profits; it's just not an option that will work wonders for states without oil. Of course we can remedy that by having a federal windfall profits tax of the sort that Barack Obama dared propose, and which McCain and his fellow congressional Republicans have managed to quash. Their argument, rejected quite pointedly by Palin for Alaska, is that it would discourage oil companies from investing in boosting oil field yields.

I'm so sorry you are not perceptive to distinguish between the government taking tax money out of my PERSONAL EARNINGS to give to someone else who is paying NO TAXES, and the state government distributing some CORPORATE tax rebates back to the citizenry, which as you noted, was going on long before Gov. Palin took office. I guess your point is Alaska should share their wealth with other states? You must have been absent the day they talked about the US being a REPUBLIC of STATES with a democratic form of government, and NOT a "democracy" as you lefties always try to claim. States are supposed to self-govern.

Moloch- If you have been keeping up with accurate reporting (I know, impossible to find when +80% of the news media self-identifies as Democrat) you would know that the first comment was made at the mention of unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers name, and the second alleged incident was investigated thoroughly by the SS & FBI and no one could find any evidence that it happened. It was flat-out made up by the Scranton reporter. But as Tammy Bruce noted, it is a common tactic of the left to infiltrate rallies and yell obnoxious things in order to paint the opposition as evil. I have seen it with my own eyes.

The other day a McCain supporter was attacked, her sign ripped up and she was beaten in the face with the stick. Republican headquarters have repeatedly had their windows smashed and have been robbed. It was reported that the McCain bus was shot at with paint balls and a .22 caliber rifle. A woman in Texas got a visit from the "SS" when an Obama phone bank person called in a false report that she had made a threat against Obama. These "agents" refused to produce identification and tried to intimidate the woman. In MO, IL & PA the Obama campaign tried to silence the free speech of the other side via legal threats & intimidation. In Philadelphia the other week, Obamabots were throwing smoke bombs, wearing shirts referring to Gov. Palin as the "c" word, and calling for "an old-fashioned stoning". McCain signs are repeatedly stolen & defaced. I have personally been followed by a crazy Obamabot driver screaming at me, flipping the bird, and trying to force my car into the gutter. I have been spit at, screamed at and cussed at. I have personally heard protestors at McCain rallies scream the most obnoxious unhinged things while the DNCmedia turns a deaf ear. Yes, the left certainly is so very tolerant, believing in THEIR free speech and no one else's.

PUMAs have every right to be furious at the Obama campaign's illegal activities, threats, and voter obstruction. Party Unity My @ss. The Democrat party leadership today is nothing but a bunch of socialist, Marxists and Communists. There is no place left for moderates centrists who love their country and believe in the American dream.

For NObama to be the (D) candidate, the most radical left senator there is, with ZERO executive experience, a scant 170 days or so in office, who can only seem to take a stand enough to vote "present", is an obamination. That anyone can vote for this man after seeing his true character and his lifelong pursuit of alliances with the most radical socialist, communists, Chicago thugs, black racists, America-haters, and radical Israel-hating muslims is beyond all logical comprehension. In word and in deed he has sought these people out and made his entire life orbit around them and their ideologies. He is like a pet rock...proof that some people will buy anything if it is well-marketed.

It is you that does not seem to understand what socialism is. Sarah Palin redistributes oil company profits to Alaskan citizens. Hugo Chavez redistibutes oil company profits to the citizens of Venezuela. Both do so on the (correct) basis that the oil itself belongs to the people. Not the companies.

You see "oil company profits" are "personal earnings" to someone. I guess you approve of redistributing other people's "personal earnings" as long as they are not yours? Right?

As Christopher Buckley AND Colin Powell have stated over the last week, the situation is the same in the GOP and the "conservative movement." When somebody as far right as Palin is needed because the "base" won't support somebody as centrist as McCain and would've been outraged at Lieberman, you know that the party is far from being centrist.

No, the proof that people will buy anything if well-marketed was in Bush's re-election. A couple hypocrisies you fail to recognize: Obama has been a Senator for 760+ days. Palin has been Governor (of a state with a population smaller than San Diego, Indianapolis, etc.) for less than 700 days. McCain has no executive experience either. If the reports are true, the selection of Palin was made after a less-than-one-hour conversation. No vetting. Wow. Palin's husband (who she includes so greatly in her governance) was a member of the Alaska Independence Party. The founder's exact words: "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government...and I won't be buried under their damn flag." Now, if it had been Michelle Obama that had joined a group who's leader made those comments? "See, a bunch of black people hating America. No room for them in government."

Can't we stop with the hating and just...get along? Again, it was not my decision to put somebody in power who has increased the future tax burden on me and my children and my grandchildren (ballooning national debt due to record budget deficits, an ill-conceived war, the wasting away of a budget surplus within the first six months of being in office). Who benefited from those policies? It sure as the frozen glaciers in hell was NOT ME. And yet those that did benefit do not want to help fix the problem of their own making. Typical.

Few here are old enough to remember, but when Dwight Eisenhower was president, the top tax bracket was 90 (NINETY!)% and America was the economic engine that drove the world. I remember. Back then there actually WAS a middle class, and it was growing. Now, after eight years of complete incompetence by a predominantly Republican-controlled government,, our middle class is shrinking, we have perpetual war and a debt that our grandchildren's grandchildren will still be repaying, and although we can always find a way to afford $10 Billion a month for a war we were lied into, unlike every industrialized country on earth, those who must work to pay for these misadventures are not guaranteed health insurance. By every measure, compared to all industrialized nations, we spend more on health care, yet our citizens are less healthy and live shorter lives - and yet even this much socialism is unacceptable? I don't think you'll terrorize this nation much longer with talk of the Demon Socialism. The only socialism we see here is for the elite, those who've produced nothing but a failed Ponzi scheme for which the average American's great-great grandchildren will now pay - and we RUSH to embrace it. And now here comes the oldest man ever to run for President, riddled with cancer, choosing a winking Pop-Tart for a running mate, both spewing divisiveness while promising more tax cuts for the rich and oh yes, inevitably, there'll be more wars - no doubt, 'pre-emptive.' Some rapidly dwindling number of dupes may still fall for this, but I'll never in a thousand years EVER vote for a Republican again.

Although according to the consitution we have separation of church and state and are thus able to choose are own religion. I have heard too many people saying that Obama is Muslim because his father who did not raise him was Muslim. There are Muslims that were born into Christian families and Christians that were born into Muslim families.. That is part of the wonderful freedoms we have in America. As Colin Powell indicated, it shouldn't matter anyway. I wonder who is pro american?

Bush's economic advisor Phil Graham wrote the deregulation bill that allowed banks to take huge risks with all of our future.

Now, Phil Graham is the head of McCain's economic policy.He is also McCain's choice for the next secretary of the treasury.

No one in this country can afford for that to happen. The last time Bush met with his economic advisors was in March. He was the last to know somthing was wrong. Phil Graham had the guts to say that we are in a mental recession after he helped create the worst economy meltdown in our lifetime. Sarah Palin is a very pretty, gracious American woman and mother. She always looks very nice, in my opinion. To quote my beloved. deceased mama, "It doesn't matter if you wear patched clothes as long as those clothes are clean and decent." In case you haven't guessed, we were very poor when I was growing up. I have never seen Gov. Palin when she didn't look "decent". Clothes do not make the person. I have the greatest respect and admiration for Gov. Palin.

GOOD POINT. I find it very interesting that no one is talking about this.
