Friday, October 24, 2008

Borderline Campaign Disorder: The "B" Hoax

On a cold night in --, a disturbed young woman committed an act all too common--she called in an attack on herself, stating that she had been attacked by a black man who had robbed her, and, seeing the McCain sticker on her car, in a fit of social activism somehow compatible with his immediately previous psychopathy, slashed a "B" into her face. ; that the B was, in fact, backwards--as would be the case if one was putting it on themsleves in a mirror, was no doubt meant as a literary irony, such as the "Amerika" of earlier social radicals, while the lightness of the scratching--despite his cited "rage"--was no doubt a signal of his electoral ambivalence in this tight race.

Of course, the event, implausible even to those most rabid fictionalists on right wing, was a hoax. Anyone who understands the diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder is well aware of what happened here. Extreme needs for attention combine with physically destructive behavior--most often seen in cutting one's own skin--in an act meant to bring both outer love as it attacks inner self hate.

The act is rarely carefully planned. One of the key features of Borderline Personality Disorder is impulsivity. The act is usually spurred by rage. As a result, they spring to action, to address the immediate need, without any consideration of how the behavior will later unravel. There is simply an intense desire to address a powerful sense of abandonment with an impulsive and ultimately self-destructive action.

In a supreme irony, these characteristics--impulsivity, an emphasis on the grand gesture that is poorly thought through and ultimately self destructive--mirror the tactical efforts of the McCain/Palin ticket throughout this campaign.

Perhaps the act was wiser than it seems.

Perhaps it was meant as homage.

TPM's Greg Sargent reports:

John McCain's Pennsylvania communications director told reporters in the state an incendiary version of the hoax story about the attack on a McCain volunteer well before the facts of the case were known or established -- and even told reporters outright that the "B" carved into the victim's cheek stood for "Barack," according to multiple sources familiar with the discussions.

John Verrilli, the news director for KDKA in Pittsburgh, told TPM Election Central that McCain's Pennsylvania campaign communications director gave one of his reporters a detailed version of the attack that included a claim that the alleged attacker said, "You're with the McCain campaign? I'm going to teach you a lesson."

No other reason at all and it looked very suspicious from the get go. No medical report, the cut itself would have been done 'gently' or it would have not been such a nice perfect B. Why? To harm the image of the first African American running for President. I had a John Mc Cain bumper sticker on my car and he became angry, etc. How many votes did this influence during the hyped up time that Drudge and Fox promoted it? Was one vote lost or two? Or more. I read one website where people were going crazy about it. Saying if Barack Obama is elected white women are at risk and this "guy" the thief with a knife would be allowed to go free. Stop the insanity and think of the real charges dating back hundreds of years that this woman was making. FOR SHAME on her and THE "News Media"

However, I also believe that this was the act of an emotionally and perhaps mentally disturbed young woman who needs help. What disgusts me amost about the whole episode is that the McCain campaigns Pennsylvania staff were quick to attempt to capitalize on this situation and use race-baiting for political gain when the story was first reported.

However, now that Ms. Todd has been revealed to be someone who apparently has problems, the only comments the McCain campaign have made have been to quickly distance themselves from her and dismiss her as "only a volunteer not associated with the campaign". Not a word of compassion about her obvious emotional issues - yet again giving lie to the GOP proclamation of itself as as a party of "compassionate conservatives".

I've heard too many instances where not just average citizens, but actual campaign staff--paid or otherwise--are involved with race-baiting statements. McCain has not stepped up to set a better tone. Stating that Obama "pals around with terrorists" just gives these racists back-up and fuel for their fire. McCain should be held responsible for the tone of his campaign. Imagine if he had, early in his campaign, given a speech that clearly separated him form the inevitable racism that would occur with a black Democratic nominee. But no, he's just stoked the fire.

Ladies and Gentleman, we've had Joe the Plumber, Joe Six Pack, Sarah the Pit Veeper, Ayers the Terrorist, even Barack's pal Bush the GOP President. RIP all of them. Now we bring you Ashley the Campaign Volunteer!!!

McCain: This is TV politics, that's all it is. It has nothing to do with people, it's to do with ratings! For fifty years, we've told them what to eat, what to drink, what to wear... for Christ's sake, Barack, don't you understand? Americans love television. They wean their kids on it. Listen. They love game shows, they love wrestling, they love sports and violence. So what do we do? We give 'em *what they want*! We're number one, Barack, that's all that counts, believe me. I've been in the business for thirty years.

Barack: Well John, I may not have been in political game show business for as long as you have. But I'm a quick learner. And right now, I'm going to give the audience what *I* think they want....

Head of State

http://headofstate.blogspot.com/2008/10/borderline-campaign-disorder-b-hoax.html

Friday, October 24, 2008

Borderline Campaign Disorder: The "B" Hoax

On a cold night in Pittsburgh, a disturbed young woman committed an act all too common--she called in an attack on herself, stating that she had been attacked by a black man who had robbed her, and, seeing the McCain sticker on her car, in a fit of social activism somehow compatible with his immediately previous psychopathy, slashed a "B" into her face. That the B was, in fact, backwards--as would be the case if one was putting it on themselves while looking into a mirror--was no doubt meant as a literary irony, such as the "Amerika" of earlier social radicals, while the lightness of the scratching--despite the "attacker's" cited "rage"--was no doubt a signal of his electoral ambivalence in this tight race.

Of course, the event, implausible as fact even to the most rabid fictionalists on the right-wing, was a hoax. Anyone who understands the diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder is well aware of what happened here. Extreme needs for attention combine with physically destructive behavior--most often seen in cutting one's own skin--in an act meant to bring outer love and attention as it attacks inner self-hatred.

The act is rarely carefully planned. One of the key features of Borderline Personality Disorder is impulsivity. The act is usually spurred by rage. As a result, they spring to action, in order to address the immediate need, without any consideration of how the behavior will later unravel. There is an intense desire to address a powerful sense of abandonment with an impulsive and ultimately self-destructive action.

In a supreme irony, these characteristics mirror the tactical efforts of the McCain/Palin ticket throughout this campaign: impulsivity, an emphasis on the grand gesture that is poorly thought through, and that is ultimately self destructive.

Perhaps the act was wiser than it seems.

Perhaps it was meant as homage.

UPDATE: As predicted, woman has been identified as having as history of mental illness.

UPDATE: As predicted, Police report wounds may have been self-inflicted

Says ....[He Will Raise Your Taxes]

http://www.time-blog.com/swampland/2008/09/the_mccain_tax_increasescontin.html

McCain Top Economic Adviser: [McCain Will Raise Taxes] ...Fact !!!

"Whether you're a Republican, Democrat President or a Martian, Taxes will be Raised"

Though Mccain has said Throughout his campaign

"I will Not, Raise Your Taxes"

His Top Economic Adviser says that a LIE....

Obama will Raise Taxes on those that make More than 250,000...

The 250,000 per year and Under, will have a Tax Break and Tax Cut.

------------------------------------------

Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a former Director of the Congressional Budget Office and current chief McCain economic advisor, is an honest man--which means he's something of a liability on the Straight Talk Express. A few months ago, he admitted to my colleague, Michael Scherer, that Barack Obama's economic plan would reduce taxes for most people.

And now, in a forthcoming book by Fortune columnist Matt Miller, he makes it clear that the next President is going to have to raise taxes.

"If you do nothing on the spending side, you're going to have to RAISE TAXES whether you're a Republican, a Democrat or a Martian," he tells Miller...and then he immediately makes it clear that the "spending side" part of the argument is nothing more than a ...............

"POLITICAL FIG LEAF".

--------------------------------------------------------

YOU REPUBLICANS ARE SUCH GULLIBLE FOOLS...MCCAIN WILL RAISE YOUR TAXES...PERIOD

TAXES WILL BE RAISED...PERIOD...

2 WARS AT THE COST OF BILLIONS, HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT, RECORD HIGH FORECLOSURE RATES, THE BIGGEST WALLSTREET BAILOUT EVER, INFLATION, ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, OVER POPULATION, ALL LEAD TO MORE [TAXATION] !!!

THE SPENDING END IS A ..BIG JOKE !!

SIMPLE, DAMN !!!

John McCain is a Acorn Man, He Attended a 2006 Rally in Support of Acorn as well as John McCain's Surrogates and GOP

Some you Low Lifes, would'nt know your Ear Hole from your A!! Hole, just like the Semi-Senile John McCain, to whom you Blindly Support.

On Monday, the Democratic-leaning group ACORN, which has been painted as a criminal enterprise by the GOP for its voter registration and housing policy efforts, pushed back against its critics by producing a photo of John McCain attending its March 2006 rally.

It was a reminder that, for all their electoral histrionics, Republicans have aligned themselves with ACORN in the past.

Indeed, in addition to the McCain photo, there is a host of examples of prominent McCain surrogates attending ACORN events, signing ACORN legislation, or complimenting the group's efforts.

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, for example, partnered with ACORN in March 2008 for a "Homeownership Promotes The Economy" taskforce. More recently, Crist declared that -- contrary to GOP outrage -- he was not upset with the group's voter registration efforts in his state. The New York Times reported that ACORN supported a law signed by Governor Crist, which "changed the rules last year to restore the voting rights of about 112,000 former convicts."

In July 2005, meanwhile, another Republican governor, Rick Perry of Texas, signed ACORN's Lending Law Reform Bill that changed the state's homelending practices.

In July 2008, California Governor and McCain supporter Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill that ACORN helped draft aimed at California homeowners facing foreclosure.

Story continues below

In June 2007, Minnesota Governor and McCain VP short-lister Tim Pawlenty signed a similar bill -- drafted by ACORN -- that helped homeowners get fairer deals on their mortgages.

"The legislation was drafted according to recommendations made by a predatory lending study group established by Swanson prior to the legislative session," wrote the Northwestern Financial Review. "The study group contained representatives from the banking industry and the mortgage brokers association, as well as consumer advocates from organizations such as Illegal Aid and ACORN."

As Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney signed an anti-predatory lending bill that ACORN supported. In February 2006, Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman met with the ACORN Katrina Survivors Association. And back in July 2005, New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg actually got a kiss from ACORN's state leader, according to the publication City Limits, during an announcement that the city would protect or create 65,000 affordable units in a new housing proposal. Bloomberg, it should be noted, has not endorsed a candidate.
