What does redistributive mean? Well, remember that it was the liberal Left-Wing Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court that brought us this little jewel, holding that the government could take your real property, like your home, not for public use like a road or school, but to give to another private individual, such as a political contributor or other party hack or interest group. You remember this one.

Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005), was a case decided by the Supreme Court of the United States involving the use of eminent domain to transfer land from one private owner to another to further economic development. The case arose from the condemnation by New London, Connecticut, of privately owned real property so that it could be used as part of a comprehensive redevelopment plan. The Court held in a 5-4 decision that the general benefits a community enjoyed from economic growth qualified such redevelopment plans as a permissible "public use" under the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment. Justice John Paul Stevens wrote the majority opinion; he was joined by Justices Anthony Kennedy, David Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer.

The decision was widely criticized by American politicians and the general public. Many members of the general public viewed the outcome as a gross violation of property rights and as a misinterpretation of the Fifth Amendment, the consequence of which would be to benefit large corporations at the expense of individual homeowners and local communities. Some in the legal profession construe the public's outrage as being directed not at the interpretation of legal principles involved in the case, but at the broad moral principles of the general outcome.

This deception campaign tries to benefit from party loyalties. It preys upon hate, prejudice and fear, and on the “unanswered questions” fabricated by the anonymous emails this campaign perpetrated. Links to debunks of many of those fabrications are in an earlier posting.

This is by far the greatest extreme ever in American politics. It is a fundamental threat to our political process. It would further entrench the Bush operatives who took over the McC campaign, and the republican lobbyists who represent only the megarich who looted our economy.

McC was a maverick. He promised to root out the lobbyists he said are what’s wrong with Washington. He said he would not take the low road employed by the Bush machine when it smeared him. He sold out when he got behind and subscribed to the ideology that the end justifies the means.

McC would continue the Bush tax give away to the rich that McC previously opposed and called “irresponsible” because “it only benefits the rich.”

McC now wants to give more billions in tax give aways to oil companies that have just reported the largest profits in history for two consecutive quarters, while he claims that lowering taxes for everyone under $250k in after-deduction income will somehow keep businessmen from starting businesses.

“Nowfor” has employed many of the themes in the anonymous viral emails. He recently said it was “revealed that Obama has PLO buddies” referring to Rashid Khalidi to whom McC donated $440k:

Alan Greenspan said the cause is that an entire financial system was built outside of regulation; "we trusted" these self-interested looters “to regulate themselves”. Credit Default Swaps resulted. They increased from $106 trillion in '02 to $531 trillion under R stewardship.

The legitimate news has reported that Fannie and Freddie paid many millions to McC's campaign manager, Rick Davis, who received up to $35K/mo. from Fannie and Freddie from 2000 to while he has been McC's campaign manager.

I cannot wait until it is over. Hopefully the GOP rebuilds itself to be competitive while they are spending time in the wilderness. For me, they will never get my vote again as long as they continue to go down the Palin path, i.e., anti-intellectual, anti-idea, and they continue to pretend that they are Gods chosen party. The party of Reagan is dead, and he would think Palin is a joke, and for good reason. The leader I want in this country is not a high school cheerleader!

Obama's ill-conceived programs will require him to tax, and his health care plan alone is a substantial hidden tax on all business, large an small. In reality, it does not really matter who he taxes, those taxes are going to be passed through the economy. He has to tax, because it is they only way he can pay for his massive social engineering experiments. Any first year economics student knows that taxation is a tool used to contract an economy experiencing inflation, because it reduces demand by reducing the amount of money individuals and businesses have to spend. It is contractionary, which is exactly what you do not want to do when the problem is that the economy is contracting already into recession. Like Hoover and FDR, Obama's plans will only make it worse for longer.

Chuck, I'm sorry to hear that you too are party to the politics of fear and hatred. You may not have heard of some of these because Obama has taken the high road in this campaign and focused on issues and solutions rather than responding to base attacks on his character and proposals.

Have you ever heard of McCain's "documented terrorist" friend G. Gordon Liddy? Maybe you've heard of McCain being part of the Keating 5? Do you seriously think Palin could capably assume the presidency in the event her 72-year old cancer survivor running mate doesn't survive his term? Think carefully about your answer, because the Republican economic policy has made quite a mess of things over the past eight years, and we need more than a figurehead president. We certainly need someone who at least understands the Constitution, or maybe you're thinking Cheney will come back to help "guide" Palin and abuse his power for another 4 years? Palin is the single most revealing referendum on McCain's (lack of) judgment--a one-hour bar conversation between two of his campaign advisers.

McCain continually points out Obama's inexperience, I'd like to know what experience as president McCain has. Sure, he was a POW, but that's hardly the same as being President of the United States. Patriotic, sure, but it doesn't make him more qualified than Obama. If anything, maybe less, maybe McCain suffers from post-traumatic stress, maybe that's why he left his disfigured wife and why he continues to have a roving eye. He wasn't exactly a steady ship when the economy went haywire. He seems to be seething with rage just below the surface. And honestly, the comments I've heard from people who were POWs with him were that McCain is NOT fit to be president. Look at some video of the Congressional POW hearings to see how compassionate he is toward POW families, maybe there's a clue as to where POWs stand on his fitness for office.

Republicans are endorsing Obama for good reason.

Obama has demonstrated his intelligence and even temper throughout the campaign. McCain has proven himself erratic and impulsive. Obama has run a clean and positive campaign. McCain and Palin have tried to smear him by alleged associations with radicals and wrongdoers, some of which are repeated below, and none of which get past FactCheck.Org or the smell test. They themselves are tainted by ethical censure, McCain for the Keating Five matter and Palin for multiple lapses which may yet have serious consequences for her. McCain gave up his principles (e.g. his opposition to Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy) to secure the nomination, acted irresponsibly in picking Palin as his running mate, and then threw his personal integrity out the window in his desparate efforts to drag Obama down. I wonder when the Republicans, and I mean the really right-wing, die-hard, conservative faction of the party, will stop blaming the media, the polls, anyone but themselves and realize that the expiration date on their mandate has come and gone. There are plenty of moderate Republican members of congress that sadly will be thrown under the bus and will lose their seats as the right-wingers support their darlings. If they continue this trend they will only become more and more polarized towards the right, and more and more marginalized. The time of ultra-Christian, neo-conservative leadership of this country is drawing to a close and sadly that leadership appears to have a stranglehold on the Republican Party for the foreseeable future. Hopefully, soon in the future we can see a collective swing back towards the center from both parties, but I am not holding my breath.

This election has and will be decided on the basis of who has been true to their beliefs and who spoke to the issues as opposed to who didn’t. As a Republican I was deeply disappointed with John McCain as he showed a lack of judgment in picking Sarah Palin as his VP and then he went on to conduct a negative and at times hateful campaign.

The John McCain of the 2000 election (whom I voted for) has now morphed in to a completely different candidate. It is unfortunate that McCain has given up on the virtues and ideals that truly made him a “Maverick”. Instead McCain decided to push from the center way out to the right in order to win favor with his party. The decision to conduct this campaign pandering to the extreme right wing by spewing vitriol and hate towards his opponent and not make a stronger case for his policies has ultimately cost him the presidency. In the end, as much as Barack Obama has inspired hope in millions of Americans with his message of change ( I am one of those), John McCain has done just as much to lose the election for himself as opposed to win it. It is my sincerest hope that Barack Obama is able to unite this nation and that the divisive tactics carried out by the McCain campaign do not hinder those efforts.

Now the job of the Republican Party has to be to take a close look at where it has taken itself and begin to evaluate where it goes from here. Will this party go back to being the progressive and true conservative party that it once was, or will this party be more like the radical right wing version that has haunted this nation for over 8 years? I’m hopeful that we will see a bit more Teddy Roosevelt and Ronald Regan as opposed to George W. Bush in 2012! Either way, God bless American and may President Obama truly be the change we need. Our nation cannot afford for Obama to fail and we must get behind him in order to ensure a speedy recovery for our great country. God bless us all!

But what good does it do? None. Repubs have been trying to tear down Sen. An audiotape of an interview Barack Obama did in January 2008 with The San Francisco Chronicle has surfaced in the final days of the presidential campaign. On the tape Obama tells the interviewer, "so if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can … It's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted."

Now, why would Obama say that in San Francisco and not in Pennsylvania? We have seen that before, yes? Something about guns and religion.

And why did Newsweek take their story on the Pennsylvania campaign down yesterday after this story broke?

Solid post, Andrew. I'm intrigued about the Mason-Dixon polls which MSNBC played a lot yesterday. Not only are they the outliers in comparison to every poll, they have McCain up in Ohio, when most other polling agencies have Obama up by 6! I don't know if any of them are counting cell-phone-only carriers, which would only increase that margin for Obama. It's all about turn-out though, I'm predicting Ohio for Obama by four or five.

In this election season we have seen the republicans fabricate reasons of how mccain will win. First it was Florida, then the Reagan Democrats that would carry him through, then Hillary's "18 million cracks", then Hockey Moms, Joe six pack, Joe the plumber, then the independents, the undecideds and now on the eve of the election there is a "Mason-Dixon" new poll saying that it will be the small rural voters that are going to the polls in unprecedented numbers. All of this adds up to is a well concocted scheme to distort the tracking data that will show proof in the numbers that the popular vote is on Obama's side. In other words the republicans are throwing hail mary's passes to steal the election for a 3rd time; This should not be tolerated in America, no body wants them because they are horrible at what they do-governing. They break everything, the country, the war, the economy, the financial system, the housing industry, the auto industry and worst of all their own supporters that live in those rural areas of the country. I for one will be so glad when voting Tuesday is over. This election has been nothing but a back stabbing and idiotic race to the finish. If McCain loses, it will be because of his selection of a running mate (Sarah Palin). How in Gods holy name did they allow him to choose her? Didn't they do a background check on her to see if she was V.P material? They had to have a sit-down with her to teach her how to talk to the press and media and it still did no good. They spent all that money on clothes and make-up and it still did no good. I don't spend that much money (because I can't afford it) on make-up and hairstyles in two years. What must she have looked like before all this make-over?

I still find it amazing that so many people are looking to someone with NO experience to fix an economic problem that was IN FACT caused by their own party. I would even go as far to say that even Hillary Clinton had more real work experience than Obama. Truely frighting that things were going so well in the economy up unti 2 years ago when the uninformed said they wanted change and put a wacked out liberal - NANCY PALOCI - in as speaker of the house. Now that she & her party have really messed things up with the mortgage crisis they're trying to blame it on someone else. Talk to the Canadians across the river and ask them how they like the 15% sales tax & the lack of good health care. Where do you think they go when they REALLY need a good doctor. I think that way down deep McCain started having doubts about winning when Palin botched the Couric interview, and was negatively re-enforced with Troopergate, the wardrobe $, and the defection of usually-reliable right wingers over her selection. When she didn't get better fast enough, McCain tried all kinds of stunts--leave the campaign to work on the fiscal crisis, encourage the whisper campaing against Obama, etc. I don't think he's really thought about winning for a long time. He keeps going so he won't be slaughtered. What else can he do? Wig out like Perot over vague threats to kidnap his kids and sabotage his prospects even more?

The only way McCain will win is if youth and minority voters become complacent... which I DO NOT see happening. All of the hews coverage from states with early voting are showing droves of young people (less than 30), African Americans, and Latinos. Just the sheer number of new voter registrations hinted at an uphill battle for McCain. The vast majority of newly registered voters are pro-Obama. And the simple fact is that many new voters are not polled because they obviously have no voting history. I wouldn't be surprised if even a few "leaning red" states turn up blue tomorrow... even Mississippi.

So... unless the Rove-machine can pull of an election heist that makes 2000 seem legit or if white America has a sudden throw back to the 1960's, this thing is a wrap.

FYI: The FEC form to run for office does not even ask for date of birth, much less place of birth...need to rethink the form and policy and procedure to make sure candidates are beyond reproach at some basic minimum standard, what a three ring circus the whole thing has become.

There just are so many unanswered questions about both candidates. Clearly, they're both US Senators, both have excellent resumes, and after processing and researching as much as was verifiable, accessible, or could be reasonably inferred from facts and circumstances, Obama/Biden are definitely not the safer choice for me or for my children: McCAIN/PALIN'08

You people wouldn't have even voted 8 years ago for John McCain, when the country needed him the most. Instead, you fed what Bush handed out and drank his kool-aid. But shame on you hateful Dems too. I'm a young teacher, just graduated from college. I will be voting for John McCain tomorrow. He's been my candidate for 10 years now. Being young does not equal being leftist or liberal or unready for change. John McCain would change the direction of this country just as much as Barack Obama. Anything is better than the man who I think may have made up his own party (GDubs).

The facts are this: McCain has served our country honorably - Senator Obama has nothing but high comments to say about his character. He has risked his life to save ours at times. He has called for unpopular things (ie - the surge in Iraq) because he knows the results it will bring (the last month, there was a region in Iraq that was known for its high death rates among US soldiers that had ZERO deaths). McCain is for raising NO ONE's taxes. That means less back for us immediately, but if you think about it, businesses are not going to pay higher taxes. They are going to pass the bill on down to us, so higher prices everywhere else. So... it seems like it would even itself out to be equal in both plans. He is for responsibility in Iraq. He is for responsibility in the home. He is for responsibility period.

Now, why would Obama say that in San Francisco and not Pennsylvania?

And why did Newsweek take their story on the Pennsylvania campaign down yesterday after this story broke?

When it comes time to leave a tip for the young waiter, he compliments the waiter on his attentiveness and service. He tells him that he was going to leave him a $10 tip but, since the young man was an Obama supporter, he told him that he was only going to leave him a $5 tip and give the other $5 to the bum outside the restaurant on the park bench.

" The vets know me, i have done a lot for them etc.. etc.." do not remember the exact words, and yet those words were not convincing. Do you know why? Because, a Democrat Senator, Jim Webb introduced a bill to modernize the GI benefits, and yet Mc.Cain did not vote to support. Yes.. a vetran, who endured captivity, did not support the GI modernization bill and yet he is saying he has done a lot for the vets.. Politicians all lie, that sir is a given fact of life. What we have to do is give someone different a chance. That is what is AMerica known world around. everybody gets a chance to prove. I do not think I would like to pay $4.00 a gallon and exxon gets a tax credit for the HUGE profit it has, why can't they lower the price of gas to the retailer so that the retailer and sell at a lower price and the cost of delivery to stores is reduced the cost of food goes down, that affects republicans and democrates, yet it will not happen so that George Bush, gets a better return on his investments (which his ansestors did for him) Mc. Cain's family will benefit from us being depressed and consuming more and more beer to drwon our sorrows in beer. and beer companies will be next coming out with huge profits. Wouldn't you like to give a few bucks to a poor guy like me? Such as a tax credit to a family with two children of a $1000 each. remember Bill Clinton gave out only $600, Bush, picking up on a good thing increased it to a 1000 and do you think McCain is going to continue it? and if O says he will give i rather take that. I rather vote where i have more at the end of the year in my pocket (middle class) than the elite have more under Mc. Cain tax plan.

There is something about Obama that I can not trust him, sorry folks he has his former pastor who he turned his "Barack" on him. Obama spent 20 + years in this man's church and then once a candidate for pres. gave up on him. I do not believe the Rev. Wright to be a bad guy, he said some bad things, and a lot taken out of text. The Rev. was never violent or advocated violence. I think he was frustrated at the lack of progress for the African American community. The Rev. has done a lot of good for people. If obama was a real person he would have brought the Rev back into the fold where he could do more for the people of america than get tossed in the garbage pile. People need a second chance, thats how america started. I just wonder who else Obama's going to throw under the bus to get where he wants to go.

There are just as many of us that could point the finger at the Clinton Administration for pushing to give every American a shot a owning a home they could not afford. Remember, it is Obama vs. McCain. Bush and B. Clinton aren't running for president. You won't see them on the ballot when you go out to vote.

It's about where do the two candidates stand on the issues and what experience do they bring to the table. Were you align yourselves with the issues is up to you. But when it comes to voting for the more experienced candidate as it relates to foreign policy, protecting our freedom, understanding our economic principles and values, and handling them with rock-solid character, then the decision is clear. John McCain, with a doubt.

Voting is important. Casting an educated vote is even more important.

Actually,Bush was up by 1.5% in the polls going into the election in 2004, and up by 6 points over Gore just before the election in 2000. Yes, the polls are sometimes off, but thank god not by that much. The country was going wrong long before bush was president. Clinton could have passed bills to stop this economic crash but just rode the wave. Everyone in this counry does not deserve a home. And Obama is great at promising things, too bad none of them are plausible. I love the way he is going to have the government give health care, end using oil and lower taxes all at the same time, im not an accountant but the numbers just don't add up. I hope you're right about the disappointed Democrats, but the polls aren't biased. The media may want Obama to win, but the pollsters are judged based on their accuracy, not by picking the media favorite. Most polls just ask "If the election were held today would you vote for McCain or Obama?" They even rotate the names to eliminate bias.

If every poll shows Obama winning, it doesn't mean they're biased. It probably just means that he's going to win.

Putting things in perspective helps process the thought, bring the picture into focus. At the same age Obama was "a community organizer"- John McCain was serving his country. And that is as close as Obama could/will ever come to walking in McCain's shadow.

Americans need to remember what the economy was like when George Bush took office 8 years ago. The Clintons spending policies had so eroded the economy that there was no way 8 years in office could or ever would pull it out of that nose dive. I knew it then and I still know it now.

We, as Americans, will be attempting to recover from the Clinton white house for a long time to come and Obabma is not the "great white hope" that is going to change that. Odds are very good that rushing to place another democrat in the white house may be the very thing the economy needs to drag this country into an even deeper hole and keep it there for longer than any of us ever thought possible.

When I cast my vote tomorrow it will be not only for my own hope but for the hope of my friends and neighbors and that hope is in the McCain/Palin ticket.

I fully believe that Barak Obama is a left wing radical and a racist and I fear for the safety of every American if he wins this Presidential race and if you doubt what I am saying then you need to read his book. It clearly defines him as a radical and a racist. From what I have heard from him during his campaign, it may be the most honest thing I have heard from him to date.

Teddy Roosevelt was a progressive, not a socialist. He was also one of the most popular presidential candidates since Andrew Jackson. He nearly won an election running as an independent. Also, under Roosevelt, America was decidedly expansionist and imperialistic, both traits which lean more toward the current Republican party.

Also, let's not be too hasty to claim that Democrats always save the benighted peoples of America. It was the policies of Carter in the early 80s that led to the stock market crash of 1983. Republicans, namely Reagan and Bush, Sr. fixed it. There are more examples, but this is the most pertinent.

And really, this craziness, for I will agree that some of the things said about Obama are despicable, is in large part a reaction against what is perceived as media bias. Jokes about the McCain-Palin ticket outnumber those about Obama-Biden nearly 7-1. According to Gallup, the media references the M-P ticket negatively over four times as much as the O-B ticket. And no matter how you line up politically, you must agree that the media should be unbiased. Otherwise it ceases to be media.

If I was a Democrat, I wouldn't be embarrassed to support Obama's campaign. I would be embarrassed to hear fellow Democrats only discussing the faults of their opponents instead of focusing on the good qualities of their candidate.

To weir: Apparently you missed the satirical intent of my post. Of course Teddy Roosevelt was not a socialist, but he did give us progressive taxation, and progressive taxation is what McCain and Palin are branding as "socialist" when advocated by Barack Obama, and of course he was an expansionist and no Democratic idol. But TR is supposedly one of McCain's greatest idols.

No, I've been around the block too many times to believe either party is sacrosanct and above reproach. But I've been watching smear ads from the McCain-Palin camp, and from local Republican candidates all during this frenetic election season, and when I see the same manure being spread around the internet as if it contained some golden nuggets of truth, I get a little peeved and I want to say "Stop and Desist!"

I have no explanation for why the coverage of Obama by the media is so extensive. But I remember that during the 2000 election the media, virtually all of it, gave a free pass to George W. Bush, and largely because he knew how to play them, and Gore was stiff and stand-offish with reporters. Little of any investigative reporting was conducted during that time, and since I remember a much more robust and vigorous journalism over the years, I was dumfounded by that.

And let's not forget the Lewinsky scandal of the Clinton presidency. I disapproved of what he did, but I surely didn't see it as a constitutional crisis, but week after week, month after month, all I could hear at the opening of the evening national news was "Monica Lewinsky today said..." So, can anyone consider that a "liberal media" making a circus out of Clinton's tawdry business with an ambitious intern? Or giving an easy ride to Bush in the 2000 election? The press is not as free as it was when I was young, and I too am concerned about its relative passivity. But I have no explanation for why Obama seemed to get more coverage than John McCain did, unless the journalists were all captivated by the very idea that here, at last, was a bona-fide black national candidate who might actually win the presidency. I don't know. Perhaps it was also his ability to draw huge crowds. But this bias, if that's what it was, is certainly no justification for the utter nonsense that's being passed along as facts about Obama.

I want only to hear from candidates what they're going to do for me and the country at large. I don't like attack ads and am thoroughly fed up with the redundant negativity assailing my ears every time a station break occurs on tv. There are some local Dems here in NM who run much more positive ads and I like that, and I've seen many positive Obama ads . That's the way it should be. But when a McCain ad comes on, it's 100% negative. Now, I vote issues and policies, not scandal or gossip, so this constant attempt to smear his rival just gets me irritated to no end.

No, the Dems have not always been right, but they have done more for the positive benefit of working Americans than the Republican party, Even when I was a kid (much longer ago than I care to admit) the Republican party was known as the party of the rich and big business. I haven't seen much in the last 8 years that would alter this image, only now they have this really odd marriage of the Religious Right with the super-rich, and American workers are sadly manipulated to vote against their own self-interest by a smokescreen of airy-fairy "values" issues.

Frankly, I liked it in the old days when networks had to give equal time. And this primary campaign was much too long so that we all look forward eagerly to the end of the general election. But though I'm a progressive and often vote Democratic, I have been known to vote for moderate Republicans in local contests, and have even voted for non-racist third parties. So I'm not just a party hack. But I always vote policies, not personalities, so I wish the campaigns were about policies instead of attacks.

Bush has been a complete bust as President; his level of incompetence is unprecedented, his total lack of commitment to serving the real needs of real Americans is well-known, and his complete inability to communicate with the American people makes him complete useless.

Dick Cheney, by any standard, has been a total waste. He has no credibility, no public support, and has not, in any way, done anything in eight years to improve the lives of Americans. A more useless human being has probably never existed within the Washington beltway.

Let’s face it; George W. Bush (who gets $400,000.00 a year) and his puppet master, Dick Cheney ($221,100.00 a year), offer nothing, except an eight year history of deceit, incompetence, lack of direction, and abject failure, to the people of this country.

So, why would we want either of these boobs to hang around after Tuesday?

Except for Henry Paulson, not one of Bush’s cabinet secretaries (each of whom costs taxpayers $191,300.00 each and every year) has done anything to help the nation cope with the current economic crisis.

Because Secretary of the Treasury Paulson is actually doing something to help the economy, he can stay after Tuesday. Whether you agree – or not – with the government ‘bailout’ of financial institutions, Congress authorized the ‘bailout’ and Paulson’s actually working at it . . . something Bush, Cheney, and their people are not known for.

Secretary of Energy Samuel W. Bodman hasn’t said anything about how he plans to use any portion of the $25 billion taxpayer dollars he got in 2008 to reduce exorbitant fuel costs that have crippled our economy and killed so many small businesses and cost thousands upon thousands of jobs. This is a man who said, “Under President Bush’s leadership, this budget” (the 2008 budget) “builds on our commitment to strengthen our nation’s energy security by diversifying our energy resources and reducing our reliance on foreign sources of energy.” Bodman made that statement a year and a half ago – after he spent $49 billion in 2007 and 2008 – and, yet the nation can’t see where he’s done anything to diversify energy resources or reduce our reliance on foreign sources of energy. So, why would anyone believe Bodman could or would direct his department to make any effort whatsoever to help turn our economy around?

Where has Department of Labor Secretary Elaine Chao been since the economic collapse? She spent 50 billion taxpayer dollars this year and used 17,000 employees to run her department, a department that is supposed to “foster and promote the welfare of the job seekers, wage earners, and retirees of the United States by improving their working conditions, advancing their opportunities for profitable employment, protecting their retirement and health care benefits, and helping employers find workers” . . . yet, we know absolutely nothing about what she’s doing with the $50 billion to help Americans stay in their jobs, get new jobs, and maintain health care coverage for themselves or their families. If Secretary Chao cared about the American worker, wouldn’t she use her economic and political power to help more people hang on to more jobs?

What has Homeland Security Secretary Chertoff done to streamline his department’s $46.4 billion dollar budget and help reduce the federal deficit? Has Chertoff done anything to improve economic opportunities for Homeland Security contractors and employees? What is Secretary Chertoff’s plan to utilize his department’s human, financial, and infrastructure resources to help rebuild and revitalize our economy? We don’t know . . . because we haven’t heard anything from him.

Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates hasn’t said a word about where his department stands on the economic crisis. Has Secretary Gates considered how the economy might improve if he directed National Guard and Reserve units to expedite rebuilding in New Orleans and other areas of the country that have been devastated by natural disasters? If Secretary Gates is truly interested in supporting our gallant troops serving around the world, why hasn’t he announced a plan to work with the Department of Veterans Affairs to come up with innovative ways to transition returning veterans into good-paying jobs in the public and private sectors?

Where has Secretary of Commerce, Carlos Gutierrez been? His department employs 41,000 people and will take $6.5 billion out of the pockets of taxpayers this year. The Commerce Department is supposed to work with other Government agencies to create national policy, through the President’s Cabinet to increase international trade, strengthen the international economic position of the United States, promote progressive domestic business policies and growth, and assist communities, individuals, and states with economic progress. So, why hasn’t Secretary Gutierrez made a public commitment to use every resource at his disposal to create more economic opportunity for small, medium, and large businesses throughout the country? Doesn’t Secretary Gutierrez care? Or is he just incompetent?

With a budget of $707 billion and 64,000 employees, Department of Health & Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt spends more money than even the Defense Department ($647 billion) . . . in fact he controls nearly one-fourth of all the money spent by the Federal Government. What has Secretary Leavitt done with any of the $700 billion he received from the taxpayers this year to help Americans who’ve lost their jobs retain health insurance? If Secretary Leavitt has done anything at all to reduce his operating budget to help reduce our $500 billion deficit this year, he hasn’t bothered to tell us about it.

How about Attorney General Michael Mukasey? The Department of Justice cost taxpayers $26 Billion in 2008 and employs multiple thousands of people in all sorts of jobs all across the nation. So, where does the Attorney General stand on the economic crisis? Why hasn’t he stepped up to reassure us that the Department of Justice will protect our investments in Wall Street and in Main Street as well? Why hasn’t Mukasey come up with any initiatives to introduce, implement, and enforce new and more effective oversight regulations for the financial services industry?

Dr. James Peake, Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, spent $84 billion in taxpayer money this year and we have no idea whether he has any interest cutting his department’s operating costs to help reduce the federal deficit. Dr. Peake has not said word one about what he intends to do to make sure returning veterans can find good jobs in a declining economy. If he has a plan to provide good-paying, secure jobs with health and retirement benefits to returning veterans in this economy, why hasn’t he told us about it?

Where does Department of Transportation Secretary Mary Peters stand on the economic recovery? Is she for or against using the resources the taxpayers have given her to help improve economic conditions? She has 55,000 employees who work for 14 separate departments (from the Federal Aviation Administration to the Federal Railroad Administration to the Office of the Secretary) and she spent $67 billion this year alone. What has Secretary Peters done to invest in the transportation infrastructure to create new jobs? What has Secretary Peters done to streamline her 14 agencies to cut expenditures and return taxpayer dollars to the treasury? We don’t know . . . because we haven’t heard anything from her.

Secretary Condoleeza Rice has demonstrated a level of incompetence that leaves her completely out of any solution-making process, foreign or domestic. She has failed to make any progress in the war of terrorism. She has failed to make any meaningful progress in the Middle East. Secretary Rice has consistently failed to build or strengthen relationships with our allies around the world, thereby failing to create or develop bilateral import/export economic protections for our economy. Her record proves she would be of no use whatsoever in any effort to manage the international implications behind the worldwide economic crisis.

What has Education Secretary Margaret Sellings done to mobilize her department to help the people of America get through the current economic crisis? Out of the $66 billion she spent in 2008, she received $447 million for administrative support alone. How many of those taxpayer dollars has Secretary Sellings directed to create new investments to stimulate the economy? Why hasn’t Secretary Sellings led an effort to introduce initiatives to rebuild and revitalize schools across the nation . . . from inner cities to rural communities to the suburbs . . . to not only improve educational opportunities for our children but to also create new, good-paying jobs for Americans who need them?

Given the abysmal performance of these Cabinet Secretaries, why would we want to waste another taxpayer dollar on any of them?

There isn’t a winner in the bunch and we have no reason to limp along for more than two and a half months between Election Day and inauguration day with Bush, Cheney, Bodman, Chao, Chertoff, Gates, Gutierrez, Leavitt, Mukasey, Peters, Rice, and Sellings.

We’ll want to rely on the President-Elect, the Vice-President-Elect, and their advisors for the critical leadership (guidance and reassurance) the nation so desperately needs . . . starting Wednesday morning.

Won’t we?

the fact is this when bush ran many moons ago he said the same things as Mccain about getting rid of the fat cats and how john Kerry was going to raise taxes and drive the U.S economy down .. hell Mccain said it about Kerry and here he is bashing Bush ok i dont love him but he did do some good things, yes we are in a world of hurt because he decided to start a war someplace that gave Alquida a new home to play in, but MCCain has to realise that they can say all they want about Obama he was one of the Idiots that put the frat boy into office.

Also says he's policy will cause price of electricity to skyrocket.

Now, why would Obama say that in San Francisco and not Pennsylvania? We've seen him do that before, right? Something about guns and religion.

“Nowforsomethingotherthanthetruth” exemplifies the measures employed by the McCain campaign starting with the anonymous smear emails that began when McC hired the Bush propaganda machine.

McC would continue the Bush tax give away to the rich that McC previously opposed and called “irresponsible” because “it only benefits the rich.”

“Nowfor” has employed many of the themes in the anonymous viral emails. He recently said it was “revealed that Obama has PLO buddies” referring to Rashid Khalidi to whom McC donated $440k:
