DNC Chair Believes Texas Will Soon Be Blue

Katie Connolly

DNC Chair Tim Kaine emailed supporters today to announce that the committee's fall meeting will be held in the Lone Star State. In the email, Kaine likens Texas to Virginia, arguing that it is poised to shift to the Democrats. He says Dems should have every reason to feel "bullish" about their hopes in Texas. Kaine writes:

It wasn't that long ago -- less than 10 years, in fact -- that Virginia was considered just as strong a lock for the Republicans as Texas has been. In Virginia, we had Republican Governors, Republican U.S. Senators and a strong Republican majority in our Congressional delegation and state legislature. And we didn't merit any attention from Presidential candidates during general elections because no Democratic candidate since Lyndon Johnson had won Virginia's electoral votes.
Today? I'm the second consecutive Democrat to serve as Governor of Virginia, we took back the State Senate and have reached near parity in the House of Delegates. Both of our U.S. Senators are Democrats, and Democrats are the majority of our U.S. House delegation. And of course, in November, Barack Obama became the first Democratic Presidential candidate since 1964 to carry the Old Dominion.

In so many ways, I believe Texas is poised to move towards our column, just as Virginia has.

Maybe Governor Perry will add that to the list of reasons Texans should secede.

If you do not have a sense of humor, please do not read the following joke. I don't know who made it up, but I thought it was pretty funny and appropriate for this Gaggle posting.

Survivor - Texas Style

Due to the popularity of the "Survivor"shows, Texas is planning to do on entitled "Survivor, Texas Style" The contestants will all start in Dallas, then drive to Waco, Austin, San Antonio, over to Houston and down to Brownsville.  They will then proceed up to Del Rio, El Paso, Midland, Odessa, Lubbock and Amarillo.  From there they will go on to Abilene, Fort Worth, and finally back to Dallas.

Each one will be driving a pink Volvo with bumper stickers that reads: Ï am for Gay Marraige"", I love the Dixie Chicks", "Boycott Beef", "I voted for Obama", "George Strait Sucks", "Hillary in 2012" and "I am here to confiscate your guns".

The first one to make it back to Dallas ALIVE wins.

God Bless Texas

I know a lot of companies are fleeing California for Texas and Nevada.  What is the unemployment rate in TX?

The DNC knows Obama has a plan to legalize millions of undocumented workers in TX and give them goodies.  ACORN is probably expanding in Texas also so that there will be more votes than registered voters.   And don't forget the Dead; they are always good for a few votes.  The DNC chair shouldn't count his chickens to soon because the Taxman is coming for everyone, and many might just wake up from their Hopenosys in time to save TX and the Country.

This column is soooo true. Perry has proved to be such a disaster as a leader. He is the only governor that I know of who is routinely booed when speaking to the public in his own capitol city. The Republicans have lost the cities and are seeing Democratic growth in the 'burbs. It's only a matter of time
