Palin's Out: What the Web Thinks

Mark Coatney

Now that Sarah Palin has dropped her resignation bomb, the rest of the Web is spending a lovely Friday afternoon trying to figure out why. Matt Cooper has some theories, here. Friends Palin tell Politico's Mike Allen she plans to remain in the public eye, but hasn't decided anything about 2012. Is this a clue?

An Alaska blogger lists some possible reasons

Stromberg says this was a foolish move.

And, of course, if you haven't read Purdum's Vanity Fair piece, it's definitely worth the hour of your life to read it.

I don't see how she could make a credible run for the GOP nomination after this.  How could she ever get a top-notch campaign staff together?  Bill Bennett seems to think that even though the political insiders consider this move nuts, she will still appeal to the base.  Well, Bill, she won't get a chance to appeal to the base if the insiders decide otherwise.  I can see the ads now:  WHEN THE GOING GOT TOUGH.....

The truth of the matter is ...When you peel back the lip stick, the high heel shoes, and the winks, you got nothing. Like my grandmother said ..."She's a brainless ninny".
