Happy Birthday, President Obama

Holly Bailey

President Obama turns 48 today. He’ll spend his birthday at the White House, where he’s having lunch with the entire Senate Democratic Caucus this afternoon. “Chuck E. Cheese was booked,” Press Secretary Robert Gibbs joked yesterday. Yeah, yeah—You laugh now, Gibbs, but wait until you see Harry Reid jump out of a giant cake.

In honor of the prez’s birthday, your Gaggler is posting what seems to be one of the more controversial documents these days: Obama’s birth certificate. Confirmed again and again by Hawaii’s state health department, the document shows that Obama was born on Aug. 4, 1961, in Honolulu—though some folks just don’t believe he’s a U.S. citizen and likely never will. A Research 2000 poll sponsored by the liberal blog Daily Kos found that while a majority of those polled believe Obama is a natural-born citizen, 11 percent of those surveyed didn't buy it, while 12 percent just didn't know--small, but fairly disturbing numbers nonetheless.

Still, one could say Obama got an early birthday present yesterday when Dr. Orly Taitz, one of the leaders of the so-called “birthers” movement, appeared on MSNBC to challenge Obama’s citizenship. Taitz told MSNBC she has a copy of Obama’s real birth certificate, which she says shows he was born in Kenya, but in defending her claims suffered what can only be described as a seriously epic meltdown. Will this put an end to all the conspiracy theories? Probably not.

Happy birthday President Obama. It's Obama's birthday on August 4th, and the President of the United States will be turning 48. Obama's birthday will also bring up one of the most persistent conspiracy theories, the one about his birth certificate – you know, there was a bunch of nincompoops that thought he was born in Kenya, now referred to as "birthers", who are going to be squawking about seeing the birth certificate. (That is not what a lot of people call them – it rhymes with "gum passes". Think about it.) Still, Happy Birthday to the Commander in Chief, and it isn't likely that someone will be running to a payday lender for cake and decorations for Obama's birthday.

iza,

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on healthcare, but can I still have your tinfoil hat?

Iza,

First off, sorry that I thought you were a woman. I read something on a post that lead me to believe that, but I can't remember why.

Re: Stock Market/Economy - Obama doesn't believe in the stock market as a scorecard when it is down, but if comes up then it is a scorecard. Which one is it? It was up to 14K under Bush, so I guess he was a great President at that point in time. I suck at golf, so I am used to high scores. Unemployment is still heading over 10% and businesses are projecting more layoffs, but I guess that is good in Obamaworld.

Re: Unpatriotic - I guess you called all of those democrats that continously called Bush names unpatriotic right? What about all those who demean the former Gov. of Alaska? I support the military. I support the right to use enhanced terrogation on TERRORISTS to save American lives. I support babies in the womb, especially the ones in the third trimester from being ripped apart in a partial birth abortion. That makes me patriotic and a birther I guess. I support the American people's right to attend a Health care townhall and speak their minds. Obama is pathetic because he is soft on Terrorist and heartless regarding yet to be born Americans. And he demeans average Americans for voicing their opinions. STILL NO MANDATE for the Messi-UH!

You probably have a tin-foiled hat leftover from the Bush Presidency, so you can send it to me since I don't own one.

Okay, so he is a Quasi-Socialist - He is trying to socialize the healthcare system, and I am still against it.

Have you seen the polls on healthcare? Americans do not want Government Run Healthcare.

Later DUDE!!
