her leadership is pretty much over. she will not be voted speaker again.
For someone who screamed "CULTURE OF CORRUPTION" loud and often in 2005 in the lead up to the 2006 mid terms, Nancy Pelosi has not done one thing to clean up corruption under her leadership. Truth is, Rangel is just one! How about John Murtha?? When the country is in a deep recession, and unemployment is nearing 10%, it would appear that she would have the good sense to cut off the tax cheating and pork spending. Guess she just does not have it in her.
Hope that 2010 will be a sea change with a rip tide taking out these scoundrels!
That the Democrats in Congress are up to no good now that they've been in leadership for a while should come as no surprise, just as it was no surprise with the Republicans a few years ago.
That old quote about the British parliament seems apropos here: "As standing water soon stinks … so a standing House of Commons, will ever be a standing pool of corruption."
Substitute "Congress" for "House of Commons, fast forward a couple of centuries and nothing has changed. Full-time legislatures, manned by professional politicians, engender dishonest dealings wherever they're found. History is replete with examples to support the claim.
