Annie Leibovitz Shoots the Obama Family Portrait

Holly Bailey

Annie Leibovitz has been spending a lot of time at the White House lately, and now we know why. The famed photographer, in the headlines lately for drama over her personal finances, shot the official Obama family portrait, which was posted on the White House’s Flickr account this morning. Leibovitz has been trailing Obama for months. In January, she shot a major portfolio for Vanity Fair of Obama and his staff. She’s been spotted sporadically at the White House ever since, including earlier this month when she was accidentally body-checked by another press pool photographer while shooting Obama at a Democratic fundraising event. (Yes, covering the White House can be a lot like hockey.) No word on how much the portrait cost, though Leibovitz's rates reportedly exceed $100,000 a day. We're guessing the White House got a decent discount.

Being a photographer, I think that the picture of the Obama's was much to posed, I could have taken a better photo and surely for much less, Hey who paid Annie, did we pay her, the american people, or did obama?? Would be curious to know.

How come, when other presidents have done similar things, no one was whining about them taking time out of their schedule or the cost?

The picture is great and shows a intact, happy American family.  This is a great picture for folks here in the states, as well as abroad, to see.

A little 2 premature for Lebovitz.

So far the dream turned out to be a nightmare.

Obama took more out of American purse and gave it to the fat cats and were all wondering WTF MAN?

If that is cause for celebration Lebovitz style then by all means, hang up the portrait on WallStreet.

On every other street i'm not sure we want to see a RobberBarron by any other name steals just as much.
