This Week In Conservative Media: When it Comes to Fort Hood, Why Ask Why?

Eve Conant

“I could not believe I was hearing that question all weekend: why did he do it? Why did a Muslim, in touch with Al Qaeda, open fire on U.S. military personnel?” asks Rush Limbaugh. “I tell you something, folks, political correctness and a lot of other things are gonna lead to our downfall.” Limbaugh also discusses how the House Judiciary Committee just voted to strip the Patriot Act of a provision allowing the government to spy on people who are not linked to known terrorist groups, i.e. “lone wolves.”

The question of whether alleged gunman Nidal Malik Hasan is a lone-wolf madman or a terrorist with links to Al Qaeda is driving many commentators up the wall. Last week we reported that many in the conservative media were asking that same question. But that soul searching moment seems to have passed.

Laura Ingraham links to a WSJ op-ed by Dorothy Rabinowitz that takes on Dr. Phil and lays out the basic question: why on earth is anyone trying to figure out something so clear? “What is hard to ignore, now, is the growing derangement on all matters involving terrorism and Muslim sensitivities. Its chief symptoms: a palpitating fear of discomfiting facts and a willingness to discard those facts and embrace the richest possible variety of ludicrous theories as to the motives behind an act of Islamic terrorism."

In desperation at what is described as an MSM (mainstream media) whitewash, a Washington Times op-ed resorts to complementing a terrorist for his honesty. “The refreshing candor of someone like Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, the shooter in the June attack on the Army recruiting station in Little Rock, Ark., is rare. Reportedly, he said he was a practicing Muslim angry with the U.S. military for its crimes against Muslims and would have shot more than the two soldiers he killed if more had been available. This incident also was called ‘not terrorism.’ ”

WorldNetDaily remarks on Hasan’s allegiance to the Falls Church Mosque, where two 9/11 hijackers were also regulars, and its former cleric, Anwar al-Alwaki, who told followers on his blog (since taken down) that Hasan was a “hero."

Another area of ire? Gun control. Fort Hood should be an example of why we need guns, say commentators like the National Review’s Jay Nordlinger. A Hot Air reader by the name of MadisonConservative (also picked up by Rush Limbaugh) obsesses over efforts by “anti-gun nuts” to ban weapons, in this case the FN Herstal, instead of looking at what the writer feels is the broader picture. “Of course. They tried it with Columbine and Virginia Tech, why not the tragedie du jour?”

Or the DC sniper. Later on Tuesday, John Muhammad will be executed, and his case is yet another example of MSM whitewashing and politically correct hand-wringing, says Michelle Malkin. “The parallels with the Fort Hood case─jihad-inspired killers, media whitewash—are striking. They’re the parallels you can’t talk about without being labeled a bigot, racist, or “extremist.”

looky daveyeforTheRightGuy likes to hear himself babble, getting all caught up on typos and AVOIDING the questions, disrespecting US MARINES and troops in general, and of course, his comments on people of color not deserving money or power...(primaries 08,pre-Obama election).

If you like I can ask that question again, I asked you so many times as you kept avoiding it that I know it by heart...interested in answering, the context was YOU trying to defend the surge in Iraq and me asking why NONE of that "logic" was applied to Afghanistan...here ya go:

Q: Why didn't Bush apply his "strategy" for Iraq to Afghanistan, instead of abandoning it to invade a country that has never attacked the US? Why did bush "CUT and RUN" to Iraq, why did he NOT "Finish what he started", "Stay The Course", "Fight them there" (instead of letting al qaeda follow US to Iraq)? see how none of the "propaganda phrases" you and your KLAN constantly puked up every where about Iraq where NEVER used or even conceived in Afghanistan. "IF" any of that had been applied, there would have been NO NEED for a "SURGE" in Iraq as there would have been NO Al Qaeda in Iraq to surge for and THOUSANDS of AMERICAN LIVES would have been saved along with tens of thousands of Iraqi civilians...WHY did bush ignore Afghanistan for nearly eight years, why did he abandon the troops there, lose focus on what "WE THE PEOPLE" wanted to be achieved by going to Afghansitan, wiping out Al Qaeda there and KILLING Bin Laden, WHY?

there ya go let's call it  235...I'll be waiting...AGAIN and as always

Oh yeah and one more thing, unlike the moronic KLAN you keep company with, thinking people don't the need to declare their president a saint (like you did bush), and can actually disagree with Obama. Putting mcchrystal in charge was to use Obama's words..."STUPID", mcchrystal in an appeaser to the Afghans, he care little for the actual reason we are supposed to be there and more about the "safety" of the Afghan people, even at the sacrifice of US troops.  As mcchrystal has shown he is not afraid to politicize our troops (PAT TILLMAN for one). That is NOT a safe mind set for one who calls for more troops, even in the face of several other generals opposing a "surge" there. Less than 100 al qaeda members are left in Afghanistan, why do we need nearly 100K troops (total w/extra 44k) there? Sounds like special forces to me, 100 targets, clean and quick, then get the F@#K out. Karzai is a know tali ban sympathizer, why should we support his government, while he(karzai) gives money and support the the very people attacking US troops there? Now in your feeble mind, you can't conceive of someone who supports a president feeling ANY descent  with that president, but it's called free thinking, I don't have to agree with EVERYTHING Obama does, he's human, he'll make mistakes, bad choices...but unlike the MORON before, he'll admit it, take ownership of it and try to learn from it...

anyway, I'll be waiting and probably counting...

OMG (Obama's Muttering Groupie) - hardly here nor there -

Just like a spoiled little brat, you persist in posting your off-topic rant. This is it - my final accommodating reply on this thread - no more!

What’s prompting your current tantrum - is your child’s diaper too tight, or is it clogged with your repugnant waste?

Don’t you realize that General Stanley McChrystal was personally selected by your poor excuse for a president to be the military commander best suited to lead his war strategy and effort?

And although Major Nidal Malik Hasan is only a major, he still ranks as a SENIOR MILITARY OFFICIAL. Wasn’t he promoted to that rank under the rank Barack Obama command?

I didn’t bother answering your self-admitted simple question posed 230+ times because I realize that your simple mind could not correctly comprehend the answer.

You have not provided any proof to validate your preposterous and false claim that I hate US troops.

And is there any logical, and I repeat LOGICAL explanation for your puzzling comment “i was my cousin who was victim of and IED attack in Iraq.” Hardly, don’t you realize that you cannot be your cousin? And instead of using the word “and,” you should have stated “an.” Gee, I purposely set the IQ bar very low for you, and yet you still failed to clear it.

Do your supposed cousin and supposed son humour you by allowing you to parade around the block on your pink tricycle while wearing their military medals?

And have you bragged to them regarding your pathetic and unpatriotic previously posted applause regarding the fact that some of their fellow soldiers had been returned to the US in coffins and body-bags?

To refute your false allegations that I had denigrated people of colour - you can’t even pay attention to facts such as proper spelling (case in point - Betrayus, MUREDER , feb, amde, wring), therefore that explains why you can’t pay attention to my detailed specific comments.

I notice that you failed to divulge the number of times that you have been banned from this Newsweek site, and the specific aliases that you have used.

Hardly, don’t you realize that your challenge “Name 3 things Bush did wring or failed at as president?” doesn’t make sense?

And I deliberately specified that my reference to you swallowing the ball was a tennis term - yet somehow you interpreted that differently, probably in accordance with your previously revealed perverted lifestyle.

Lastly, you do not own me - all you own is the offensive crap overflowing as your opinion from your soiled diaper!
