John Edwards is like a child movie star, whose struggles with maturation are up for public display and comment. He has not handled these "opportunities for growth" well. He does not seem to realize that the mechanisms of both his thinking process and emotional maturity have become uncovered during his attempts to explain the issue of his infidelity. His lack of honesty--most particularly with himself--is appalling. His apparent inability to acknowledge the dark side of his personality sends a shudder of fear down my spine--what would we have done had we elected him?

Re the WaPo puff piece by "reporter" Alec MacGillis, so the subject of the interview says I will not talk about topic A, B or C. Translation: I'm looking for free publicity to try to convince the audience I'm someone other than I truly am. This is the Wash Post's idea of reporting? If I remember right, the Wash Post also refused to investigate Edwards during his presidential campaign when rumors were rampant that Edwards was lying to the electorate about his affair, all while putting his wife front and center in his campaign. Just in case the Wash Post and its reporters are still delusional about their worth in this democracy, let me be clear. The Wash Post is nothing more than a national laughing stock with an elevated sense of importance. And by the way, if you want to contact me to discuss my comment, please know that I'm not willing to discuss this topic and instead will only talk about things that make me look good.

In the interview in the Washington Post John Edwards says:

"Most of all, he wants his most ardent supporters to believe that the message that drove his campaigns was solid, despite all later revelations about the candidate himself.

It was real, 100 percent real," he said. "I want them to be proud of what I stood for, and of what the campaign stood for. The stands were honest and sincere and idealistic. They were what America needed then and needs now."

ASIDE:

I have, already, always known this about John Edwards.

That is why I am just waiting for the opportunity to once again donate my time and money to any cause John Edwards supports.

Edwards' entire personality and thought process is rooted in his narcissism. He amassed a fortune by projecting his manufactured empathy to uneducated juries who rewarded him at the hour of the verdict in malpractice lawsuits. He desparately wants people to like him - and he thinks he should be rewarded handsomely for it at the same time. He was a master at taking the core beliefs of the people in the jury box and tying it to emotional retribution in the form of millions of dollars on the (faceless) medical system. He has no qualms about who ultimately pays for it and how much financial damage it does to the insurance industry, medical professionals, hospitals or how much it contributes to the cost of health care. The country was fortunate to have had him unmasked before he made it to elected office.

Any man who cheats on a wife with cancer and denies the paternity of a child (yeah take the DNA test John; let's clear it up. Jesse jackson did it, so it's time for you to man up). deserves to stay in the outer circles. Just because people embraced Clinton once again after he had his Lewinsky fling does not mean we should embrace you. When you decide to be totally honest, give us voters a call.

John Edwards suffers the hallmark of all narcissists; he is hopelessly stuck on himself. Pulleezzeee. . .'the poor people' are no more than a shameless means to a 'gloried end' for the man himself. 'The poor' John references, are what 'useful idiots' are to Liberal orthodoxy. The MO is always the same. John Edwards has economically-challenged country neighbors; who only see him, in his dark-windowed Limo and/or SUV leaving a dusty trail as he speeds by them. . No; not even a hand wave; a head nod; or just some 'honest appreciation'. Country neighbors; of whom it can be said; know an honest day's work; and know a fraud when they see one.

It's called Narcissism. Edwards is a severe narcissist. He can't handle it that his wife, who he brutally betrayed has had press coverage lately but poor John Edwards hasn't. The guy is a loser, a fraud. Just remember his statement that he had his affair when Elizabeth Edward's cancer was in remission. He tried to justify it, make it less horrific. He is a cad and a waste of eye strength to read his B.S.

I know it's easy to share our opinions on john,but to really know what he's thinking you'd have to understand his behavior.I think I recognize why he has to constantly diffuse his remarks .When he says that she turned him on with the remark your so hot it could be stated that because of his mindset at the time that a normal John would not have reacted to her but John was not his normal during that time.His wife the source of his true strenghth and courage was and had been gravely ill.She was always his backbone his courage and a little bit a sense of his northstar.He felt unprotected and vulnerable and this woman just happened to say somethimg that made the unnormal John feel less like hisself and feel however brief better. There are consequences of course but shouldn't we give him a break haven't any of us ever felt our world shift underneath us and done something terrible trying to feel better?
