Exchange student programs and other types of cultural exchanges where people get to know real people bring understanding and positive changes. Then the people demand changes in their leaders...that is how it happens.

The Russians have always been a strong surviving ppl..Though they love music they have always bowed down to their leaders whims.. They nor the incredible powers of Obama will not change the political power of the Russian elite... Putin basically rubbed Obamas nose in Bear crap and said SCRAM NEWBY... They will not budge on anything Obama proposes to them.. They on the other hand will tell Obama what THEY will do..Not the other way around....

Putin's body language was decidedly standoffish. I saw one report that Putin sent Bush a nice note on his birthday which happend to coincide with the arrival of O and his reset button. That seemed like a big slap in the face. He praised bush's hospitalituy and sincerity. Just maybe Putin and others in countries with a long history take a dim view of apologies and reset buttons. Obama would do well to understand the banefits of stabiity in both economy and foreign policy. He is so interventionist and unpredictable he has everyone in the world on edge.

If anything, the Russians laughed even harder at Obama and the US AFTER the meeting!!
