And if you don't pay the bills for the emergency care your credit rating gets tanked and you can't get a decent job, place to live, or such. Government should have to live in the real world for sis months before being elected to office, then maybe they would get a better idea about what we face as citizens. Let one them choose between buying food for a week or paying $60 for a doctor visit and who knows how much for medicine.
As a pharmacist, I see too many (medicaid) prescriptions from ER's as well as pediatrician offices for antibiotics, inhalers, cough syrup, you name it, that are DAYS old before they are brought in to be filled (and when asked, no, they didn't receive samples for that period of time). Having insurance isn't the answer in all cases. It infuriates me that irresponsible parents don't go directly to the pharmacy for things like this! If the child is sick enough to see a dr., get the medicine on the way home! (especially on medicaid, when there's no copay!) Sure, covering every child may save a few, but society can't solve the problem of bad parenting!
Thank you for publishing this article. It contains the truth that the GOP and the Blue Dog Democrats don't want to face. Of cousre, they are too busy collecting campaign contributions from health insurance companies to care.
