I am sad my wife is not amongst them. :)

Maybe their escalating financial influence on the industry will help drive the changes...

I, myself, am a late blooming gamer, I started playing console and computer games around 2000 with some friends, and I've been playing WoW for the last 4 years, I'm a 64 year old woman.

My WoW guild has many women in it and they range in age from around 11 to 64. I know many couples in their 30's and 40's who play, sometimes with their children. MMORPGs are a way to play, make new friends, and have fun. All from your own home.

We have a small "family & friends" guild and the only other woman, besides myself and my 13 year old daughter, is more of a "hardcore gamer" than her husband!!

In short, we "Women Gamers" need to not be shy! Stand Up and Be Proud of being a 71 Dwarf Palladin or 49 Troll Priest, or 25 Dranei Hunter!!! And the writer of this article is right, where are our Crazy, Hot Digitally Animated Guys?!?!

More gamers = more multiplayer games = more fun.

I think game companies do women AND themselves a disservice with the sexism that's so pervasive in gaming. Make the effort to satisfy BOTH genders, and I promise you, you'll come out ahead of your competitors that fail to do this.
