If you swear the oath of office, and then practice socialism or communism during the course of duty, you have violated the oath. If we are to be a socialist or communist nation, proponents of such change should push for amendment or abolition of the existing United States Constitution. Otherwise, law allows severe punishment of violators. Unfortunately, this role of punisher has been left to the citizen governor as the newly elected fail to follow through and generally themselves violate the oath.
"It is a violation of 5 U.S.C. 7311 for any person taking the oath of office to advocate “the alteration ... of the form of the government of the United States by unconstitutional means.”
Dear Tomkopi, I hope you will find in the US everything that you missed in Germany. We have a proverb in France saying "Grass is always greener elsewhere". The values of european civilization are not opposed to americans. History made them different, and it has been our generation great goal to forgive, to go forward and try to bild something new, something peaceful, something we can share together instead of fighting. It has started only since 1957. Many, many thing are still to be made and the economic crisis is a good opportunity for nationalists, warmongers, bigots,etc.. Some people feel bitterness, confusing natural ambition with grid, making selfishness a value and always seeking the guiltyness of their own failures by foreigners.
So, it's difficult, it will take a long time, and there will be a lot of political debates to fo forward. Fortunately, in Europe, there is no one in charge of power (except maybe in Austra) that can be compared with the Us radical Reps. We'll do our best to go on this way.
Sorry your country disappointed you, and expecting you did not run away from yourself.
@tomkopi
What you claiming is just ridiculous.There are so many discussions about important government issues in Germany and you if you don't like things you can get active and join a political party.
You sound like an average "Bild" reader, maybe you should educate yourself better.
